Tadzhik SSR-Afghan Border; 0700 Hours
The Red Army had amassed a large troop encampment on the Soviet-Afghan border in response to last weeks border suicide bombing. The Taliban regime still reigns in power due to no other Middle Eastern nation willing to destroy it. Islamic militans have been regularly crossing the border between the two countries to cause havoc amongst neighboring cities. Now the Red Army had decided to do the same.

In the small border town of Shir Khan, all was well. The police were slowly pulling out of curfew duty. Children were awaking to go to their makeshift schools while their mothers remained at home, cloaked in the normal, oppressive attire. Men were driving to work and dropping off their sons at school. Despite being a bordering town, Shir Khan was relatively safe. Only three suicide bombings had happened last week within the towns vicinity.

As the fathers were arriving at work and the mothers were cleaning up after breakfast, all Hell broke loose. ST-190 MBTs, IFT-105s, T-90s, Hermon FV (Stolen Bradley specifications), among raw troops poured over the border. Ak-109 gunfire ran through the streets as the police tried to combat the oncoming Soviet forces; but to seemingly no avail.

Kabuk, Afghanistan; 0800 Hours
Shah Barbar al-Saffir sat in his office when the Preatorian Elite Guard slammed into the room and grabbed the Shah. "What in the Hell is going on?!" shouted the Shah. "Your Highness, we're taking you somwhere safe. Soviet forces have pushed over the Tadzhik, Uzebek, and Turkmen borders. Khost was just demolited by aerial bombardment and we hear B-90's are en route to Kabul with atleast four MOAB thermobaric munitions." Once the Shah heard the news, it was as if a twig within the poor man's mind broke. All sanity leaked from him and fear insued.

His father had fought the Soviets from the '70s to 1989 when they were forced to retreat and concentrate forces in the Balkans due to NATO invasion. Al-Saffir had promised his people that invasion would never come again - meanwhile inforcing more strict laws and oppressive behavior; but as the Romans: bread and circus. He had prayed to his god that invasion would never come. But by now, it was too late.

Over Kabul Airspace; 24,506 Feet
Crackling went over the comlinks, "Err, this is Red 90, come in Red Fox 3." "This is Red Fox 3, over." "Red Fox 3, whats the status from Moscow? Are we clear to go?" The communication lines were quite momentarily, "Err, yes Red 90. All clear to go. Targets are: The Imperial Palace, the industrial sector, administrative district, and zone 43 - the bourgoise territory." "Err, roger, over. Begining bombing run." As the four aircraft - one B-90, two Su-81s, and one MiG-30 - pulled into the area above Kabul, the automated targetting systems picked up the targets.

The plan from Moscow was, to drop MOAB thermobaric bombs on the Imperial Palace and Administrative district while only using HARRM air-to-surface hardpoints against the inustrial and high-end executive districts. The bombers quickly flew into their assigned trajectories, allowing radio silence to filter out over the channels.

Amidst the mid-morning dew, thermobaric munitions fell on the Imperial Palace, allowing the Shah to watch the drastic collapse of his totaltarian regime of terror. The remaining thermobaric bomb fell into the heavily crowded administrative district, clogging the streets with a mixture of ash, fire, sand, and debri. A holocaust arose from the rubble, filling the down-wind areas with a thick smog and a suffocating haze of ash and fire.

As the Shah left Kabul, an Su-81 released a HARRM hardpoint within damage radii of his convoy, causing the immediate descentigration and death of the Shah and his most held dear allies. Fire arose from the rubble as power fell all across the Afghan capital, plunging the surprise populace into turmoil and chaos.

A young woman appeared on the screen. The picture shook as the man struggled to carry the camera. The reporter was covered in dirt and grime and quickly fumbling with her mic. "Hello, hello! Is this working?! Alright. Hello. I am here in Khost, one of the first cities struck by the Soviet airforce. As you can see behind me, not many people are in the streets. Most men and women had fled once hearing reports obviously intentionally released by Moscow allowing as many people to escape as possible. However, casualties have been in the moderately high range. Both civilians and soldiers were killed in Khost, but mostly soldiers and paramilitary units." The screen crackled violently, "I don't think we have much time, our satellite feed is being cut out by interferance. Let the world know, the Shah is de-" The satellite feed was cut...

High above the earth in sub-orbital flight, a single Afghani satellite hovered above the earth. The system was baught by Afghanistan from Parthia several years before Shah Khosru III took power - it still even bares the Parthian Plutocratic seal. As it silently hovered above the earth, a fire storm erupted against it. The satellite tore apart, sending shrapnel and debri hurddling towards earth, only to be incinerated by the atmosphere. Little did the world know, that twenty-one minutes before the Aghani invasion, but Moscow had cleared the activation of FOBS - the Fractional Orbital Bombardment System. From a site in the Uzbek SSR, an anti-satellite ballistic missile was launched, colliding with the satellite and eventually destroying the journalism and recon power of the Taliban.

Interesting. Although I don't think invading a country is justified but I'll make an exception because of the brutal government of Afghanistan. But you can't post losses of the other nation.
