Brood Mother Assault Carrier (Critiques Welcome)

OOC: This is going to be the first of many ships and what not that I design. At the moment I am very new to all this, so any critiques would be greatly appreciated. This ship is a cross between a cruiser and an aircraft carrier.

IC:
The escalating crisis involving Feline Catfish had sent shockwaves throughout the world. With time this ripple hit The Infinite Crucible. Almost immediatly it took a stance of staunch neutrality. The scale of the coming war could not be ignored, however. The Emperor declared that second hand naval ships could no longer be used to defend the great nation and that new ships must be designed. The first of many designs to be announced was the Brood Mother Assault Carrier.

This ship was designed to be the primary aircraft carrier in any fleet guarded by a sky web. In fleets that lack the protection of a sky web it would take a secondary role to far larger carriers. Oh, and this is not for sale at the moment.

OOC: So this is basically a request for any critiques. Thanks in advance.

The days of the carrier having to be involved in a gun battle have long been gone since the Second World War, I don't believe you need the 5- and 3-inch guns or the torpedo launchers. A carrier should be designed to carry and launch aircraft, cluttering it up with guns and missile launchers just make it a much more expensive bomb magnet in a conflict zone.

Although the way it looks, it could be used the same way as an Amphibious Assault Ship would be, then it may be usefull to drop some of the weapons, add a few landing craft of any types and capacity for a battalion of Marines and you've got a pretty sound design (Similar to the US Navy Wasp- or Tarawa-class Amphibious Assault Ships), not as a stand-alone vessel (as anything that stands alone on the modern oceans in a fight is sure to lose), but as part of a group to land an entire division at once. As well, if you change around the air assets, add a few VSTOL aircraft for close air support for landings or go all the way and follow the design of the Royal Navy Invincible-class VSTOL Carrier.

OOC: Thanks for the ideas. I am not sure I want it to be a Amphibious Assault Ship, however. I really am trying to go for a carrier that has a decent amount of helecopters on board, there cant be any planes for classified reasons. Maybe I should say I am going for a cruiser that has a bit of aircraft on board as well. Anyway, thanks again for the critique. Keep em coming! :)
