To bring up to speed.
Whittier and Vineyard were holding joint military exercises in eastern Iran.
Due to a slight cooling of relations between the two nation's governments, with Vineyard not trusting Whittier and vice versa, when it became clear that whittier troops would be required to foot march to their objectives, Vineyard has his men invade Afghan by chopper.
Vineyard was suspicious that Whittier was attempting to outflank them and with the new, unannounced moves by Vineyard forces from Whittier territory to Martollean territory, Whittier's government became concerned about a flanking manuever by Vineyard. Hence, Whittier began deploying forces to Aghanistan and to Turkmenistan to seize those lands before the Vineyardians could, a great land dash if you would. Think of the Europeans race to grab african land during the late 19th to early 20th centuries.
So basically Whittier and Vineyard are in a race to see who can conquer Martollean lands in Central Asia.

Vineyard has 50,000 troops in Afghanistan.

Whittier has 1 infantry brigade, and the 5th infantry brigade in the area.
Also, C141's were dropping airborne troops in the area.

The action thus far:
Preparation:
A. Whittier: The First Infantry Brigade began digging in near the Afghan border this morning, while their opponents from the 5th Infantry dug in further south, close to the Pakistani border. Once the Vineyard contingent arrived the land phase of the exercise would begin.
In the air, the air exercise was under way as AWACs patrolled the skies and C141s dropped air borne troops from the air to the ground as the Whittier Army practiced air dropping and air assault operations.
Meantime, the several of the AWAC's discretely "peeked" into Afghan airspace. Further south, a lone E-3 peeked into Pakistani airspace.

B: Vineyard: -TELEGRAM TO WHITTIER-

We only have 50,000 available troops in the area friend. But they will come.

-Lord vineyard II

C. Whittier: The troops of 1st Brigade began moving southward through the mountainous terrain of East Afghanistan. The 1st was playing the role of invader.
The going was extremely slow. And they weren't allowed to use personnel carriers. They were required to march the entire way. The SOP was that they were to march no less than 10 miles on foot by the end of the day. Marching with 125 lbs on your back was bad enough. Doing it with a rifle, training equipment and through mountainous terrain that was both steep and dangerous at some points.
Those who passed out during the march were pulled from the exercise.
They had begun at Bojnurd and were to march to and assault the opposing force at Zahedan, way to the south. By the end of the first day, half the troops had blisters due to them never having even walked that far before. Because it took so long to do the first 10 miles, they had to set up camp in the dark at 930pm. But then they had to be back up at 330 AM. But at least it was uneventful, none of the snipers or ambushers had popped up yet.

D. Vineyard: The Vineyardian Brig. Gen peered through his Binoculars. Apparently, the whittierians were going on foot. He had a different Idea. He would use Aromored Personal Carriers to go through Afgan by the way of roads. During his trip, he planned to blitz the divided warlords and smash into their lands, crushing them. The roads were heavily guarded, but his men had seen enough comabt to spot an ambush before it was sprung. He took the Binoculars from his eyes and using his index finger, waved it in the air in a tight gloved circle. the men saw their copmmander's signal from the top of his ZMG and loaded up. They were dressed warmly, as the mountains were bound to be cold... not to mention the desert. Sure, everyone thought it was hot, but at night time, it was as cold as it is hot during the day. The 50,000 troop detachment set off on a dusty road to attract the attention of the Afgan Gov't and the warlords to divert them from the Whittiers.

E. Whittier: The courier stepped out of the jeep at the Vineyardian Encampment. In his hands held the list of supplies that were being given the Vineyardians for the exercise:
2 million MRE's
1,000 Portable Latrines (can be used by up to 25 people at a time and takes 2 hours for 2 people to set up)
120,000 gallons of water

The War Begins

1. Whittier: The 10 AWACs simultaneously turned north toward Afghanistan to peek in on that nation.

Meantime, at airfields around Iran, 15,500 troops began boarding C141's. The loading of the fully armed troops, with live rounds, took 4 hours. Once in the air, they all flew toward a common destination, Afghanistan.
Meantime the first and second armored divisions suddenly broke from the training exercise and crossed into Afghan territory.
Meantime, 10,000 SU-25's took to the air and began pounding targets inside Martollean owned Afghanistan.
The C141's were escorted by 10,000 of Whittier's IL-102s.
In the Indian Ocean, the UPR subs fired their Tomahawk II supersonic stealth cruise missiles. A total of 50 missiles were fired.

Conditions over Kandahar as the UPR forces flew in from the air:
The humidity was at 87%
Visibility was 4 miles
Windspeed was 58mph and coming from the southeast.

Within an hour of crossing over into Afghanistan, the troops landed safely and began besieging the city of Kandahar.

2 Whittier:Official Telegram to Martollea:
From the Union of People's Republics

Text:
The UPR, condemns the barbarism of your evil regime and your cruel mistreatment of the Afghan people, a people living in a land that is an important historical part of Iran.
Therefore, we demand that you hand Afghanistan over or face the total obliteration of your nation. We further demand that you hand over Turkmenistan at once.

3. Whittier: The 75th Infantry battalion has crossed from Iran into Turkmenistan.

4. Vineyard: The Vineyardian Commander stared blankly at the list. It said exersize. He looked up at the Afgan mountains. Soo close, yet so far away. Unless...

"We thank your gov't for its contribution. But this isn't an exersize. We intend to Conquer Afganistan"

The commander smiled to himself. Conquering Afgan with 50,000 men is the kind of thing that get's you promoted, and gives you a large land grant. Not to mention the salary for a distinguished general. Suddenly, obediance to Lord Vineyard II became greed. He wanted, nay, needed Afganistan!

6. Whittier:
Just remember that Afghan is extremely mountainous and the going is going to be pretty slow, even in tanks, IFV, and personnel carriers.

IC: As the last of the UPR paratroopers left the door, of the last C141, the C141's turned back to Iran to refuel and take up more soldiers. This time, 20,000 regular troops would board the planes. It would take 6 hours.

This was where the rp left off two rl weeks ago when I had to go somewhere. Now since we moved back to NS, we pick up from here. I have tgd Martollea as he still hasn't responded to the attack and its been 2.5 weeks.

President Thor watched the proceedings from his viewscreen. He smiled.

"General Rotterdam."

A tallman walked forward. His blue uniform was crisp. Three stars were pinned to the collars on his shirt.

"General Rotterdam reporting as ordered sir."

"General. We are upgrading to Defcon 1. Put our banshee and thunderchief pilots in the air.Tell them they'll recieve their orders midflight. Alert the airborne units tell them that the jump is on until further notice"

"What about our naval or land forces sir?" The general asked

"Place them on standby."

"What's the status of the Carrier groups Loki and Achilees?"

a technician turned adn faced the president "300 miles out sir."

"Good. General. Tell Admrial Odin to put hsi pilots on standby."

"If I may ask why sir?"

"I've decided to start operation tomahawk. I'm mobilizing as a mere precaution."

The general saluted and scurried out of the room.

Thor stood there for a moment then lookaed at one of the control technions

"Split screen. Status of situation and status of mobilization."

"Yes sir."

"Open a channel to Whittier"

"Yes sir"

Presidnet Thor sighed and waited and hoped

OOC: Are you an earth V nation? If so, have you read the Earth V rules on the limits of tech?

ooc: nevermind, this rp never happened. The other guys is actually claiming this is a personal attack cause I invaded his territory. If someone can see the connection between invading someone's land and attacking them personally, please enlighten me.
