OOC: By the scale of the whole FC situation, this little 'argument' has escalated into an NS World War. Nations are taking sides, in HUGE numbers, both for and against. It would appear that the one spark of Nuclear Weapons, just like the assassination of that old guy in 1914, has managed to cause NS RPers to enter into this overblown battle.

Well, Trolsk is in a position to fully declare aggresive neutrality. ANY nation entering within 100 Km of Trolskian land by sea without permission beforehand will be set upon by the Empire's Navy, Nuclear arsenals of about 150 strength, are ready to counter any attacks on, or even near Trolsk. We will NOT be allowing ANY forces to move through Trolskian lands to invade any other regions by ground forces. Any small Nations blessed to be 'land locked' by Trolskian borders from either side, and wish to remain neutral will be assured that Trolsk will defend them aswell. We will not tolerate the war on our doorstep..

you are aware that Earth II rules do not prevent earth II nations from RPing within the nationstates community? The rules only say you cannot participate in another RL earth rp.

Hehe, out gunned in your perspective. You can't outgun a nation crazy enough to nuke your fleets back to the stone age.

Quite so.

However, there are many commonly-held and generally acknowledged standards. The extraterritoriality of Embassies and the 12-nautical-mile territorial limit are two of these standards which His Omniferocity respects and recognizes, among others.

For the record, the Dominion refuses to acknowledge any national claims extending beyond 12 nautical miles (although we do accept economic exclusion zones extending to 200 nautical miles) or above 40 kilometers altitude. During past times of crisis, His Omniferocity's government has accepted temporary exclusions of foreign warships from areas near a belligerent's national waters, provided the rights of neutral shipping are observed and the "normal" state of affairs is quickly restored.

Ya'know, not moving a fleet in there, looking very threatening, would have prevented such with casual ease.

But won't some International laws apply to a point. People are gonna break the Geneva Convention, but you'd limit it to troops not civilians.

I'm just worried about the flaming and how old allies will fall apart.

I could say something about old fogies...but this doesn't sound like a World War this sound more like an old FiK or Bisons noob hunt.

Really I think the collapse of the Ur led attack against Melkor and the massive bitchfest that resulted showed that NS was incapable of a large war anymore. I mean we had two respected NS players all but pissing on each other and unable to reliably deal with OOC mechanics.

Well it was a massive war with three cocurrent fronts, and it acutally was just ignored out of existance. But it is a good warning to young nations who want to go off and have a large war.
