KNN Special Broadcast

After sixteen years of rule, President Jack Kordo II was declared dead today, killed after a task force of freedom fighters from the Red Hand attempted to place him under arrest. While there has been no independent conformation of this Mary Kordo, his daughter and long time supporter of the communist movement, has issued a statement verifying this claim. All attempts to reach his son have not succeeded.

With the death of the President it seems that the last vestiges of the old oppressive regime have been defeated. As word spread throughout the country, reports of mass surrenders of Loyalist troops have been reported along with reports of dancing in the streets in several communist-held territories. Their still has been however, no reports of an official surrender by former Senior Presidential Advisor

In related news, Richard Jo’ha, leader of the Red Hand which now controls ninety-five percent of the nation, has been officially nominated by the ruling party as the first Premier of Kordo. One top party official said that not one party official has so far raised any opposition to this move. If he is elected, it will give a much needed boost in international credibility to the Red Hand which recently declared itself “The Ruler of all of Kordo.”

Richard Jo’ha, now Premier Jo’ha and leader of Kordo turned off the TV. The broadcast gave a much cheerier picture of his situation than the reports on his desk did. The Red Hand was stretched thin, having to rely of personnel of questionable loyalty mostly because they couldn’t afford to get rid of them. Luckily the Loyalists army had given up the fight, if not officially. But that was not his main concern. His main concern was Rick Kordo, the son and ardent supporter of the former president. Only he had the power and influence to cause a real problem for the Red Hand.

"General Rotterdam."

A tallman walked forward. His blue uniform was crisp. Three stars were pinned to the collars on his shirt.

"What about our naval or land forces sir?" The general asked

The general saluted and scurried out of the room.

Premier Richard Jo'ha as shaken from a deep sleep. "This better be good Private." He muttered, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"We're getting a message from a President Thor sir. Acording to computers he is the leader of a small nation called Legionaire."

"Very well, rout his call to my private line." Richard picked up the phone, "Yes?"

Message to the current person in charge of the Loyalist Army,
I sympathize with your cause; you should dare not bow to the communist beasts. Allow me to introduce myself; I am Dread Lord Bane, supreme ruler of the Dracun Imperium. I pledge my support to you. As we speak I am taking forces from a defense of my country and putting them on course with your nation, they shall arrive soon and when they do... you may begin a revolt.

And sure enough, Bane's word held true. Over a hundred thousand troops were being prepared to invade Kordo and help bring back the former right-wing government. They would be under the infamous commander, Commander Reez. His tactics of brutality are well known within the high circle of the Dracun Government, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Rick Kordo, leader of the loyalist forces, looked over the reports. On paper at least, he had nearly one hundred thousand regulars, and nearly two hundred thousand militia men. In reality, his men were under equiped and poorly fed, many with little or no combat experience or military training. For the most part, only their fanatical loyality to the cause kept them fighting when their more experienced breathern surrendered or were killed. Most of the experienced, well-trained troops were living in hiding or had just deserted, unwilling to fight unless things got better. Hopefully the troops from Dracun Imperium would help, and with luck and (if the Dracun Imperium brought any) more fuel and missiles for the massive, if under supplied navy, they might be able to at least control parts of the nation one day, if not control all of it again. Rick was cautiously optimistic. He had learned from his father's experiences that even the best laid plans could go horrible wrong. It had cost his father his life. Rick had no plans on following that particular path.

Generalissimo J.L. had not wept this much since the death of his first wife, Eva. Tears flooded his eyes, his chest hitched with sobs, his heart ached as if afflicted with the world's most cataclysmic myocardial infarction, his labored breathing came in short, unsteady bursts and quick, breathless, ragged gasps. His body shook uncontrollably, spasmodically, as if he were suffering from Parkinson's. His eyes stung. His head hung low, he breathed only one word, barely audible: "Jack..."

Former Senior Presidential Advisor Henry Rey rubbed his eyes. He had just been flown under the cover of darkness to this remote Kordoan island to meet with the new leader of the Loyalist forces, to discuss the current situation. Rick Kordo poured Henry some more coffee.

“You look tired Henry, how have you been?” Rick asked, concern for this long time family friend plain in his voice.

“Things have been better Rick, that’s for sure. Kevin Lotam managed to keep most of the fleet together after word of your fathers death reached it, but until he gets more supplies, he won’t be able to risk doing much. But I’m sure you know all that. Why did you call me here?”

Rick sighed. “I’m going to have to ask you to leave Kordo territories. Go to Roach-Busters or the Borman Empire, or hell anyone who will offer you asylum. We can’t risk losing you, you know to much to take that risk.”

“Why do I have a feeling that this isn’t a request and more of an order?” Henry retorted.

“I won’t make you leave, I can’t. But I do have influence with the Royal Guards who are charged with protecting you.” Rick stated.

“Is that a threat?” asked Henry

“Merely a fact of life Henry, nothing more.”

Comrade General Vladimir Reidy of the Red Brigade read the newspaper the private handed him. He sighed as he read word of anti-socialist governments possibly his own were considering reinstating the corrupt right-wing government. He was disgusted by this. He picked up his phone and called friends in the Leafanistan Protection Forces, he wondered how many cargo trucks he could buy without flying too big a red flag.

4 hours later: Leafanistan port city of Jacksouer. Pier 14: Operation: "Corporate Aid"

The Red Brigade soldiers inspected the trucks for bugs, none found, they relaxed a bit. Soon they'll load up the fruit and vegatables into them. One of them would be carrying a Red Mercury Thermonuclear Microbomb (2 kiloton yield). Not a single soldier knew which truck contained it. It didnt' matter, all of them just wanted one thing, socialism to reign supreme; and they would die to achieve this goal.

Press Conference in Leafanistan Capital City: Concord

"With the chaos in Kordo, several companies have decided to lend aid to the people of the nation. Several trucks will leave today filled with fruits, vegatables, and medical supplies to areas of Kordo occupied by the loyalist supporters. They'll bring much needed help to the civilians caught in the chaos."

The traitor waved to the press as he stepped off the podium. He then took out a pre-paid cellphone and dialed Comrade General to report he suceeded. After he finished the phone call he threw the phone into the garbage can next to him. He then walked out of the building and into a limo that would whisk him away to Hebrides Islandia where he would disappear again.

OOC: Good chance they'll get caught unless you decided that the box lalbed apples with a strange metal container in between the apples the size of 3 baseballs isn't worth looking at.

What is Red Mercury? http://chemistry.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=chemistry&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.prisonplanet.com%2Fanalysis_poovey_122602_redmerc.html

Red Mercury Nuke would be extremly hard to detect. An extremly sensitive Gieger counter is needed to notice that one of hte trucks is slightly more irradiated than the rest, and it may fall under the range of "negligable difference".

President Thor watched his forces move into their final positions. He turned and looked at his three commanders: General Rotterdam (Army/marines), General Loki (air force), Commander Jagger (Special Forces/Intelligence) and Adrimal Oslo(navy)

Thor stood there for a moment

"Gentelmen. The time has come. We Must secure Mr. Rey now before it is too late."

Major Skywalker reported

"Tomahawk is go."

Thor and his generals stood in silence.

"Maps on screen."

"Yes sir"

There was a cacling of keys and the view screen split. On the left side was a chart of all the units engaging. On the right was a radar that showed the position of all the units.

****time break. 4 Hours*****
"Sir. Our forces are at target." Major Skywalker shouted as he turned and looked at his President and the Commanders

"On screen. "

Thor watched as 50 small blue dots(symbolizing Thor's air units) and 10 green dots (helicopters) on the screen drew closer to the map that showed the city. The blue dots split again into 10 smaller dots. Thor's air force was splitting into the smaller sub units. From there they would engange the enemy.

"Who is closest?"

"Uh. I believe its Major Odin's unit, the Wolf Pack."

"On screen."

Thor watched as 10 Thunderchief Fighter planes stormed into the screen. Thor listened to the pilot's chatter. In the main screen a series of AA batteries could be seen.

"Contact. Enemy closing in. Bearing 0-2-0-niner. Pick up a target and get locked."

Thor waited for the beeping sound symbolizing, a lock. The planes were about 100 yards out and closing fast.

"Alert the pilots that they are only to graze the AA batteries and not to open fire unless fired upon."

Major skywalker nodded and relayed the order

"Guys. I've just been told that we are not to open fire unless they shoot first. We are to graze the AA cannons. Break your locks but keep the course."

Then, all hell broke loose.

Thor watched on the screen as the Thunderchiefs screamed over the AA batteries. Suddnley small alarms were going off and the radio chatter increased. Thor looked at the screen. His pilots were being shot at by AA cannons.

"Those sons of bitches are firing at us" He growled

***The City***
No sooner had Ensign Strrauss, callsign "Gladiator", cleared the AA battery than had he felt a large explosion rock his jet. He was quickly loosing control of his aircraft and was desperate to bail out of his jet. His plane rocked again. This time, Strrauss felt a woosh of air followed by a burning sensation. He screamed in pain. His screams did not last long, as his jet collided with the side of a building.

**Command Center***

The planes on the status screen were flashing. At least one plane had been shot down. Thor watched in horror as two more Thunderchiefs went red. Thor looked back at the screen. His pilots had certanily starteled the unitss but he had lost 3 planes in the process.

General Rotterdam walked up to Thor

"Sir. Our Gremlins are over the DZ and are waiting for orders"

"Have them jump. Tell them to procede with their orders."

"Yes sir."

Thor looked back at the screen.

Thor frowned. 3 jets he thought to himself. That's 3 dead. The battle had just started and he already had casulties. He shuddered to think what his army casulties would be if he lost 3 jets.

****The City****

As the helicopters moved overhead, AA shots and small arms fire tore the sky apart. Inside a Valkarie hellicopter, callsign Seminole 1, Major. Barrak "Beserker" Stockholm stared at the red light near the front of the helicopter. He was in the Gremlin corps, an elite millitary unit and his orders were to drop into the city and to find Mr.Rey. He looked at the city below. Some parts were ruins some parts stood normally. He found the reports he had heard about the city hard to believe. He looked at the men in his copter. They were all dressed in black and grey Urban camoflauge. They had black boots, gloves and balcava. They wore black M1 ballistic helmets. with Night Vison goggles attached to them. They had small black ALICE packs on their backs and they straddeled H&K 505's. Some men wore ammo pouches strapped to their legs or belt. Soem men carried medi packs in their bags.

The light suddnley turned green and the chopper slowed down. Each man moved to the two doors on either side. The men formed 5 lines. Each man at the front grabbed a black rope. The doors flew open, exposing the men to fire and one by one each man grabbed the rope and dropped to the rooftop of a small building. Major Stockholm looked around and watched the saem event unfold on similar buildings. Above him the chopper whirrled away. Without saying a word, he motioned to his men to follow him. They snaked to a rooftop door and split into two lines. Stockholm adjusted his headset.

"Alright men, lets pop the weasel."

Seargent Luger snaked forward and crouched next to the door. He pulled out a breach charge and placed it on the door frame. His efforts were cut short by a single bullet and the man was dead before he hit the ground everyone ducked.

"Sniper!" someone shouted

Stockholm raced to attach the charge to the door. He finially attached it and handed it to a man behind him. He signaled to the man on the other side of the door. "flash and a smoke then its party time." The man nodded. Stockholm reached back and squeezed the thigh of the man behind him. Each man repead the action. At the end of the line the man squeezed the shoulder of the man infront of him. When Stockholm felt the squeeze he shouted into his radio

"go!"

A small boom followed. Stockholm adn the man on the other side of the door tossed two grenades in. There was a bang and a trail of smoke. Stockholm rushed through the door and each man in his line followed him.

***control room***

"Update"

Commander Jagger spoke up from his screen

"Sir. Our Gremlins are go. "

"Rotterdam?"

"Forces are ready to move"

"Loki?"

"We've lost 5 Thunderchiefs, 3 banshees and 1 Valkyrie. Thats 28 people."

"Oslo?"

"Carrier groups Viking and Stockholm are in theater and are standing by."

"Good."

Thor sighed. It looked as if his first wave had been effective.

"I don't like it Han." Major Stockholm said whiel looking at a map. "I mean I thingk we're in the right area."

Major Vogel nodded, "Well, if our intel is up to date than he should be in the building infront of us. The Murdoch House.

Stockholm nodded "Best we get going then."

Stockholm spoke up

"Alright. We'removing across the street to the Murdoch house. On my orders Vogel's unit will advance first followed by mine. Then, we'll search again. Any questions?"

Silence

"Lets move."

Vogel lead his team to the door. Go he shouted. Stockholm watched as his men ran actross the street.

POP! POP! POP!

Stockholm watched two men fall to the ground

"man down! man down!"

Fuck.

Vogel eventually reached the otherside and had taken cover. Stockholm nodded and his forces raced across the street. Hopping not to get hit. Teh men reached the otherside in relative saftey.

'What now Vogel asked?"

"Now, we enter the building."

ooc: crap, sorry but appearently last nights post didn't get posted for some reason so here is an abriged version, oh and try to remember not to RP my loses, only your own:

IC:
Henry Rey was drinking tea with Professor Murdoch, an old friend and guardian of this particular safe house, when reports of the attacks came in. For the most part the enemy had hit the decoy bases, but several of the attacks had hit straight and true, one such attack leaving two dozen dead.

Suddenly and without warning, gunfire erupted down the street and two guards ran into the library in which Henry was sitting.

“Enemy forces have been sighted in the area sir; if we want to escape we’re going to have to leave soon.” announced one of the guards.

“Very well, come on Professor Murdoch, you might as well come, there probably won’t be much of this house left after the fighting anyway.” Henry replied.

The group headed to the attic which, like many of the row houses in this former smuggling town were connected. From there they would go down several house to a new house under which was a tunnel leading to the edge of the small city. The loyalist forces took special care when choosing safe houses for their leaders and this was no exception.

As they headed upstairs, Henry saw two young men, chosen for their blind loyalty, being strapped with explosives. Henry disliked wasting men like those for they were hard to come by, but do to the nature Henry supposed the cost was worth it. As they moved through the attics of the row houses, Henry heard two explosions in rapid succession, and a hole appeared were their safe house was.

OCC: the dead soldiers were my men.

Major Stockholmn and his fire teams coruched outside the house

Stockholm pressed his hand to his ear and listend to a report from a spotter who was watching the building from accross the way.

"Seal 1 this is eye in the sky 8. We just saw a guy strap explosives to himself.

"Fuck. What about Professor Murdoch?"

"We haven't seen him sir."

"Do you have a shot."

"No sir."

BOOM!

A section of the house blew up.

MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!

Major Stockholm was dazed. An explosion had just gone off. HE turned around and was that some of his men were dead, their bloodied corpses lying prone in the position they had been in seconds before.

"Major Stockholm Majoe Stockholm"

A layer fo smoek and dust setteled over the house

"Pull back"

Stockholm did his best to escape to the other building. HE took cover behind a brick wall.

"Major Vogel" Stockholm shouted, his voice hearse from the explosion

"Major Stockholnm."

Major Vogel crawled next to Major Stockholm

"How many men did we loose"

"10."

Stockholm thought for a second. He then shouted down the line

"Seargent Straego"

A seargent crawled forward. A radio was strapped to his back

"Sir Seargent Stratego reportign sir"

Stockholm took the radio in his hand

"Valkayrie 1 Valkayrie 1 this is Seal 1 requesting immedeate fire support."

Major Vogel took out a piece of equipment and placed it on the wall.

"Uploadign coridantes now. I am requesting a carpet bomb of the eastern block. Two suicide bombers just took ou t10 of my men an dwe are taking fire from the surrounding buildings."

"Rodger that Seal 1. Thunderbirds are on route."

"Thanks Valk."

***skies above the city***

Captain Flash sat in the cockpit of his Thunderchief fighter plane.

"Alright guys. New orders. Hanoi bombing run. Coridnates are beign uploaded."

The pilots drew closer and closer to their target They changed formation and formed a colum.

"Gentlemen, lets plow the road"

Flash flicked a switch on his control panal and a serise of bombs dropped from his jet as he raced over the buildings. The buildings, which were being attacked by Napalm, were burning quickly. After making a pass, Stockholm looked behind him. The entire row of houses was burning. Off in the distance Flash coul dsee a group o fmen leaving a tunnel/ Flash switched to machine guns and sprayed the area.

***the streets***

Majro Stockholm watched the raid in horror. All of the homes were on fire. Stockholm heard the whirring of helicopter blades and was overjoyed.

"Major Stockholm?" The piolot asked as the unit crawled into the chopper

"Yes?"

"I hav a message for you. This coming straight from the top, we found Proffeessor Murdoch's location. I'm supposed to brng you there to pick him up."

"How far out is he?"

"Not far. One of our jets saw a group of people fleeing and took soem shots at em."

"Are they dead?"

" I don't know sir. I do know though, that the fightign is getting fiercer."

Moments later the aircraft that had just destroyed the buidings behind them came in for a straffing run, hitting one of the guards. As quickly as he was knocked down, he was hauled up again, this time by a different guard.

"Wheres.....?" Began Henry as he saw the other member of his team, a bulet in his arm and leg.

"He'll be fine sir, keep going." replied the new commander of the detail.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The gaurds fell around as snipers bullets one by one took the soldiers out of the equation. The whirring of a helicopter roared over head and suddnely a small black helicopter appeared out of nowhere. Major Stockholm and Major Vogel watched the helicopter hover overhead

"Mongoose 1 is go"

Stockholm and his men poped up around the two men their guns arimed at them. The black helicopter began to land.

"Mr. Rey, Proffessor Murdoch. Major Stockholm Legionaire, I;ve been sent to evacuate you two to a safe location. More sniper shots errupted. Two of Stockholm's men went down.

"Get them to the chopper"

Two of stockholm's soldiers lead the two suprised officials to the black helicopter. The chopper than took off and headed into the sky. Major Stockholm looke dat the two men.

"I'm sorry if I scared you two. We've been trailing you two for quite a while."

Proffessor Murdoch eyed the man

"Did your men kill those gaurds"?

"No sir. If our soldiers had been doign the sniping you'd be lying on the middle of the road"

"Then who..."

"I don't know sir"

"Where are you taking us?"

"USS Achilees. You two been granted asylum in Legionaire."

Rey was suprised

"What will you and your men do once you drop us off?"

Stockholm siged

"Head back into battle. Theres still alot of city left to pacify."

"Then why all the air strikes?"

"I don't know sir. I just don't know"

Major Stockholm looked out the window and reflected on the calm

A. You offered support to Richard Jo'ha the communist leader of Kordo

Either your playing both sides or just confused?

Rick Kordo rubbed his eyes. First Rey disapears, believed to be taken by Legionaire, and then discovering that Legionaire had contacted the communist government. Right now Rick wasn't sure who to trust. Every day more of his troops left his army, not neccessarily do to a change in political beliefs but because they were sick of war. If something major didn't happen in support of the Loyalist cause the conflict could end badly for them.

"Commencing opperation, over and out" whispered comander Stukovich, as he and his squad of 11 other men approached the Rightist military base. They had snuck through the city at night, taking extra caution not to be caught.

However, those efforts had almost been layed to waste, when enemy Rightist snipers spotted and opened fire on the Genoslovakian squad.

:sniper: :sniper: :sniper:

3 of the Genos soldiers dropped to the ground, and another one was seveerly wounded from the surprise ambush, but it didn't take long for the elite military quad to return fire. The firefight went on for about 10 minutes, and in the end, all 5 of the snipers had been killed, but at the cost of 6 of his men. Commander Stukovich pondered on whether to continue the mission with so few men, but he soon came to realize that if Genoslovakia were to erupt into a country of political unrest, his Communist comrades would come to help him no matter the cost.

And so the squad continued on it's mission to effectiely sabotage a military operation in planning.

***Onboard USS Achilees***

Major Barrak Stockholm stood on the lower deck of the USS Achilees. His M-1 balistic helmet was still on his head and he straddeled a new M-16. He and the rest of the gremlins had been granted temporary leave. He and his men ha djust returned from an successfull mission. A mission that had left 15 of his men lying on the streets. In between the roar of F-14 tomcats taking off and landing of the carrier, Stockholm listened to his men chatter.

"Is there a Major Barrak Stockholm in here?"

Major Stockholm turned around and saw a young faced sailor look around the room in confusion.

"Right here"

The sailor walked up to the major, saluted, and handed him a document. Stockholm looked at the notice and nodded to the sailor who lead him out of the room.

***Command Center USS Achilees***

Major Stockholm thanked the sailor and walked into the room. He noticed 3 men leaning over a table. One of the men, Adrimal Burton turned around and returned Stockholm's salute.

"Gentlemen this is Major Barrack Stockholm, Gremlin Corps."

"Major this is General Sheapard and General Ford."

"Nice to meet you two."

The two men smiled and Adrimal Burton turned back to the map.

"A second offensive is being mounted in the city. This one will be alot longer than the last offensive was. Major Stockholm, you and your company will strike first and wait for the armor and infantry that will be making a landing here. Two ghost striker fly overs have discovered that the forces inside are regrouping and preparing for a large offensive. Stockholm, I want that city secured. Have your men get ready to fight. You depart in an hour. Dismissed"

"Yes sir." Stockholm turned and began to walk out of the room.

"Major Stockholm wait a second."

Stockholm stood in the hallway and stopped.

"Sir?"

The three officers stood around Stockholm.

"Command was impressed with the success of your mission and has seen fit to reward you with a promotion."

Adrimal Burton pulled out a small box and handed it to Major Stockholm. Inside the box were two small silver eagles.

"Ordinarilly, I wouldn't be doing this. But consedering that I'm the highest in command in the theater its my responsibility to do stuff like this" Adrimal Burton said as he pinned the silver eagels on to the collar of Stockholm's uniform. "Congratulations Commander"

"Sir thank you sir"

Just then a single bullet rang out on the ship

Stockholm was starteled. Why would anyone be firing a handgun on an aircraft carrier

"What was that?"

" I wouldn't worry about it Commander."

"It sounded like it came from the stateromms." Commander Stockholm's mouth opened in horror as he thought what had happened.

General Ford looked at him with steely eyes

"I know what you're thinking Commander. I recomend that you forget about it. We can not afford the press to learn about it."

The three Officers walked back into the cointrol room. Stockholm stood there thinking about what had happened. He shook his head and walked down the hallway.

Admiral Kevin Lotam, head of the Loyalist navy, shook his head in confusion. Reports from the ground reported that Henry Rey had been abducted by via troops landed by the air. Yet the only aircraft in that area were from Legionaire. Why they would try to take Henry by force, Kevin didn’t know. According to radar, the aircraft had headed…

“Here” said Kevin to his aides. “This is where we should find the Legionaire ships and Henry Rey.

“What’s the plan of attack?” asked one of the aids.

“Lets see if we can find out what happened first, so no aircraft besides the usual CAP (combat air patrol). But I still want the rest of the aircraft prepped and ready to go and all ships to have their weapons armed and ready. This may be some sort of misunderstanding but if they don’t turn him over to us so we can assure he is alright before he goes into exile, I will not hesitate to use deadly force on their ships until they turn him over or are entirely destroyed.” replied Kevin.

“Yes sir!” replied the aids in unison, all moving to prepare the fleet for possible action.

Kevin rubbed his eyes. He had the largest of the of the three combined loyalist fleets with him but navel actions in the modern age were still bloody affairs. He dearly hoped Legionaire would be able to turn Henry over unharmed, before they took him to their homeland for his exile, or heaven forbid killed him.

"Very Well," replied Kevin "Order them to continue to mirror the aircraft until reinforcements arrive. Then order Weimer to launch four fighters to take up the mirroring. Then tell my senior staff to meet me in the planning room, or if their off ship, arrange for them to be video conferenced in."

"Yes sir!"

"Well gentlemen and ladies, what’s the situation?” Kevin asked.

“According to reports we have so far, besides the aircraft they have taken little precautions to prevent an attack.” reported his second in command Rufus Folds, “We cannot rule out the possibility of submarines however and I recommend increasing the amount of patrols for them.”

“Make it so. What are your ideas on why they only launched two aircraft?” replied Kevin.

“We are unsure of the weapons composition; however, they’re probably heavy hitters as we call ‘em in the air force.” Announced the air force advisor “This means their probably armed with WMD’s or EMP bombs. We can probably rule out biological and chemical weapons, they wouldn’t be effective against a spread out fleet like this. Nuclear weapons and EMP bombs are another story. Simulations we’ve run based on the F-14’s weight capacity shows significant damage if they are armed with either. I suggest we step up air patrols and make sure our anti-missile batteries are ready.”

“Increase the amount of aircraft to your discretion but tell them to keep their distance. I don’t want to spook them.” Ordered Kevin. “I’m going to try to contact the Legionaire fleet.”

Several dozen C-50's flew overhead. Each carried 200 Legionaire paratroopers. Inside Zeus-1 Commander Antilees stood near the rear ramp. The cargo hold was lit in a red light. Each paratrooper was standing and had was checking the equipment of the man infront of him. The light turned green and the paratroopers jumped out of the aircraft. The skies were clear and they drifted towards the ground. Upon landign they cut their chutes and marched towards the city. Above them five low flying A-4 Spitfires raced towards the city. Ahead of them they could hear several booms and the eruptign of gunfire. The gremlin corps had been deployed ahead of them and were clearing the city. The airborn stood their ground and waited for the armor to catch up to them.

***Kordo Capital***

Commander Stockholm crouched on the roof of one of the buildings. Stockholm and Command Seargent Willams looked at a small map.

"Right now we're here. On the outskirts of town. From here we move north towards the industrial district. Basic recon has noted that the area has few soldiers. However, several of the streets have machine gun bunkers in crossfire method so any assaults at the positions will lead our soldiers to be trapped." Seargent Willams noted as he traced hsi finger at the areas

Commander Stockholm looked at the map

"Cant we order an airstriketo take out the bunkers?"

"No sir, the poitions are out of reach of any airstrikes, including Spitfires"

"What about missile attack?"

"No sir. Command ants most of the area intact. A missile launch will take out the position but will endager the area. We'll just have to attack them ourselves."

Stockholm thought for a second.

"We have to take it building by building. I want our soldiers to be above theirs whenever possible. Move out."

"Perhaps if you would merely ask for us to turn Mr. Rey into the hands of your forces so that he may seek the asylum you offered him. Attacking your allies without warning is usually something that is discouraged in polite society, but I digress. As to the matter of you ships; as long as you plan on doing joint missions with Loyalist forces you will not target them nor will you have your weapons armed when along side Loyalist forces unless directly threatened. As to the matter of us being surrounded I would remind you in the age of missiles, direction means little to a navel ship. That is all.”

That will not only give us control of the docks allowingus to land more troops and to resupply them with much more ease, but it will put us reletivly near to the Legionare forces. I also suggest that the airforce step up their ground attack patrols, centering on the dock and industrial areas. The communist forces don't have much in the way of armour, but they do have plenty of defensive positions and bunkers. If we can take them out it will allow us to move more freely."

"What about Operation Berg?" Asked Kevin.

"I suggest it goes forward with some minor suggestions. I suggest that the commandos enter the government sector from the sewers which will allow them to move with less risk of detection. The Legioniare forces tipped off the enemy to our plans a little earlier then we wanted. Then they should continue on their way until they reach the Bundestag and Bundesrat buildings. "Go!"

The doro to the factory blew open and 5 soldiers stormed in and sweeped the rooms. Yells of clear echoed on the headsets. Commander Stockholm looked around. He was on th emain floor of an abandoned factory.

"Sir, you should come and take a look at this"

Stockholm walked towards the source of the sound. He entered the room and his jaw dropped. He looked around the room in shock. There were crates and crates of munitions. Of fin the corner two soldiers pried open a large crate adn one of the men pulled out a large .50 calliber machine gun. The second soldier lifted up arm fulls of ammunition belts.

"Sir" one of the men, Private Summers replied "this machine gun has markings of the new regime."

"Open these crates now" Stockholm barked. He pulled his headset close to him "Papa bear to baby bear. Open any and all crates you find and report back to me. We think that the communist regme might have a weapons stockpile." Stockholm watched as his men opened crate after crate. Each crate had weaopns in it. Machine guns, bazookas, rifles, mortars, anti tank weapons, ammunition.

"What do we do with it sir"

Stockholm paused. He called for reports and all of th efire squads reported the same findings. Weapons. He ordered the factories destroyed. He nodded to Specalist Kelso who took several explosives from his pack. He ordered them to be set. One they were set he orered the unit to evacuate to a safe palce. The men took refuge a few blocks away.

"Go"

There was a loud boom and a large cloud of smoke errupted from the area where the buildings once stood.

Master Chief Ares, the unit's senior nco walked to his commander.

"What now Stock"

Stockholm paused

"I don't know." He pulled out a map and laid it on the ground.

"We're here in the industry district" Stockholm pointed "We've sweeped all the area south of here."

"Whats this district here" Ares pointed to a green section of the map North/North West of the industrial section."

"That, is the goverment sector."

"Why don't we move there sir?"

"We could. But it's risky. Thats the heavyist area of the city. We can't just barge into the district un supported."

"Where is the land army?"

"An hour or so behind us"

"Why don't we wait for them?"

"We could. Except then we would be delayed. We're supposed to keep moving."

"What about moving south towards the docks?"

"Let the loyalists take that. We can't move south and then up again."

"Sir" Specalist Dack, one of the companies radio men walked forward "Message from Adrimal Burton. He wants to remind us that General Akbar wants us to take the Bundestag and Bundesrat buildings."

"Send this message back to Burton. Ask him to relay this message to Akbar: maybe later."

The radio man looked confused than nodded and moved back to his position.

Ares was confused, " What are the Bundestag and Bundesrat buildings?"

"Office buildings in the middle of the city. We'd have to go out of our way to get them."

"Oh."

"Well we can go there or we can move ahead into the goverment district. I'm leaning towards heading into the goverment district."

"What about those two buildings?"

"Use an EMP on them."

Stockholm called for a radio man and told him to ask Burton to use an EMP on the Bundestag and Bundesrat buildings. The man nodded and moved out.

"I guess we're going into the goverment district then stock'."

"Correct. Spread the word to the unit leaders. We move out in 2"

Sewers under the Government District

Without warning, Sergeant Jack Aubrey’s night vision goggles suddenly went dead. Swearing quietly to himself and motioning to his squad mates to wait a moment he checked the battery. One his second in command tapped him on his shoulder.

“Sir,” his second in command whispered, “We just lost the radio sir, and none of the other electronic equipment is working either.”

“Musta been an EMP, and a big one too sir.” volunteered the man in charge of the electronics.

“Ours or theirs though?” asked the Jack’s second in command.

“Legioniare’s. Their the only ones without troops in the areas meaning they’re the only ones who would benefit. Now quiet down and keep moving. No lights unless absolutely necessary. Lets move out.”

Bridge of the KS Glory

Admiral Kevin Lotam looked at the reports. The EMP had knocked out contact with the two assault groups, nearly forty men in total, heading towards the legislative buildings. Luckily, besides those forty men, very few other Loyalist troops had been in the area. The biggest casualties had been one the communist forces side.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As the men moved down the sewer, the sound of the communist forces grew louder, and the tunnel brighter. A Jack peered around the corner he saw the enemy; only about ten men, blissfully unaware of his men just around the corner.

Motioning to his men, he flipped his safety off and threw a stun grenade around the corner, quickly following it, firing all the way. Catching the enemy unaware, his men easily took them down and secured their base: the service entrance to the basement.

A few minutes later, the other half of his team arrived, bringing his team to its full strength of forty men. Heading up the service stairs that came from the ground floor, half his men one the northern most staircase and half on the southern most, he and his men reached the ground floor without avoiding detection. Nodding to his men, they burst into the lobby, firing as they went, the two teams meeting in the center as they spread out and headed towards the main staircase that would take them to the other levels.

Above the sewers Legionaire ,M1A1 Super Abrams tanks APC's and Bradley fighting viechils roared on the streets. They were moving at full throttle towards the goverment district. The legionaiure forces were making a dash towards the center of the district two thunderchiefs and a banshee roared over the force.

The tank jolted backwards as a tank round was expelled. A boom followed

"Splash tank 1"

A second boom followed

"Splash tank 2"

Hawk smiled, and the armor keeps rolling along he thought to himself

"Runner 1 to patriot 1"

"Patriot 1 here what can I do for ya?"

"Well, we're coming up on a fork. We can head towards parliment or we can head towards the palace. Personally I think we should go to the palace."

"Agreed. Slow your advance so I can set up crossfires."

"Rodger that"

"Patriot 1 to mongoose 1"

"You guys do that. I thought I heard soem gunshots coming from the parliment building. I'm settign up a watch team. We'll catch up you."

The crews of the various ships scurried to their posts. Onboard the carriers, pilots raced to their jets. The pilots in the active wings took off from the carrier and waited for orders.

**Kordo City**

Delta squad had gotten lost. They were goign in the right direction, but had lost sight of the main force.

"Freeze"

The 10 men in the company stopped. They watched as 25 Communist soldiers emerged from cover, completly surrounding the Legionaire squad.

"Drop your weapons"

The squad of soldiers dropped their weapons and put their hands in the air. Fearing for their lives.

The presidential compound fell with little effort. Commander Stockholm stood inside the building and watched as medics and corpsmen unloaded the dead and wounded soldiers from the APC's and carried them inside the building where a makeshift hospital had been set up. Stockholm counted 100 dead 250 wounded and 10 unaccounted for.

"Comamnder Stockholm sir?"

Stockholm turned around and looked at Command Seargent Solo, one of his ranking NCO's at least in Stockholm's mind a canidate for an Officer's commission.

"What can I do for you Luke?"

"We're about to fly the flag"

"Good. I want to watch it"

Stockholm followed Solo through the compound and on to the roof. The roof was armed with several AA cannons, a few SAM batteries, and a few cannons and moarters. Solo adn Stockholm walked to a flagpole where several men had surrounded. On top of the flag pole was the communist regime's flag. One of the men produced a small flag from his bag. Three of the men grabbed the rope and began lowering the flag. Stockholm removed the flag and heald on to it. The man holding the second flag, placed the flag on the rope. The three men lifted the rope and pulled the new flag up to the top of the flag post. The men paused for a moment thinking about what it had taken to get to thsi moment. Their silence was intreupted by the roar of jet engines. "What the hell is our Air Force doing? one of the soldiers asked as he looked at the planes racign overhead.

"Those planes aren't ours" Stockholm said, squinting up. It dawned on him "Those are communist." The men froze.

"INCOMING" one of the men shouted. The AA batteries began firing. The group of men at the flagpost scurried to a defensive position and opened fire. Bombs began falling in the city as communist jets rained hell. The Legionaire army had shot a few down but it wasn't enough

"'There have to be atleast 200 of them."
One man said as his .50 caliber machine gun shot out bullets

"Where's our air force"

"I don't know" Stockholm said "I just don't know"

**Skies above Kordo City**

The Legionaire Air Force was slow to respond. By the time their fighters were en route to the city, the communist jets had already reached it. Radar readings showed that there were about 180 planes, 50 more than Legionaire had in the air at that time. Each jet raced to find a target. Despite its slow response, Legionaire had an advatntage, more fuel and more missiles. The initial attack was a cakewalk and a 9 to 1 kill ratio was establashed. 40 communist jets had fallen and only 4 Legionaire jets had been destroyed. As the ari battle wore on though, more Legionaire jets began to fall. The loyalist Air Force was doing their best to fight in the battle along side Legionaire.

***Shangri-La AFB***

Wing Commander Picard stood in the command tent. He and several other high ranking officers were lookign at a map of Kordo, trying to find the location of the air force base where the communists had launched their jets.

"Sir, one of our army units has information on where the jets might have come from" Captain Bradley reported.

'Who was it?"

'Uh a Commander Stockholm sir, of the gremlin corps."

Picard turned and looked at Comander Bragg, who oversaw the Special Forces units in the war. Bragg was smiling.

Picard walked back to the map

"Well gentlemen, if Comamnder Stockholm is accurate as he thinks he is, this offensive could end very quickly and help secure the city. Stockholm is reporting that he saw the jets traveling south from the Presidential Compound"

Fleet Adrimal Morrison was confused

"How could he have seen the jets fly south from the compound. That's not possible."

Commander Bragg spoke up, "It is possible"

"How is it possible?"

"It's possible because our forces have taken the compound and asre holding it."

"If our army has control of th ecompound why haven't they reported it yet" Adrimal Morrison asked

"That's easy." Commadner Picard said, "If you had taken a major landmark that was important to your enemy an you knew they would be willing to die for it, wouldn't you be reluctant to report it over the raddio. Especially when there flying fighter planes over the area and can destroy the buildign with one missile?"

"Oh" Adrimal Morrison siad, looking down in defeat.

Commander Picard continued, "If the planes came from north of the compound, it would probably put them in this region here." Picard said pointing to a region of the map. "We should have some sort of recon of that area. The only thing is, I don't have any planes to spare."

Adrimal Morrison reported, "Neither do we. We could try to fly some drones over the area, have our Submarines pull a recon, or we could use Special Forces units to seach for it. That is, if we have any to spare."

Commander Bragg shook his head, "We don't all of the active soldiers are in the city adn our reserve forces, the ones in theater atleast are for emergency use only."

Bregadier General Scott shook his head, "Army is out of the question. We're still in the process of securing the city we can't spare any."

"Sir" Captain Bradley reported, "The communist air force is retreating."

Picaard looked at the officers who all nodded.

"Good. Have our jets try to follow them. This may be our chance to find the location of their air force base. Have our bombers ready to go. I want a casulty report"

A second comm officer spoek up "Well we shot down around 80 or so of their jets. We lost 28 Aircraft. Atleast 15 dead and atleast 10 ejections."

"Loyalist losses?"

"We don't know sir"

"Aright. Thank you."

**A Few weeks later**

Commander Stockholm stood at the window and looked into the courtyard. The communist regime's hold on the country was broken and loyalist forces began retaking power. Stockholm watched his men scurry around the compound loading various things onto trucks and helicopters. He bowed his head and thought about everything. 300 Legionaire soldiers had fallen and 650 had been wounded in the line of duty, al lof the Legionaire pow's had been returned. 125 medfals had been given out, mostly purple hearts and bronze stars and what not. Stockholm recieved a silver star and the distinguished service cross. Behind him the door opened and Captain Burton of Tiger company, Command Seargent Solo of Gremlin Corps, Master Chief Gates of the Legionaire SEAL detachment, and Captain Grissom of the 8th LAW walked in. They saluted stockholm and stood next to him all staring out of the window.

"It's amazing isn't it. How quickly the city fell?"

"Indeed it is sir." one of them responded

Commanding officer on"

The 5 officers turned aroudn and stood at attention. Four generals walked in and the NCO announcign them closed the door behind him as he left.

"At ease men" Fleet Adrimal Morison said. Next to him was Wing Commander Picard, Bregadier General Scott, and Group Commander Bragg. The 5 officers eased into attention.

"Each and everyone of us are proud of you and your men. However, this victory has its consequences as of this time, Commander Stockholm you are officially relieved of your command"

Commander Stockholm's sank. Command Seargent Burton and Master Chief Gates patted him on his back.

"Why the long face commander? You're going home"

"Sir, the commander wishes to know why he is the only one being relieved of his command and no one else is"

Commander Bragg nodded to Adrimal Morrison

"Commander, we're all going home. You are still retaining command of Gremlin corps."

"Why was I relieved then sir?"

"Because you are no longer in command of the fighting force. Command is beign given to each of the ranking officers in region. All of the field commanders are beign relieved. The control of the city has been given to the loyalists and subsequently we are no longer needed. Therefore we are going home."

Captain Grissom spoke up, "Sir what about Theba?"

"We are not sure. It is unlikely however that we will go there. Infact chances are that our forces will be pulling out there as well." Wing Commander Picard responded.

There was a loud roaring humming sound.

"That would be our helicopter" Bregadier General Scott said over the loud din. "Shall we"

The 9 men proceded for the exit. As the men walked down the corridors, Commander Stockholm and Group Commander Bragg had a small talk.

"Sir what happens to me now?"

"What do you mean Commander?"

"Well sir, isn't it traditional for Commanders to be taken out of combat units and placed on Command Staff?"

"Yes it is"

"Is that my future? Am I going to be pulled from my unit?"

"I can't answer that now. That may happen that may not."

"Sir one more thing, I was told that Command Seargent Solo was going to be issued a commission is that also true."

"Indeed it is. He will recieve his commission back on the Achilees."

"Thank you sir"

As he boarded the Valkyrie helicopter for what may be the last time, Commander Stockholm took one last look at Kordo City. Much of it was in ruins a few fires still burned. Commander Stockolm got in the helicopter and the helicopter took off and moved towards the Legionaire Fleet that was waiting offshore to take them back home. As the helicopter moved over the city, escorted by two A-4 Spitfires the 9 men sat in silence. Soem men stared straight ahead some men looked out into the city. As the helicopter moved, tears began rolling down Stockholm's cheeks. He tried to hide them but he noticed that he wasn't the only one holding back tears.

**Lockheed AFB/Port**

The helicopter carrign the 5 leaders was the first to land. All o fthem were dressed in their formal uniforms. Stockholm and the newly promoted Lieutenant Solo, dressed in navy blue pants with a red bloodstripe and tan formal shirts and white service caps were the first to get out of the helicopter. Greetign them were large cheering crowds. They waited for the rest of the Helicopter to empty. Following them was Master Chief Gates who was dressed in white pants, formal shirt and flight cap. Following Gates was Captain Grissom who was dressed in blue pants with a black bloodstripe, a formal blue shirt and a blue service cap and Captain Burton who was dressed in olive drab pants with a black bloodstripe, a formal olive drab shirt and service cap. Together the 5 men walked into the crowd. Their lives rushed to them and embracerd them in hugs as the rest of the helicopters landed and the soldiers in the helicopters emptied out. Behind the helicopters, the crews of the naval ships were disembarking from their ships, above the procedings 5 fighter planes a Thunderchief, Banshee, F-14, F-18, and Spitfire flew in the missign man formation the Banshee which was on the far right of the formation, diverted from the rest of the formation. The Legionaire forces were home.
