Antiia

OOC: I've played NS before, as Veredia and the Canadian Tundra, and I felt like starting up again, so this is going to be an intro post for Antiia
IC:
The weather seemed to reflect the mood of the Antiian people as rain poured down from the sky, drenching the three thousand regular army soldiers and six hundred Royal Guardsmen that stood at attention in perfect formation as the royal procession passed through the empty streets of the capital, Antioch.
In past times, the streets, even in poor weather, would be brimming with joyous crowds scrambling for even a glimpse of their monarch's vehicle, but times had changed. Antioch, once a lively, sprawling city that spread across the shore and up into the hills of Faris Bay was now a dreary depressed place, families did not gather to celebrate the crowning of a new monarch, but huddled in their homes, for fear of the new queen Latia's henchmen. They mourned as they saw the procession on their tv, and prayed for the Army of Freedom in the south, that their cause of democracy and liberty might win through.
Thunder boomed and several streaks of lightning arced across the sky as the new Queen's vehicle, an armoured limo, pulled up to the gates of the Royal Palace. The gates opened, and after a number of other vehicles in the procession passed in, the queen's vehicle entered, flanked on both sides by a section of Royal Guard infantry.
After entering the walls of the massive complex, they passed by the air defence batteries, twin 30mm guns and SAM sites manned by the elite Palace guard, bunkers and machine gun emplacements also littered the grounds, designed to fall into place alongisde the gardens and hedges so that they seemed natural. Upon the roof of the palace itself, more AA guns sat, as did ATGM batteries and 20mm gun emplacements.
The limo stopped, a pair of servants stepped out and raised large umbrellas to protect the new queen, Latia, from the rain. Dressed in a flowing, regal gown, the new leader of Antiia walked up the palace steps as the other officials, ministers, and attendants from the other procession vehicles stepped out and followed her in. TV crews from across the nation and even a handful of international news crews followed them inside for the crowning ceremony.
*Kellarin Mountain Region, southern Antiia*
Far from the city of Antioch, the queen's coronation had a different effect. For only a few minutes after being crowned, the queen had stepped up to the podium and announced that her first actions would be to unify the nation and bring peace back to the southern regions, where the 'treasonous horde' of the Army of Freedom was based. 25,000 new conscripts would be pressed into service, bringing the Antiian military to a strength of about 100,000, and that the military would begin immediate operations to 'pacify' the south.
A dozen Griffon helicopters, equipped with 7.62mm miniguns and rocket pods, thundered over the treetops of the Sagien forest as they approached the mountain town, considered to be the capital of the Kellarin mountains and original home of the Army of Freedom where a massive anti-crown protest was underway.
The griffons emerged over a ridge in the moutain and arrived at the town proper, nestled into a fertile valley between two large mountains. In the town square, some ten thousand protestors, about a tenth of the small city, had gathered. They waved signs, and burned a mockup of Queen Latia. Normally, such a protest would be put down by police or the army, but in The Kellarin mountains, squads of Army of Freedom fighters provided security for the protest.
The griffons rose above the low two or three storey buildings around the square and as the town looked up with curiosity, the helicopters unleashed their arsenals.
Thousands of rounds ripped through the tightly packed innocents as rockets raked the podium where the leaders rallied the crowds. More rockets flew forth, sending searing hot shrapnel ripping through innocent men, women, and children.
The helicopters adopted a hovering position, turning as they emptied the last of their bullets and rockets into the crowd. The aircraft turned, presenting their sides to the streets leading into the square as ambulances and other emergency vehicles rushed in to provide assistance. The side doors opened, presenting pairs of Royal Guardsmen equipped with SAWs who wasted no time in emptying hundreds of rounds into the emergency vehicles, condeming countless wounded in the square to a slow, agonizing death.
As the helicopters finally pulled out, a pair of F-5s equipped with bombs and rocket pods turned towards the city's main hospital, and unleashed their twin 30mm cannons, firing until they ran dry when they started firing off their rocket pods. The rockets brought down parts of the roof, crushing or trapping those within as the fighters flew over and released their bombs, bringing down the entire hospital.
*Statement from the new queen*
"Soldiers from our glorious Royal Guard regiments carried out their duty against the traitors at Millhaven in the Kellarin Mountains. I have given order that further strikes be made, until all rebels have been killed, or renounce their crimes and ask for the crown's forgiveness"
