The city was in ruins. Nothing survived the trail of destruction that the last days have brought upon it. Almost nothing at least. Nikolai was alive. Alive in body but dead in spirit. With millions dead in this city alone, and who knows how many more around the world, what hope could he possibly have that humanity still had a future. He looked again at the dead city in front of him. His home, his family, his friends and all that he loved and cherished about this city were all gone. They didn’t come to help them. Tears raced across his cheek and he stood there amazed that he still could. After last week he didn’t think he would ever be able to cry again. Not after having his daughter in his arms, grasping for her last breath. Not after seeing people he loved disfigured by the terrible disease, roaming the streets, looking for the little food that still was in the stores, begging the doctors for a cure. His mind went back to his wife, Marina. Was she still alive? Did she survive this terrible plague that swept through the cities like a tornado? He had no way of knowing this. The communications were among the first to fall. They managed to send a desperate message before they went down, but they received another hundred messages just like theirs before the lines went dead. This was too much for him. He kneeled on the rubbles of his former home and stood there, weeping for all that was lost, weeping for all that will never be rebuilt as it was.
All was not lost yet. Maybe they could rebuild. Maybe Marina was still alive somewhere in the capital. Maybe there is some part of this leveled world that was not touched by the disaster. Maybe....
He was still alive, though little comfort that brought to him. Others must be alive somewhere, others that would be immune to the plague like he was. They had to be found and taken away from this place. The stench of the dead will soon bring other visitors to the city. A new place had to be found and called home from now on.
He rose from his knees, painfully aware that he had to go, as the night was drawing near. He had with him the little he could gather from the ruins of his home. A knife, a piece of bread and some clothes. He smiled bitterly as he thought that he was still alive and went on his way without looking back. He thought of the more likely places to find other people. The hospitals, the police building, maybe the supermarkets, but those were emptied long time ago. As he looked for a car his eyes stopped on a 4x4 vehicle. That will have to do. He carried the dead corpse of the driver away and started the car. As he roamed through the empty streets he felt the cold run through him. It will soon be night. The nearest hotel will have to do. There should be empty rooms there, with no corpses in them, maybe with fewer stenches then it would be in a house. The thought that he would have to drive during the night on these streets gave him shivers. He hurried to the hotel.
As he left the car and headed to the front door he heard a sound. His heart raced as the thought of another soul being alive was almost too much to bear. He turned, and there she was. The most beautiful sight he would ever see. A small girl watching him with curiosity as he stared at her. She turned and went inside the hotel. As he followed her, he felt a joy that could not be described in feeble words. He came face to face with a scared woman.
`Don’t hurt us. Please. `
`You have nothing to worry from me. Please, I’m just looking for survivors. You have no idea how happy I am. I thought I was alone until now, as you two are the first survivors I see. `
The woman started weeping `We are not many, but we gathered here all who were not touched by the disease. You are welcome to join us if you wish`Nikolai smiled as he said `The kindest words I’ve heard in a long time. I don’t have much to offer, but ill do anything necessary. `
As he entered the room where they were all gathered, Nikolai stopped amazed. They were more then he would off thought possible. Sixty or seventy people were here, looking at him, eating or sleeping on the floor. There was still hope for humanity. As these survived here, others probably survived in other cities.
`You came just in time`, said a woman as she approached, `We’ll be leaving the city in the morning. The smell is too much now and other diseases will soon show up. Ahh, sorry. I’m Carla. I’m the only surviving doctor in this crowd. And I’m not even a very good one`. She laughed as she said this, and the warmth of her giggle made him feel at home.
Nikolai followed her as she gave him a place to sleep and a blanket. For the first time in many days he managed to sleep. The dreamless sleep that surrounded him was most welcomed, as the visions of death that followed him the last few nights were unbearable.
They left in the morning, four trucks and three cars, filled with people and all they could gather. Food for couple of months, some fuel, knifes, seeds and some tools to get them started. They didn’t take any weapons and didn’t feel the need to do that. They had to learn to do without them. They didn’t bring any good for humanity, and it was better if they could gather the food without being dependant on the scarce ammo. They prayed one last time on the rubbles of the city for their loved ones that were no more, and then they left without looking behind. To another future, one they couldn’t have possibly imagined one week ago.

The world has ended....well, most of it....
You have survived the apocolypse, nuclear destruction, asteroid, you name it, it happened to Earth...
After toiling for days without food or water you find a "perfect" grassland
*Near the coast
*Clean River
*Plenty of Animals, Trees, Fruits, and Vegetables
*An intact factory/oil refinery/oil well complex nearby
*Many resources
You eventually gather a group of survivors and lead them (70 people per village to start), but you aren't the only leader.
Interface just like those of civilization:
*Tech. Tree
*Specialties
*Luxuries
*Etc.
