Good evening viewers. Today the Emperor has passed a bill in the Assembly in which it will be banning zoos. The Emperor claims that the animals have the right to live in there natural habitat and not caged up and being viewed by thousands of people as if they where a display item. The Emperor recognizes that the tourism industry will suffer a bit but if people would like to enjoy and see the animals then they can get a special tour guide that will visit different animals in there natural habitat. That way everybody wins. The animals remain happy, the tourism industry gets money and the tourists get to see animals.
And that’s all for today folks. Stay tuned for the sports news coming up next.

OFFICIAL MESSAGE FROM THE HIGH SULTAN OF ELEPHANTUM
We look at this motion with confusion and curiosity. Are you going to ban the domestication of animals in general? Pets, farm animals, and other domesticated animals are no less of animals, if you release some, you should release all of them, or none of them.

"You do realize that zoos play an important role in keeping many endangered animals alive, cared for and out of reach of poachers' guns right?" -The Great Leader Li.

The Republic of Pintopia feels this is a peculiar way to help animals. Most advances that help animals in the wild originate by the study of these animals in captivity. You should rethink this hastily made decision.

Official Burnsian Statement
The Burnsian Desert does not understand the motives nor the necessity for such an act. Zoos help to keep many endangered species alive and provide a safe way for humans to better understand our animal companions. By outlawing them, you cause a thriving industry to have to convert into 'tours'. We are interested to see the outcomes in respect to your economy.

Official Public Announcement
There is currently no endangered species in Greece and in all of the Empire due to strict hunting regulations. Domestic animals like farm animals, dogs, cats, etc will not be released into the wild since they cannot take care of themselves. Studies show that most pet owners let there pets roam free around the neighborhood. And studies on animals prove more successful if they are studied how they act in there natural habitat.

Cannot natural habitats be created in zoos? You speak like you still keep animals in cages, with only straw as a seperation between the cold cement and their feet.

Official Public Announcement
No our zoos did not keep the animals like that. But what if the animal gets tired of seeing the same place over and over again? Should it not have the right to roam the wild like its rest of its species? Do you enjoy taking an animal away from its habitat and putting it in a little place and leaving it there for the sake of making money? And do not worry our economy is not based mostly on tourism and most tourists come to enjoy the lovely beaches and islands.

"I for one say 'good for you'. Some all too often forget that humans are animals too, just like their furry or scaled counterparts. All life is inextricably linked in ways we cannot possibly comprehend, and believing yourself to be above other species is a laughable concept indeed. We have no more right to imprison other animals for our own amusement than we do to imprison each other for our own amusement. Although I would not put that past many here.
People use 'helping them' as a motive for locking them away. Forgive me for laughing at such a bizarre concept. Even if their prison is so well decorated it even tricks a human into thinking it is a natural habitat, it is still a prison. They are still your slaves, forever trapped in an unnatural world. Humans disdain being imprisoned, even if they are told 'it is for their own good', and none of you can say otherwise -- why should other species be 'grateful' for the opportunity to amuse humans? Other animals hate prisons too, only they cannot complain about it as we can, nor defend themselves against technology. If you want to separate yourselves from nature, fine. It is your loss. But don't drag other animals down with you.
Nikolaos The Great has taken a great step away from the corruption of modern human society, and I commend them for it."
