Earth II: Taking of Angola

It was a quiet night unbefitting the destruction that was about to be unleashed upon Binthorian Angola. The First Expeditionary bomber wing of the VUAF (B2-Spirits and B1b-Lancers) was flying high above Binthor protected by F-22 fighter escorts and vital intelligence on the location Binthor's AA sites. To say that a firey hell rained down on the major military installions of the Binthor Army would be an understatement. The MK79 1000lb Napalm bombs combined with conventional High Explosive dumb bombs dropped on the vital army bases would make sure that very few survived the raging inferno that engulfed the soldiers who didnt even know what hit them. Shortly thereafter Tornado Strike fighters would drop CBU-51/A: 40 "BLU-67/B" Anti-Runway munitions onto the vulnerable Binthorian AF Bases so no air resistance would be met when the airborne infantry was dropped to secure vital railway lines leading into the country. When the infastructure was secured then the Bulk of the Infantry would arrive via train from Valian controlled Malawi.

ooc: i hate jolt, i typed a much longer one, but the ******* page refreshed and i lost everything!!! enjoy

Far uot to sea, the Heavy missile crusers of the dominion began the bombardment of the angolan beaches. behind them were the u-120's. the heavy bombardment submarines of the dominon. 4 in all, they represendted 1/5 th of the dominons heavy attack capability. with warheads armed with thermite, the taskforce systimatically destroyd the angolan defences.

Following the Heavy bombardment, the SNG-12's moved in. 50 in all, able to carry 1000 infintry and 40 tanks each, they began unloading on the beaches. Heavy howitzers began firing on the hidden bunkers in hte sand while the troops began the perilous journy up the beach.

High above, B-2P's began dropping the paratroopers inside. 20 B-2P's in all, 50 men each one. the force of Special Infultration Troopers flanked the gunners on the beach. Scielinceing each of the .50 Cal Machine guns.

Once the beach was fully secure, 15 more SNG's unloaded on the beach. Inside were mobile hospitals, mobile command centers, and the 2000 engineers required to build the temporary naval base and air strip on the beach.

the 10 SB-20 Resupply ships were performing their job with ease. the beach was won.

the Stahlheim Class Aircraft Carrier which accompanied the fleet served as the command and controll center for the mission. Onboard was the agent in charge, Agent 001.

In an encoded message to the Valian force commander:

Greetings! the beach has been taken. feel free to use our facilities as if they were your own. Once our men regroup, we will begin splitting the country in two. Your prescense is requested here as soon as possible. There are some details that need to be mopped up.

Two days after Air raid: By this time Valian Paratroopers had captured and fortified the city (town?) of Luau on the Angolan/Zambian border which was a vital rail nexus leading into the country. While The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Valian Drop Companies had suffered heavy casualties on initial deployment it had been nothing compared to how much the local citizenry would suffer once the 2nd and 3rd Brigades Arrived (of the 4th army of the 3rd army group). Part of the reason for the casualties had been the unexpectancy of any organized civillian resistance of any kind, but now army group command knew and was preparing for this in the months to come*.

*There have been disturbing rumors in the upper echelons of Valian military command concerning exactly what General Fredrick von Wilhelm the IV is planning on doing with Angola in the comming months of the war. Of these there have been rumors of using the VUAF to drop massive ammounts of Mustard, and VX Gas on large centers of population in Binthorian Angola. There are also some doubtful reports floating about that indicate the General is toying with the idea of mass murder of any civilians who resist the occupation and an even worse fate for those who actively fight it.

Four days after Air raid: It had taken almost a week, but the 2nd and 3rd Brigades* (7,000 Soldiers total) had arrived by rail from the Fatherland. In the next few days central command is planning on eventually deploying the entire 1st through 4th armies to make sure that the victory in Angola is complete. Meanwhile the VUAF bomber and strike fighter wings continue to pound the remaining military installations and major cities into submission. Thanks to the bravery of the Tornado pilots the VUAF has been enjoying a free reign over Angolan skies with little to fear except the occasional SAM. But soon even SAMs wont be a threat any longer, central command is planning on using cruise missles and specialy equipped Tornados to dispense of all the major sites that pose a threat to the VUAF.

*This does not include the some odd 14,000+ logistics and engineering personel who arrived via a seperate train with the 2nd and 3rd Brigades. Luau will be converted to Valian forward command within weeks to assist the timely arrival of materials and personel. The engineering Battalions are planning to construct several large airstrips for the airlifting of cargo (this is expected to be done within the next month).

Encoded message to Barolian(?) Commander: First I would like to congratulate you on your brilliant beach landing which fortunatly resulted in very little losess for your valiant ground troops. Myself and others in the 3rd Army group would wish for you to begin your advance into the interior so that we may end this unpleasant conflict with as little loss as possible to our militaries. Our experts are expecting a victory in less than 6 months at the latest. That withholding when you plan on taking the capitol which happens to be on the coast. We unfortunatly cannot accomplish this as we lack a navy. With that, I and the rest of us in Greater Valia wish you the best of luck, and godspeed.

Sincerely, Colonel Mugabe of the 2nd Brigade of the 4th army of the 3rd army group.

IC: The 2nd Mobile Howitzer division, 4,5,6th marine divisioins and 3rd Calvarie (naval) began to split the country in half. From Lobito, the Forces began to create a 50 mile wide stretch of barron and desolate land clear accross the country. With air support from the Carriers out to sea, this goal became a reality. napalm flew overhead burning out any and all resistance from Lobeto to Luena.Once the forces reached Zambia, they joined up with the Valian Divisions.

Back on the beach:
SNG's were landing, unloading, and returning to algeria, just to complete the trip again. What was looking like a mini city was being set up just off of the beach. word was that they were going to form a defencive line accross the country, then sweep the southern part of the country with the valian forces. After which, they would begin the march north, saving luanda for a joint strike from the valian forces and them selves. they would drive the barbarians out to sea.

OOC: We need someone to RP the resistance and/or remains of Binthors decimated military.

[The army present is the 4th army of the 3rd Army group]

One month after Air Raid:By now the entirety of the 4th army had arrived in Angola. The Valian military had established a permanent foothold in eastern Angola bordering Zambia. By this time construction of a forward military compound consisting of Barracks for the 4th army and 6 paved landing strips for the large cargo planes was nearing completion. It was also decided around this time that Luau was going to become the capitol of the provisional military government of Angola. For the Binthorian populace, the 4th army was rewarding for obediance and loyalty, but harsh and cruel for resistance to the new military goverment. more than 600,000 Binthorians suspected of being involved with the underground movement were being held in several designated areas for interrogation and internment (this is just a pc way of saying concentration camps). But not everyting was so grim. The Engineering battalions had begun constuction of roads, schools, and other vital infrastructure that was destroyed in the invasion.

It had taken a month, but the combined forces of the Barolian and Valian Ground forces had eventually suceeded in meeting each other. Now, the only thing standing in the way of total victory was taking the major cities where entrenched guerilla fighters were putting up a fierce resistance, and the remains of the Binthorian military that were engaging in hit and run tactics across the country side. The former were becomming more troublesome than the latter however since it was only a matter of time before the remants of the once proud Binthor Army would starve and run out of munitions since their logistics capabilities were long gone. But the gureilla fighters and partisans in the cities were another matter entirely. Supported by the remains of the police and national guard they were very comfortable massacreing Valian troops who attempted to establish any sound garrison in any of the major cities*. At this moment, the higher ups in the army had a difficult decsion to make. Either they mobilize the Iron Guard of the STO (see this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=414950) for information on the Iron Guard and the STO in general). Or they attempt to use poison or less-than lethal gas to drive out the remaining resistance.

[OOC: A little late than I originally expected to bring this to an end, but oh well. Better late than never!]

Eight months after invasion: In the burned out ruins of Binthorian Angola's Capital city the 4th Valian Army is making its victory parade through the once busy streets now cratered and littered with rubble and dead bodies. While Lieutenant General Mori sat in his air conditioned sedan he couldnt help but gaze out the tinted windows at the wreched populace lining the sides of the streets begging the passing soldiers for any scraps of food. It truly was a terrible sight to behold, victory had been won... but at a high price. The infrastructure of Binthorian Angola was almost nonexistant save for the rail ways that were vital to mobilizing the Valian ground forces, but other than that it was nearly impossible to get anywhere with anything short of a helicopter. Later that day Mori would walk up the steps to the grand Paliament offices, one of the few buildings spared by the ruthless bombing and artillery barages. Once there he would raise the Valian flag and cement the victory amoung the proud history of Valian military conquests. It had taken nearly a year, and close to 6,000 men had given their lifes for their country but all in all it was worth it. After all, Valia demanded living space and resources, which were plentiful in Angola...

Telegram to Valian leaders.

Greetings! We congradulate you on our great victory! Now it is time to get to work. We should not rebuild the infustructure. Air and sea travel are teh only necessary ways to travel in our new training grounds. I am sending over my first elite platoon to begin the obstical course that has been set up on the beach. I hope that this will lead to a highly productive relationship between our two countries.
