Narrator-This is an Elephanti News 3 special report
Anchorman-Scientists at the Etna Research Institute and Volcanology Center (ERIVC) reported signs of an impending eruption of the ancient volcano. the report, released today, says an eruption is likely to occur before the years end. They plan to issue information about volcano safety and evacuation plans later this week. All Sicilians should be concerned, as ash can spread far, with dangerous consequences. The High Sultan plans to inform Roman and Carthaginian leaders later today, so they can take precautions.

We will keep you updated on this breaking story
(More will come later, the periods almost over)

its quite a big pond, i think nearly all the ash should hit Italy, Sicily, and the Mediterranean, but small amounts may hit you, although that isnt much cause for concern.

OOC: Elephantum, I don't think Etna is *that* explosive...it's got enough to lay waste to the immediate vicinity (which includes the city of Catania), but as far as it being able to lay waste to the cities of Rome or Carthage, let alone Algeria are next to nothing. The last time I remember an Etnaean eruption it really just affected Sicily. I do think that in this case you could make the argument that it could hit the eastern Tunisian shore and Calabria (as the ash from a 2002 eruption hit Libya), but it won't go any further. So, Duke Barol should be safe.

OOC-I did not mean the cities of Rome and Carthage, but the countries. Southern Italy (you) and Eastern Sicily (TLS) may get some ash, as this will be a pretty big eruption.

IC- Sgt. Koorapati waited for the last load of munitions, glad things were moving faster than planned. They had some time before the eruption, but they had to evacuate a lot of material. Etna and Catania both had large military complexes, and all the people and munitions had to be relocated, at least until the end of the eruption. Syracuse was expanding its facilities, but some of the gear would have to be moved to Bahrain and India. Approximately half the Sicilian military would move over the next two months.
The Chinook helicopter took off. At Etna, off in the distance, smoke was slowly wafting out. Koorapati hoped they would get everything out in time, it looked like the eruption would come sooner rather than later.
