Then there would be no soldiers. It is actually supposed to symbolize that even in death, you are still in servitude. And it just looks cool.

It is a grim reminder of what will happen to your soldiers if you dare cross Farmina and its allies.

I also feel it lacks artistic flare.

OOC: Lots of evil nations are Christian. Look at Guff or The Merchant Guilds for an example.
