OOC: Press conference open to the world to ask questions and such...

Thrice in the 'New Order' had Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius opened himself to a press conference to the international community. The first time was after he overthrow the tyrant Julius Ilia Graffias. The second was a joint conference after the January Terrorist Attacks and the War with Muru. The last time was when Mount Pellonius erupted and Scorpius needed to ask for help.
Now, he is stepping up to the international community for no specific reason. He is giving the world a chance to ask him questions about things, ranging from his new marriage, Risban security measures, and the Risban City Football/Soccer Team to foreign affairs, internal pressures, and the recent mobilisation of the Imperial Military.
It was an open inquisition.

Imperial Palace, Risban City-- The Press Room
Julia Ormiv, wife of Paul Ormiv, the press secretary who was murdered during the Lucas Rebellion, was the acting Press Secretary for the Office of the Emperor. She looked at the assembly of reporters and journalists standing before the small stage. RINN had a first row seat, as usual...
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius," she announced, stepping away as the 26-year-old emperor took the podium.
"Goodafternoon," he said. "I'd like to thankyou all for being here. I'm not going to waste our time with any long speeches and such. Let's start with the questions."
He stood there, smiling, and waited.

A man from Hobbeebia stood up and asked

" Sir, are you planning to up you military spending this year. if so. Then what about any new military technologies may you be working on?" asked the reporter from Hobbeebia.

Nedalian reporter:

"Sir, would kindly tell us of the geographic location of your country and the geography of your country itself?"

Emperor Scorpius looked at the Hobbeebian man.
"Yes, our military is, as always, being very well funded. Within the coming year we hope to advance the strength of our already powerful navy, work on expanding the size of our air force, and develop a new defense system for our imperium. Furthermore, due to the recent attacks on Risban in January, we will be training more soldiers to combat terrorists. We will also be putting some more money into our Ministry of Intelligence. However, that's classified."
He winked and looked for the next question.

Emperor Scorpius smiled slightly, nodding to the Nedalian reporter.

"Well, as we are a massive country, I can't take the time to go into great detail. However... The Grand Imperium of Risban borders the nations of Tomnaboley, Slade Craven, Hantul, Zeitz, Fat Flan, Camos, Pelamor, Wandersleben, and Vexus in a region called the Consortium of Shadows. Vexus, Pelamor, and Camos are all autonomous principalities of Risban.
Risban itself is spread between a mainland landmass and a very large island, with hundreds of smaller islands. We have various climates and terrains, ranging from tropical to desert in the south to a northern climate in the north. Most of the time, however, we are classified as Mediterranean.
It is because of our coastal location and mass of islands that our navy is so large and we have a variety of goods to export.
The Imperial Academy of Risban will soon be publishing a book on Risban's geography. We recommend you keep an eye out for it."

"Next question?"

A journalist from Constitutionals, famous for its free and hard-hitting press, stood up.

"Sir, what, if any, military ventures will be planned by your goverment in times to come?"

Scorpius glanced at the Constitutionals reporter.

"Not many. Risban has always, as the past has shown, chosen diplomatic means to achieve certain ends, even going as far as bribery. We are a nation that does not like war, though maintains a large military for protection of ourselves and our allies. The only time our military has been called into activity against an enemy nation was when Muru launched a preemptive strike on us. The recent movements of our military are as a result of a growing threat."

"Next question?"

A woman from Arckum, dressed neatly in a dull blue stood up.

"Sir, if you would be so kind as to tell us," She began, holding her notebook and pencil in position. "What is Risban's postion on the controversial developments in the scientific field, Such as cloning and stem cell research?"

A short and stocky man in a brown suit stands up. "Laned Ohu, Southern Atrophe Wire. Sir, what is your position regarding the proliferation of nuclear weapons? Do all countries have a right to them? Do you have them?"

His partner, a tall and willowly woman in a blue dress, stands up after him and says simply, "Sir, how is your wife?"

Emperor Scorpius looked at the woman from Arckum.

"Risban has not yet cloned normal humans on a wide scale, and I doubt that Parliament would pass legislation allowing such a thing in the near future. However, there have been experiments with several special subjects... I am not at liberty to speak of it at the moment though.
Concerning stem cell research, the Grand Imperium of Risban supports the use of a dead fetus for scientific research."

A short and stocky man in a brown suit stands up. "Laned Ohu, Southern Atrophe Wire. Sir, what is your position regarding the proliferation of nuclear weapons? Do all countries have a right to them? Do you have them?"

His partner, a tall and willowly woman in a blue dress, stands up after him and says simply, "Sir, how is your wife?"


Scorpius adressed Mr. Ohu first.
"Risban has two-hundred and fifty three nuclear weapons in its arsenal. I have banned the creation of any others, and have succesfully destroyed over one-hundred. I strongly support the proliferation of nuclear weapons. They are dangerous and I feel they will lead to the destruction of our world. And, while countries do have the right to have them, I believe no country has the right to use them before they have exhausted every other possible choice."

He then looked at his partner, smiling.
"My wife is fine. She is busy running Parliament. I think she quite enjoys the grandeur of her new home though," chuckled the Emperor, refering to Imperial Palace.

"Next question?"

A good-looking Reporter with piercing blue eyes in a dark suit stands up as pagers go off throughout the room.
"Lance Strelaun, Brooklyn Herald. We have recieved a breaking story of a massive landslide in a foreign nation. What is your country's policy on delivering foreign aid?"

A grubby reporter from the Wirrawayan News Service put down his flask of vodka and shakily rose to his feet, burping loudly as he did so. He struggled to speak but pulled himself together enough to mutter

"Wha-wha-what its your...burp...sltance on gene maniplulation?"

He swayed unsteadily while waiting for a response

After having jolted down the Emperor's answer the jourmilist stood up again.

"Sir, what is the opinion of Rispin's citizens on the recent turn of events in Feline Catfish?" She asked calmly and patiently.

John Harson, The Liberal Republican Times, "What's your stand on racism and nations that support them ."

Scorpius looked at the N Y C reporter.
"The Grand Imperium of Risban never falters to donate money as a form of aid. In the past year we have donated $453.34 billion USD to foreign aid."

He then turned to the Wirrawayan reporter.
"Gene manipulation has not yet been brought before Parliament. It has not been a stranger in clinics, though, and there have been incidences of its use. Again, it has not been brought before Parliament."

The Cutthroatian reporter was next.
"Risban fully supports free trade, and smugglers have never been a problem before."

And then onto the reporter from Arckrum again, a grave look crossing the Emperor's face.
"The people of Risban are very alarmed by the turn of events in Feline Catfish. As a result from those events, our war machine has been activated and is on standby, ready to deploy if Risban or its allies are threatened in any way. We are attempting diplomacy first, though."

"Bump"
He then proceeds to collapse on the floor and begins to twitch.

John Harson, The Liberal Republican Times, "What's your stand on racism and nations that support them ."


Scorpius looked at Mr. Harson.
"The government of Risban is, itself, not racist, though there does seem to be a slight white, pure-blood Risban domestic issue rising. I don't really care about one's race, and think that overwhelmingly racist nations might want to reconsider their policies."

He then proceeds to collapse on the floor and begins to twitch.

The reporter from Arckum stares at the lunatic, then nudges him with the tip of her shoe. "That brings up my next question," She said, still staring at the twitching hobo. "What is Risban's stance on the mentally ill?"

The N Y C reporter also stares at the hobo, who he sadly recognizes as the former sports writer for the N Y C post.

"Likewise, Emperor, what is your stance on the homeless and welfare. What about healthcare?"

Emperor Scorpius glanced at the hobo, and waved a hand to stop the High Guards who were coming in to escort the man out.

"Risban attempts to help the mentally ill, and our hospitals for the mentally ill are very good. We attempt to find jobs for the homeless so they can support themselves. As for welfare, we don't have a lot of it. Some independent agencies give out money, but the government expects our citizens, who are for the most part wealthy, to fend for themselves. As for healthcare, most everyone has medical insurance, and it is free for people who make certain sacrifices."

Emperor Scorpius glanced at the hobo, and waved a hand to stop the High Guards who were coming in to escort the man out.

"BWAK, Polly wants to know your stance on protecting the enviroment while maintaining a healthy economy, BWAK!"
It attempts to leave and flies into a closed window.

Thereported glanced at the Emporer."And what are these sacrifices?" She asked coldly.


"People who donate organs, those who freely join the military, people who agree to take their shots, and people who allow our scientists to test things on them," he responded calmly.

"Sir, it's known throughout Risbanian nobility that Prince Jordan of Green Sun is searching for a Risbanian wife. What some citizens who have relatives, ancestry, or claim birth from Risban are concerned about is a very large religion called Neo-Islam, a much more peaceful and advancing section of Islam. The Green Sun religious leaders seem to be intent on getting converts on Earth and they seem to be starting to set up camp to convert some Risbanian people. First of all, what is your stance on religion, and second, your stance on their wishing to peacefully convert the Risbanian people?"

At this, the High Guards jump at the bird, not wanting it to cause too much chaos.

"We maintain many parks and have several reserves, but our environmental policies are in need of aid. The scorpion is on the endangered species list at the moment. We are attempting to fix that."

A welknown reporter who doesn't like the emperor asks a question, his shrew-like eyes darting around the room.
"Sir, if you had to choose between nuking several nations or personally executing every member of your family, which would you choose. Simply name one of the choices"
He cackles madly as he sits back down.

Scorpius smiled.

"Yes, I am aware of the Prince's search. As for religion, I am personally a Roman Catholic, which is the major religion in Risban. If they wish to attempt converting people, they can go right ahead. However, I would like to let them know that the people of Risban are quite stubborn and tend to stick to their rootes, especially those of 'old blood.' However, if the religious leaders of Green Sun wish to attempt, they can go right ahead. The government does not care what religion one is a member of as long as it does not cause harm to those around one."

A welknown reporter who doesn't like the emperor asks a question, his shrew-like eyes darting around the room.
"Sir, if you had to choose between nuking several nations or personally executing every member of your family, which would you choose. Simply name one of the choices"
He cackles madly as he sits back down.


Emperor Scorpius frowned slightly, tilting his head.
"I assure you, sir, that such an incidence will never happen. Should it, my reaction would depend on the circumstances and the state of my family at the time."
He made a hand motion for the High Guards to quietly escort the mad reporter from the conference room.

The evil reporter turns to the camera as he's carried away.
"You heard it here on Fox, folks, the emperor Scorpius does not rule out the possibility of nuking defensless nations or slautering his own family. Back to you, Tom!"

"Catholic...Check...Another question, sir, actually two, first of all, Green Sun is threatened by a few terrorist nations that has attacked or poses the risk of attacking Risban, and vise versa. What is your thoughts on that? And aren't you supposed to be at the Wedding Party?"

Emperor Scorpius looked at the Green Sun Reporter.
"We are fully aware of terrorist threats, and are doing all we can to counter such things. In the recent months we have poured a great deal of money into Defence and Law and Order. We will stop at nothing until terrorists are captured and brought to justice."

A RINN Reporter stood up.
"Do you and your wife plan on having children anytime soon, sir?"

Emperor Scorpius smiled. "Yes, we have discussed it and do plan on having children in the future."

The reporter from Arckum stood up yet again. "Sir? Do you have any words on Arckum's recently declared assistance to the Coalition against Feline Catfish?" She asked hopefully.

A reporter from N Y C rushes into the room.
Sir, can you please comment on the recent attacks by Buben on N Y C shipping and wherther you plan to assist them, knowing how weak they are militarily compared to their aggressors?
