[OOC: Enable images for this one, it's best. I know this is a sport-related thing, but since it's an announcement to the world, I felt just this once it is qualified for I.I.]

Timiocato unveils its logo for the 2012 Games

Today, the City of Timiocato and the Government of Pacitalia unveiled to the world the official "Host City" logo for the 2012 Summer Olympics that replaces the old multi-coloured bars logo used for the bid candidacy section of the Olympiad process.

The new logo, unlike the old one has the Olympic rings at the bottom of the printface instead of the top, and this time, there is no Pacitalian flag on the bid logo, although Timiocato hosting the games was intended to be a symbol for national unity. The new logo is mainly themed in blue, purple, white and black.

This logo, designed by Puntafora's 28-year-old phenom artist Alessio Santrattuma of graphic design conglomerate SantraBesa CLtP, features a striking blue and purple sun with white, blue and purple rays symbolising the beautiful and equally striking sunsets that grace the Pacific's shores every evening in this country. The sunset is complemented by two horizontal abstract lines of medium and light blue to symbolise the sunset's calming, soothing reflection on the waters of the Pacific.

The typeface is a simple Sans Serif font, with the word Timiocato conjoined to "2012" to symbolise the city's connection and desire to the world sports stage and to hosting these games. Host City is then written below in English and Pacitalian, the two official languages. To supplement the logo, the Olympic rings are placed at the bottom.

Prime Minister Timothy Ell had his say on the logo today.

"I am absolutely appalled... but appalled at how fantastic this logo is," he said at the unveiling press conference this morning. "It is such a beautiful and exact representation of one of Pacitalia's most recognisable natural features, and to have this replication turn out so well and look absolutely magnificent is such a positive boost to the team that is already extremely excited about putting on a successful Summer Olympiad for the world."

Culture & Heritage Agustinate Paulina Cessaniti also put in her two cents.

"This logo epitomises the ingenuity of the Pacitalian people and the beauty of the landscape we call home. It is simply a work of modern art."

We are still waiting for comments from other nations of the world.

Btw, logo is handdrawn in PowerPoint, of all programs. ;)

This logo is copy-free except for the Olympic rings.

Personally, i think the first one is nicer - but the second one isn't bad at all.
