Dalek's Reconquer Skaro!

Emperor Dalek

From A.J.P. Baylor's seminal work: ' The old Dalek wars in today's society- a post-futuristic discussion'

Source A comes from a report from the Glactic Federation Internews Channel, G3: '8460AGF (Annos Galaticaya Federatiaya) Transmission from the Thal-Human colonies on the former dalek capital planet of Skaro has ceased transmission. Fears of renewed dalek activities in the area have led to minor observation satellites to be sent to Skaro. All trade to the colonies there is now cut off following the missing of the following cruisers: 'A1-Deltastar', 'The Freidenburg', 'JS-mark Barrona' and 40 type 30 transmat holders. Fears that the colonies of:
The Holy Empire of The Executive has ceased to exist.
The Nomadic Peoples of Stirling Castle has ceased to exist.
The Principality of Royal Falkland has ceased to exist.
The Kingdom of Royal Holyrood has ceased to exist.
For the families of any who have relations in those worlds, we hope that they were either offworld or killed immediately if it was a dalek invasion. All who weren't were probably utilised in the dalek's disgusting conversion pods, designed to mutaite humanoids into daleks, or are now part of the living dead the daleks utilise as 'Robomen'. Small children are likely to be utilised to fuel dalek battle computers with innovative imagination, and later to be discarded.'

This was merely one of many sources that came from that era. Another relating to the same incident, on 'channel 5BS', reported:
'Today the redundency of hillbillic colonists was again revealed to the Galactic community when the constitutional monarchy of Royal Holyrood and its different segments fell out of communications with their homeplanets. Noted for their breeding with the half-breed race of galatic hippiests known as 'Thals', 5BS sumises that the colonialists were all celebrating 'Hick day' when a groupd of them got drunk and went 'Ludditing'. Please excuse me for using all this ancient-regime Earthing, but really thats the basic technology and linguistics of these planetary nobodys anyway. As for the loss of various crafts around the planet, these no doubt are the fault f our laxing on local planetary customs, thus allowing hard-working decent Federationalists to subcome to Colonial barbarity. I have no doubt that the first thing that will accompany the return of these ships will be drunken hit and runs along the space networks!...'
Source B was wrong and Source A was right. Various other news channels, columnists and techno-gisers reported a series of facts and fictions relating to either A or B or some completely different theoretical phenomena. The only physical proof people had was that a) The colonies were not responding. b) some ships hadgone missing. However, Governmental files from the GF show that its leaders knew more than the public about what had happened, particularly after the use of satellites. The following article briefly sums up what had actually happened on Skaro (source C: The Turbiline Report)
' To the supreme executive council of the Galatic Federation on information referring to sub-section 5.32, Article 12 of Galatic Charter for the Intervention of Known Hostile Alien Resumption of Activities of Non-Signatory States-
The planet of Skaro, in the Casturbian Nebula, galatic coordinates 564569, colonised by the constitutional monarchy of Royal Holyrood (mem # 587) and its subserviant fellow colonists the nomads of Sterling Castle (mem # 1038), the Theocracy of the Executive (mem # 1162) and the princedom of Falkand ( mem # 1163), ceased contact with the GF at 11:53 am. Reports distributed to GF headquarters 5 days previous to this cease of contact showed an unidentified fleet heading for Skaro, apparently extremely ragged. Emission from the fleet to Skaro 3 days ago stated the following:
'CURRENT - INHABITENTS - OF - SKARO
THIS - IS - THE - DALEK - FORMERLY - KNOWN - AS - THE - RED - DALEK
I - AM - THE - REMAINS - OF - THE - ONCE - MIGHTY - DALEK - EMPIRE - THAT - RULED - SKARO - AS - THE - CENTER - OF - AN - EMPIRE
WE - REQUEST - THAT - YOU - DROP - YOUR - TRANSDUCTION - BARRIERS - AND - ALLOW - OUR - SPACE - FLEET - ACCESS - TO - THE - PLANET
WE - ARE - NOW - A - PEACEFUL - RACE - THAT - ONLY - DESIRE - TO - UTILISE - OUR - FORMER - INFAMY - TO - BRING - FINANCIAL - GAINS
THIS - WE - COULD - PROVIDE - TO - YOU - TOO!
WE - REQUIRE - IMMEDIATE - RESPONSE!'
A day before we lost all contact, the colonies reported to have refused the Daleks entry to Skaro, but to then report that the fleet began to change appearence and to train its weapons on the planet's defences.
The lack of communications since then has led us to believe that the colonies are either currently under assult or have been overcome by the invading Daleks. Probes and satellites have been sent to observe the Casturbian Nebula.'
The council, fearful of taking any actions that would divert resources from the trade war with Galaxy 5, attempted to 'write off' the colonies and began a blanket of all news coverage on any medium about the incidents. Thus the Casturbian affair came into being.

Source D, a report made from dalek identified as #32, colour black, to dalek #1, Emperor, relates as follows:
CONVERSION - OF - POPULATION - IS - AS - FOLLOWS: 25% - EXTERMINATED - 15% - ROBOCISED - 10% - CONVERTED - INTO - KALED - MUTANTS - 45% - MINING - AND - BREEDING - FORCE - FOR - SLAVES - 5% - EXPERIMENTATION... DALEK - COMMUNICATIONS - WITH - OTHER - NATIONS - STATES - AND - PLAENTARY - SYSTEMS - WHICH - COULD - PROVE - USEFUL - TO - DALEKS - BEGUN - COMMUNICATION - SYSTEMS - REPAIRED - 92%
RESEARCH - INTO - RECOVERED - TECHNOLOGIES - BEGUN - PARTICULARLY - STARGATE - AND - TIME -TRAVEL.

Conclusion: The Dalek invasion of 8460AGF of their former homeplanet of Skaro was due, not to ' a natural longing for one's native homeland' (see Tompson Dalek Recall, p.43) but to a desire to re-examine technologies left on Skaro since the First Dalek War, by the daleks enemies and allies. It was a natural attempt to restart a Dalek Renaissense in technologies. Why else would the daleks return to Skaro? Also, Skaro uniquely offered at least a 65% remains of equipment for the Daleks to re-use from when they were rulers of the planet. The addition of an enslaved humanoid population aided Dalek renewed industrialisation, which the daleks always culled every so often. After the absorbtion of the humanoid states, the Dalek population actually rose from 6 million to 12 million, although only 4 million were actually in mobile combat machines.
The reluctance by the Galatic Federation to retake Skaro also demonstrates the large strain war with Galaxy 5 placed on the Federation. The downfall of the ruling leaders of the Federation and the Guardian of the Solar System (replaced by Amazonia), despite being victorious against Galaxy 5, can be seen in a chain of public misleadings (of which the Casturbian affair was but one) that still today has led to many factual errors.(Seeing Galaxy 5 as a 'terrorist faction' in Galatic history books, for example, which has only recently been rectified in A. Vood's The origins of The Galaxy Five Revolution)
Regardless, the daleks from this point on began to reassert pressure upon the Universe again.
