THE K250 SERIES FUTURE INFANTRY/ARMOURED FIGHTING VEHICLES
A JOINT DAT'PIZDY AND SOVIET ARMS COMISSION PROJECT

Overview

The K250 Series of FIFV/FAFV has been designed to replace the aging APCs and IFVs already in the Soviet Red Army and to provide them with a fighing vehicle that is matching or beyond world standards.

The K250 series features FOUR Vehicles:

The K250 Midfielder IFV
The K252 Refferee IFV
The K254 Striker AFV
The K255 Goalkeeper IFV

The Armour for all Vehicles in the K250 Series is the same and although the powerplant differs and the troop capacity differs really the main difference in the four vehicles is the weaponry.

THE K250 SERIES ARMOUR PROJECT
The K250 Series Armour Project is most likely the most important part of the K250 Project.

Each vehicle is fully NBC protected.

The K250 Armour System [LVADS - Light Vehicle Armour Defense System] starts off simple with a layer of 25mm RHA and 25mm of NRA incorporated into 50mm compounds not unlike the chobham armour system. This armour is spread around evenly on the vehicle.

Secondly in the K250 LVADS is the LADES [LAser DEfense System]. This unique system operates of 6 individual Batteries and Capacitators.
They are positioned as such.

Two on the back, incorporated in extra 450mm RHA armour boxes on either side of the troop ramp.
Three on the top behind a 350mm Titanium Composite Armour Box, which also has the ProDS [Projectile Detection System].
One in front underneath the turret and just above the troop compartment for the IFV's and for the AFV just above the commanders compartment.

The LADES has a Broad Range Discharger to make a panning laser to cover a wide area [approximately 95 cm out of the tank's side armour]. The six capacitors give a fairly good coverage area. When a round is detected by the ProDS it activates the laser which starts from a -40 degrees angle and moves evenually up to a 210 degrees for protection of the top of the vehicle. When the laser moves into contact with the shell, the metal and explosives in the shell will flashboil and in turn detonate. The LADES requires approximately 25 to 35 seconds to recharge.

THE K250 SERIES POWERPLANT AND PROPULSION

IFV's POWERPLANT AND PROPULSION
The three IFV's in the Series use a 5V, 330kW, cooled diesel engine with four forward gears and two reverse gears. On roads the maximum speed of 62 kmh. The powerpack is configured and installed for easy maintenance and replacement and is possible in the field
AFV's POWERPLANT AND PROPULSION
The single AFV in the series uses a 6V, 390kW, eight cylinder liquid cooled diesel engine with four forward and two reverse gears. Onroard maximum speed of 59 kmh. The powerpack is installed in the same position as the IFVs for the same reason.
GENERAL POWERPLANT AND PROPULSION
The running gear consists of six dual rubber lined road wheels, with three return rollers on each side and connector type tracks. The suspension system consists of a torsion bar, bumper and hydraulic shock absorber on each suspension arm. The K250 FI/AFV's can maneouvre on gradients and slopes of up to and possibly more than 58% and all four vehicles can ford up to depths of 1.5 metres without prior preparation of floats etc.

[b]THE K250 SERIES WEAPONRY AND FIRECONTROL

Fire Control: General
Fire control for all vehicles varies but in general every vehicle is equipped with:
-4x, 12x Sight Magnification
-360 Degree optical sighting
-Thermal, Night Vision, InfraRed, InfraGreen Viewmodes
-External cameras providing 360 degrees view from inside the tank
-

The K250 Midfielder
The K250 Midfielder’s primary armament is a 25mm Kapaz Autocannon mounted on a turret that can swivel 248 degrees. The guns highest achievable angle is 75 degrees. The turret has a coaxial 7.7mm machine gun with 900 rounds of ammunition. The 25mm Autocannon holds 1,400 shots of ammunition. There is a hull mounted 7.7mm machine gun with 1,000 rounds of ammunition. On the left side of the turret there is mounted a rocket pod that holds up to four rockets in the pod and four that can be reloaded into it. The rockets are HAMRAM – Heat Advanced Medium Range Armour Missile . They pack a 2.8lkg charge and have a maximum range of 3,750 metres.

The K252 Referee
The K252 Referee’s primary armament is a four barrelled, 25mm Kapaz Chaincannon that can swivel to 248 degrees. The gun’s highest achievable angle is 75 degrees[top barrels]. In total there are 6,000 rounds of ammunition,1500 rounds per barrel. The Chaincannon fires at a maximum RPM of 1,800 RPM and can fire for extended periods of 52 seconds avg. before an overheat occurs and barrels may have to be replaced. The gunner of the K252 should take this into account. The turret has a special timer counting how long the barrels have been firing munitions in both total and in the most recent burst. The range is somewhere of 1,500 metres. The Referee also has a hull mounted 7.7mm MG with 1,200 rounds.

The K255 Goalkeeper
The K255 is the AAA IFV of the project. It’s turret is similar to the K252’s but it has only 3 barrels for the 25mm Kapaz Chaincannon and holds only 2700 rounds in total, 900 rounds per barrel. Highest angle and ROF is the same. On the turret, on both sides are two dual barrel tube launchers that can aim to a full 90 degree angle to fire missiles the size of FIM92 Stinger’s.

The K254 Striker
The AFV is armed with a single 72mm HEAT cannon with 38 rounds and a reload time of approx 48 seconds. There is a 14.5mm Coaxial MG with 900 rounds of ammunition and two hull mounted 7.7mm MG’s with 650 rounds each.

OOC - Er.. no.. I wouldn't like to be part of some gambit where a nation buys 35,000 armoured vehicles from another nation.

IC:
Understood. We will consult Dat Piz'dy and you will receive a telegram to say whether this is a possibility or not.

OOC - Thanks prae :D

OOC: Remember, ignorance is really a sign of good design. Which is sad and perverse, but true nonetheless. I particularly like the K254 as I've seen very few true AFVs around II; IFVs of one flavor or another tend to dominate, with the occasional CFV coming out. The pictures are also quite well done in differentiating between each vehicle. Overall, a very solid vehicle that, while a smidge underpowered by NS's ludicrous standards, impresses nonetheless.

OOC: Actually, was referring to the road speeds; 62km/h is, by most NS standards, a bit slow for an MBT, let alone an IFV. I understand that you're striving for realism, which these vehicles achieve quite well. My criticism is also fairly moot if you're referring to top sustained road speed, which is quite different than just top road speed, in that top road speed from what I've seen generally means what you can achieve when you get on a straight stretch of good road and go full throttle.
