Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

Pencils seldom were useful unless used for writing, or drawing. Since it was not, only the sound of its wooden design could be heard as it was beat steadily against the lips of Indigo. He was reading the draft as he had written himself, and such editing was nessasary since his computer systems were currently unavailable for whatever reason. In the meantime he still had a letter to write, and in the drawers of his desk remained two most important things; pen and pencil. Maybe he would just have to revert back to the older days of the Union, before computer recognition software had been invented. In fact, using pencils were much more customary to some people in the outer districts, since that was the location of HistoryWorld, an educational theme park basing its time period on the early era's of World War One. There at the park, children and adults alike enjoyed experiencing the world around them as if it were now. In fact while he sat quietly in his office, his personal secretary and her three children were enjoying a long day there. Besides she deserved the break from work today, a reward for working so hard.

Indigo leaned forward, and with his right hand corrected a minor spelling error from the paper. Finally it was complete, and all that he waited on was for the computer systems to come back online again. He had promised that they would be out for no more than just a few minutes, just a small amount of time to reflect on what he had been considering. Ever since he had forgotten the history of this nation and the world it used to involve itself in, the place known as International Incidences had declined into a state of savage warfare, and desperate individuals. A cry for hope perhaps could be heard from the masses, from the people who suffered in such a destructive and turbulant world. Austarians by far, now enjoy a peaceful life; they probably would even remember the time when the Austar Union, alongside the United States of Credonia, fought the terrorist and allied forces in a state of constant warfare. That was a time of hardship, and of when every Austarian understood the pain of war. Only twice had the terrorists managed to strike against their people however, and not once had an enemy stepped onto these lands in anger.

Distant memories however, faded into what they really were; Memories. Today was a new day of prosperity, and while the population within these borders enjoyed the fruitful life of peaceful relations abroad, Indigo felt it was no longer he could endure hearing the world's silent screams amongst the world of dreams. Faces came to him from a world now distant from the Union, yet close to his own heart. Every man and woman was cared about, and every spirit in the grand scheme mattered. It was time now that the Austar Union once again involve itself in the world of International Incidences, but from this time the perspective of an outsider. Nationstates was his new home, and had been now for centuries. Only now though, could he see that the people were suffering in the place this nation had once existed. Yes today was the day to become the advocate of peace, to be the one probably leading the way into a better, brighter future to this distant world. They needed his help, and if he could be one to do no more than give ideas to the I.I. Community, then he would be more than honored.

"Ah yes," thought Indigo to himself as the screen flashed before him. "Today could mark something new for their world. Maybe Revelation could come to them, and a new Era of Peace could be instituted."

TO: Leaders, the Global Community of International Incidences
FROM: Lord Indigo Blue, the Absolutionist State of Austar Union
SUBJECT: Invitation to a Peace Summit
---------------------------------------------------------

How much should this world degenerate into a tangled mess of violence and bloody murder before someone at least steps forward to be the one to advocate peace among you? I for one have been watching closely into your own affairs, in the world of International Incidences. I cannot stand by and allow children to suffer such magnificant destruction, for their tiny minds will not endure the fact. How long has it been since sense and order ruled the world? I see no sense nor order in your world, for it has become nothing but a place for bitter hatred and the in-fighting of your friends and enemies. That is no world.

So in an effort to at least bring back a portion, just a tiny piece of sanity to the world you call home, I will be hosting an international summit to discuss how we can set this world a path for brightness. Daily, I watch as the darkness closes over your lands and I for one will cry 'No More!'. I invite you to make this stance alongside me, and join me in Anatoba City for this convention. Be one of those paving the dusty road of misfortune, be one of those with the guts to make a stance and take the leadership of your world, and be one of those few who can honestly call themselves advocates of a peaceful world.

Yours In Excellence,

Lord Indigo Blue

Lord Rotherham looked puzzled as he lowered the Foreign Office Telegram. Foreign Secretary Tiberius Polax, sitting opposite the Lord in his comfortable study did not appear troubled by his old friend’s puzzlement. They sat in companionable silence for a few minutes before Rotherham, removing his reading glasses, turned to his friend,

“I say, Polax, what’s an ‘International Incidences’ when it’s at home?” before the MP could reply he continued, “I suppose they might mean the World Stage. Funny language… we haven’t heard from the Austarians for a while, have we?”

“No,” Polax replied bluntly, “I believe we sold them a navy once, though. Damn fine ships they were. Some of the finest we’ve built.”

“So… what the devil do they want now?”

“I don’t know,” Polax said vaguely, “World peace or something. Not in our interest. Not now, anyway. Come to think of it, I don’t recall us being at war.”

Rotherham let out a snort of laughter, “Noble, I’ll give them that, very noble. On the other hand, we have an Empire to run, interests to pursue and a much more realistic world view.”

“So, what do you think? Say no?”

“I’m not so sure, Polax. This might get somewhere, and if it does we want to be in from the beginning.”

“Well that is our general policy, but do we actually want this to get anywhere?”

“True, true,” Rotherham agreed, taking a swig of brandy, “We can go to their conference… walk out if necessary… but really this isn’t going to get anywhere. Other nations have interests just like us, and they won’t be any readier to give them up than we are. What do you think Polax?”

“Probably a wise course to sail,” he paused, taking a swig of brandy himself, “so, do you want to write this one up or shall I?”

“Better just to let the underlings do it. The Ministry likes doing this sort of thing… ‘pleased to hear from you’… ‘noble enterprise’… ‘utmost support’… ‘when’s the conference?’ all very standard stuff…”

“Well, splendid! Now, we received a rather interesting message from…”

Zabic sat in the halogen gloom of his office, holographic screens flicking about as his glove was used to direct his commands to the computer. He knew he needed to reply to the Austarian message, yet in the complex real politick of the Imperial Court he knew that any pre-emptive moves on his part would be instantly jumped on as evidence of treachery by the Emperor's sycophants and favourites...

His friendship with the Emperor guaranteed him nothing and Zabic knew it, however he felt the Empire needed to be guided to a less aggressive course at least for a decade or so. It needed to rebuild, however the enduring question of the fact that the Imperial Guilder Empire was founded upon mass slavery of other nations. How would this stability be achieved when they always needed a supply of slaves to meet their ever growing needs for them...

Zabic considered this and decided it was best to leave such concerns for the morning, he needed to respond to Austarians and he needed to be with his wife... he needed her comfort more than all right now. He sighed and began dictating the message, which read as follows:

To: The most honoured Lord Indigo Blue

We of the Imperial Guilder Empire, despite our numerous differences with many of this world. Are willing to take up this offer of a conference by which some form of peace can be established across the nations involved in the near constant warfare on this planet.

Our people are tired of the expansion of our great Empire and now wish to seek a more peaceful world, which can be policed by the great nations in order to maintain some of the sanity that seems so far away now.

From our understanding of yourself from the Templar's Intelligence Dossiers/Files on you, we may not agree with you on a lot of things especially on such things as Human Rights or the concept of total democracy. However, despite this we feel that a certain accord between our two great nations can be achieved by talk and negotiation, perhaps more than could ever be achieved by the flaming swords of the Emperor's Legions.

We will be sending an Ambassadorial Party headed by Cicero Romani an accomplished diplomat. Since we have security concerns, we would ask you to satisfy our need to bring personnel for the personal protection of said party.

We hope we can forge a new brighter, more peaceful world for us all.

For God and Saint Peter,

Criticus Zabic,
Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Emperor & Empress,

Zabic finished dictating the link message to the link system built into his desk, sighed and looked over towards his polished oak drinks cabinet. He needed a drink, the Empire needed to consolidate its hold over the new territories which had fallen under its control as well moving enough troops into the Allania Colony to stop the continuing insurgency from die hard loyalists to the old regime...

With the command Send, he sent the message which could see his downfall from favour, but he hoped the Emperor would see the wisdom of his actions or as he feared the Empire might fall.

The Grand Chancellor of Jeruselem, Francis Marlet, acting as the head of state in the absence of the Royal family who were in Derscon and Archbishop Augustus Cardinal Brown of Jerusalem (Old City) who was in Rome for the Papal Conclave 2005.

The ArchBishops of Jerusalem (New City) and of Beersheba were also in Derscon. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem was far too old and frail to travel. The Catholic leadership at home was rather thin.

The Jewish and Islamic leadership were far too busy with their own affairs to care. They didn't go to conferences unless required or they want to go.

The minister for Defense was home-body who was coordinating anti-terrorist attacks and the other ministers were too inexperienced for the conference.

He couldn't go either and he sent an apology

Due to current overseas commitments, most of heads of state or potential acting heads of state will be unavailable for this Peace Summit. We feel is inappropiate to send a junior diplomat like our Ambassador in Austar Union as they cannot truly represent the opinions our nation at such a high level.

Our head of state is attending an important Greater Prussian event, the wedding of Czar of Derscon and Katherine Rice of Formal Dances.
