The Queendom, even though we have plenty of allies as is, feels that this world is growing ever more dangerous with more conservative Christian(and other religions) nations, we feel the need for even more allies. Your alliance with us can be either Military or Economic, or both.

OOC: Personally Im not a big fan of the alliances on NS simply because there are so many different ones and so many nations are in alliances that usually do not complement each other well and end up putting someone in a very precarious postition. So, I just thought I would give you a reminder of what could happen if you just go around accepting alliances with nations at will.

While the Kingdom of Spruitland is not interested in – nor equipped for – a military alliance, His Majesty, King Alfons I, would like to extend his sympathy to the Queendom of Tree Hugging Lesbians, on the basis of his fervent predilection for hugging.
Though he is somewhat bemused by the practice of hugging trees, he prides himself in being open-minded, and has no moral objections to this quirkiness.
In fact, His Majesty can spot a good business opportunity when it presents itself, and would like to point out that Spruitland – due to its low population – has vast amounts of trees available. We would be more than happy to chop them down and send them to you – for the right price, of course.
Expect a free sample shipment of prime lumber – to be hugged by the Lesbians in the name of prosperous trade relations with Spruitland – to follow this message.

Yes, indeed, but, I think the major point here is that of “entangling alliances”

Hypothetical situation here, Lets say you’ve allied with nations A-through F. That’s all well and good, depending on the articles of your alliance, you may be required to assist nations a through of in case of them being attacked, or them attacking someone else. That’s all well and good until, once day, nation A decided it’s not so happy with Nation F anymore, and they go to war. What do you do! You’ve got an obligation to assist both, and staying neutral costs you two allies and some international respect for not keeping your end of the bargain, which will cause other nations not to trust you as much.

Basically, you need to choose your allies carefully, and avoid this. Choose allies of the same, or close to same ideology as yourself, and be sure to limit the provisions of your alliances, above all, I really recommend making it perfectly clear to ALL your allies that you are absolved of any assistance should your ally go off the deep end and attack someone for no reason.

The best example of this can be found in our very own history of the world.

Do you know how and why World War 1 started? If you don’t, check it out, and you’ll understand why “entangling alliances” are a very, very bad thing, they can cause what should have been just another bush war to escalate into a full scale, balls to the wall, all out fight.

Oh, and good luck on finding allies, choose wisely, young grasshopper ;)

We have always been, and hopefully will always bee, an ally to the Queendom of THL.
We have no objection to THL remaining neutral in the event we go to war with another of it's allies, and we have no objection to them accecpting those which we dislike as allies.

I merely wish to remind the Queendom, and the international community at large, that if required, our support, both military and economic, is always there for the Queendom of Tree Hugging Lesbians.

OOC: As of this post, Krioval has one ally, and that was a result of a near-war. We kind of figured we might as well keep it in power, though it's not been invoked. I prefer trade agreements. Nothing says I can't trade with both sides during a war, and if one side attacks neutral ships, it determines really fast which side I take in the conflict.

IC:

Krioval offers to extend trade agreements with Tree Hugging Lesbians. In particular, we wonder if you would be interested in additional genetic material, given your novel form of reproduction. While we cannot guarantee a total absence of males as a result of using our samples, Krioval is willing to repatriate the males as Kriovalian citizens. Of course, more conventional trade is also something Krioval wishes to encourage.
