OOC: Primarily because I'm bored and have been reading too much of the Vampire Counts Army book, I'm going to RP the distant past of Chronosia, long before it became a Communist State or the Imperium. This is OPEN
IC:
The Kronos mountain range, the centre of the Chronosian Empire, were great and terrible; an imposing geological formation, that howled with foul winds, and were tipped in eternal frost, imposing their dark, terrible and harsh shadow upon the kingdom that surrounded it, for in the foothills of these mountains; nestled amongst rock and dark wood; were the eternal halls of the Empire, and its current Master. Markus von Carstein had fought long and hard for this Empire; the ring about his finger served as testament to his power and his iron will, a will that had defied death, and may even serve to defy the second death...
He chuckled lightly, sipping the sweet red nectar of life itself from an ornamental goblet; gazing through the glass of the window, out across his night enshrouded kingdom, his Empire...
He almost felt his blood warm at the sight of it.
His masterful diplomacy, a shrewdness and cunning in his blood, had allowed him to bring others under the fold; Necrarch lords in their distant towers through the kingdom, had sworn at least a superficial allegience to his new order; and already delegates sought to bring the Lahmians and the martial power of the Blood Dragons into his court; yet, Markus did not have high hopes of little more than a barely unified front, and that was all that would be needed for now; all that he required as a unified force...
Yet deep within the depths of the dark forests, were frightened villagers buried their dead, deep and dark, bound and face down, to prevent their return...Something stirred; something dark and hideous, great and grotesque, it slunk amongst the graves, toying at the earth, as the creatures that came with it, dug; either for minions or for sustenance; it mattered not...Fresh meat...Cold meat....little difference; he paused, sniffing the air.
"Dig maggots, dig, you dig for Anubra, dig....We needs more." The Stirgoi whirled, looking about him. "Hurry hurry, we needs it, food, slaves...We's waiting...."

OOC: tag. Always nice to know about the past of my eternal foe!
"He has grown too big, he will lash out more once he gets the strength."
"He wouldn't dare.. or would he?"
"I do not know... send him a special message, limit his capabilities. Put a strangle hold on him, let him pay proper respect to us."
"I shall send a messenger right away."
The stocky man walked out quickly into the main hall of a massive stone castle. The walls were adorned with tapestries of gold and red, massive suits of pure silver shiney armor lined the hall. Every few feet there was a guard in red and gold robes, thier faces shrowded in mystery.
Several hours later a horse exited the man hall once again across a small bridge over a wide crystal clear moat. The horse and man rode for thirty hours straight, passing trees, rocks, hills, around a mountain and the occasional orc going lone wolf.
Finally as day turned to dusk, the horse rode up upon a castle and trotted up slowly towards the entrance. The man wore a dirty red cloak, with light leather armor underneath, the studs rusted and coppered.
The man dismounted and shouted, "Hail! I have a message from the empire!".

The doors were opened and a sickly looking servant strode forth, looking the new arrival up and down, sniffing at the air as he did, a sneer coming over his pale face as he tilted his head slightly, watching him.
"The Master..." He paused, smirking in superiority. "The Master has been expecting you; come...He will see you." And so the servant turned, beckoning the messenger through ancient and dank corridors to a great banquet room, where the Coutn sat, sipping at a dark red wine, or so it would appear, and watching, hiding his power, his evident undeath....
"Hail, you bring word of the Empire?"
The messenger walked in slowly. He kept one hand on his short sword sheathed on his hip, and the other hand holding the message, stamped in wax was the crest of the Empire.
He strode forward slowly and took in his surroundings, then stode forward more and set the letter down infront of the count.
"Word from the Empire, count."
He bowed respectfully and took a few steps back.
The message read as, 'Count. We have seen the growth of your mighty empire, and we shall reconize you as a power. Now all we ask is that you concede to the Empire. You are hereby ordered to affilate yourself with the Empire, relinquish all of your army and money to us when necesary, and follow our rule.'

Dark eyes skimmed the page, examining each word and syallable, his face visibly tightening, his wrath flaring in those dark eyes that now seemed to blaze.
"The door." He whispered, and the servant moved to close it. Markus rose, turning from the table and gazing out across the dark forests and moors of Chronosia. "Tell me, how vast is the Empire? How great its armies that it presumes to 'order' the House Von Carstein?" He turned again; was his skin more deathly pale than before; had his teeth grown? Was....Was that blood or merely rich wine?
"Your Empire...Shall never know my answer" It hissed, as he advanced upon the messenger. "But it shall know war; Chronosia is not a principality to be ordered!" He bellowed; the winds howling in concert with this being.
"I shall bow to no one! I shall concede to no one" His cold hands were around his throat, lifting him, before plunging those razor sharp teeth into his neck and drinking, feasting as never before, enjoying this dish tainted with fear and bearer of such glorious news...
War...There would be War.

Fergus Mac Dother was man amongst monster. Monster amongst man. Something so profound about him was his demeanor at all times. Cold, removed, and cunning. The Pictish Necronics had refused him membership. For they were afraid of him and his ability to rise through ranks easily. Fergus was rather fond of setting up massive lies that wove themselves in and out and ended in the destruction of his opponent. In a brilliant manuever at the Battle of Goidel he tricked over three hundred Kavanagh knights into attacking their own flank. Using his famous smoke and mirrors approach to command.
Now he found himself deep in Chronosia. Deep in a territory far removed from his own. His entire clan behind him. His vassals, knights, and farmers. His sons, daughters, and his wife. They were behind him. And his future was ahead of him. The jewel of the Mountains of Time themselves. And revenge on the Necronics of his own land. He would either make the Legions of Death tremble before him. Or command them himself. Those were his options...his only path. Fergus rode on a pure black steed. Javelins bounced in the saddle bags. He held the reigns to something other than his horse in his left hand though. Three Necronics chained and bound to him through their own rituals. He led them around like dogs. And he made them teach he and his clan their secrets and powers.
A scout raced back. "Vampiric manor up ahead. We should swerve around the village it overshadows though my lord. The graveyard is to massive." Fergus laughed and called up his knights. They conversed a moment before each nodded. The hunting horn was lifted as they raced towards the vampiric manor itself. The village would come later.

The Everqueen sat apon the throne of wood, her long red hair flowing down to her feet. She looked at Korhil who was making the report.
"...Strange sightings of the Undead rising, and of an diplomat going into the building and never leaving. I think we have the work of Vampires here my Lady." He said in a droning voice.
"Vampires do not Trouble me Korhil, you know that" She sighed. "The Druchii work far to well, I can not risk a invasion while we are off getting rid of this Over Powerful Vampire Count." Her eyes turned hard. "I wish for Teclis to go and investigate, should HE find the situation worthy, then I shall do something about it."
Teclis sighed, wipeing the sweat from his eyes. He and his Aprentice had been moving around the Counts Empire for a week or more, and he had found nothing more then a Vampire Counts Realm. Now he was moving to the court of the thing itself. He sighed, wipeing the dust from his face and looking at the thing before him.
"Hail" Came his elequent voice. "I come to talk to your ruler!"

The Doors opened and a servant shambled forth.
"The Master is in council at the moment, however, we would be most happy to have you wait, in one of his dining halls."
High above, in his main throne room, Markus was deep in conversation with one of the Necrarch's with whom he had forged an alliance; one that he hoped would serve him well in these dark times...The Empire sniffing around, and now Elves at his very door, the Necrarch seemed distracted though; talks of the Stirgoi, of fine subjects and foul repurcussions.
"My dear friend," Markus paused, reassuring him, "There is nothing to truly fear; the Stirgoi are limited in their influence over the locals, and should they try their....decrepit hand; we shall deal with them; right now, however...I have business to attend to."

Teclis nodded and went inside, his thin form looking weak in the light. He was far from weak though, through him was magic greater then any other he had met. "Welcome" The voice rose from the shadow as Markus himself descended the great staircase, skin annointed in blood and ash to make it appear more human.
"Long has it been since the High Elves have chosen to visit these lands; come, sit" He smiled, watching them, wary, cautious. "Already we have diplomats from the Empire at our door; and now such esteemed guests.."
Lessir Tsurani
21-04-2005, 02:32
Teclis nodded, then bowed low from the waist. "We have lived this land a long time, we do not need to be flattered by those who meddle in powers that are just less then the four powers in darkness." He smiled. "I will be civil, but to be honest, I don't belive in what you do." His face then went hard. "I feel death in these halls, what exactly have you been doing?"

"Me? Why nothing; I merely do what my forefathers have always done' strove to be the power in these lands, rightfully ours; behold the portraits that adorn these walls; all the way down the bloodlines, traceable, my lineage is." he turned, walking past the Elf.
"These lands are not as some others, they are not rich, they are not beautiful; save their own dark beauty; and the dead do not rest easily; they rise; as though the land itself were cursed." He chuckled. "That is what you smell; that, or the crypts below; where my forefathers...rest."

His knights had easily taken the manor. Now they rested and drank what they could of the vampire's cellar. Fergus shrugged at the village and walked down there himself. Casting many things aflame he called forth a man. He summoned a horse and told the man to carry a message.
The message read as thus:
I Fergus Mac Dother have taken a vampiric manor. My clan and I shall reside in this part of your land and we shall grow in size. Warriors from our clan will serve you as mercenaries. Should we decide it so then warriors from our clan shall serve you faithfully. Take full heed of us now. We are Mac Dother. And we are offering you peace.

A servant met the horseman at the door and took the message; pondering over it; they had the other diplomat in another room, awaiting the Count; but he knew that he, along with this new news, could not wait too long. Still, with his Master meeting the High Elves, he knew not what he could truly do...
And so he waited; while his Master skillfully worked his art upon the other.

OOC: I would like to play another land of High Elves, with the same units, but not the same special characters. I hope this is OK.
IC: tower of Escathar, Armillon, Caladonn
Archmage Aramil Holimion gazed out the spire of the Tower of Escathar, ancient residence of the rulers of Caladonn. Ever since he had become Archmage of the High Elven realm 200 years ago, he had proved an inspiring and intelligent leader. Recently, several events had been troubling him. It appeared that a new Vampire Count realm had been created under the leadership of one Markus von Carsthein. More vile foes for us to deal with, Aramil thought to himself. Another High Elf Realm and the Empire had already sent messengers to this new land. Aramil decided to send one of his own, to seek out the weaknesses of this new land. He turned, and talked to his Diplomatic Minister Quarion. "Quarion, you will teleport to this new land, and find out what you can about them. Of course I do not trust the undead one bit, but they can prove useful." Quarion nodded, and moved to an engraved circle and disappeared.
Outside of Markus' Castle, Chronosia
Quarion appeared in a puff of white smoke on the steps to the manor. He noticed two other humans also waiting. There are more than we knew of, He thought. He walked up to the door and eyed a sickly servant distastefully. Nonetheless, he began to speak. "I am Quarion, Senior Mage of the Diplomatic Ministry of Caladonn, and I come to speak with your leader." He drew back from the door and waited for a reply.

Teclis sighed, knowing the truth behind those words. He pulled himself up to full height, which would have proved more effective had he had the standing of his brother. But his body was thin and gaunt, and the move made him look like he could be pushed over with a stick.
"I request your leave to study the area, so my report to my mistress can be full, I would not wish to go to war." He spoke softly, his blue eyes watching.

22-04-2005, 00:38
Markus drank deeply of the goblet, smiling that dark sardonic smile.
"Nor would I, I would it were the world was free of war. Go, survey my lands all you wish; I have other matters to attend to, noble one, I trust you understand." He chuckled wryly "I am no servants of the Dark Powers, sir, I am merely a diplomat, making his way in this world...Nothing more, you have my leave and my humblest blessing...."

Now if only all Vampires where that nice He Teclis thought. He walked off, creating a magic net around him, feeling, probing. Still, he continued, never knowing where that last line might be.

The creatures moved through the graveyard, quick; cautious, yet growing bolder in the night. They mvoed through old Skaven tunnels below; gnawing at bones and flesh; Ghouls in the truest sense; dragging the new corpses to their dark Master, deep in the darkest tunnels, their taint seeping from twisted cold flesh.
"We brings the fresh ones; brings them here, nice and good; not like old bones; we do good; we do good" They bowed their heads, slinking into shadows, as the great throne creaked ansd the thing moved; this...King of Ghouls.
"Nice...We's almost ready; ready them, deep ones, old ones...Theres company at the Castle; and they come....Come they come they come..." He hissed, and snapped.

The Stirgoi attacked from the shadows, their fangs bared in dark anger; their eyes blazing with sanguine madness, as the living dead shambled after their ghoul Masters.
Markus chuckled slightly, high in his tower, looking out across the land, his powerful mind seeking others of his kind; the dark brothers of his will.
They were ready now...
Waves of dark promise seeped across the kingdom, the land itself withering as the necromantic energies were unleashed; the dead rising, the prepared armies of the Counts feeling life; the dark legions readying at his very command; his allies ready to march with him
"This Empire will last a thousand years; and it shall drink the world to its death" He hissed lightly. "Leave none alive; begin the culling of the peasants, enslave those who remain for blood...." He chuckled, his ring flowing with power, his entire being infused with longing.
His war would come swiftly.

Weeks before the meeting of Caladonn and Chronosia:
The queen was stirring deep in the mountains, something had disturbed the hive, Chaos was on the rise, an envoy must be sent, entreaties must be made, a warning had to be given, and only one of her minions was capable of giving this message. The second of the Hive was Kerrigan, a being that was once human, but had been changed by the magic of the Slivers until she resembled nothing that had ever been a mammal, they had saved her life, and she had become the queens right hand, the warleader of the hive, first of the overlords, and The Queen of Blades.
Kerrigan took a small escort, only ten slivers, 4 muscle, 1 mnemonic, 1 acidic, 1 plated, 1 crypt, and 2 guardians, massive beasts of armor and muscle and weapons, blades and steel had been merged with their flesh through the body-magic of the slivers, and they were more than just physical guardians, they had once been known as crystaline slivers, and their presence damped any magic that was turned against them or those near them, they were mental as well as physical guards, protecting mind and body from any who would do The Queen of Blades harm.

OOC: I'm referring to chaos as the power that corrupts, power is chaos, the more power, the more chaos, those who have the most power are often the most evil, but there are a few who remain strong against corruption and they are often stronger than the tools of chaos, now you understand, it's like my protoss, they are chaos, but they are good too, seeming paradox but in fact well reasoned philosophy.

Kerrigan and her group was having more and more trouble avoiding the populace, they could no longer move until well after dark, and had to stop hours before dawn, they continued to move though, killing all the monsters they found, and there were a surprising number of them this far into the Empire, the undead abounded, chaos was evident everywhere if you only had eyes to see it with, and orcs were nearly as thick, they could not make much distance with all of the corpses they left in trheir wake, and eventually someone would hear a battle between them and something(hint hint), and then they would have trouble.

Kerrigan and her band were close, they would reach their destination tonight, but they wre likely to have problems when they did, the guards were unlikely to take very kindly to something that looked inhuman, with inhuman escorts.

Keriggan had arrived, she was at the castle, now she only had to get inside.
"I am Sara Kerrigan, child of the queen, I seek audience with your master, open the gates and let me pass!!" A voice like 1000 cicadas echoed from the darkness, Kerrigan had spoken, now to see if she was allowed entrance, or if the guards would die.

"My Master has pressing business with other delegates; you shall have to wait." He bowed softly, turning and moving back into the darkness.
His Master would be done with the elves soon; so many visitors...Such an odd night.

I was much as you once, then the Queen saved my life, I owe her everything now, everything you say to me she hears, everything I say she knows, and everything I do she sanctions, but I digress, there is no time for compromise or begging, if I fail courtsey shall be a thing of the past, I rescind my statement of before, we can dispense with courtsey in a time as desperate as this."

Zlatkai a slann of the second spawning stired from his contemplation, he could feel along the lines of power a change in the world, A change that was not a part of the Old Ones Plan. There were forces moving to war, against one another. The darker force, unplaned force was the more powerful moving in the direction of war. The younger races would not be able to correct this themselves. The Lizardmen servants of the Old Ones would intervine, and restore order to the world. He used the telepathic like he had with his skink servant. He woulds bring the greatest of the Saurs in the city to him.

This could bode well or ill for him; but regardless; he knew it would not hinder the entirety of his eventual plans.
Too much was at stake now; too much at risk for anything to go wrong. He must be cautious and ruthless. As great and terrible as his ancestors; and yet subtle as a serpent.

Loqgor was th eldest Saurs Warrior in the city and more impressive then that he rode a Carnosaur in battle. He was a cunning leader and led the Saurs Warriors of Tlaztlan against many an enemy, he was victroius in every encounter. He however did not have much use for diplomacy and politics. That was the job of Tzahuan, his skink counter part.
Tzahuan was a skink preist and a powerful one at that, he was still no match for a Slann. His job was to represent the city of Tlaztlan, and to serve as Diplomat and general voice of the Slann when the Saurs went to war.
They were leading 2000 Saurs, 4000 Skinks, 500 Saurs Cavalry, 250 Kroxigor and 3 Stegadons through a portal that ran along a line of power, they would arrive at the outside of the area the disturbance was centered about 100 leagues away. From there they were to gather the younger races and destroy this blight on the Old Ones Plan. The portal was apperaed to be a vortex, however it was stable an unchnaged by chaos, it would trnasport all of the lizardmen, they passedthrough the portal.
