*Xaiver Delryn cleared his voice, slowly mounting the podium as the camera adjusted on the figure. Wearing an impeccably cut military uniform of black make, a green sash over his shoulder and silver epaulets, he looked regal and grim. He had right to be, for Crownguard had not seen war in some mesure of years, and yet honour dictated that something be done. He looked to the camera, broadcasting a message to the world, for those with the foresight to listen. In the background, soft military music plays as the High Guardian addresses the camera live.*

"Nations of the world, genocide is once again upon us. One of the most heinous of crimes, it is the execution of others not by justice, law, or any human failing. No, it is a crime based upon blood, the right of birth and being allowed to live. The nation of Crimmond has violated that right, the right to live that so many have strived for, bled for, fought for and died for. The rights that many here would take for granted, and look away with apathy.

The Enlightened Empire of Crownguard will not stand for this. This atrocity, this unconscionable act will not be allowed to fester and spread. This blight on the conduct of all civilized society is indicative of a greater threat, when life, ALL life, is measured as only resources to be bled. We have seen the horrors of war, we have struggled with maintaining our dignity in the face of despair. How much more terrifying then, that such an incident can occur without recourse?

There is a recourse, civilized beings of the worlds. There is a force for righteousness that burns, that eagerly seeks to take up the cause of the weak and fearful. It is to this force that Crownguard will pledge itself, its lifeblood founded in the ideals of duty and chivalry. Crimmond must not be allowed to perpetrate this act, or I, and my fellow countrypeople, shudder at the thought in civilized society.

Who will stand up for justice? Who will not hide behind the thin veneer of "national sovereignty" in order to protect those who cannot protect themselves? Who else will stand for dignity, for civilization, for honour? If we must, we will fight this fight alone, and die alone. If it must be, it must be. I ask though, that you consider my words this day. For barbarity unchecked is barbarity supported. We beg for peace, but are committed to war if it must be. We will not back down, nor will we be intimidated by the strength of Gholgoth. May the fates be kind to those who support idealism and benevolence, strength and honour.

I bid you good day."

The intel brief landed on the desk of the Intelligence Sub-Director charged with monitoring external affairs. In truth, the VIS was subdivided into departments made up of legions of experts from various backgrounds tasked with monitoring, analyzing, and then summarizing any and all manner of intelligence. And there were quite a few sub-directors.

A fin opened the report and the Sub-Director peered at the contents and then sighed. He then dictated his own thoughts and included an encrypted copy of the brief up to the Intelligence Director.

The nation of Crownguard is attempting to gather international support to actively oppose genocide within Crimmond. The latter is within the region of Gholgoth. Recommend monitoring of the situation, as we have no formal ties nor obligations to either side. Should be interesting if far more powerful powers and alliances become involved, such as the Triumvirate of Yut and in particular Menelmacar. Also a possibility that the ICEL would also take notice. Will record action or inaction of supposed anti-genocide alliances.

This supposedly 'enlightened' Empire should keen their faces in the dust, "and their eyes lowered. Gholgothan affairs are Gholgothan affairs, and though I think there are far better ways to deal with undesireables, other than genocide, it is not for me to say.

Nor is it for a nation of bootlick dogs like Crownguard to criticize a nation of Gholgoth., for your cause is already lost. I urge you to check your course here, for at its end is only bones and ash. The affairs in Crimmond are no concern of yours, but should you press this matter... Well, there is no need for threats, hmm?

Crimmond is a sovereign nation, and encroachment upon their national identity will not be tolerated."

**Another press conference was held, this time the crowd gathered was noticeably more subdued than before.**

"Crimmond has grown complacent, its militaries still bloody from illegitimate civil war. We have stood the test of time, as none have ever had the audacity to set foot on our lands. Woe be the fools who presume to do so. Unfortunately, Crimmond has not read its history books, or else the machinations of its intelligence services are flawed if they think this fight will end in victory. There is no victory in opposing the righteous. It is in this spirit that General Alibakkar has come from retirement to assist in this great struggle, this war for liberation that must be enacted. General?"

A grim faced man took the stage, a scar on his cheek readily apparent as his skin seemed to be pure leather.

"My Lord High Guardian, esteemed peoples of the world. Mobilization has been enacted as per Royal Directive 3.2. The Royal Army Dragoons, the Air Force, Navy, and Marines have been called to duty, as have auxiliary soldiers. Verchak speaks of fighting and dying with honour. There is no honour in their actions, nor does his huddling behind his allies show the sort of honour he seeks to parody. Regardless, we will not back down from this, not till Verchak sees the devastation that Crownguard has been holding in wait. He gloats with his actions, his Civils tearing through his streets with impunity."

*He looked angered, pounding the desk.* "No more! No more will such a travesty be flaunted in the faces of the nations of the world. Our combat ready Dragoons are eager to stain steel and stone with the blood of the unclean oppression. If Verchak thinks this fight will be limited to his warped conjectures, he is sorely mistaken. I assure you, we are prepared to fight as long as necessary with any means neccessary to restore order to this wayward nation. A nation held in the grip of a tyrant. Our people are ready, our soldiers our ready. All are ready to fight to the death in this struggle for liberty. The question will remain whether Verchak can say the same of his forces, using his Civils to quell dissent. They have become fat on the blood of the innocent, and it is time to ease their going, along with their despot leader.

They speak of the fates as weakness, their arrogance astounding in the face of their flaunted crime, yet they rely on biological freaks as their vanguard to protect their rule. *He chuckled slightly, shaking his head.* We shall see who is the victor in the days to come.

Verchak has 24 hours to cease this genocide of the non-human races, before the war begins. He would do well to pray to those fates he derides for mercy in the face of this coming conflict."

Flash Memo From:

Office of the High Guardian

Sir,

Such a sovereign nation has come about after three civil wars, until power was seized by a despot who had been frozen for years. I do not call that a sovereign or legitimate entity of governance, especially one who is so easily willing to slay his own people for no crime other than being 'non-human'.

You will find your nation a ravaged wasteland fit only for the cockroaches should you proceed in this endeavour to support such a travesty of justice. It is unfathomable how Tersanctus could ally with such carrion-eaters, but rest assured, your corpses shall feed new life at the cessation of these hostilities. In that, at least, you serve a purpose in death, if not in life.

The Evenstar's reply was curt, and to the point,"Your challenge is accepted. Come then, to Gholgoth. The Dying Ground was named by fools like you."

The explosion of Panteran mobilization happened near instantly. The Homeland fleet, fresh from Automagfreek, slid from Panteran waters into the narrow strip of neutral waters that boundaried the seas of Crimmond. Here the gargantuan fleet broke apart, seperating into a hundred smaller battlegroups. They settled in to wait, then, a couple of the groups breaking away to return to Toke, and the celebration of the Tersanctan addition into the Blood Pact.

In far Britain, another fleet began it's preperations for the open sea. The Warhound had sat, with fifty thousand Reavers and near five-hundred vessels, off the coast of Britain for months, loafing and doing nothing. The European theater was quiet, and for the nonce, the Hound was damn tired of dawdling. These Crownguard fools wanted to taste Panteran blood, eh?

Orders were issued, guns checked, planes fueled, farewells made, and by dusk, the old Reaver had sailed, his giant fleet battle-ready by the time it sliced into the Atlantic. Above, a dozen of his AtmosFighters skipped along at high altitudes, alert for trouble, while below the waves rode a score of sleek submarines, their instruments sounding the depths.

The warriors milled about on the ships, battle hardened veterans, all of them, with a mind to spill Crownguard blood, and to set an example. The Panteran nation, and the lands of Gholgoth, would go to war. And woe to those who stood against them.

Secretary General Alendai of the Marxist-Leninist Socialist Party of MLSR schuckled as he watched the figure on screen. As the picture faded, he turned round to his councellors.
'Darikov, compose a message to Crownguard, stating that we will take up arms with them as brothers in a global struggle. The yound MLSR needs action and motivation, methinks.' Darikov rose, bowed, and left the room. As he left, Alendai heaved himself out of his chair and opened a door directly behind him. It was the propoganda studio, and was always ready for broadcast. As he marched in, the sleepy camera crew jumped to attention. The leader straightened his tie, walked into the set and stared at the camera as the operator counted down till action.
'Comerades!' He boomed. 'I have distressing news. Our allies Crownguard have been provoked brutally by the nation of Crimmond; a country of liars, theives and imperialists guilty of a terrible genocide. The borders of MLSR are now in danger! I beseech you, good comerades, to take up arms, and protect your motherland! Do not let dogs scratch at your walls, drive them away!
Only fools would dare to attack us and our allies. Already our enemies flood in their thousands towards Crownguard. Our army is too few in numbers to defeat this primitive and poorly-armed rabble. Join your fellow soldier, spill your enemies blood, let forth your cries, do not shame your cause. Join me in my quest for peace, honour and above all, glory in great battle!' He shouted, slamming his fist down at intervals. The camera cut off.
''Get me my generals,' he ordered his aide. 'We can broadcast more when we know more.'

To the leaders of Crownguard, the nation of MLSR has taken up your plea for help. We are ready to supply whatever we can to the cause. Reply soon, MLSP.

Though we applaud the noble attempt of Crownguard and MLSR to stop their heinous crimes against themselves jumping into this hornet's nest is quite foolish in our opinion. Ah yes, the rejects of Arda rejoice to create their own identity while being laughed at by the world. But if I am mistaken, and none of you left Arda what will I hear? The customary insults from a cloned leader suffering from amnesia and quite possibly the down syndrome as well. His lackeys Pantera, Samtonia and stableboy Crimmond. It's indeed amusing to see how nations throw off their own sovereignity and wear the shackles of oppression and the burdens of being his slave with pride - only to serve their master. And before you come to me, demanding I wage war on you on your 'homelands', our answer is no. Cowardice? Frightened by your appearance? No. We are superior to your kind, and wasting time and ammunition on you isn't worth it. That would be like killing off rats with silver bullets. You are the rats, we are the silver bullets."

Crimmond

[Reposted from the other thread:]

For a time, no message came from Crimmond to anyone. That was allways a sign that there was something very inportant and very bad on the horizon.

Nearly four hours after the ultimatum, the military across the European lands of Crimmond are in full mobilization, the new Civils being deployed to all the border cities, along with Assault Marines. The Gholgoth garrison, charged with protecting the new province there, readies it's own defenses along the shoreline.

At sea, the Vladimir Carrier Group continued on it's normal patrols. They sent normal status reports but made no effort to race home. They were actually sailing away from Europe...

Varchak was befuddled by that decision. "General, I know you are the military man I am the bussiness man... but I don't think that sending away our only sea based air platform is a wise decision."

Marco looked up from the maps on the large desk. "Sir, look here... the only force that teh enemy can detect without rediculously sophisticated technology is the Vladimir."

"So?" Davion looked at the maps and still seemed uneasy.

The General just smiled. "Sir, a wise Chinese man once wrote 'If you are near the enemy, make him believe you are far from him. If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near.' That is exactly what I am doing. The Supremacy Class Submarine is the best defense force we have at sea. The two Domination class subs are out there too. Sir, we have over a thousand submarines. That is one of the largest, if not the largest submarine force in the world and is damn sure the largest proportionally..."

That got the Overlord's attention. "Sun Tzu... I read that many years ago. Something about 'If I determine the enemy's forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while they are fragmented.' That's what you're doing." He got a nod and Varchak smiles as the two left the room, for the conferance that was allready delayed twice.

---------

Varchak and General Marco stood side by side in front of the cameras, two Civils looming in the background, almost a head taller than each of them. Varchak spoke first. "The very first thing I'd like to express is my undying shock that a Roanian said that they support me in any way, shape or form. That is one for the history books... but I have more pressing matters to deal with at this moment. We have been sent a challenge. A challenge to cease and desist our culling or face war. I'm sorry, but I don't take kindly to threats. I have ordered the entirety of the Crimmond Marine Corps* to mobilize and be combat ready within the next 30 hours.

"The 'esteemed' leader of Crowngaurd hopes that the fates will favor his forces. I wouldn't put my money on a leader that prays to the fates for help. I much prefer relying on good old fashioned soldiers to save my nation from decimation." He turns to Marco. "Therefore, I'm going to do what allsmart politicians do. Let the Generals be Generals." He steps back.

Marco looked into the cameras. "I will persoanlly be coordinating the efforts of all three branches of the Corps, to maximize the impact of each on the enemy. With the support of the Freeks and the might of Gholgoth, I don't doubt the outcome of this war at all. The only doubt in my mind is about how many lives will be lost in winning it." His face grows harder. "To all soldiers in this war, be they of Gholgoth or of Crowngaurd and whatever allies they may summon... Fight like men. Die with honor."

[OOC: *The Crimmond Marine Corps encompasses what would be the Army, Navy, Marines and Airforce of the USA. The Navy of Crimmond is entirely space based and has a longstanding policy of 'what the Marines get themselves into, they get themselves out of' and rarely assist the ground based forces. This is the IC solution to the OOC problem of Future-Tech/Modern-Tech clashes. Therefore, unless someone else brings in a space fleet, mine will just kick back and make some popcorn.]

[Which is before "Crimmond has grown complacment" and the folowing that is after it]

The carrier was soon out of range of Crimmond Airspace, continuing to cruise south, only one aircraft overhead at a time. This seeming breech of all sanity was, of course, all ordered by General Marco, who was currently contacting all his Commanding Officers in the field, issuing orders to expect a large scale invasion, despite the words of the enemy. He also sent word of his thanks to the Roanians, but declined to let them into the nation without a fight. His exact words were "What incentive do you have to come to Crimmond, a nation whose bi-centenial plan is to finally get out of these damned caves? Sorry... you want into Crimmond, you're going to have to try to come in with the enemy."

He, personally, had no incentive to even consider an invasion of Crowngaurd. Crimmond was not in any real shape to support such an operation and defend the Empire at the same time. He thought that best left to the rest of Gholgoth.

In the field General Meridius stood by a Swarm Anti-Missile Battery as he isued orders to four other generals, modifying troop deployments to create thousands of overlapping fire points on the coast and create millions of booby traps along the border, incase they decided to come from a less protected front.

Varchak and most of his advisors were taken to a facility in what was once Baggera, one Davion had designed himself. Sealed from teh horrors of any nuclear or biochem attack, with enough food for three times the people with him. A half squad of civils and a half squad of Assault Marines was also with them, prowling the corridors as the group set up their hidden operation, intending to monitor the war only, not direct it. Davion wasn't a coward, but he was damn sure no fool.

[now my actual post:]

General Meridius stood in the command post and faced the single camera there. "Furher Rundevelt, I'd advise you to shut your mouth and open your eyes. We may have a good sized holding in Gholgoth, but we are still here, in Europe and on your border. Your Eastern border is splayed open like a whore's legs, waiting for us to ravage it. So I would advise you not to jump into the hornet's nest as well."

Another General stood on a surfaced Supremacy Class Submarine, off the coast of Gholgoth. He was surveying the Panteran fleet with his field glasses. "Very good. Anyone caught in these waters will be lucky to get out with only a few bodyparts missing." He smiles at the Captain of the vessel, marked as SCS-01 CSS Monitor and went below. "Get the Panteran fleet on the horn. Tell them that there are two hundred Supremacy class subs in these waters, with timed warhead torps. If we miss an enemy, the torpedos will detonate before they reach the main Panteran battlegroups. Inform him that another few hundred are prowling the poisionus waters of the Baltic, damn Wazzu for that little event, and the North Atlantic. The rest could really be anywhere. I don't know." The message was relayed and signed off with the General's name and position.

Shijin could not beleive it.

Never could he imagine that a day such as this would come.

Two nations he had sworn a blood oath too, at war.

On the one hand Crownguard, The High Guardian carried the very Katana that Edmund once carried, as a symbol that Crownguard and Tersanctus, were as one.

And here in Gholgoth, He had sworn an allegiance to Pantera and Automagfreek, "as brothers; to Valhalla, we shall drag the waters of war."

No matter what was decided, one would be betrayed, and one would be honored. Or all would be betrayed, if neutrality was declared. And yet Neutrality was not an option.

A news conference opens on international channels.

At the screen is Shijin Kotmari; Emperor and Executor of the United Dominion and Empire of Tersanctus. Behind him the National Flag, and garbed with the Emperor's dark suit he is obviously stressed, his ashen face shows the toll of many hours of thought and pain that brought him to the testamental moment.

"To Xavier Delyrn; High Guardian of Crownguard, carrier of Deathstroke, and Brother of My Nation. You know that what you ask of me, I cannot do. What you ask is same as asking me to kill my own citizens, or yours. Crimmond is an Ally by Extension, whatever my opinion is, I am sworn to defend Gholgoth, and further Join Pantera, and Automagfreek in an Unbreakable Blood Pact.

Were you some mere enemy, I would not speak with love or respect, as I do now. You would be warned, then destroyed. Rather I ask of you, the unthinkable. I ask you, as the blood of your nation runs in mine, and I yours. Stand Down, rethink this venture, while I may not agree with Crimmond's actions, I still repsect the Soveriegnity, and ask the same of you.

There will be other ventures, other days, other battles to fight. This one Nation, will not be worth the destruction that would befall you. We will create the world we seek, but we cannot do it foolishly, and we cannot do it divided. Even if I chose to betray Dayne and Damien, I alone could not hold back the tempest that would consume us both, leaving us as little more than footnotes in history. See reason in my words, see the love that I hold truly for Crownguard and Tersanctus. This I would ask of you"

Transmission to All Involved Nations
Well, first I would just like to say, on behalf of Samtonia as a whole and the Council of thirteen in general a note of thanks towards those Nazis over in Guffingford. We’re generally ignored outright or lumped in with allied nations of AMF. Now it appears we’ve moved a step up, to “lap dog.” Which we really are quite proud of. Now, you’ll see a picture of Fritzi the dachshund in a moment. He is our official lapdog. The Samtonian mascot, if you will. And we’ve sculpted a nice little bush for him in the shape of Guffingford.

And you’ll see Fritzi over there urinate momentarily on the Guffingford bush. Don’t you love metaphors over there in fascist land? We do in Samtonia. You see, that was a lap dog pissing on a bush in the shape of Guffingford. I don’t think one needs to be a master of English literature to catch the meaning of that metaphor. And one question. If Gholgoth is the rats and you're the bullets, who is the gun? Cosmic explosive force? Aliens? An even bigger region?

But we’ll move on, past the urine soaked bush of Guffingford, to more important matters at hand. You see, declaration of war on a nation that’s our ally isn’t nice. Sure, genocide is bad. In fact, we would take the different races being….killed, as some put it. But those crazies over in Crimmond, they never cease to amaze.

But our bond runs deep. Sure, killing is bad, but you’ll be killing Crimmonese if you get your way. So I’ll let God decide who was the bad guy here. Until then, Samtonia has its full support pledged to fellow Gholgoth nations, which include Crimmond. And yes, we’ll mobilize, but we won’t attack anyone unless gholgoth or a member of the region is attacked first.

Little secret. We’re the only sane ones in the region. So dealing with us might just be the best course of action sometimes. Not that AMF isn’t sane…..well, they’re not, but still. You may want to try to reach some type of….non-violent and non-economic disrupting activity. But hey, we love a good fight. If that’s what you want.

A very weary Xavier Delryn takes the stage inside the Command Post, looking to the screen. he had spent the night up, pouring over reports. The public, and private, messages from the Executor had caught him off guard, and he still had trouble stifling this. Fortunately, the message from MLSR had cheered him, and the response he had tendered to its leader was most favourable.

"At the request of our blood brethren in Tersanctus, we are willing to meet in concert to discuss what has been occuring in the situation in Crimmond. Our bond is indeed deeply felt, and so I hesitantly offer a flag of truce in order to discuss this with the aforementioned nations. We do this only in the spirit of brotherhood with our fellow nation, and the blood that stained both our lands once. Know this, this is not a support of the policies of the aforementioned nation Crimmond, as you have set the world against you. I will meet with you all, though it is only at the greatest reluctance. If you deign not to respond to this, or act in any manner less than honourable, war will commence, and the price will be inordinately high.

We offer the flag of truce only at the request of family. For indeed the Executor and myself are kin, sworn in concert. We leave the decision to the nations of Gholgoth whether to speak in concert, or else press this war to terrible ends."

"Diplomacy." Dayne nearly spat the word. A vile thing, diplomacy. It allowed the weak to thrive and the strong to acquiesce to lesser beings. Nonsense, in his opinion, but it did have it's merits, though at the moment he was hard pressed to name even one.

This Crownguard had insulted Crimmond, challenged Gholgoth, and in general had made quit the nuisance of themselves. And now, Shijin asked them to discuss terms of pace? It was shit, and it stunk of such. With the Panteran fleet in the Atlantic, Guffingford was no real threat. Any fleet leaving said nation would encounter severe problems enroute to Gholgoth, though their ordeal would pale in comparison to the nightmare that any enemy force would have attempting to invade Gholgoth.

No, diplomacy was a waste of time, here. Crownguard was a nation of braggarts and fools, and their armies dashing themselves to pieces against the rock that was Gholgoth would set a fine, fine example to future fools and braggarts.

The Evenstar hurriedly dispatched a message to Crimmond:"

Allow not the flowery words of these wretched cravens to fool you. These dogs mean harm to Crimmond, and ultimately, Gholgoth. Bring them to us. Challenge their Honor. Bring them to our waters, and we will annihilate their forces with such ferocity that never again will fools think of Gholgoth without thinking of their own Doom.

Trust them not. No half measures. No accord. One mustn't negotiate with such filth, for they are already dead, and their word is worth as much as one of their cowering solders. It is worth nothing.

A private message greeted the Evenstar soon after his was recieved.

Evenstar, do not fear about me being decieved. I only do this to save the leadership of Tersanctus from having to decide which sworn ally to betray. If I can end this now, I must. I cannot and will not force such a decision on an ally.

The negotiations will be short, I assure you. They will either agree to my terms, or they will face Gholgoth in a war that shall shake the continents themselves.

Two Vastivan Changeling SST's slid into the waters around Crimmond, silent observers of what was to come.

Far distant, each saught a place towards the bottom, close enough to allow them that depth comfortably, far enough away to remain away from any distinctly offensive perception, should they be detected.

OOC: This is a reply from a post in the other thread. Can I also ask that since I'm also a European nation where in Europe everyone is?

The Overlord is unavailible at this time, being in a secure location. He is far too important to this nation to let him be exposed to attack at this time. As to your request about the operation.... the Empire weighed the costs of deportation to culling. In the end, deportation proved to be the more expensive of the two. I understand your protests against these acts. Unfortunatly... we were ebtting that your type of response would be the strongest we would recieve. War isn't cheap. In terms of money or lives...

And with these terror tactics... it seems we rolled snake eyes when it comes to the budget.

"Perhaps our motives are misunderstood. We do not wish to seek war with Crimmond, Automagfreek or any of the nations in Gholgoth. We are merely seeking to end a potentially dangerous situation in the most peaceful of terms, as well as to preserve the lives of the Elves. As for the deportations: if costs are your main worry, then the Romans themselves will provide all the transportation needed as well as foot all the costs. We hope you will consider, Chief Advisor."

"Perhaps we should offer our services to Crownguard."

"Indeed."

"What do we care if some nation kills elves?"

"We care quite a lot. Those are resources that we can use being wasted."

"Very well. Let us take a vote, then. Either way, prime the ravens to haunt the battlefields. Let none say that we missed this opportunity. If war does come, that will be more life-energy for our purposes."

The vote came out 4-2, with 1 abstaining. A message was sent to Crownguard chiding them for drawing the attention of the world upon themselves, congratulating them on choosing to negotiate, and informing that DIR soldiers were in the offer for homeland defence should negotiations break down.

From the Officer of the High Guardian:

It would be preferred that a meeting can be arranged on neutral ground in this conflict between the leaders involved personally, perhaps in the Tersanctan capitol. It is unfortunate, but in this situation, I do not trust anyone to truly speak for another save the representative themselves. I believe leader to leader, we can resolve this issue. I will be meeting in person, escorted by a small diplomatic guard. I trust and ask you to send Varchek to do the same.

The quarreling states appear to be agreeing to talks. These will be held at either Rome or the capital of the United Empire and Dominion of Tersanctus."

"Very well, Lady Faren," Chairwoman Sikura responded, "but why is it that you bring this matter to this meeting? Such international affairs are well within your department, are they not?"

"I wish to send an agent of Enn to this meeting. We have longstanding agreements with the Roman Empire. And it was decided in the Declaration of the Triumvirate that any such actions would require a consensus from all three members."

The Chairwoman sat back in thought. After a brief pause, she spoke again.

"Very well, Lady Faren. You have my support. Chief Justice Loreni?"

"I have no disagreements with this plan," he replied. "It would be helpful for Enn to be seen as a calm, reasoned influence in such discussions. Lady Faren, you have the full support of the Triumvirate in this undertaking."

Official Statement Released from the Soviet Bloc Ministry of Foreign Affairs

"The Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc, being an ally of Crownguard, wishes to state its intentions of joining this 'conference.' We wish to see only the best for all involved parties, and we hope that peace can be attained. However, if the situation should quickly devolve, we shall not hesitate in our military support of Crownguard. A representative of the Armed Republic has been dispatched immediately for the conference grounds. The representative is Hektor Kamarov, Foreign Affairs Minister and a close advisor to the Kagan himself, Viktor R. Dokhturov. The aircraft carrying the diplomat will be, en route, escorted by five fighter aircraft [F-78A Sokol] periodically refueled by carrier-based light replenishment aircraft until the aircraft near Tersanctan airspace, where they will be diverted to the nearest Soviet Bloc airbase, carrier group, expeditionary fleet, or amphibious assault fleet. The diplomat himself will be escorted by a small number of bodyguards which will remain on the aircraft unless permitted to escort the diplomat and his aides."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with the wishes of Kagan Viktor R. Dokhturov
-Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc

==================

With the notice of the conference being dispatched, and the allowance of allies of the affected nations, Hektor Kamarov had been summoned from his vacation and thrown aboard a JC-121D, a diplomatic variant of the C-121 in prolific use with the Air Force. The aircraft had been whisked into the air with a number of escorts in tow, heading towards the nation of Tersanctus...

"So, what is the situation with Crownguard?" asked Kamarov as he situated himself in the seat of the JC-121D, a heavily modified variant of the medium cargo transport in prolific use with the air force. The question was directed at Svetlana Ghevinsk, an aide to the Kagan specializing in foreign affairs.

"Well... It appears our ally issued a statement condemning genocide in the nation of Crimmond. And that, well, didn't make them very happy... Threats quickly ensued along with alot of name-calling. Its like... What is it I'm thinking of..."

"School? Playground?"

Her face lit up, "Aha! That's it. Yes, like little children bickering. One says something perfectly reasonable, potentially inflaming, and the rest ignite like gasoline vapor. Frankly, its kind of pathetic, but they're at least going the diplomatic route instead of lobbing missiles at each other." She could see Kamarov nodding in quiet agreement. "Anyways, why didn't you know about this?"

Kamarov leaned his head back, sighing, "I was on vacation... Second day of a week long vacation, just settled in and I get the call. Before I know it I'm thrown on the plane and I'm heading towards a conference because of a statement I never even knew existed until I happened to glance into that encyclopedia worth of information crammed into my intelligence packet..." He quietly reflected, "So, they angered Gholgoth... Gholgoth... What a stupid name." He turned his head towards her, "Who names themselves Gholgoth?" He quickly stopped, he was getting carried away again, he had that habit...

"Well sir, we'll see what happens... I doubt our presence would change anything though." She glanced out the window and eyed one of the F-78As which lingered off in the distance, its cockpit lit in an eery red glow and the two crew undoubtedly conversing about something through their DNIs. The black aircraft stayed perfectly level, likely on autopilot, while the pilot and his weapons officer occasionally glanced around. The craft was enshrouded in the enclosing darkness, yet still lit by the faint remnants of sunlight. Her mind drifted away, what would it be like to have a DNI. She shuddered, the sheer invasion of privacy...

"Inform General Marco to reinforce the Russian border as best he can. We don't need a million odd Soviets storming the borders with only minor resistance. Radio Riok's jet. Things just got a bit more interesting."

An aide ran off to do those two tasks as she looked at one of her own Inquisitors. "The culling is become too much of a problem for the Empire. Deploy all the Inquisitors to the camps and cities. We're going to finish this operation now."

The plane soon arrived over Tersanctus airspace and followed the traffic control's commands. Oran dispensed with the pleasentries to whoever picked him up at the airport. IC:

The great warship slid into the waters of Tersanctus, and soon after into port. From the gargantuan, Plunder Class, warship came a massive Reaver. Clad in black leather and chainmail, he was a relic of times a thousand years gone. Bearded and roughly handsome, the warrior must have stood seven feet tall and weighed three hundred or more pounds. An old broadsword was slung across his back, plain steel with a sweat-stained leather covered hilt.

At first glance, the man could have been mistaken for the Lord Reaver himself, but it was not so. This man's eyes were a crystal blue, rather than the blazing indigo of the Evenstar's own House Vayne. Instead of Dayne's twin, wrist-thick braids, the shining hair of this one hung loose about his shoulders.

Gaise Starshone. Lord of the Blacktides and, in the absence of the Warhound, Lord Paramount of the Blood Bay. He was also Dayne's closest companion since the loss of Bastien, and his half-brother. A warrior of some repute, he had never achieved the fame and reverence that his brothers had. No, he had been content to serve them, not to rule in his own right.

And serve he would, here in Tersanctus. Diplomacy was a gift he had mastered, unlike his brother Dayne. He had been gifted with a silver tongue and an easy manner. These were but the satin sheathe of his true strength, though. Aside from the blood of Valanus Vayne, in his veins ran the blood of the Lord Reaver's berserkers. His mother had been a woman of the dread Rigante. A man of gentle actions and violent rages, he was.

And it would be him who would represent Pantera in this Fool's Council, as Dayne had been calling it. In his breast pocket he carried the decree of the Lord Reaver himself, authorizing him to commit Pantera and all of her furious anger to the annihilation of those who thought that Gholgoth would recieve terms from anyone.

He was not pleased, however. Mostly, he was content to remain in the shadows, allowing Dayne and his faithful Hound to oversee the wants of the Free Lands. Now, though, Dayne was knee-deep in mobilization, while the Warhound lurked in the Atlantic, awaiting word from Dayne to return to Pantera, or to sail wth haste for the European holdings of Crimmond and to begin preperations for a bloody war.

Open letter to the regional powers involved in negotiations with Crimmond.

Dear Sirs/Madams,

As you may be aware, over the past week the UN Pretenama Panel has been conducting an investigation into allegations that Crimmond has been committing genocide. The Panel found that genocide was been committed, and indeed, Crimmond has made an official admission that this was the case.

Consequently, we are now writing to you to offer, and indeed urge you to consider, some alternative courses of action. Rather than kill all non-human beings within Crimmond, we propose that:

1) All Elves (and other non-human beings being killed) be allowed to leave the country and transported to other nationstates, at no cost to yourself. Transportations shall be provided by a coalition of nations wishing to see an end to the genocide.

OR

2) The creation of a UN safe haven on the border of Crimmond where Elves (et al) can be relocated and be safe from further threats of genocide.

We would like to stress that the Pretenama Panel wishes to resolve this matter in a peaceful manner and in a way that appeases all parties involved. If you have any queries or issues, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. We hope that these terms are acceptable and that the situation can be resolved as soon as possible.

Regards,

The UN Pretenama Panel.

The Triumvirate again met on the matter of Crimmond.

"Lady Faren, I trust you are not wasting our time," Chairwoman Sikkura opened. "You already have our support on sending an Ennish representative to the negotiations."

"There have been several disruptions," Faren replied. "Crimmond objected to a phrase used by Rome, and is calling for the negotiations to be without any involvement from neutral parties, with the exception of the host nation Tersanctus."

"That is a pity," Chief Justice Loreni sighed. "So you called us to a full meeting to tell us this? Or is there something more?"

"The Pretenama Panel has handed down its judgement of guilty. The nations involved are currently discussing whether to begin military involvement, or keep to negotiations. It appears that an attempt at negotiations is being made."

"Then why the long face?" Chairwoman Sikura enquired, with a grin. "Oh, you wanted to play at war games, did you? Yssandra Faren, always the one to try to exploit any situation."

Faren sat in silence for several moments, then spoke.

"I am calling for a vote of the Triumvirate as to whether Enn should become involved in an armed conflict, should it reach that stage. Crimmond has admitted that it is conducting a genocide of its non-humans. I do not believe that any such state deserves existance."

Sikura and Loreni remained still. Faren continued.

"I know that Enn's own military is only a defensive organisation. We have neither the funds nor the manpower for an international campaign. However, our network of agents could well aid our fellow nations in this endeavour."

Finally, Justice Loreni responded.

"I accept your words. While I do not like to countenance war of any kind, sometimes we must stand up. As you say, we cannot send troops, but we can aid the non-humans of Crimmond in other ways."

"So we have a majority." Faren smiled. "I will contact the Pretenama Panel with this news."

"It was not our intention to state where the negotiations should be held. We were hoping to stage them in Rome, but it appeared from your message that you didn't want to go there. "Lady Faren, Lord Chief Justice, I have news that should interest you both."
Chairwoman Sikura was obviously grappling with her emotions, she was livid. She continued, "I have just received word that half a million troops from Enn's army have been assigned to some sort of multilateral force. Information beyond that is hard to get. Lady Faren, is this something to do with Crimmond?"

"Do you truly think that Enn could stand by while genocide occurs?" Lady Faren replied cooly. "The Pretenama Panel has been rebuffed in its attempt to seek a diplomatic solution to this problem. The only remaining solution is a military one."

"Lady Faren, are you saying that you have sent a sizable portion of Enn's army into a conflict, without the knowledge of either Justice Loreni or myself?" Sikura was nearly shouting now.

"Someone needed to do it. And indeed, what are you going to do? The army is under my funding and my control. I saw a need for it to be used, so I used it. They cannot be withdrawn now."

"Of course. You've boxed us into a corner. If we withdraw, we lose face with all our allies," Sikura concluded.

"Well, there is that, but what I meant was that currently there is no capability to withdraw them. The Battle Command Centre has been locked down as the result of an assassination attempt. Our military personnel, those that aren't already there (and hence uncontactable) have now been assigned to another commander."

Justice Loreni broke his silence. "Who did you send as our military commander? We have only minimal experience, and no true tacticians. Who did you trust to lead the Grand Army of Enn to victory?"

"Lieutenant Colonel Amalya Xzelyn. She has had experience in foreign military outfits, and seemed most suited to lead."

Sir Robin excused himself from the table, his minature medals on his red mess dress jacket jingled as he plodded out of the dining room. He picked up the 'phone in the hallway

"General Sir Robin McPherson-Jebby here. Who, might I enquire, do I have the honour of addressing?"

"It's Sir Clive, here, Minister." Sir Robin automatically stood to attention as he heard the Governor-General's voice

"Yes, sir. What is it?"

"Frankly, Minister, we've got to mobilise. The talk between the TPP and Crimmond are deteriorating"

"I thought something like this might happen. What are your instructions?"

"Put Admiral McManerson in command. Tell him to mobilise the Arrabelic Fleet, and set a course for Crimmond. He is to stay in international waters until confirmation comes from the UNPP. He is not, repeat, not to stray into Crimmondian waters without my express permission. However, he is allowed to defend if attacked. That is all. The rest is up to you and 'Fluffy'"

Sir Robin permitted himself a smile at hearing Admiral McManerson's childish nickname coming from the Governor-General.

"Roger that, sir. I'll get onto it immediately. Good-night"

Sir Robin put down the 'phone. He turned to see his wife enter the hallway

"Darling, what's happening"

"I can't say, I'm afraid. Take care of the guests, will you. We've got an emergency on our hands"

'Likely story', thought Lady Charlotte McPherson-Jebby 'That young, blonde, secretary of his has gotten into trouble again...'

The bridge of the Dreadnought, HMS Paladin (Admiral Charles Harrington) Ensign, get me a line to an Admiral McManerson of the Cobdenia Navy. (Ensign) Yes Sir! *he begins typing at his terminal and a few minutes later* Sir, I have a secure line to Admiral McManerson. (Admiral Charles Harrington) Good, transfer it to my terminal. *after a beep, the admiral looks down at his terminal and begins talking* Hello, This is Admiral Charles Harrington, commander of the Yoopers Contingent. I understand we will be acting under your orders. Both of our dreadnoughts are currently moving into orbit above Crimmond and the rest of our forces can be at the CYAN AOR within ten minutes.

Dreadfire was beginning to lose patience as he read the latest transmission out of Crimmond. Anger was now beginning to visibly show on his face, and no more than an hour after the transmission was received, activity at AMF's military bases erupted. Word was beginning to spread like wildfire that another 4 Warchiefs had been activated.

~From the desk of Lord Damien the Destroyer, Supreme Warlord of the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek~

To: Dignitaries of Crimmond

These threats shall not go unchallenged by us, so fear not. Concentrate on the discussion, whatever good they will do to hold back the inevitable storm. The Lord Reaver, myself, and the rest of Gholgoth will handle these empty threats ourselves.

To: Open transmission

Attention, nations of the world. It has come to my knowledge that many of you seek to undermine the peace discussions that are almost underway between Crimmond and Crowngaurd. I have heard about your threats of war, your mobilizations, and so on.

I, Damien the Destroyer am telling you all that if any nation, person, or entity makes threats of war against Crimmond OR moves forces into or near their territorial space that Automagfreek will (without question) declare a state of war between itself and said violator.

There will be no exceptions to this order, if any nation steps out of line during the pre-discussions and the discussions themselves, they will be the next in line. Those who wish to try my patience or test my resolve may do so, but I can promise you that the results will most defiantly not be in your favor.

There will be no additional statements. Consider all of you warned.

The Pretenama Panel has made it quite clear that we are happy for peace talks and negotiations to occur and without military interuptions on our part. All we asked in return was the cessation of genocidal activities for the duration of the talks. Crimmond, unfortunately, and in no ambiguous terms, told us that this would not happen. On the contrary, since the beginning of the peace talks, the genocidal attacks have escalated in both scope and timeframe.

The Pretenama Panel is not concerned with your regional politics and the peace or lack thereof within your region. Our sole concern is the welfare of the victims of the genocide occurring in Crimmond, our sole aim to protect them. We reiterate that peaceful negotiation is our preferred means of achieving this, and still would be, but Crimmond has left us little choice.

Wait, Crimmond isn't a member of the UN, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the PP dosn't apply? I thought it was created by a resolution... Hmm...

OOC: The Humanitarian Intervention UN Resolution strictly only regulates miltary behaviour of UN states- but it allows them to intervene in non-UN members affairs if they are committing genocide. UN members are allowed to attack non-UN members, and this resolution merely regulates how they behave in such conflicts.

OoC: If this meant to be MT, does anyone mind if I stay past tech WWII? It's not as if it gives us an advantage! The idea is that we bought our ships etc. second hand from the British Empire in the 1940's; so we're set in the modern world but using WWII equipment. Oh, and can someone control my land and air forces for me? I'm more interested in RPing Naval bombardments and battles. Thanks!

OOC: First of all, as far as I can tell I believe Crimmond's citizens are called "Crimmonese", but I don't want to say so for certain.

IC:

Rodin Hartian cringed. "If only the peace proceedings were here, then we wouldn't have to worry about war." *sigh* He sat back in his chair in the Imperial Palace, frustrated.

He thought of the situation. Crimmond, now with Automagfreekian (OOC?)support, was now being threatened with war by an overtly ambitious The Pretenama Panel. The Crimmonese and Automagfreekians alone held enough strength to crush over a thousand nations, and now that they're together Hartian couldn't help but think they were unstoppable.

"This war isn't winnable," he thought to himself, "however, if TPP wishes to boldly enter into the Gates of Hell, then so be it."

He then wondered about the logic of TPP. "How could they possibly win this war? Between Crimmond and Automagfreek alone they have almost nine billion people, armies well into the millions and enough fleets to defeat TPP ten times over. Add their allies..." He paused in his thinking just to visualize the force. "Man, this war will be over in ten minutes."

Still, he couldn't be seen as afraid. The Crimmonese and Automagfreekians were formidable forces, but it just wouldn't be Roman to be afraid of them. Still, it also wouldn't be Roman to simply go to war- he must be diplomatic about it. The Roman people would not stand for war without a reason, and he was not willing to send millions of Romans to their deathbeds or severly cripple the state without just cause. Julius Nepos, the Emperor who helped refound the Empire, had set the tone earlier- that new focus of Rome should be diplomacy, not war. He was prepared to do just that.

They just don't care what others call them. ANd AMF's are Freeks.]

As we have informed this United Nations Council, which has grossly overstepped it's bounds in daring to threatenen war on a non-member in any way, the operation will not be operational for much longer.

Next Day: The Bridge of the HES Victoria, somewhere in the West Neen Ocean
Admiral "Fluffy" McManerson stood proudly on the bridge of his flagship, the Battleship HES Victoria, eyeing the calm West Neen Ocean and the rest of the Arrabelic Fleet that was on manouevers. His mind was full of patriotic thought about himself and Cobdenia, himself and Penelope, and himself and his wife. The liberal application of starch to his tropical whites made his position as Cobdenia's highest ranking naval officer clear, even had he misplaced his black shoulderboards, which he never would. Next to him on the bridge was the Captain of the Victoria, Captain Murdoch; looking very scruffy when compared to any other Cobdenian officer, let alone when compared to the stiff Admiral to his side. Yet his disheveled appearence couldn't hide the raw competence in his eyes, nor the years of experience displayed in his grey beard and whether beaten face. Murdoch was one of the few officers left who had started out as a seaman, and risen through the ranks; a fact that endeared him to his crew, and made him despised among the more pompous officers he had under him.
The peace on the bridge was shattered when the wireless operator burst through the hatch.
"Telegram for you, Admiral, sir"
"Who from?"
"Don't know, sir, it's Tanya encoded" Tanya was the Cobdenian Navies top secret cypher machine. Only the Minister of Defence, the Governor-General, the Permanent Under Secretary and flag officers were allowed to operate this machine. Fluffy kept the the edible key to the unopenable (for to force it open would cause a small explosive charge to go off) case to his Tanya under his tunic, plus the security code in his head, where nobody was going to get at it.
"Give it here, Lieutenant." The wireless operator handed over the message; Fluffy took it and marched briskly through the hatch and down to his spacious cabin. He closed and locked his cabin door behind him, removed his key, placed it in the lock and turned it. He then flicked the seven rotating numbers on the second code lock, and opened the box. He peered at the telegram in his hand and began to type:
17897 JFGUE OQBCG WOEUE GYAWI HGFYR SJUTQ LEIRT LMKYT TREWT KNEES JGHUT QWESD PQOWI GTHFB AXDSW...
After fifteen minutes of typing he read the decoded message:
MULTINATIONAL TALKS FAILING STOP YOURE FLEET NOW MOBILISED STOP HEAD FOR CRIM COAST BUT DO NOT REPEAT NOT ENTER CRIM TERRITORIAL WATERS STOP REMAIN REPEAT REMAIN IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS STOP FORCE AUTHORISED ONLY IF ATTACKED AND ONLY ENOUGH FORCE TO REPEL REPEAT REPEL ATTACK STOP THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING FURTHER ORDERS STOP SIGNED MINDEF

Mindef was simple code for Sir Robin McPherson-Jebby. Fluffy couldn't believe what he had just read
"Are they mad? We can't take on Crimmond and survive!"

Within a number of hours the aircraft had found its way, and after conversing with Tersanctan air traffic control, a landing position had been chosen. Flaps were lowered, air brakes lifted, and landing gear dropped, the aircraft settled onto the runway and taxied into a determined position, her twin turbines whining down before their fuel valves were shut off and the engines finally ended their trips, the blades spinning to a stop. Mr. Hektor Kamaor, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had decided, en route, that he would present himself, alone, except two aides. He figured that at a conference such as this, body guards would not do.

He was hoping for some respect, a sort of even field so to speak where each treated each other as the same. At least that's what he hoped for, with nations of this caliber it wasn't likely. However, if they wanted to play hardball, he could damn well do it himself. After all, he did have over two dozen years of military service accredited to his name, didn't he? Not to mention a stint in the Kagan's own secret service group, the DS where he had personally hunted down and executed a number of political dissidents and those opposed to the Kagan and his rule. He silently huffed to himself, quickly making up his mind, "Major, I want a VEPR suit, immediately. I'll be wearing it before I get off this plane." He reached his hand back to the area below his shoulders where a small metal portal was situated, he lightly breezed over it.

A nearby Dokhturosoldat Major gave a nod and quickly headed towards the rear of the aircraft, where a number of the guards had been seated, likely chatting idly or playing some sort of interactive game. In a matter of minutes the man had returned, "Sir, we've got one ready back there, I've got two specialists who'll help you put her on... According to regulation we'll have to do at least a half hour's worth of..." He was cut off.

"No thanks Major, I know what I'm doing, hopefully I won't have to use it."

"But sir..."

"No. Appearances at this conference are all that matters, although I will not dress as an active duty soldier, I will not have body guards at my sides, instead I'll wear the system below my current suit. Understand?" The Major nodded with a slight aire of embarassment, silently slipping back to the rear of the aircraft. "Svetlana, I want you and Alexei to get some stuff ready, you'll come with me." The woman nodded. Hektor spun around and walked to the rear of the aircraft. He would emerge in ten or so minutes wearing an impressive skin hugging system with a series of bumps and small tubes, which would be covered and hidden by the suit and tie he would wear as his official dress.

He was greeted by Svetlana and a younger man in tow, a foreign affairs ministry aide and analyst, who would provide any information if necessary. The woman quickly spoke up, "Well sir, lead the way, I see they've got a mode of transport for us outside." Kamarov nodded and quickly took the lead, maneuvering through the maze-like aisles before he reached the forward section of the plane, two NGCS-clad Strakhen Soldat Armiya members stood at rail attention near the doorway, which was in the process of opening. When the door had settled into position, the twin strakhen soldat members glided through the doorway, swiftly maneuvering to the bottom of the stairs and assuming positions on either side of the steps.

The two men wore jet black NGCS systems, clad with armor, the load bearing system, and SR-90S1s which were held firmly to their chests. Their faces were hidden by a visor/face mask system which would provide NBC protection if necessary. Their visors glowed a dull blue as the heads scanned the environment. As soon as the three-person diplomatic team began descending the stairway, the two seamlessly straightened up, their faces aimed forward yet their detection equipment scanning all around. Seconds later and the group had disappeared into a Tersanctus-provided (or someone else) vehicle and whisked to the conference, after whatever procedures had to be done. On the way, Kamarov had time to think of what he was to do... First, locate the Crownguard diplomat... Then... Well, I'll see what happens from there.

The two soldiers were soon garrisoned by six more who would provide defense for the aircraft in the event it was required.

After you were shot in the BCC corridor and the Lock down of the facility commenced to try to isolate and hunt down your Asassin, the BCC froze into dissarray, It appears The crimmondese agent has achieved his Mission to stall and confuse the Coalition forces so our forces stand ready for the word but it has not been given.

OOC: Your post gave me a headache, first off. Second... should I name the half dozen reasons why I should ignore this little incident?

First off:

"Sir the assault has not taken Place. After you were shot in the BCC corridor and the Lock down of the facility commenced to try to isolate and hunt down your Asassin, the BCC froze into dissarray, It appears The crimmondese agent has achieved his Mission to stall and confuse the Coalition forces so our forces stand ready for the word but it has not been given."

WTF is that? When did that happen, because I have never RPed with you before nor have I EVER RPed an agent disruppting an enemy force behind the lines. Ever.

Second:

"13 miles of the northern shores of Crimmond the Task group IBHIB commanded by the irishbrotherhood delegate was stopped in formation awaiting Orders."

Not gonna happen, bucko. I got a few hundred odd subs with orders to sink any non-Gholgoth flagged ship. Maybe you'd get in position, but once you stop? The act of 'turkey-shooting' will be taken to a whole new level.

Third:

"Note to crimmond, sorry i cant stay to see this through as i was supposed to be on two days off but the Sh1t hit the Fan in work and i had to go in and I have to be in early tomorrow. I hope my colleagues from the Pretenema Panel give you a good RP. Totally sucks that i am gonna miss it."

The next day, Rodin Hartian stood before the Senators in the Curia. "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Roman Senate, you are probably aware of the actions being taken by the Crim, and you are probably aware that the Freeks have come to their side should any war take place," he said. "There are discussions going on in Tersanctus, but we believe they're just a ploy to allow the Crim and the Freeks to mobilize.

"I come here to you, my noble Senators, to come to an understanding for what the Roman Empire should do. The Pretenama Panel- of which only our puppet nation, the three-person Delegation to the UN, is a part of- has indicated that they may be starting a war with the Crim soon, but as our main nation is not a part of TPP we are not obliged to participate (and, come to think of it, neither is our puppet since TPP does not carry a rule obligating military participation). I stress this since I do not believe it is advisable to enter into a war that is essentially unwinnable, since the Crim and the Freeks alone are strong enough to take on hundreds of nations, but together they arguably could crush the world. Add their allies and the possibilities are endless.

"However, genocide is not a practice we can overlook. What the Crim are doing is wrong, plain and simple, and should not be something they should be getting away with. The question is, though, do we intervene? I see this as nothing but a venture into Hell, a war that is clearly unwinnable and will only ensure the suffering of our nation and our people. Noble Senators, I seek your advice- are the Crim's actions enough to warrant Roman intervention? Or should find other ways to deal with the Crim's actions?"

Immediately, the Consul Princeps Valerius Maderia stood up. "Your Highness, I am in full agreement with you, and would like to add to what you have said. This 'Pretenama Panel' has been a poorly planned venture- they hardly have enough strength to take on a tenth of what Crimmond and Automagfreek can put up, yet they blindly talk of war- do they even know who they're going up against? Their planners clearly did not do their job."

"Agreed Consul," said Praetor Extraterritorialis Jomo Marea. "This is just a case of the meat being thrown to the lions. They don't know what they're doing, and as such will only hurt our nation."

"Now hold on there," said Consul Legatus Fidellus Giormani. "There's no such thing as an 'unwinnable' war. However, this situation- as was said before- is poorly planned, and will only cause undue stress on our nation, my armed forces and on our economy- and we have far better things to focus on. We may be Romans but we learned long ago that it's not our duty to 'police the world'."

"Agreed, Consul Legatus," replied Marea. Also, let us remember the foreign policy that the Eternal Emperor Keylusus set out for us when he reigned- that we act only if a state needs our help, or if chaos brings the nation into anarchy. Their policies are their business. Yes, we may not agree with what they do, but we have come to the realization that not every nation can be run like our own, and we need to respect that. Besides, our people will lampoon us if we are seen as 'bullies'."

"Let us have a vote, then," said Hartian. "All those in favour, say 'yay'".

All 300 members of the Senate said 'yay'.

"Opposed?" Not a single word was uttered.

"Good then. We are officially neutral. You have made a sound choice." With that, Hartian made another set of communiques to Automagfreek, Crimmond, Roania and their allies, as well as to TPP and their allies and the Roman Free Press:

******Official Communique To The Pretenama Panel by the Roman Government******

"The Roman Empire has officially declared neutrality in this war. We feel that the war is unwinnable due to the size of the forces and due to what we feel is a considerable lack of planning by TPP with regards to the war, as TPP has not even close to the strength needed for this venture. As such, we do not wish to subject our nation to a venture that we consider to be ill-conceived, incredibly impractical and will only serve to damage our nation. If TPP wishes to venture into the Gates of Hell, so be it- the Romans shall not join them."

******Official Communique To Crimmond, Automagfreek, Roania and Allies by the Roman Government******

"The Roman Empire has officially declared neutrality in this situation and in any upcoming war. We know that antagonizing your honourable nations will not bring a satisfactory conclusion to the matter and will only serve to make things worse. We are committed to exhausting every peaceful and diplomatic means possible to see that the situation be resolved to each of our nations' best interests and as peacefully as possible. As such, we will offer the Curia in Rome as a place to discuss these matters if you wish, which we hope is acceptable seeing how our nations have no ill-will towards each other at all. We do not seek to impose anything, reiterating that we only have you and your nations' best interests at heart. The Roman Empire is not interested in creating new enemies and does not believe your nations are interested in such either, but we are hopeful that our nations can come to an understanding. Please consider this offer."

******Official Press Release by the Roman Government******

"As many of you are aware, Europe's war drums are again being beaten, and by many accounts it appears that war is inevitable. Thus, the Roman Government is hereby announcing its neutrality in this situation and in any upcoming armed conflict and/or war, for a number of reasons:

1. We believe The Pretenama Panel's military operations are ill-conceived and poorly planned, and as such will only result in their nations' needless destruction.

2. We believe that all possible peaceful and diplomatic options have not yet been exhausted, and we believe that Crimmond, Automagfreek and their allies are ultimately interested in resolving the matter peacefully.

3. Although we do not condone genocide and will continue to remain active in eradicating it, we do not believe that the current plan to deal with the Crim's situation is feasible and will only hinder our nation, needlessly. As many of you would agree with, national soverignty is above all else, and we must respect that. We are not 'the world's police' and should and will not act as such. There are other actions we can take in this matter to display our disapproval without needing to breed hostility in nations we have no reason to be hostile with.

4. Finally, we do not believe that dragging the citizens of Crimmond and Automagfeek into a "War of Agendas" serves any diplomatic or political purpose. Their nations should not suffer because outside nations do not like the way their nations are run. Populations are not pawns, and it is the Roman duty to respect that.

Thus, we will not be getting involved in any armed conflict. We are committed to resolving this matter peacefully and will work hard to make sure that it is. The Crim and the Freeks are not irrational and certainly not as irrational as TPP are, and, as such, we believe that a peaceful solution can be worked out. Again, we are not 'the world's police'- we are Romans. We do not enter irrational wars and this potential war is irrational. It would undermine everything that we are to undertake this irrational action and as such, again we will remain neutral throughout the entire proceedings."

"Lady Faren, we have received word from the Roman Empire."

Yssandra Faren immediately went over to her communications chief in her new base of operations for the Crimmond Campaign. "What is it? Will Rome join the fight?"

"No, Lady Faren. Rome has declared that the war is unwinnable. They have sent word to all nations involved in the Pretenama Panel discussions of this."

Lady Faren sat in thought for several minutes, in which time her fellow triumvir Chairwoman Sikura entered the room.

"Lady Faren, I trust you have received the communique from Rome. I am telling you that we cannot continue in this campaign. If Rome cannot see any way of winning, then what chance have we? We are untried at war."

"Yes," Lady Faren said, deep in thought. "This was a deep mistake, but I was doing what I believe to be my duty."

"And no-one will fault you for that, provided that Enn's forces are withdrawn before they enter active service. What matter if we lose face with other nations - we could not survive a prolonged military campaign with extensive casualties."

"Alright Hannah, you win. I will tell the Pretenama Panel of our decision. I will also send word to the Crim leadership, with our most sincere apologies for thinking of such action."

_______________

***** Official Communique from the Triumvirate of Enn to Crimmond *****

The Triumvirate of Enn was involved in the discussions to invade Crimmond as part of the Pretenama Panel force. In those discussions we were led to believe that war with your nation would be winnable. However, in the light of the wise words of the Roman Emperor, we wish to apologise for our most hasty and unwise decision, and have withdrawn all our forces from the Pretenama Panel force, before their invasion begins.
We hope that the other nations involved in the Pretenama Panel will see sense, and will call off their planned invasion.

Head of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Enn.

The Governorate-General, Port Sir Richard
The Cobdenian Foriegn Minister, The Rt. Hon. Rory Relp, MHA, strode purposefully through the corridors of the Governorate. He had heared from Sir Robin McPherson-Jebby that they were about to go to war, and Relp's determination to stop the war was as strong as the Pretenama Panel's determination to stop the genocide in Crimmond. Relp was the only member of the cabinet who didn't go to boarding school, and this was obvious from his dress and mannerism; whilest all the other cabinet members wore three piece stroller suits and bowler hats or their military uniforms, he looked more like a gangster then a cabinet minister, in his dark blue pinstripe double breasted suit, loud tie, two-tone shoes and trilby. However, despite this he was a damn fine foriegn minister, and everyone knew it.
He entered the Governor's outer office, pushed the Governor's idignant secretary to one side, and burst through the double doors that led the Governor's inner sanctum, where he found the Governor in 'conference' with one of Port Sir Richard's school teachers.
"What the 'ell d'ya think yah playin' at, sendin' us ta war with Crimmond wiv'out consul'in' me? Yah must be mad! We 'en never 'ope to win?"

The secretary, who had barely regained her poise, popped her head round the door
"Sorry, sir, I know you said no visitors, but Mr Relp was most insistent"

"Quite alright, Miss Farthingale. Can you shew Miss Lalupe out?" he turned to the young, blonde teacher on his lap
"Same time next week, my dear?"

"Of course", replied Miss Lalupe, leaving the room and buttoning her blouse as she went. The secretary shut the door behind her.

"Now then, what is it you want to see me about, Mr Relp"

"Well, sah, ya've sent tha navy to Crimmond, wiv'out exhaustin' all dipl-er-matic avenue's; and tha fact of tha ma'er is, sah, we ain't got an 'ope in 'ell of being able to defeat the Crim!"

"Well, Mr Relp, I would like to point out that they aren't going there to attack, unless we get information from the UN that the talks have broken down"

"Exactly, sah. An' at tha momen' the talks are doomed, frankly."

"So what more, Mr Relp, do you expect me and the Prime Minister to do?"

"We'll, sah, these talks are breakin' down because there ain't enough people negotiatin' for our side. We need ta sen' someone out to Tersanctus ourselves!"

"And who do you propose, Mr Relp? Most of our Diplomatic Corps are utter fools, you know that!"

Relp permitted himself a small smile; for it was true. "Yeah, that I know, sir. 'Ence I propose goin' mi'self."

"I suppose I could allow that, Mr Relp. Fine. Call up GAF Keynestown, get them to arrange a transport and fighter escorts for your trip. I hope it all goes well."

"It'd bettah', sah. Our lives depend on it!"

1700 hours: Wireless Room, HES Victoria
The wireless operator skilfully translated the morse that was coming through the radio:
FRIENDLY REPEAT FRIENDLY TRANSPORT HEADING YOUR WAY ETA 0100 STOP ORDER YOUR CARRIERS TO PROVIDE THE TRANSPORT WITH FIGHTER ESCORT INTO TERSANCTUSS STOP CRIMMOND OUT OF RANGE OF GAF STOP ALSO ARRANGE FOR CLEARENCE INTO CRIM AIR SPACE SIGNED ACMCCCS'
He ran up to the bridge with the message and handed it to the Admiral. Fluffy eyed the message, and after thirty seconds picked up a sheet of telegram paper, scrawled down another message and handed it to the wireless officer.

"Send this to the Captain of the Sir Richard Cobden, Lieutenant"

"Aye aye, sir"

The wirless operator sent the new message, which was nothing more exiting then passing on this information onto the Captain of one of the carriers

1900 hours, GAF Keynestown

The journey had taken him three hours by the time the arrived at GAF Keynestown, and Relp just wanted to get on the transport and get to Crimmond as soon as possible.
His chauffer got out and opened the door, and Relp stepped out onto the runway. A Group Captain greeted him.

"Good evening, Minister. Everythings laid on as planned; I didn't think we'd do it at such short notice, but we've managed it somehow, what!"

Relp stared at the aeroplane. It wasn't what he expected; it was a transport 'plane, but nothing more. The Group Captain sensed what he was thinking

"I'm afraid the passenger 'planes don't have the range. I hope this will do."

"It'll 'ave t'do, Group Capt'n. It'll 'ave t'do" replied Relp, climbing into the 'plane, shutting the hatch behind him. He stared around the stark cargo hold, and took a seat on one of the canvas seats attached to the side of the fuselage. The engines roared to life and within minutes they were airborne. Relp took his last look at Cobdenia. I hope to God this works he thought to himself.

Low frequency messages went out to the North Atlantic and the Baltic, originating from bases in Crimmond. Updating of orders, no doubt, as several minutes later over two hundred good sizes subs started to surface.

I'm quite sure that you can see these boats on satalite or other imaging. I'll save you the trouble of counting. Two hundred and fifteen submarines are currently surfaced in the North Atlantic and the Baltic Seas. And this represents only part of the submarine fleet at our disposal. Needless to say, the seas are a bit crowded in some areas. Approach the Empire at your own risk. Any ships coming into Crimmond territorial waters will be sunk, unless they are of Gholgoth. No exceptions.

Kamara thought of a response to the messages as she sat in the ancient leather chair in the Emperor's office.

The Empire thanks the leadership of Enn. You have come to your senses and we will not wage war on you... if you would be so kind as to try and talk that sense into your allies, their nations will be spared as well. We are about to engage in negotiatons with Crowngaurd. The operation shall be shut down on the order of Riok Oran alone. He is at these negotiations and unavailible.

In front of the transport was Europe. And over Europe was the Crimmond Marine Air Corps, performing Combat Air Patrols as far as one could see.

The message was picked up by a Crimmond radio controller at an airbase. Negative. Do not enter airspace. Repeat, do not enter airspace. All patrols have orders to down intruder aircraft. Identify your Naval Force's nationality and enter holding pattern until further notice.

"What the hell is this, Sergeant?"

"Some ship wants to send a transport plane and escort fighters to an airbase, sir."

"Inform General Marco. Someone may just want to start a fight out there..."

Wireless room, HES Victoria, Baltic sea
Fluffy was in the wireless room when he recieved the radio message. He picked up the transmitter, and spoke into it himself; they were within range for voice transmissions

Message to Crim ATC
"Crimmond, this is His Excelleny's Ship Victoria, of the Cobdenian Gubernatorial Navy, Admiral McManerson speaking. The fighters you have on RADAR are from the HES Sir Richard Cobden, a ship in this fleet. They are there at my orders as an excort to the transport 'plane we have requested landing clearence for. The fighters carry no weapons save machine guns and cannon, which they are authorised to use only, repeat, only if attack. The transport's mission is entirely peaceful, repeat, peaceful; and we have recently been notified that it is carrying an envoy who has been assigned the task of opening up talks with you. Our intentions are not of war. I repeat, our intentions our not of war. We are in international waters, and we do not plan on violating Crim waters. Over"

'I hope to God they let it land' thought Fluffy 'that thing doesn't have enough fuel to carry on much longer'.

He picked up the tube to the bridge, and blew into it. On the bridge, the Captain answered
"Aye?"
"Admiral McManerson, here, Captain. Have we picked up any submarine activity on ASDIC?"
"No, sir. All our subs are on the surface. Mind you, our range is very limited."
"Hmmm. Okay, Captain. I'll be on deck in a minute. Get an Aldis operator would you?"
"Aye, sir"

Fifteen minutes later; The deck of the HES Victoria

Fluffy and one of the ratings stood on the deck of the Victoria, the rating with an Aldis in his hand. Fluffy dictated the following messages, that the rating then flashed in Morse to all the ships; different classes of ships had different messages, setting up a defensive formation.

Aircraft Carriers, battleships destroyers and seven of the fourteen frigates: Form a single file with your broadside facing the coast, portside. Carriers in the middle and at either end, the two battleships either side of the centre carrier, and between the outside carriers and the battleships alternate destroye and frigates. Do not point guns towards Crimmond.

MTB's: set up torpedo nets on the north and south side of the line

Submarines: remain inside the net, close to the mouths of the net. 25 at the east opening, 25 at the west. Rig for red and stand ready for crash dive

Other seven frigates: Patrol outside torpedo net, ASDIC operating. Look for submarines but do not attack.

OoC: I'm not sure if portable torpedo nets existed in WWII, but the technology did. And do you want a diagram of the defensive set up?

Riok entered whatever room in whatever place he was to negotiate and politely greeted whoever was there for Tersanctus. After a moment, he turns to face the Crowngaurd leader. "Let's cut the crap as much as possible, allright? I hate doubletalk." he says, taking a seat at the table.

-----

The Colonel read the orders and smiled. "Relay them, Sergeant."

By order of General Marco and General of the Army Meridius, permission to enter Crimmond Airpsace is... denied. Any incursions will be viewed as an act of war.

Seems the Empire was doing all the negotiating it was going to do.

Soon the massive amount of submarines submerge again and go about shifting position, then resume lurking beneath the waves, waiting for some hotshot to start something.

The captain of the Imperial Dragoons took offense at that, glaring to the "representative". Did they have no honour or dignity at all?

"Show a bit more respect to the High Guardian, cur." A hand fell to the vibroblade at his side.

Xavier glanced at the captain shaking his head ever so slightly as the sword was sheathed, then back to Riok. He had patience with inconsiderate fools, but only to a point. "Yes, let's 'cut the crap' as you so put it. I await my fellow representative from the Soviet Bloc. When he arrives, along with whatever allies you deign to summon here, we will begin."

The captain's actions were blatently ignored. Riok just nods. "I doubt the rest of Gholgoth is really interested in being here. Otherwise they would have stated they were attending." Riok was there alone. He veiwed it as a show of not strength, but his doubts that they could or would do a damn thing to him. Besides, his own armor was a weapon if they did try something, what with the sheer number of spikes on it. Some looked like that weren't part of the armor. That they came from him...

Hektor Kamarov entered the room, leaving the two aides to wander about in whatever building they were in... As he entered, Kamarov let his eyes gather up his 'opponent'. That's how he classified everyone at a diplomatic occurance such as this, they were his opponents, to be defeated on a diplomatic battlefield. He saw the Crim representative, and his eyebrow raised automatically. He caught it and successfully hid his reaction, he quickly chattered into the DNI, "What the hell? Who sent me back in time, I swear this guys straight from some medieval story book or something."

He could hear some light laughing on the other end. He was silently wondering if any of those present noticed him slightly 'daze' off as he walked, accessing the DNI. He nodded his head towards the representative from Crimmond and took a seat. He mentally sized up the man from Crimmond. He let his DNI take control and he flexed the artificial muscles embedded in the NGCS. If he had to, he was certain he could take that hulk out. Sure, he had size, but Hektor knew he had the strength, speed, and small size to effectively tear him limb from limb. He judged his armor. Yes, he could tear his arm off if it came to it. Not many opponents had faced the NGCS, except the unfortunate rebels in Kazakhstan, they were shown its ferocity first hand. The system earned its soldiers the nickname 'strakh' for fear... Others included death. They were genuinely feared by all in Kazakhstan. Too bad that not a single nation had yet to face it, although, that may soon change...

"Well, I hope I didn't miss anything."

Internally he scowled, he knew their only true reason here, at the diplomatic table. Time. Precious time. His face showed a light grin, which soon disappeared, time which was being put to good use...

Oran just waited for the other man to sit. He let out a sound that was a mix of a hiss and something else, while looking between them. "Allright. We all know why we are here, so lets get to the center of it."

Tapping a metal taloned finger on the table. We do not apologize for being morally outraged, nor to your other allies not willing to be here to meet with us. If you want peace, you will have to do better than that. You may prevail in conventional "total war" but by my name, your nation will be in ashes at the end of it, as will others who cross our borders."

Xavier settled back into his chair, looking to the man. "If you want peace, negotiate. We do not answer ultimatums. My counter offer is that you apologize for your actions, publicly, call down our forces on both sides, and Crownguard will aid you in reconstructing your nation after several...unsavory attacks upon it. We will also pay for the resettlement of all these non-humans to other lands, but the genocide will stop. Immediately. What else do you gain? You go to war, and take horrendous casualties, as I am well prepared for a protracted fight. Or you accept a free handout, and cease an action deemed reprehensible to the world. How sane is your nation, to prefer war to profit, hmm? You can suffer furthur attacks by dissatisfied elements, or rebuild. The choice is your's."

UN Intervention Likely as Genocide Escalates in Crimmond
Roman Empire will not intervene- Emperor

ROME- Tensions are rising in the northern European state of Crimmond today as the United Nations' newly created "The Pretenama Panel" is apparently planning an invasion into Crimmond, which could come any day now.

The invasion threats come in response to the Crim's recent activities of what they term "cleansing" the Empire of any non-humans present in the population, which many nations are terming as genocide. The Crim have not denied that they are committing the atrocities, but, since they are not UN members, they insist that the UN have no juristiction to enforce their laws in Crimmond. The Crim have also picked up the support of Automagfreek as well as- unexpectedly- the support of Roania.

However, Crimmond's excuse has not been enough to reign in the threats of TPP, which for all intents and purposes, has already believed that the war has begun. A timetable for the invasion is unknown, but sources close to the proceedings believe the first assault could occur any day now.

Closer to home, speculation had run rampant over how the Roman Government would react to the ongoing crisis. The Romans have a Delegation in TPP-a puppet state which is technically its own nation- and has publicly denounced the atrocities in Crimmond. However, earlier today, the Roman Emperor, Rodin Hartian, released a statement that officially declared the Romans as "neutral", declaring any war between TPP and Crimmond to be "unwinnable", and condemning TPP's plan as "ill-conceived and impractical" and TPP itself as "irrational". The statement also said that the Romans are interested in a peaceful solution to the matter, and will not step down until one is met.

After releasing the statement, Hartian defended his views. "According to our reports, the entire TPP force does not even equal a tenth of the total Crimmic force. In addition to that, TPP is incredibly new and unproven, whereas the Crim are proven warriors in the battlefield. Add to that the proven powers of Automagfreek and Roania, who have forces comparable to Crimmond's, if not stronger. Thus, we see TPP as merely the appettizers to the lions' lunch, and we feel that subjecting our nation to such a slaughter would not benefit our nation at all. Their operation is impractical and thoroughly mismanaged and unplanned, which is why we will not be a part of it. We will, however, still examine all our other options to deal with the situation."

Not everyone agreed. The Roman Liberty Taskforce (RLT) today issued a statement condemning the Emperor's statement, saying that the Empire should face any odds if it means solving the greater ills of the world. "We think it is un-Roman of us to let this genocide occur without any kind of retribution. It is our duty to protect the Elves of Crimmond, not to sit by idly while they are being shot."

Others disagree with the RLT. "Yeah, it's awful what the Crim are doing, but there comes a point where we just need to let them be," said Roman Political Science Professor Ralph Imeraldus, "I mean, they're not affecting our nation in any way, they're a soverign nation and they're not even UN members to boot, so why should we go in there and tell them how to run their country? If we don't like their country, we don't have to trade with them or have any kind of relationship with them, plain and simple. As our Emperor said, we are not the world's police force, and with good reason- that just gives you enemies, which is not good for the health of the nation."

The Empire's withdrawal has also led to the withdrawal of the Ennish contribution to TPP, who noted the "wisdom of the Roman Emperor" as the main factor in its decision. They have also retracted any offensive threats to Crimmond and removed any hostile military personnel and equipment from the vicinity of the Crimmic borders.

Meanwhile, the Crim, Soviet Bloc and Crownguard are meeting in Tersanctus to negotiate a peaceful solution to the problem, although most military and political analysts believe the talks are merely a ploy to allow for the mobilization of Crimmic and Freekish forces to war strength. No details surrounding the talks have been made public, but the Crim have said that details will be made available following the negotiations.

"You want the genocide to stop? I can assure you that the culling will cease in..." he looks to the clock and does some quick timezone math, "Twelve hours at most."

The reptilian man leaned forward, armor scraping against itself, making the movement seem longer. The metal caught the light and cast it into a dark rainbow, like the way an oil slick glistens. "About the demands, I fully expected you to refuse. If you hadn't, these talks would have ceased immediatly and you would have been crushed as spineless dogs." A humorless chuckle came from beneath his mask. "As for the terrorists? The Empire has survived much worse attacks. The leveling of an entire city by nuclear devices, chemical attacks that killed thousands, excetera... these people surface every decade or so, attack and are crushed. We don't need any help rebuilding."

A look at the Soviet represenative, then back.

--------------

Kamara looked over reports on the operation. "Nine hours until the Cleansing can be declared complete. Good...." SHe stood and moved to the windows on the palace, looking to where smoke was still rising from where the Plasma Pyramid once stood. "Once all the non-humans are dead, move all troops involved in the operation to the Eastern border."

Fortunately, Xavier had already authorized the mobilization of troops towards their ally's land for such an eventuality, valuable war material already going towards shoring up Soviet Bloc from the inevitable attack. Alibakkar had led the expeditionary force, making sure the proper equipment was unloaded and people were prepared to recieve the heavy divisions of the Imperial Dragoons. The missile silo stayed on perpetual alert as the populace, the non-essential personnel, were assigned Vault numbers in case of the outbreak of nuclear war. He had little need to attack Crimmond directly, but Xavier had reliable intelligence to indicate these talks were a sham to stall him. Nevertheless, the appearances of cooperation had to be kept.

"Yes, I would expect so from a government so popular with its subjects. You seem adamant to press war upon your nation. As I said before, others might survive the apocalypse that will rain down upon you, but Crimmond won't. Might want to rethink the dedication of your allies towards YOUR assured destruction. You think us cowards, unwilling to fight to the end for this? It is your land that will be razed in this coming conflict. Your government that will be targeted, your economy crushed in bloody warfare. I do hope you would be satisfied, for you may think us sacrificing for a needless cause, but, rest assured, you will not be there to enjoy it, nor will your nation. Now, again, stop this madness."

A sigh came from under the mask. "Sir, you threaten apocolypse like you've seen it before. Have you ever witnessed an entire city cease to exist? Have you ever witnessed the death of millions in an instant? Not on news reels, not in movies.... I mean have you seen a nuclear weapon go off in a city personally? I have." He reaches up and removes his mask, setting it on the table.

His face is a deformed, one eyed, viper like visage, with radiation scars and from the deformed bones, he was in a nasty crash of somesort that caved part of his face in. "This is what it did to me, watching from the outskirts. So I would advise you to rethink threatening nuclear bombardment. For both our peoples will suffer what I have suffered and worse. Much worse."

He sighed and leaned back, looking at their probably staring and/or horrified looks. "I want to cut through the bullshit. Look at the numbers. The Empire has 100% of it's military prepared. How much of your military can your supply lines feed and arm? How much of your military can you even deploy? And you aren not going to just be fighting the Empire. So that means you have to leave a sizable defense force at home, to defend against Gholgoth invasion. Are your fleets prepared to defend against, arguably, the largest submarine defense force in Europe? Now..."

He looks at the Soviet. "You are the only real threat to the Empire. This UN panel is so outmatched I could smash them alone. I could throwoff this man's invasion... but you are on our border. The Empire still holds an advatage though. Your lands are large. The Empire is compact compared to you. That means that we can concentrate much, much easier. ANd you too must defend against invasion from Gholgoth."

Leaning forward again, Oran grins, the visage getting more gruesome. "If I were your advisor, I'd tell you to consider standing down, at least."

Hektor slightly reeled back at the Crim's face. He glanced away, truely nasty indeed.

However, with the Crim's latest statement Kamarov smirked, "You may term that as a disadvantage, and to some it may be, but with a mass such as our's we have the ability to launch an attack, a counter-attack if you will, from anywhere using any means and with a high chance of success, especially considering the focus we have paid on our airborne, marine, and other quick reaction forces and in conjunction with our air force, which we have molded into a specific role. I assure you, any attempt to invade the ARSB will be swiftly dealt with and repelled straight back to where it came from, no matter if it originates from the land, air, or sea.

An attack on our nation would not be a good idea, no matter what amount of planning goes into it." He ended on that note. It was true, after all. With the structure of the military bases in the ARSB, they could quite literally attack from anywhere. Not to mention the numerous fleets stationed abroad (and land or air forces abroad) which could react in any situation.

Meanwhile, back at home, steps had been taken to ensure the survival of the nation. Already, forces were being garrisoned and the border strengthened while immediate reaction groups began being posted through-out the nation. Air forces, primarily the F-78 Sokol air superiority fighter, F/A-91A "Savage" multi-role, F/A-41A STOVL multi-role, and numerous airborne radar, electronic warfare, and logistical aircraft began patrolling the skies all around the nation. Massive C-380s (tri-wing, twin fuselage capable of carrying several hundred tons worth of cargo or over a thousand personnel, depending on the 'pod' deployed), dubbed EC-380Ds hovered above, their powerful jamming, electronic warfare, and extensive radar abilities blanketing the nation in an electronic shield which would wreak havoc with an opposing force's radar. When an enemy entered the airspace it would perform selective jamming, actively jamming single aircraft's own computer systems, that is, if they were within range.

Smaller DP-21Ms, another electronic warfare and long-range interceptor (with extreme long range air to air missiles) began an active patrol lining the border. Their smaller electronic warfare packages would allow them to, if needed, jam ground based radar, aircraft radar, and with its GLONASS and GPS jammers, they could deny GPS and GLONASS to an enemy force (while denying it our own forces but it wouldn't matter in their own country, they knew where they were). They could engage the enemy at supreme ranges as well. Along with the DP-21Ms were deployed DP-21GPs, which were a ground attack variant, specifically designed to interfere with ground based light radar and to attack opposing surface to air missile systems.

Several miles behind the borders, A-89A Molotok close air support aircraft sat prepared and ready in their hardened bunkers, with layers of concrete and earth, ready to deployed in a moments notice.

If it were to come to war, the Crim, and any other invaders, would feel the wraith of a primed Soviet Bloc war machine, which had rarely been unleashed on an opponent. Now, the attackers would face the full brunt of a lethal onslaught of which none could survive and of which few have witnessed.

In the Office of the Executor, only blocks from where the negotiations were being held, Shijin paced anxiously.

High General Nicolas Ethalosian addressed him. A striking man, his blond hair was slicked back, with a brown scar going down his left eye, his striking blue eyes were a contrast to his Black Dress Uniform adorned with medals from decades past, reputed to be the greatest General in Tersanctan History, those whom spoke largely of themselves were usually humbled mercilessly by his Military Genius.

"My Lord Emporer, the situation grows by the minute. All sides are itching for war, and it is time we made our stand." The General said.

Shijin nodded absently.

"Gholgothian forces will play a major role for homeland defense, as well as the Imperial Trisagion Forces, which will allow us to send a logistical train to the Soviet Bloc, should the need arise. I am requesting the authorization of the Templars."

Shijin's brow arched in suprise.

"So for one genocide, we'll start another? The Templar are overkill...these are warriors, not rank-and-file soldiers...Even Special Ops units shit their pants when they hear the Kungshaoists are coming."

Ethalosian smiled grimly.

"Thats exactly what I want, to send a message. We will show these f**ks exactly who they are dealing with, as the Christians say, Pride goeth before the fall. What I want will fall nothing short of the decimation of their forces, and annihilation of no less then three of thier major cities. God help them when the Reavers and Sentinels come as well."

Shijin pondered a moment.

"First we focus upon the defense of Gholgoth. Then when the time comes, I will order you to unleash hell. But I will not stand for reckless acts, or dishonor the name of Tersanctus with a Nazi-like action, or The Rape of Nanking. Unless the Three Warrior Kings of the Blood Pact declare Soviet Bloc a blood enemy, or Kungshao Forbid, Crownguard, we continue on course."

The General, obviously dissapointed saluted his Executor, and took his leave.
Crownguard

A video had been released, carefully ordered and showing almost entirely the imagery first shown by Crimmond. It was appropriate then, that this new generation of the venerable anti-Nazi film "Why We Fight" was applied to this conflict. In it, the sheer brutaliy of what had occured in this cleansing was shown, the commentator carefully detailing the exact words released by Verchak to the shocked nations of the world. The video spread through Crownguard, and was distributed freely to allies and enemies alike, through various channels. It had taken some time, but it only made iron-clad the reason for defying Crimmond: the prevention of such atrocities in Europe once more. All of the Enlightened Empire was at stake, as many were cybernetically enhanced, as were those in the video. The High Guardian himself possessed such modifications, the pinnacle of the blending of AI and human technology. Technology had freed them, made them strong and united. It would serve once again against the mindless hordes of the fascists, the morally bankrupt, and the dishonourable.

Plans were made, the long dormant Fleet was rapidly being brought to strength, to evacuate those who could be evacuated from this conflict. The Vaults had lotteries drawn, sealed away for the years to follow and self suficent in almost every way. Each citizen drew arms, driling under the eye of Public Safety officers throughout the cities of Crownguard. Dark days indeed, that such a war must be fought.

A message had also ben sent to the Executor, the leader of the nation of Tersanctus. In it was another note, typecast during a break in negotiations by Delryn himself. The contents read as thus:

"Greetings, brother. The time of choice is upon you, and upon us. Enclosed should be a copy of 'Why We Fight'. None of those images are edited, modified, or changed in any way, as the actions of the enemy are quite apparent. They are the inheritors of the Axis powers, and would delude you into speaking of a united Europe, or Gholgoth. There is little to be done, as Crownguard has seen there is no peace, there is no security, there is no room for those who possess dignity, and those who shed their human guise as beasts of prey. You spoke of honour, Shijin. Is there such honour in supporting men like this? Cowards who use mindless drones to slaughter those whose only crime is to be different. IS THIS HONOURABLE?! Or do we stand alone, and must our brotherhood be forsaken in our time of greatest need?!

There is a force for good in this world, you have seen this. We have seen it in the actions of the past, in the actions of the present, and dedicate ourselves to such actions in the future. There is a force for good in this, and it starts with one who can raise up with clear voice and say 'this is wrong, it must be undone.' Is there any love lost between our two nations, that you must make plans to bayonet those you called family, Shijin? To make plans to see Crownguard laid waste by those who would enslave or kill those who are different? Take this to your friends and masters in the lands of Gholgoth then: we will fight to the bitter end, and we will die with ease into the long night.

Where do you stand brother? Do you wait now and churn with indecision as you consider blood ties? Crownguard was forged with Tersanctus on the sands of Al Anbar, forged in the crucible of war. We were bound before the lands of Gholgoth had ever fully formed. Let us be bound again as friends in death, and fight the good fight, the fight you know in your heart is the true path to glory, strength, and honour. For to do otherwise is to consign yourself to a hollow mockery of what we once cherished, the bright future before us cast down in the shadows of slavery.

Stand with us, Shijin! Open the new front in this war! You know my heart, my words as sincere. Must you sell family to appease the unholy and the domineering? Must Crownguard and her allies fall in the cause of justice, to be ashamed of our former ties to glorious nobility? We will fight to the end, and will not surrender a single life unfought for, Shijin. You, above all others, know the cost of this proceeding war. You, of the Kungshaoist faith, should not fear death at the peril of saving your humanity! Others will aid us, once they see a strong front opposing tyranny.

So I ask you now: Will you stand with us on this dark day? Or will the blades and the souls of Edmund Dantes and Xavier Delryn be undone? The decision is yours, for we prepare now to die, and die as men and women, not slaves. I pray that you will remember that, at least, in the end.

Goodbye."

Xavier returned to the proceedings, his face cast in stone.

"We are prepared for this war. I have served on the frontlines, and I will serve again to see those like you cast down. This is a war we will fight, if we must. The cries of the innocent and the weak call for justice, Crimmond. If you must push this fight, then we will all die. So be it, if it must be. We will have died for a cause we believe in, and we regret nothing. As I said before, your nation is the battlefield that will be stained red with blood and churned to dust. Crownguard will fight to the very end, as will every living breathing Citizen. My military you speak of? I see a potential force numbering over a billion soldiers, each prepared and trained. I see an advance force of several millions being prepared for your borders. I see our allies pressing forward against your barbaric nation as well.

You speak of Gholgoth? What is Gholgoth but a collection of tyrannical states, propping up a regime in Crimmond not fit for swine, let alone civilized creatures? A land reeking of injustice, the flames of several civil wars settling, and the dead the indicator that a nation of savages exists on this planet? We will fight you, and we will fight whoever would ally such loathsome a nation, a nation that flaunts its atrocities to the world with seeming impunity. The Soviet Bloc will remain, as will Crownguard. Your forces are impotent, and scarcely considered. Your allies in this madness, those without hearts or minds to support such a regime, will find the cost equally as high.

You give us no negotiations, only threats, representative. We will not back down to them, nor will we stall this conflict, should you continue. By my word, those lives spilt WILL be answered for!"

Metal talonned finger tapped as Riok listened to each. He spoke to the Soviet first. "Why in hell would we fight an offensive war, sir? We have much better odds of winning a defensive war." A ghastly smirk as he looked at Xavier.

"As for you... stop spouting your propoganda. Your people may buy that tripe, but I know you don't. The hard numbers say that you are outnumbered and outgunned. Just because we're a regime that's full of bastards and sons-of-bitches and all kinds of other nasty people doesn't mean shit. The warriors on those borders and those shores and in those subs aren't us. They are Marines. They could run this nation. Hell, they used to run the nation..."

He stood slowly. "They don't care who runs the nation. They don't care why you are attacking the nation. They don't care if the Empire is at fault. They have sworn to repel any and all attacks against the Empire and they will do everything in their power to do that. Conventional or not..." A look at both of them.

"So we are stalemated, politically. Neither side is going to back down, we all know that. So what is it going to be, gentleman? Will we leave here only to clash again in war, or leave here and carry on with our lives?"
Dastardly Stench

The honorable David "Gusty" Gustavson prepared for a meeting with the Diplomatic Mission of The Holy Republic of Worsened Life. It was an attempt to coordinate activities and present a united front to other nationstates.

The Magical Realm was a peaceful place, where all the governments resided in peace and prosperity. Despite some rather stark dissimilarities--the citizens of the Holy Republic, for example, were sentient wasps--the governments of the realm lived together in peace.

The Dastardly Stench had been the most recent to make a home in the Magical Realm. At first, the wasp-people of Worsened Life had been ill at ease with their new neighbors, but the peace-loving nature and strong military of the Dastardly Stench had eventually won them over. As newcomers, the Dastardly Stench best remembered the harshness of the world of the nationstates, where others often looked down on them for inexplicable reasons.

Now the time had come to see about joining forces to stop the genocide in Crimmond.

The plan was simple: Dastardly Stench and Worsened Life would join forces, each doing what it did best. Worsened Life were seasoned veterans in the Magical Realm. No nation could open a portal more quickly--or close one. Dastardly Stench had elite Special Forces that were trained in stealth combat, the Silent But Deadly brigade. Worsened Life would move the SBD's in and out and they'd come back with as many (live) Elven as possible--helping to evacuate them from certain death at the hands of the Crimmond pogrom.

Having made the proper introductions, Gusty and his team stepped across the border and onto Crimmond soil. Gusty was concerned. Since moving to the Magical Realm, he had found that he and other dignitaries of the country could not prevent themselves from speaking in ways that had double meanings that could be construed as having something to do with...aromas. Most of the time, they weren't even aware of it. It could make for heady sessions. It was just something else that he and his people would have to learn to live with.

So it began.

OOC: wanted to lay some ground rules on how I was going to play the characters. Inside The Magical Realm, their speech is affected; outside, it's not. Items named inside TMR keep their names outside of TMR. That's why the subs are *Exhausters* and the aircraft carrier is the Gramma Brown.

OOC: Hold the phone here Dastardly Stench... drop me a TG detailing what exactly brought your people to the borders of Crimmond. And how they plan on getting through the armies on it. And what tech you are.

And.... any other useful tidbits you care to share with me.
