Fire Control
HIMARS is operated by a crew of three (driver, gunner and section chief).
The fire control system includes video, keyboard control, a gigabyte of programme storage and global positioning systems.
A command and control post would transmit a selected targets data via a secure data link to the HIMARS on-board launch computer. The computer then aims the launcher and provides prompt messages to the crew to arm and fire a pre-selected number of rounds. The launcher can aim at a target in less than 16 seconds.
The HIMARS on-board computer can be pre-programmed with target data.
Vehicle
HIMARS is a 6x6 all wheel drive 5 tonne truck and carry a single six-pack rocket pod.
Although it carries half the ammunition of the MLRS the HIMARS can be transported by a C-130 meaning it can be transported to areas that the larger C-141 and C-5 transport aircraft (required for MLRS airlift) couldn’t land.

Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
To view the MLRS click here (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/Alidor/Artillery/mlrs2.jpg)
Armament
The Multiple Launch Rocket System is a high mobility automatic system based on an M270 weapons platform. MLRS fires surface-to-surface rockets and the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). Without leaving the cab the crew of three (driver, gunner and section chief) can fire up to twelve MLRS rockets in less than 60 seconds.
The MLRS launcher unit comprises an M270 Launcher loaded with 12 rockets, packaged in two six-rocket pods. The launcher, which is mounted on a stretched Bradley chassis, is a highly automated self-loading and self-aiming system. It contains a fire control computer that integrates the vehicle and rocket launching operations.
The rockets can be fired individually or in ripples of two to twelve. Accuracy is maintained in all firing modes because the computer re-aims the launcher between rounds.
The MLRS can be readily transported to the area of operations, for example by the C-5 transporter aircraft or by train. MLRS has excellent cross-country mobility, and a road speed of 64km/h.
Munitions
The basic MLRS tactical rocket warhead contains 644 M77 munitions, which are dispensed above the target in mid-air. The dual-purpose bomblets are armed during freefall and a simple drag ribbon orients the bomblets for impact. Each MLRS launcher can deliver almost 8,000 munitions in less than 60 seconds at ranges exceeding 32km.
Other mission-oriented rockets include the Extended-Range (ER) rocket, the Reduced-Range Practice Rocket (RRPR) with a range of 8km to 15km and the AT2, which dispenses 28 antitank mines per round. The Extended Range rocket, first fielded in 1998, carries 518 improved munitions in excess of 45km.
Army Tactical Missile System
MLRS also fires the long-range Lockheed Martin Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) guided missiles. The ATACMS family includes the Block 1, Block 1A and Block 1A Unitary missiles. Block 1, which was used during Operation Desert Storm, carries 950 baseball-sized M74 submunitions to ranges exceeding 165km. The Block IA missile extends the range to more than 300km by reducing the submunition payload and adding GPS guidance.
Fire Control
The MLRS computerised fire control system enables a reduced crew, or even a single soldier to load and unload the launcher. A portable boom control device and cable hook assembly is used for loading and unloading.
The fire control computer allows firing missions to be carried out either manually or automatically. In a typical fire mission, a command post transmits the selected target data directly to the MLRS computer. The computer aims the launcher and prompts the crew to arm and fire a pre-selected number of rounds. Multiple mission sequences can be pre-programmed and stored in the computer.

The Starstreak SP HVM is an armoured vehicle air defence system.
The system has eight rounds of Starstreak missiles ready to fire with a further twelve missiles carried. SP HVM is fitted with a roof mounted Air Defence Alerting Device (ADAD). ADAD’s infrared scanner and processor provide target detection and prioritisation with the system automatically slewing the weapon sight onto the target.
Missile
The missile consists of a two stage solid propellant rocket motor, a separation system and three high density darts. A pulse of power from the missile firing unit causes the first stage motor to ignite, accelerating the missile from its canister. Once clear of its canister the motor is jettisoned, the second stage motor ignites accelerating the missile to Mach 4.
When the second stage motor is burnt out, three darts separate from the spent motor maintaining a high kinetic energy as they are guided to their target.
Each dart contains guidance and control circuitry, a thermal battery and a high density penetrating warhead with fuse. The separation of the darts arms the separate warheads and each dart is guide independently using a double laser beam riding system.
As the dart impacts its target the inertia forces the dart into the vehicle, while the delay fuse allows the darts to penetrate before detonation.

Sensors
The AH-64D Longbow Apache is equipped with the Northrop Grumman millimetre-wave Longbow radar. The Longbow fire control radar incorporates an integrated radar frequency interferometer for passive location and identification of radar emitting threats. An advantage of millimetre wave is that it performs under poor visibility conditions and is less sensitive to ground clutter. The short wavelength allows a very narrow beam width which is resistant to countermeasures.
The Longbow Apache can effect an attack in thirty seconds. The radar dome is unmasked for a single radar scan and then remasked. The processors determine the location, speed and direction of travel of a maximum of 256 targets.
The Target Acquisition Designation Sight, TADS (AN/ASQ-170) and the Pilot Night Vision Sensor, PNVS (AN/AAQ-11) were developed by Lockheed Martin. The turret-mounted TADS provides direct view optics, television and three fields of view forward looking infra-red (FLIR) to carry out search, detection and recognition and Litton laser rangefinder/designator. PNVS consists of a FLIR in a rotating turret located on the nose above the TADS. The image from the PNVS is displayed in the monocular eyepiece of the Honeywell Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS) worn by the pilot and co-pilot/gunner.

Ground Attack
A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog)
The A-10 can be viewed here (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/Alidor/Aircraft/a10_2.jpg)
The A-10
The A-10 is a high-survivability and versatile aircraft, popular with pilots for the 'get home' effectiveness. The mission of the aircraft is ground attack against tanks, armoured vehicles and installations, and close air support of ground forces. The aircraft is suitable for operation from forward air bases, with short take-off and landing capability. The aircraft has a long range (800 miles) and endurance and can loiter in the battle area. The manoeuvrability at low speed and at low altitude (below 1,000ft) allows accurate and effective targeting and weapon delivery over all types of terrain.
Cockpit
The single-seat cockpit is protected by all-round armour, with a titanium 'bathtub' structure to protect the pilot that is up to 3.8cm thick. The cockpit has a large bullet-proof bubble canopy, which gives good all-round vision.
The cockpit is equipped with a head-up display, which is used for targeting and weapon aiming, a Have-Quick secure radio communications system, inertial navigation and a tactical air navigation (TACAN) system. The A-10 has embedded global positioning system/inertial navigation system (EGI), which pinpoints the exact location of the aircraft. The A-10 also has terrain profile matching systems (TERPROM).
The pilot is equipped with night-vision goggles and also the infrared imaging display of the Maverick AGM-65.
Engines
The two non-afterburning turbo fan engines, TF34-GE-100, each supply 9,065lb thrust. The location of the engines, high on the fuselage, allows the pilot to fly the aircraft fairly easily with one engine inoperable.
Weaponry
The aircraft is armed with a GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon, mounted in the nose of the aircraft. Using the cannon, the A-10 is capable of disabling a main battle tank from a range of over 6,500m. The cannon can fire a range of ammunition; including armour-piercing incendiary rounds (API) weighing up to 0.75kg, or uranium-depleted 0.43kg API rounds. The magazine can hold 1,350 rounds of ammunition. The pilot can select a firing rate of 2,100 or 4,200 rounds per minute.
The A10 is capable of deploying a wide range of ordnance: for example, the LDGP Mk 82 226kg, 500lb general-purpose bombs, BLU-1 and BLU-27/B Rockeye II cluster bombs and the cluster bomb unit CBU-52/71.

Mr Clarkson,
Thank you for your timely reply. As we have reviewed the priceing system. We at this time wish to purchace twenty(20) law inforcement units. We shall take delievery at your port via military carrier if this is acceptable. To be purchaced also will be fifty(50) full units, to be used as a test bed for our carrier based deployment system. Please indicate what bank acount monies need be deposited in.
Now that our talks are done, we aproch you with a offer. Were your company, and our country to enter into a joint building venture, we could together offer a "law enforcement" model of the A129, capable of patrol over major cities, and rural areas. To wit, we suggest we shall provide the RC-CSGM deployment systems, and techs to guide your techs in instalition and use. In turn, the cost of said system and instaltion could be included into the price of the unit. Payment per unit sold then deposited back into our company on a monthly basis. This would benifit your company by opening it to sales in the non-lethal and civilian markets, and benifit our country by showing off our latest products for croud control, and chemical deployment.
I eagerly await your reply to both sale, and our suggested joint venture.
Obie Sunstreak,
Prez for life, Republic of Overbear.
Dear sir,
I am contacting you on behalf of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Thomas I of Cotland. The Emperors son will reach his eighteenth birthday next week, and as a special treat to him, the Emperor wish to buy him a car. Not just any car, mind you. A safe, bullet- and bomb-proof car, that also looks good and can drive fast. It must also be a car in which the Prince may bring his friends and enjoy such pleasures as DVD, music, satellite uplink so they can surf the world wide web, fridge and such. Your Diplomatic Transport Vehicle suits the wishes of His Imperial Majesty perfectly.
Therefore, I wish to make a order of one Diplomatic Transport Vehicle, preferably painted in a dark blue scheme with blackened windows. And I naturally hope that you can deliver on time and with utmost secrecy? If so, we shall wire $120 000 Universal Standard Dollars to your account.
Sincerely,
Phillip Blaketon
Personal Aide to the Emperor

I can confirm your order has been dispatched to you nation in a very large wood box with a big red sticker on either side stating ‘This is not a armoured vehicle for the Prince of Cotland’ the four armed guards standing at each corner of the box look completely inconspicuous in their dark grey suits and black sun glasses.

The continued partnership has proved invaluable in the recent actions taken by the Hyst government. Other purchaces have allowed the Hyst military to become a strong player in intenational war games and wars. Hyst would recomend the incorperation of a naval division to the Strategic Arms division as well as a aerospace division. The ground supplies provided here are invaluable, but the necessary dilivery systems for troops and ordinence (IE Fighters and carriers) are insufficent for the tatical use of your ordinence abroad.
Hyst has become able to send a very flexable and able forces abroad in two fleets (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8957240&postcount=16). Not included are the compliment of 150 nuclear wepons and the domestic military forces not deplayed(including 2 other carriers and additional aircraft).

Dear Mr. Clarkson,
Owing to the exceptional speed and quality of our previous purchases from you, my colleague Defence Minister Otetsu and I would like to make Strategic Arms Inc. the official supplier to the Karullian Militia. We are, at present, restructuring our militia in terms of equipment and training, and as a result would like to make a fairly hefty order from you. Over the next several years, we wish to order:
2,000,000 pairs of Assault Boots (US$100,000,000)
2,000,000 Infantry Bergens (US$500,000,000)
2,000,000 DPM Shirts (Urban) (US$20,000,000)

2,000,000 " Jackets (Urban (US$120,000,000)
2,000,000 " " (Forest) (US$120,000,000)

Do you provide a line of helmets? If so, we would also like to place an order for them.
Also, we would like to sign up 30,000 of our soldiery for your paratrooper training. We will wire across to you the sum of US$460,000 plus an additional US$40,000,000 as a gift if you can fulfill all these requirements for a total of US$1.5bn.
I know this is a heavy order, but we require these with some urgency. Please could you inform us of a rough estimate when the order will be ready?

I can confirm that your clothing order has been confirmed and shall be dispatched shortly to your nation.
We are currently carrying out ballistics testing on several military helmets to confirm that they match our stringent quality standards before we offer them for sale.
We can train 30,000 soldiers in the Paratrooper/Ranger course with five thousand starting per month for six consecutive months with each group of five thousand being ready of military service eight months after training has commenced.
The total cost of training 30,000 soldiers in the Paratrooper/Ranger course is 4,800,000,000 USD.
We understand that this is a lot of money to train soldiers, but when you factor in military discipline trainers, Fitness trainers, Drill instructors, Vehicle handling experts, Martial Arts trainers, Weapons instructors, Helicopter flights, Camouflage and tactics trainers and the renting of land from the Alidorn government for the area specific training (Jungle and Urban locations) we unfortunately cant afford to offer this training programme for less than the price stated.
I hope this will not affect your decision to make Strategic Arms Incorporate your militaries official supplier as we consider this a great honour and do not wish to seem ignorant to this fact.

Dear Mr. Clarkson,
Thank you for undertaking such a large order. We anticipate the arival of the gear with great excitement.
As for the training program, it appears my original order was misrepresented to you by my secretary. The order was supposed to be for 3,000 soldiers trained at the price quoted. The aforementioned secretary has been transferred to our Refuse Management division.
My apologies for this, and, naturally, my gratitude extends to you for raising this matter. The decision to approach SAInc as our official military supplier remains as stated originally, and it would be appreciated if you would add an extra US$5,000,000 to our bill as an apology for causing you this inconvenience.

Mr. Clarkson
Due to recent military expansions, troops numbers have risen above expected numbers and, as such, we are running out of unioforms. Seeing as we can't have our troops all out fighting in the nude, we have come to you for our needs. We require:
250,000 Assault boots
250,000 DMP Trousers
250,000 DMP T-Shirts
250,000 DMP Shirts
250,000 DMP Jackets
250,000 Theatre Specific Vests
Total price comes to $41,750,000, wired upon delivery. If items prove satisfactory, then we will consider coming here for our future military-oriented needs.
Thank you.
P.S. This is probably a stupid question, but how much would it cost to get priduction rights for the mentioned items? Not to sell to others, but so I won't have to worry about clothes shopping for an army ever again.

Dear Mr Clarkson,
once again the Ministry of defence of the armed republic of DAKKADAKKA42 whishes to purchase a number of weapons systems from your fine company. Following extensive research, development and testing; our enginers have finally perfected the new mounting systems for our locally produced 15.5mm machineguns for the EH101 Merlin. because of this we would like to place an immediate order for 40 of these aircraft. Also we would like to know if it would be possible to purchase a licence for the production of the EH101. These will be made already incorporating the 15.5mm and will have the desegnation EH101A1. These helicopters are identical in all respects to the EH101 apart from the fact that it mounts our 15.5mm gun in place of the 12.7mm.
Also the 4 AH-64D Apache Longbow Attack helicopters we purchased have performed extremely well in combat trails and we would like to order a further 20 of these aircraft.
total cost of order: $1010 million
