Gaian Temporal Detection Array - Gaia System
Commander Jordan had been up all night, and he was getting irritable. He started to doze off, when a loud PING came in thru the tracking station to his right. Any nation using temporal technology that was not licensed by the accord records would be given an alert.
He began to read the message on the screen, after alerting the rest of the detection array. Crew began to file in to all stations.
Temporal Detection Message:
Temporal Manipulation Drive in use. No recognizable pattern detected. Alert Status Red.
Jordan stood up...
"We have a definite contact coming from an unknown source. The Siesatian Temporal Incursion Fleet Station will already have received the message, and will depart in 3 minutes. We need the most reliable information available." He stated, and they got to work, probing the area where the technology was detected. When cross-referencing the data with the ESUS Database, and Earth Nation Registry, it was confirmed to be a nation called Einhauser. This information was forwarded to Indra Prime Temporal Incursion Fleet High Command, Klonor's high fleet command, and Jangle Jangle Ridge's high fleet command.
Alpha Fleet:
6 Polaris Class Temporal Battleships
2 Freestar III Class Carriers (6000 Fighters each)
The Temporal Incursion fleet arrived, and made its prescience known to Einhauser, with a curt message. They also began scans of the poisonous atmosphere above the city, and cramped spaces.
From: Siesatian Temporal Incursion Fleet Alpha
To: Einhauser leader Jason Green
Subject: Cease and Desist
Jason Green, CEO of the nation of Einhauser, this is the Siesatian Temporal Incursion Fleet Alpha. We have detected the use of a device known to us as a Temporal Manipulation Drive. Siesatia, as a member of the Temporal Research Council, has a responsibility to deal with this threat to the Space Time Continuum. Cease and desist all temporal activity immediately. Any opposition will result in the complete destruction of your ships. Administrative members of the Temporal Research Council have been contacted, and will arrive shortly. Negotiations are open.
Alert fighters were launched from the Carriers. Einhauser didn't know what it was dealing with if they hoped for them to stand down, the captains of the Temporal Incursion fleet vessels were not the normal emotional captains of the regular navy, the loss of life of a nation was insignificant to the importance of the STC, and they would go to any length to save it.

In orbit of the Einhauser Homeworld, everything appeared to be normal business as usual. All of a sudden, with a strange feeling of Deja Vu, a temporal hyperspace window opened up and four pitch black vessels taking up tactical positions ready to confront the Einhauser. These four vessels, Four of the Elite Temporal Incursion Fleet, were the most dangerous vessels in the Indran Armada. One of them was massive, two were sleek yet powerful and a good bit smaller, while the fourth vessel was smaller still yet equally as formidable. Again, The four vessels that had "dropped" in, were the Eternal Spectre, the Columbia, the Challenger, and the Sarajevo. These vessels were of the Omega Temporal Dreadnaught , the Singularity Temporal Battle Cruiser (x2), and the Relativity Temporal Destroyer Classes, respectively. The three smaller vessels took up flanking positions behind the Dreadnaught and prepared to bombard any Einhauser facilities. As soon as the vessels were in position, Spatial and Temporal Defenses went up and they all prepped for battle, though they knew that the Einhauserians would pose very little threat to even the least heavily armored vessel, let alone four temporal warships of the Indran Navy. Once again, a transmission was sent, down to the planet from the Dreadnaught.
Attention Einhauserian High Command. This is Brigadier General Robert West of the Indran Temporal Incursion Fleet. Under the Articles of the Temporal Accord, I have been given permission to defend the Space/Time Continuum from any threat we percieve to it and we have the support of more than Forty-Three nations. You have four Temporal Warships poised to target and destroy your military and civilian infrastructure if you do not turn over all research pertaining to your development of unsanctioned temporal vehicles and research. Your research poses a clear and present danger to the sanctity of life in thie Galaxy and must be stopped immediately. You do not fully understand the ramifications of temporal manipulation and must be stopped. You will have twelve hours to turn over all material pertaining to the construction of your engines to a signatory nation of the Temporal Accord. Your Twelve hours begin now.
To help matters along with another young nation playing with technology they shouldn't be, West sent down a copy of the Temporal Accord (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=346985) for the Einhauserians to read over to understand the crimes they have committed.

Coming out of hyperspace at the edge of the solar system containing Einhauser's Homeworld, ships bearing the insignia of the Flaming Souls Space Command started their trip towards the planet.
On the bridge of the Omega Class Temporal Dreadnaught Hunter's Mercy, Galeel Stryer sent out a message.
Attention:
Brigadier General Robert West of the Indran Elite Temporal Incursion Fleet
Commander Jordan of the Siesatian Temporal Incursion Fleet Alpha
Subject: Hail
Greeting Gentlemen, I do not believe that I have had the pleasure of working with you before, let me introduce myself. Galeel Stryer at your service, commander of the fine fleet you see here. No official name for it yet, they just called me back into duty per se and I have been to lazy to give them a name. But anyways, enough idle banter. The reason we are here is to provide assistance in the Protection of the S/TC in accordance with our Signature on the Accord...thingy I really don't know what it is, nor do I care. I am just here to smash some skulls if that is what it comes down to. Well, I guess I am gonna go play some cards and drink until I get to you guys. We will be there in about an hour...See you then Gentlemen, and please, come aboard when I arrive. Drinks for everyone. See you soon.
With the message sent the ships began to cruise at maximum n-space speed towards the coordinates of the other ships.

A short message was sent to the Hunter's Mercy from the Command deck of the Eternal Spectre.
Galeel! Its been too long. I see you are now helming the ships we just built for you. How do they handle? Has the AI given you any grief? I look forward to sitting on our Obs deck, drinkin some scotch and beatin you again at Texas Hold'em! Talk to you when you get here. West OUT.

Galeel looked up from his book as the little light on his desk flickered. Suddenly a beep came from the Ships AI. It beeped again. Galeel knew it was an incoming transmission but didn't care. Not his job to answer the phone. After a second or two a low voice rang out, his voice.
You have reached the bridge of the Hunter's Mercy I am currently on the shitter so if it's important leave a message.
As he listened to the message Galeel laughed. He immediately sent his reply back.
West, you dirty old son of a wet mongoose. You know we only play Old Maid, poker is too complex for the crew you gave me. And the AI is a little bit emotional. I think you must have read the same book I am reading right now. Well see you soon. Handles like a flying brick by the way. Sayonara you old dog.

Message to: Galeel Stryer of the Hunter's Mercy
From: Commander Tyr Jordan of the Polaris Star
This is Commander Tyr Jordan, nice to see a friendly face, it is far too quiet up here. I hope we can achieve peace with Einhauser, I don't like the scans of the atmosphere, heavily laced with pollutants, and the ESUS records indicate lifeforms of various health and genetic makeup. We have landing craft, but I wouldn't want to go down there.
Now, formalities over, I have orders from the Siesatian Temporal Incursion Fleet Headquarters, to assist Indra Prime in containing the temporal technology, we have activated an inhibitor around the planet, that will stop most forms of Temporal Manipulation Drives, if your ships need to leave, get 1000 KM away from the planet itself.
I would be interested in a meeting afterwards, I will have to see what Fleet Commander Syphera thinks... She is watching from the Pegasus, which is currently cloaked, and actively scanning the planet. These Polaris ships are new, so she might want to get them home before something goes wrong.

Well, just to let you know, I am not military anymore. So you can call me what you please. And as such, I choose not to display any formal military bearing, for the most part. Yeah, so...anyways. I do have to say one thing about the possibility of landing on the planet. Seeing as all of you are used to life in space and on unpolluted planets, I will be more than willing to go down and be the delegate. I have spent my share of time in harsh environs. Also, may I extend a warm greeting to Syphera, sneaky little devil. Well, I am almost done with my book and don't really like idle chit-chat unless it is around a card table. Have a nice day.

Having remained 1100 km away from the planet, Galeel had no trouble jumping to his destination. As the commanders of both the Siesatian and Indran fleets watched in amazement, the Hunter's Mercy alone of the Flaming Souls fleet, jumped to Earth.
-----
Half an hour later, the Hunter's Mercy reappeared in the same spot that it had previously occupied. Then using her normal engines she moved into orbit to observe the happenings on Einhausers homeworld. As he watched the planet, Galeel felt the urge to explain what had happened to his comrades.

Subject: The reason I left
I heard on the news that some idiot was attacking Earth, so I had to go check it out. I sent out a message calling for a cease-fire, but recieved no reply. So you know, I came back. Guess I coulda stayed and helped defend the planet, but they had it under control. Besides, I could have fired a few PSP's at em and solved the problem entirely, but hey, I am too nice to do that. And I didn't want to ditch out on our card game. Any word from Einhauser while I was gone?
With that he sat back down and continued to read his book.

An aide came running into Jason Greens office. "Sir," he wheazed. "something has come up. It is of the direst nature." panted the aide. It was not often he was required to run, and he had grown fat in his 90 years in service of the CEO of Einhauser. Jason Green looked at his aide with mild hatred. He had been in the midle of a very important phone call to some... friends. Some very powerul friends who didnt like to get their conversations cut short. Thankfully, Jason pushed his thoughts on The Mob to the back of his mind and took the folder his aide was offering him.
"This had better be good..." grumbled the CEO. As he lifted the cover off with one of his six mechanical hands, a gasp escaped his fleshy, bulbous lips, for in the picture on the front page was a warship; greater than any he had ever seen. "How long has it been here?" asked Jason.
"The various fleets have been in orbit for sever..."
"What do you mean 'various fleets'? Are there than one ship out there?" interupted Jason. His aide nodded. "Why wasnt I informed of their pressence?!" asked the half-man machine.
"Y-you were, uh, busy... sir" stuttered the aide. Jason grumbled and hit a large metalic stud on the massive desk in front of him. A framed picture of lush green farmland on the wall facing the desk flickered out of existance, and in its place was a video screen.
"Get them on comm" commanded Jason of his aide, who simply nodded and backed out of the room, presumably to activate the screen. Indeed, a moment later there was a flicker and the screen showed the interior of a ship. Slowly, jason began to speak in a oily, itch inducing voice he had learned oh so well from his former employer, Don Giovanni. "Hello, Gentlemen. It apears we have... Issues, to discuss..."
OOC terribly sorry it took so long for me to respond. You see, I am on the west coast of the USA, so I was asleep while you guys were doing this topic. I had just woken up when I saw the TG Siesta sent me.
Id also like to explain the longevity of the two indiviguals mentioned here. Each has a lifespan of centuries, but not because I am using time bending stuff. No, their lifespans are long because all Einhauserian goverment officials are more machine than they are man. If youve ever read any of the Warhammer 40,000 novels, these guys are like tech priests.

The image of the oily, mech man, as he could only be described was a stark contrast to the sleek slimline technology in the periphial vision of General West as he watched the CEO of this nation try to diplomatically address him and the fleet.
"Hello, Gentlemen. It apears we have... Issues, to discuss..."
Yeah naw shit. thought the general. You's think people would've gotten the message by now. He cleared his throat and prepared to lay down the ultimatum that brought him and the other two nation's fleets here.
"I am Brigadier General Robert West of the Indra Prime Temporal Incursion Fleet High Command. We are here by rights given to us under the articles of the Temporal Accord. Our sensors have identified unauthorized development of Temporal Technology in the form of a device you refer to as.."
He paused here to look down at a data pad in his hand and then looked back up to continue.
"... a Temporal Manipulation Drive. Under Article Five of the Temporal Accord, we are hereby ordering the immediate termination of your program and relenquishment of contraband Temporal Technologies and the research pertaining to them. Refusal to comply will be considered a hostile act and will be treated as such."

Jason Green licked his lips thoughtfully. The general on the other end of the viewing screen looked impatient. "I am afraid that is not possible, general. You see, we have invested a great deal of capitol into the TMD, and we would hate to have our investment not pan out. However, I can assure you, and all of your," Jason glanced at the moniters o nthe side of the screen, each of which depicted a seperate fleet, "assosciates, that the TMD is harmless to the STC. To prove it, I will immediatly send a copy of the description of the machine to each of you. If that still does not satisfy you, contact the Mass Opiate of the Resi Corperation. I belive they can vouch for us." Jason sat back in his plush hover-chair while three of his mechanical hands clicked away on the various keyboards surmounting his desk. With a final tap of the "enter" key, the description was sent. It reads as follows:
"My idea for an engine is called the Time Manipulation Drive. Let me explain how it works. When a ship begins to use its sub-light engines, it slowly begins to pick up speed. It can take quite a while to get going very fast, and even at full speed it is only going a fraction of the speed it could be going with it’s Faster Than Light (FTL) engines. That’s what the Time Manipulation Drive (TMD) changes.
The TMD uses a burst of energy from a Warp Coil (a big spiral of specially treated metal composites that conducts and stores massive amounts of energy) to force the ship’s shield generator to create multiple force fields. The two fields, one inside the other, trap layers of time. The first shield encompasses the ship and contours to it, trapping a layer of standard time, and the second, rounder shield surrounds the first field, which contains a second layer of time.
Special spikes are planted at strategic positions along the hull of the ship that protrude through the first shield and into the second. The tips of these spikes are filled with nanobots that can build new nanobots out of the bodies of the old. These bots will keep the tips of the spikes from being destroyed as time goes by. Now, beyond the second field is normal time, just like what’s inside the first shield.
After the two fields are in place, the TMD sends a second, higher pulse of energy through the tips of the spikes and into the second layer of time. This speeds it up vastly. For example, is you were going 100 MPH and you engaged the TMD for 300 years, the ship would essentially travel at 100 MPH for three hundred years. When you drop out of accelerated time, you would find out that you had been traveling at 30,000 mph.
What’s that you say? Wouldn’t the ship get deteriorated and the crew die over all that time? No! Remember the first layer of time? It doesn’t speed up. Life goes on as normal inside the first shield, even as millennia are streaking past in the second. The thrust from the engines is the only part of the ship to reach into the second layer.
When the destination is reached, the inner field expands (with the help of the rest of the Warp Coil’s energy) and cancels out the second field. The result is that you can move millions of light years in only a few seconds. The faster the ship’s sublight engines, the more fuel for said engines the ship carries, the number of warp coils the ship carries, how many planets are in between you and the target, and what kind of shield generator the ship has all effect the range and speed the ship is capable of.
Recharging the Warp Coil is problematic. It stores so much energy that it can take days to fully recharge using only the power from the main engines. This process can be speeded up considerably with the installation and use of solar sails. These giant, circular sails are 50 miles in diameter, and composed of a mesh of fabrics only 1/40th of an inch in thickness. The main drawback to these sails is the steep cost (the material is roughly $1,089 a square foot) and the lack of space to put them on board a ship. Their other main problem is that the fabric is white in color, and is very visible from quite a ways away. While using the sails, the ship cannot move for fear of wreaking the sails.
Here are some Pros and Cons to the TMD:
Pros: Nearly instantaneous travel to anywhere, can’t be damaged while using TMD, can’t be tracked with sensors.
Cons: Massive energy requirements, long recharge time, possibility of ending up in the apocalypse, cant be tracked with sensors while using TMD, cant fire weapons while using TMD, cant steer while using TMD, cant view the outside while using TMD, cant stop until destination is reached, must drop shields to engage engine.
The process of using the TMD is as follows:
The captain inputs the coordinates of the desired target into the TMD’s navigation computer. The computer finds the fastest path there while still avoiding plants and other such obstacles. When that is done, the captain sets the ship on the course laid out by the computer, then engages the sub-light engines, and then drops the ships shields. After this is done, he engages the TMD, and then waits for the computer to bring the ship out of accelerated time. As soon as the ship is out, you can turn the shields back on.
The pricing of the system is as follows:
Complete TMD: This set contains 1 Warp Coil (uncharged), 100 spikes, a starter pack of nanobots, and the navigation computer. $759 million
Extra Warp Coils: This item consists of 1 Warp Coil (uncharged) and enough wiring to hook it up to an existing TMD. $367 million
Solar Sail: Complete with cabling, storage and winch systems, and the sail itself, this item is all you will need for super-fast recharging of Warp Coils. $3 million.
Extra Spikes: If a ship is larger than the TMD is intended for, the 100 spikes included with the TMD may not cover it. This set remedies that by offering an additional 100 at the one-time low, low price of $1.98 million"
OOC I hope you dont mind the way the description is written. i had it written up for when I first came up with it, and thats why it seems to be OOC instead of IC. I should also say that although there are prices quoted, only me and an assosciate have acces to this technology. As you can see, it poses no threat to the STC, as the engine would require so much energy to keep the ship in the future, that at least six worlds whose population did nothing but run on treadmills would be needed as generators.
Also, im afraid i cant relinquish the TMD. I really did put a lot of work into it, and it is one of my favorite inventions. I will sign the Temporal Accord (yes, I read it), but I will not relinquish it.

OOC: Fair enough. From your description it sounds like cool FTL tech but non Temporal, at least in the sense that I'm talking about.
IC: CEO Green, from your descriptive information it doesnt appear as if the technology is powerful enough to cause any adverse effects to the Space/Time Continuum. Despite you apparent good intentions by diplomatically ending this situation we need more than a slight description. We will need nothing less than the actual blueprints on this engine module so out engineers can determine if it works in the way you say it does. If it works the way you say it does, we will back down and return the plans to you. Of course we will still monitor your nation to make sure that no unauthorized temporal development is created without our knowledge, as we do with all nations who have come to our attention. If you do all of this willingly, this is as far as this confrontation must go. Our vessels would return to dock and not bother you again if you follow the rules and regulations set out by the Temporal Accord. We welcome your signature added to the Temporal Accord, which you will need to formally declare.

Jason sighed inwardly. This is what he had been hoping for. "Of course, general. We would be happy to allow you to dock. Of course, as we are not nearly as experienced with stellar technology, the only docking facilities we have will only fit one, corvette sized ship. Of course, you could send a shuttle instead, but the space dock tends to be a haven for... undesireables, who may not hesitate to attack anyone they see as having money. Of course, we will send an escort, but you may want to bring along a few hundred soldiers. For security reasons, of course.
I would also like to make it clear that although you will be provided with the blueprints, you may not under any circumstances duplicate or sell any part or system described therein. Such would be unchivelrous, wouldnt you agree?"
Jason mopped his forhead and took a deep breath of the heavily filtered air circulating through his offices. "That reminds me, general. Have you sufficient enviromental protection? I would recommend fully sealing bodygloves with their own air supply for each man present."

Tyr straightened up after a brief communique with fleet command...
"I have been authorized to offer 1 trillion Siesatian dollars, in credit or hard assets, or a technology, such as atmospheric scrubbers, for the cooperation with the technology of the Time Manipulation Drive, and our assurances that it will not leave in any form, our borders."
He leaned over, and red the last part of the notes.
"As for a docking, we would send down a representative, as long as we have assurances for the cleanliness of the air, of the meeting room."
OOC: I posted this earlier but got a database error.
I also want to say, that I didn't know how it worked. I never saw an explination, all I saw was a device that got around FTLi with the omnious name of 'Time Manipulation Drive'. which is normally within our mandate.

Jason was slightly puzzeled, and his metalic fingers reflected this by nervously clicking together. "I can assure you, Commander Jordan, that as long as we recive our blueprints back and you make no attempt whatsoever to duplicate them, that is all the compensation we desire. That, and you fleet leaving orbit, of course.
As for wanting an "atmosphere scrubber", all I can say is why would I want that? If I were to use it, my population would become healthy and more than likely rebel. Plus, without the alll-enveloping clouds of pollutants, Einhauser would be just another country, open for conquest.
I can also assure you," resumed Jason, as he began to mix a drink consisting of pure water; a commodity most precious these days, "that the air in my facility is clean. That much cannot be said about the spaceport. Be sure to bring vaccum sealed bodygloves with their own air supply."
OOC: im not sure this is the best idea, you comming down, that is. If youve read the "Open letter to Indra Prime and the T.A." thread on II, you would see that we are on the opposite sides of an argument. I have nothing against you, but im not sure the T.A. members would want you fraternizing with the other side, lol.

The crowd parted as though a massive naval ship of Old Earth had passed through their midst, and in a way, one had. There was enough steel surrounding the oncoming group of individuals to be mistaken as a ship from a distance, and all the gun barrels sticking out the sides didn’t help to change the illusion. But that was just it, and illusion, for inside lay not the halls and reactors of a warship, but the posh hover-car that housed the decadently dressed Jason Green.
The car he sat in was little more than a steel sheet, about as thick as plywood, yet remarkable strong. There are no walls or ceilings, just ten chairs placed on spindly legs attached to the thin chassis. There were no wheels, and there were no obvious propulsion systems. Yet, the car trundled on inside the giant, armored hull with its air purifiers on full.
As the car/ship pulled up to one of the gates at the starport (for that was where they were), an immense clatter rose from inside. Jason Green was extricating his massive, blubbery form from the too small seat he had occupied. Finally succeeding in freeing himself, he left the armored hull of the escort crawler through an open door, and was instantly surrounded by his elite bodyguard. They waited at the side of the ship for the fleet representatives to arrive.
