The female journalist quickly slid back a string of hair from her eyes, and facing the camera began to speak.
The USSHR's Supreme Soviet has voted to make an astounding decision twenty minutes ago, concerning the recent embassy hostilities in Stizy Stovgorod. Comrade Josef Dorsal will be appearing soon to make a statement - oh, wait, here he is!

The camera pans to a podium outside the Supreme Soviet Parliament Building. Dorsal is standing there and is about to speak.

Nations of the world;
I am here, presenting myself to you today regarding a foul action of the Soviet Union concerning the Merchant Guilds. As you may know last week Soviet Security Forces stormed the embassy, sovereign land, of The Merchant Guilds. On behalf of the Soviet Union and her citizens, I, Josef Dorsal, hereby take full responsibility for the unthinkable actions of that day. I also, with deep regrets, apologise to The Merchant Guilds for what i can describe as only a vile action by our security forces. The USSHR is willing to reimburse TMG for their wasted time and a violation of their sovereignty.
Thank you for your time.

The response to this suprising announcement was made within a few hours of furious discussions and debate within the Imperial Court and the Imperial Senate.

The response was as follows:

To: Josef Dorsal

We are most surpised to hear of this retraction of what has caused a great rift between our nations. We have discussed this at length and have decided on the following course of action:

To accept your apology and ask as compensation that recieve $5,000,000 in damages from your nation, as well as the return of all personnel and bodies, which were of Guilder origin.

We also suggust in light of this retraction that a Non-Aggression Pact be formed between our two great nations to foster trade and co-operation.

For God and Saint Peter,

Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Emperor,

To the New National Anthem of the USSHR, the annoucement made on this day, 18th of April, 2005, would make it's mark in history. This day, the Dictator of the Soviet Union, backed by 4,780 [all of the Liberal Party and Soviet Progressive Party] of 5,251 Supreme Soviet Ministers signed the treaty that concluded peace with the nation of The Merchant Guilds. This was possibly the first time in History that a hardline Communist nation and a hardline Capitalist nation had willingly signed peace without conflict. Releasing a statement eight minutes later Josef Dorsal said;

We welcome peace and a non aggression pact with the nation of The Merchant Guilds. May many years of fruitful prosperity follow the signing of this marvellous treaty. Now, I present a further offer to the Merchant Guilds of that of free trade: whether our traders will be reallowed to enter your country and vis aversa.
