Pledge of Allegiance
All new recruits, upon graduation from boot Camp, are to repeat this.

From this day forward, I am a soldier of the Divine Reich of Tocrowkia. My duty is to protect the Reich, her people, and the Emperor (Or Empress) from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The Reich is me, and I am the Reich. I realize that being a soldier of the Reich is a sacred duty, and until death take me, or my master release me, I am in the service of the Reich, now and forever.

Branches:

Special Divisions

Waffen-SS
A special Division of the normal Army, the Tocrowkian Waffen-SS contains only the best troops in her army. They are used as shock troops and elite reservists, as they can break many a stalemate being as well armed and trained as they are.

Assairs Guard
A special Division of the Marines, the Assairs Guard serve as the Reich's Secret Service(protecting the Emperor), anti-terrorism and elite covert operation cores. They are stout, hard men and women. They will fight to the end, and will not surrender.


Normal Branches

Army
Making up the majority of the Divine Reichs Military, The Army is used for "Main Invasions"(In which Tocrowkia is the main invading party). They are stout men, and considered at the least, B class troops.

Marines
Training for this Branch is intense, but the reward is some of the best fighting men and women in the world. Making up less then 40% of the Military, the Marines are used to support allied invasions.

Navy
A Spartan system, demanding high levels of physical and mental excercise. Sailors are taught how to do several things at once in a small space without being distracted by others. It is safe to say this tactic works.

Luftwaffe
The Reichs Air Force is gigantic and feared. The Luftwaffe demands only the strongest and smartest recruits, as training is intense. In the later months, live cruise missiles are shot at the pilots. They ones that survive are thought to be some of the best pilots in the world, and the ones that failed? They can be found littering the wide open plains of the Reich.

History...


Ancient age

How the native peoples of Tocrowkia reached the island is a mystery. How ever, the traders of Carthage first discovered them. The northern people were reported to be reclusive, shy, and polite(If not a bit xenophobic). They mainly lived in villages in the centers of forest clearings. The people of the southern steppes were reported to be also reclusive, but polite.

The people of the plains were often considered the less civilized of the two, though. Their hair was wild and untamed, and they were often very dirty as water was scarce around the steppes, and not one of them wished to take the dangerous rout to Kharazuma. Their weapons were also less advanced then the peoples of the north, consisting mainly of shell swords and short bows.

No definite Tocrowkian state existed until the fall of Rome. The massive nation was divided mainly into tribes like the barbarians of Europe. The tribes also had a loathing of each other, as each city state took part in raids upon each other daily.

Digital Recreation of the battle for/of Pharamas

The Medieval age saw the first unification of Tocrowkia. By this time, increasing trade with The Holy Roman empire brought German culture and Religion into the island. Christianity spread like a wild fire, and paganism disappeared within the first hundred years of the introduction of Christianity. The German language also gradually overtook the native language of the Tocrowkian peoples.

It was through the spread of the Christian religion that the formation of the first Tocrowkian state took place. Though, like the Holy Roman Empire, it was more of a religious confederacy then a true unified state. It was around this time that the city state of Legxxum, a European puppet by this time broke off from the Holy Tocrowkian Empire, and began a savage spree of conquering.

The rest of Tocrowkia was quickly brought to it's knees. Their armies were not on par with Legxxum's, whom had armed them selves with the latest European weapons and tactics. For years bloody battles ensued, and the Tocrowkians always lost. One day, how ever a mysterious man showed up. His name was Assair Emmerich. He was a main from the south, he reported his village was attacked, and a good deal of his family slaughtered. Assair volunteered for general, and seeing as their old general had fallen in the last battle, the Tocrowkians had nothing to loose.

And so, Assair and 48,000 men rode north. And in a shocking combination of battles, Assair defeated Legxxum with only 3,000 casualties. Legxxum was reported to have lost over 70,000 troops that day. How ever, as his armies neared Pharamas, he realized it was an ambush. Assair quickly found his weary, tired troops surrounded by over 300,000 of Legxxum's own. The battle lasted for three hours, and it appeared it would be Assairs last. How ever, for a brief moment, the Legxxum soldiers exposed their flank. It was then that Assair charged his Calvary into them, and smashed their tight formation. The troops were quickly killed once that happened.

How ever, lord Assair suffered a fatal wound. A pike had impaled him through his stomach. He died three days after the battle, to the grief of his men. Fate had denied Assair the privilege to see Legxxum destroyed, how ever. Only thirty years after his death did Empress Airyana, Assair's granddaughter. It was for this reason that the Empress was loved by her people almost as much as her grand-father.

The Legendary battle of Dagrid, in which Pharamas lost over 850,000 troops in three hours.

It was a bizarre chain of events that Tocrowkia once again broke down into separate nations. Murder, coupes, and grudges in the royal family lead to the separation of Tocrowkia into three nations. The Pharamas Empire, which had the largest man pool, the Badrial-Redg Empire, which being fishing cities generated huge incomes, and the Kharazuma empire which had a natural fort against attackers.

By 1798, Amaar Emmerich had ascended the Pharamas Empire throne. This man, unlike Assair or Airyana was despised by his people. He was rumored to be completly and utterly insane. Amaar immediatly launched attacks on Badrial-Redg, and years of bloody wars were fought. By 1804, Amaar had destroyed Badrial-Redg, but with a cost of over 1 Million soldiers.

His next target was Kharazuma, but on his first campaign a horrible blizzard claimed the lives of over half his army. Bitter and angry, he returned to Pharamas to gather more troops. In 1812, he relaunched his attack on Kharazuma. The war was more of a hide and seek game, and the two armies met only one. On the plains of Dagrid, Amaar launched his levie troops at Kharazuman elite forces.

For three hours, the regiments of Pharamas charged and retreated. One Kharazuman officer commented on how the soldiers came in waves, and were shot down in waves. Though the battle was long and costly, Kharazuma was forced to retreat due to the facts their men had run out of ammo, they had gotten tired of shooting, and the ground was to littered with black uniformed bodies and blood to aim properly. Amaar gave his armies no time to recover, and charged all the way to Kharazuma and began siege.

Within twelve months, Kharazuma surrendered and was annexed. And so began the Divine Reich...

I know how frustrating it is to try to get comments. I haven't begun to role-play yet, and I posted a thread that was a hell of a lot of writing (pages on pages in word) which described my nation in depth, but more through a narrative format...

As a newbie, I've got a question for you, Tocrowkia. Where do you come up with all your information? Such as area size, budgets, number of people in the military, etc.? Do you make most of it up, according to how the game responds to the answers to your issues (I know it decides population and a generalization of economy for us.)? I'm just curious. I want to do the same thing that you're doing here, for my nation.

Nice factbook, I especially like the history - it's nice to see a bakstory which explains why a nation is the way it is. Just a couple of minor points:
Are those heights for highest and lowest right? Cos 7000km and 566 miles are very high and very deep and very deep - if your nation is about the size of Antarctica, the entire nation will slope about 80 degrees, that's nearly vertical. And the lake would go well into the mantle (unless it was in the mountain).
There's a typo at the end of the Mediaeval History section - it says "Only thirty years after his death did Empress Airyana, Assair's granddaughter." and I'm assuming there should be more.
Cruise missiles aren't usually used to shoot at planes - if you really want to test your pilots, send a few batteries of SA-12s after them, they're much faster and more deadly.
Don't take this as me slating your factbook - if I can only find three minor mistakes in the whole thing, it must be pretty damn good. (As anyone from WaW can tell you, I can be a little bit of a pedant at times.)
