Cleansing of the Empire. All non-humans declared fugatives.

Imperial International Newslink
Linking the Empire with the world
Video footage streams across screens all over the Empire and to all major international news networks. Digitally enhanced, color-corrected, high-definition pictures.
In the background of it all, a commentator drones on in an unfeeling voice about 'inferior races', 'criminal activities', 'plots against the Empire' and so on. The images themselves tell the rest of the story...
Men and women stripped nude, placed in massive pits and raked with machinegun fire until the screams stop, before entombing them in the mass grave. Apartments being raided, soldiers beating people with their rifles until they're barely alive and then shooting them and their families. Executions in the streets of all the major cities. And the most stomach turning images are of the new hunter-soldiers unleashed on the cities. Called Civils, they grab people off the streat and dismember them, smash their skulls open and indulge in the contents. Babies are treated as toys, being tossed around before they grow tired and kill the child. Anyone who fights back is killed slowly by the merciless beasts.
At the end of the stream of video, it shows on Civil on a heap of dead bodies, screaming, drenched in the blood of the dead.
----------
Overlord Varchak's visage is the next thing in the broadcast. "As you can see, we are not going to be as weak and tolerant of the inferior as the last two administrations. The creatures you saw being killed were of the Elven species, the cyberneticly deformed, the mutated and the disenters. We are chlorinating the gene pool. All non-humans in Crimmond, not in the direct service of the Military, Police or Government are hereby declared fugatives and are to be hunted down. In this case... there is no such thing as unnessecary force." He smirks and taps his pen twice, signalling the doors behind him to open. In marches a whole squad of Civils, in full combat armor and carrying OICW-series weapons.
"These gentleman are the Civils. They are my newest creation. Designed to be the best hunter, tracker and killer that they can be. They are smarter than most humans, faster and stronger by far and have a bloodlust that would make Vikings cringe. They will play a big part in the Cleansing of the Empire.
"And... before you start thinking about invasion or war, you weak minded, elf hugging freaks of nature, let me remind you that you people couldn't kill me the first time, the second time or the third time... what makes you think you can now? Come, fight the Empire if you wish. The Civils are eager to get combat experience." All of them start to grin and nod as Varchak starts to laugh.

Genocide? Genocide is killing your own kind. You are not humans, so this isn't genocide. It's a cleansing of the genetic pool in the Empire. These peopel have been shown to be a threat. They may not be hardline Elves, such as those in Menelmacar... but they despise our allies just as much. That makes them dangerous. To everyone, not just the Empire. We are doing the world a servce by culling these miscreants.

Alyusha Chyorny inspected the crowd before him, and shook his head. "You call that grovelling? Use your knees, or they will be taken from you!" his guards made the point clear by brandishing their rifles ostentatiously. The Tsar smiled as everyone fell to the ground, and went back inside. "Let them make themselves useful, eh?"
"Indeed, sire." his Foreign Minister, Louis D'Arquis, handed him a special notice. "This for you, sire. Prime Minister Karzonov said you would appreciate it."
"Really?"
"Err...well, his exact words were, 'hand this over to the prince and let me get back to my coffee,'" Louis coughed, correcting himself.
"Yes, well." Alyusha inspected the briefing message and sighed. "...what did Dean say about this?" he demanded, though he knew what the answer would be.
"It's all a Resi Corporation plot."
"Yes, I thought he would. Okay, take this down and send it out in the morning."

Official statement from the government of the Divine Imperium:
"We are quite alarmed to hear about the destruction of non-human lives. We will offer refuge to all non-humans from Crimmond in order to protect them from the death squads that even now will be hunting them down and executing them according to our intelligence reports."
"Of course, this offer is also extended to Overlord Varchack, as we can not, in good conscience, with-hold this offer from any non-humans. Even those which seem to have missed a couple of evolutionary steps."

Varchak blinked at the message. It was... sterile. Clean. Completely tactful. "What the hell happened in Roania while I was gone?! They used to be so much more fun. And who the hell is this Tsar?" He sighed and considered his response.
--------
I knew that the calls for refuge would come in... but I never dreamed that the leader of Roania would be one of those weak minded fools. In the decade I was gone, your nation has gone soft. And so has your intelligence. Even now, all the borders are sealed. The media outlets are controlled by me and the Imperial Inquisition. The shorelines mined. The ports under military control. The airbases under lockdown. We'd shut down airports too, but there hasn't been one operational in Crimmond for fourty years. If you want to get them out, you'll have to fight your way in, get them and fight your way out. And if your political BS message is any gauge of your backbone, you won't even give it serious thought.

~~
Private Response from the Tsar:
"I regret to inform you that the Divine Imperial Boy Scouts are too busy to inspect your defences today. Please make an appointment with our office."
"Of course, we would ordinarily send the Legions in on such an... important task as making sure your fortifications are up to snuff, but... I won't insult either of us by claiming that they'd be worth wasting the ammunition on."
"I also regret that your nation's infrastructure is such that it has no airports. But don't worry, when you decide you want to enter the first world, we will be glad to assist you in building airports. And maybe, God Willing, someday you will also be have buildings instead of caves?"
"Or is that on the bicentenial plan? At any rate, when you're done killing off your nation's intellectuals, I suggest a few more targets: dark-haired men in black, wearing badges? You can't trust 'em."

----
The entire message of the Tsar was sent over the airwaves, read word for word by Oran.

"I think the man's drunk." Dean Gray sniffed, taking a nice long drag from his cigar. "Drunk or very, very stupid." The Intel Advisor coughed. "Stop wasting time on Crimmond, and attack Resi Corporation!"
"Feh. What this needs is a very heavy touch. Plainly, being dead has destroyed Varchack's mind." PM Cartwright said, waving the smoke away. "Edmund, do we have any cruise missiles pointed at Crimmond?"
"No sah!" Hyazinth saluted.
"What?!"
"Not a threat, sah! On the other side of Asia from us, sah!"
"Honestly, Edmund..." Dean chortled, "you poor, sad, pathetic bastard. Here, have Edmund draft the next response."
~~
Crimmond's response was read out loud over Imperial Radio. Then Minister for the Armed Forces came on. "The Imperial Government sends its condolences to Riak Oran for having to waste his talents for a hack like Varchack. He should go into the theatre, where his ability to dress in women's clothing and big shiny armour would help him rise far."
"Our offer still stands to the Overlord himself. Should he wish to seek refuge with his fellow non-humans, we will gladly offer it to him. A nice comfortable room awaits him in the palace, where he will be amongst his relatives, the common canine, with whom he shares so much."
"It is a shame that Crimmond, from which so much good has come --just because we can't think of anything right now doesn't mean it doesn't exist-- is currently ruled by a man in a rather ugly toupee. Oh, to what depths autocracy has fallen in Europe..."

General Marco read the message and shook his head as he looked at Varchak. "We can launch in fifteen minutes. If they have any intelligence on Crimmond arms, they know that we don't have any nuclear arms, except for that one in the Skye Museum of Warfare. And it's Cold War era."
The Overlord sighed and nodded. "Launch. It's time for them to put up or shut up."
-----------
Within twenty minutes, missiles began launching from all across the Empire, some from within the cities themselves. Several thousand began the arching course indicative of ICBMs, towards the land of Roania.
Several minutes later(or howver long it would take), the missiles would start to near the airspace of Roania. As they did so, many would undoubtedly be taken down. The ones that did get through the defenses did something interesting...
The warheads seperated from the propulsion unit, which detonated in the air as the warhead continued on, pannels opening on the side. Thousands of leaflets from each missile, which had six warheads each, floated down on the populace. On one side was a picture of a nuclear explosion. On the opposite side was a message in the four trade languages, including English and Elven.
"This was a warning. Had this been an actual nuclear attack, your local highs for this afternoon would be in the low 10,000 K range. Have a nice day." It was signed with a smiley face. Crimmond has some very strange people in the military...
Air defenses in Crimmond were allready on alert. The entire air corps, or close enough, was in the air in alternating shifts, while the AAA, AA, SAM and Swarm sites stood ready to decimate any retaliation to the propoganda missiles.
The other two messages recieved were ignored. Varchak didn't believe they held anything worth responding to. God was laughed at in the Empire usually and as for technology? Crimmond rarely ever procurred foriegn technology.

Re: Elves
It's all a matter of 'style', Overlord. You can kill all the elves you want, just don't do it publically. We don't want the people who'll investigate you to turn around and decide to inspect our expenses closely, if you catch my meaning. Might we recommend the old 'they were trying to overthrow the government by subversive activities' register?
You know your own business best, of course, but we're still required to pretend to protest. Personally, I suggest allowing a token force of refugees out on some old ships, and then have that ship accidentally sink. Claim that they were threats to Crimmond's interests. If you know your history, 21st Century Australia pulled a very similar trick to bolster support for their government.
Just some friendly advice.

Wazzu. 4+ billion people jammed into the upper two thirds of what was once Sweden. A brilliant forest of a city with roots of tunnels, a single 30-50 story undergrowth, giant trees of skyscrapers surrounding artificial mountains of pseudo-glass and steal, and covered with a canopy of floating towns (bouyancy, not gravitics)...and it was all hidden in a thick, ionic, deadly toxic smog.
The coast of Bedou in Southern Sweden would be a much better place to land, if the Bedouans saw fit to let them in. But this did not stop many from trying Wazzu. Most died in the attempt.
It wasn't the hostility of the North Sea. That body of water was now comfortably warm from waste heat...both from neiboring Wazzu, and the city that carpeted the sea's floor (though that city remained a respectful 10km out to sea from other nations...like Crimmond). It was the damned smog. If the heat induced lightning cascading down the heavy metalic ions and the sides of skyscrapers didn't fry you, the smog itself would choke, poison, and melt the skin from your bones simotaniously...at least if you were in most areas.
Not that Wazzu much noticed. What little foreign (or domestic) events that the government was paying attention to were pretty much limited to Mars. What few survived the trip to indoors Wazzu were treated for their exposure and quickly hired until they could pay off their bills.
Not even the Wazzu citizenry paid too much attention. They were an apathetic bunch overall, and most of their attention was diverted elsewhere as well.

M'Lord, trouble brews in Crimmond. Hartman's words were were like nothing to Dreadfire as he relaxed within the stone cold walls of the Great Hall.
Damien paused from his laziness and looked over several reports that Hartman set on his desk, to which he looked upon them with some surprise.
Elven genocide eh? Seems Varchak has balls after all. Dreadfire scoffed quiety to himself. His eyes shifted across the papers one by one, before then tossing them in a heap on his desk. No worries, Varchak can obviously handle things if he's already wiping out entire species.
Hartman shrugged in agreement, only visibly concerned with what Damien thought. No worries Hartman, when Varchak sat at the head of Baggera, he was no slouch. I do not believe that the venom inside him is any less potent now that it was before. I'll keep a close eye on this matter, because I can already sense that someone out there is going to try and stop him...there always is. Have a fleet or two quietly slip away from port, a few ships at a time. I want to be ready to assist a fellow Gholgothian if need be.

Eight kills in a single night and four more kills out of circumstance. Fisk is absolutely furious."
"Let him be. He's still clinging to the hope that Delta is going to come back from the dead. And the Gray Haired Man, as he's known to the public, is quite efficient. Davion looked up. "What do you mean? How many do I want dead? Do I want to invade another nation? Do I want to nuke Roania?"
She shook her head. "How far do you want to go in making your point. The civils send a horrific message, yes.... but if you want to truely show your hatred.... we could use the Mind-Sifter."
"No. That I am going to use on someone else. A true enemy, not just some poor sap."

Ah. A nation that starts a statement with the backbone of warriors and ends it with the snivelling whimpers of politicians. What there is to investigate I don't have the faintest idea. What you saw in the news films is exactly what we are doing. Now... you must choose. Do you muster the backbone and the guts to send your armies to die, or are you just here to sling a little mud?
And as for my Viking friends... The Destroyer's words hold true, but in this case, I believe that I am in the wrong. I did not know you held yourselves in the same ranks as the Vikings and Beserkers of old. So I... appologize.

(To Crimmond)
From The Office of the High Guardian, Defender of the Empire:
Greetings Sir,
We have looked upon the situation unfolding in your nation with great interest. Your actions have been deemed as uncouth and brtish, lacking the restrained foresight a dictatorship requires in order to maintain power. Genocide shows the lowest sort of character. We ask that you refrain from these dishonourable actions, and show the sort of character you truly possess; as noble humanity and not rancid scum. If you be men, then you will prove it with your morals, not your birth.
Henceforth, the Enlightened Empire offers this ultimatum: You will cease all actions against this segment of your own populace, or blood will be shed decidedly NOT in your favor. While others may be content with mere words or paltry nods to civil rights, we are willing and able to back up our words with force. If you feel the need to resort to calling allies to shore up your feeble and decrepit regime, we will fight until the bodies climb to the heavens. We will not stand idly by as others may and watch this atrocity.
I trust you, sir, to be a man of reason. Stop this insanity and political fiasco, or prepare to draw blade in defense of whatever power you have garnered from your oppressed people. Your armies may be mighty, but Crownguard had endured the centuries, and will persevere with righteousness.
Strength, and Honour.

(To Tersanctus)
From The Office of the High Guardian, Defender of the Empire:
Greetings Brother Kotomari,
It seems that destiny has a very cruel outlook on our nations' fates. As the High Guardian, my responsibility is to the people of Crownguard and our closest ally, Tersanctus. Yet as the man, the man Xavier Delryn, I must follow the honourable course of action. There is no other recourse, as we cannot idly stand by while genocide is perpetrated. Alas, your allies seem to be at odds with the Empire and our shared view of honour.
Honour, my brother.. Honour defines all we do, sets us above the scum that inhabit the universe. It makes legends to strive for, and ideals to die for. It is ingrained in our blood and our steel. We ask you, as friends and family, to cease the madness of your ally in Crimmond. We cannot abide this dishonourable action, any more than we can abide dying without a fight. We ask that you meet us in conference as soon as is possible, for I fear that the skies look red from the streets of Gariland City. This will be a war that may destroy us as a nation, yet it is a conflict we cannot turn from. I beg of you, seek counsel in your allies, and stop the madness before it destroys us all.
I prepare now for war, my hand clutches Deathstroke in practiced form. I will wear armor once again, and the people will prepare for war. This may be our last gasp, brother, but we must all die for something we believe in. I, and Crownguard, choose honour. We can do no less. I cannot ask to invoke Handama Erista, but leave the decision to your conscience.
In Filial Love,
Xavier Delryn

At 1400 hours several AMF battlegroups steamed out of St. Freeksburg port, bound for the outermost Gholgoth waters nearest the territorial claims of Crimmond. The task force was lead by none other than General Brinks, the oldest Warchief in Automagfreek's military. Hundreds of attack vessels ranging from battleships, destroyers, subs, frigates, and the like made their way through the choppy waters towards their rallying point. Gholgoth and it's inhabitants were not to be fucked with on this day.
A second and much larger battlegroup was being prepped, and ships began to slip out of the Fort Brigg ports a few dozen at a time. This fleet was much larger, and rumor was beginning to surface that the Sentinel Superdreadnought would be going with them. This taskforce was overseen by Damien's right hand man, Zander. Going with him would be over a hundred thousand combat ready Sentinels and enough supplies to execute a long and strenuous campaign. Rumor was also going around that another 150,000 Sentinels were activated in the Fort Brigg area and were awaiting deployment.
The secure radio frequencies across Gholgoth came to life, and transmission began to pour out of Automagfreek and it's battle elements. Idle threats were not to be taken lightly, and it was obvious that the Freeks were up to something. The whole of Gholgoth had been raised in the afternoon hour, and Automagfreek was the first to react.

Brothers in arms,
I trust you all know the reason for my mobilization, and I ask you all to rally to the banner of Gholgoth. The Dying Ground is being openly challenged in our early hour, and it is my recommendation that we make an example out of these upstarts so that they permanently know their role. Soon the world will hear our voice and see the terrible resolve behind our words, and soon the fools that test our patience will see for themselves that Gholgoth and those that reside there will NOT bow to threats.
I have activated my forces and begun deployments accordingly. When a Gholgoth nation is threatened, we ALL are threatened. When a Gholgoth nation comes under attack, we ALL come under attack.
Let these craven fools Sleep Now In The Fire.

*Xaiver Delryn cleared his voice, slowly mounting the podium as the camera adjusted on the figure. Wearing an impeccably cut military uniform of black make, a green sash over his shoulder and silver epaulets, he looked regal and grim. He had right to be, for Crownguard had not seen war in some mesure of years, and yet honour dictated that something be done. He looked to the camera, broadcasting a message to the world, for those with the foresight to listen. In the background, soft military music plays as the High Guardian addresses the camera live.*
"Nations of the world, genocide is once again upon us. One of the most heinous of crimes, it is the execution of others not by justice, law, or any human failing. No, it is a crime based upon blood, the right of birth and being allowed to live. The nation of Crimmond has violated that right, the right to live that so many have strived for, bled for, fought for and died for. The rights that many here would take for granted, and look away with apathy.
The Enlightened Empire of Crownguard will not stand for this. This atrocity, this unconscionable act will not be allowed to fester and spread. This blight on the conduct of all civilized society is indicative of a greater threat, when life, ALL life, is measured as only resources to be bled. We have seen the horrors of war, we have struggled with maintaining our dignity in the face of despair. How much more terrifying then, that such an incident can occur without recourse?
There is a recourse, civilized beings of the worlds. There is a force for righteousness that burns, that eagerly seeks to take up the cause of the weak and fearful. It is to this force that Crownguard will pledge itself, its lifeblood founded in the ideals of duty and chivalry. Crimmond must not be allowed to perpetrate this act, or I, and my fellow countrypeople, shudder at the repurcussions in civilized society.
Who will stand up for justice? Who will nto hide behind the thin veneer of "national sovereignty" in order to protect those who cannot protect themselves? Who else will stand for dignity, for civilization, for honour? If we must, we will fight this fight alone, and die alone. If it must be, it must be. I ask though, that you consider my words this day. For barbarity unchecked is barbarity supported. We beg for peace, but are committed to war if it must be. We will not back down, nor will we be intimidated by the strength of Gholgoth. May the fates be kind to those who support idealism and benevolence, strength and honour.
I bid you good day."

For a time, no message came from Crimmond to anyone. That was allways a sign that there was something very inportant and very bad on the horizon.
Nearly four hours after the ultimatum, the military across the European lands of Crimmond are in full mobilization, the new Civils being deployed to all the border cities, along with Assault Marines. The Gholgoth garrison, charged with protecting the new province there, readies it's own defenses along the shoreline.
At sea, the Vladimir Carrier Group continued on it's normal patrols. They sent normal status reports but made no effort to race home. They were actually sailing away from Europe...
Varchak was befuddled by that decision. "General, I know you are the military man I am the bussiness man... but I don't think that sending away our only sea based air platform is a wise decision."
Marco looked up from the maps on the large desk. "Sir, look here... the only force that teh enemy can detect without rediculously sophisticated technology is the Vladimir."
"So?" Davion looked at the maps and still seemed uneasy.
The General just smiled. "Sir, a wise Chinese man once wrote 'If you are near the enemy, make him believe you are far from him. If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near.' That is exactly what I am doing. The Supremacy Class Submarine is the best defense force we have at sea. The two Domination class subs are out there too. Sir, we have over a thousand submarines. That is one of the largest, if not the largest submarine force in the world and is damn sure the largest proportionally..."
That got the Overlord's attention. "Sun Tzu... I read that many years ago. Something about 'If I determine the enemy's forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while they are fragmented.' That's what you're doing." He got a nod and Varchak smiles as the two left the room, for the conferance that was allready delayed twice.
---------
Varchak and General Marco stood side by side in front of the cameras, two Civils looming in the background, almost a head taller than each of them. Varchak spoke first. "The very first thing I'd like to express is my undying shock that a Roanian said that they support me in any way, shape or form. That is one for the history books... but I have more pressing matters to deal with at this moment. We have been sent a challenge. A challenge to cease and desist our culling or face war. I'm sorry, but I don't take kindly to threats. I have ordered the entirety of the Crimmond Marine Corps* to mobilize and be combat ready within the next 30 hours.
"The 'esteemed' leader of Crowngaurd hopes that the fates will favor his forces. I wouldn't put my money on a leader that prays to the fates for help. I much prefer relying on good old fashioned soldiers to save my nation from decimation." He turns to Marco. "Therefore, I'm going to do what allsmart politicians do. Let the Generals be Generals." He steps back.
Marco looked into the cameras. "I will persoanlly be coordinating the efforts of all three branches of the Corps, to maximize the impact of each on the enemy. With the support of the Freeks and the might of Gholgoth, I don't doubt the outcome of this war at all. The only doubt in my mind is about how many lives will be lost in winning it." His face grows harder. "To all soldiers in this war, be they of Gholgoth or of Crowngaurd and whatever allies they may summon... Fight like men. Die with honor."

[OOC: *The Crimmond Marine Corps encompasses what would be the Army, Navy, Marines and Airforce of the USA. This is the IC solution to the OOC problem of Future-Tech/Modern-Tech clashes. Therefore, unless someone else brings in a space fleet, mine will just kick back and make some popcorn.]
Above and beyond the vagaries of politics, there sits the Nine.
They didn't have names. They had titles, descriptions. Some of them might use a name in communication with the outside world. But no one, including probably the council itself, knew if that was their real name. The Prime Minister had nothing to do with this council. Nor did any of the cabinet.
Three seats were empty. The Prince was pursuing other goals. The Lover was on assignment. The Talon was destroyed, according to rumour at least. But the other six seats were occupied. "We shall issue instructions that war will be entered upon." The Warlord said, slowly.
"War brings prisoners. We can always use prisoners." replied the Seeker. "We consider the motion seconded." That was how they spoke. None of them could use the word I. The council was all that mattered.
"The council moves to notice that there has been a note of disapproval. War brings attention." countered The Deciever, from the voice revealed to be a woman beneath the cowled cloaks they wore. "The council must hold a vote."
"We find that the motion for a vote is seconded. Without the 1st Councillor independent action is dangerous. Consensus will be reached."
For a non-elected body, its proceedings were surprisingly democratic. 5 voted aye, 1 nay. "We note that the dissenting party, subject to the will of the majority, withdraws the dissent." she said, formally.
"Imperium Sine Fine. Live not for today, but always seek tomorrow. Inform Crimmond that we are pleased to offer them our services, Lord Seeker, as auxilaries."
"As the council commands, so will be done."
Crownguard
18-04-2005, 17:21
Within the depths of Crownguard, machines silent for several decades started to be reactivated as protocols put in place before the Time of Isolation were enacted. Reserves were drawn up, as each citizen had been indoctrinated since age 4 it was relatively easy to secure levies for the battle. With massive government funding (as well as a few key caches), it was also relatively easy to arm them in appropriate manner. There was still hope that the situation would be resolved, but war was an honourable endeavour This trend ran back from the days when the Empire had served as mercenary forces in events all over the world, such as in Dyelli Beybi the lands of sand, and Communist Rule in the far east. The land itself seemed riddled with supply depots, as Crownguard had faced frequent scrutiny for its method of governance, and was prepared to fight to the death.
Unfortunately, Crownguard was not preparing solely for convential attack, as the enemies it had gathered in this seemed legion. Bunkers were staffed along the shores, as silos remained on perpetual standby for launch. Being out of UN control had its advantages, and each silo was prepared to rain nuclear death on any enemy foolish enough to launch an invasion. In addition, several flights of stratofighters would be on reserve for the telling blow.
"High Guardian." A voice whispered, deep within the recesses of Central Command.
"Yes, General Alibakkar. I understand you have been pulled out retirement, for that you have my apologies. Unfortunately, I do not have the fullest faith in all of our officer corps experience as much as I trust your own. I want a rapid mobilization of the reserve component, and I want each man, woman and child to be given their requisite rifle and vibroblade. The Vaults have been opened."
There was a murmured rustle of suprise in the room, and High Guardian Delryn wearily surveyed the opinion.
"Yes, the Vaults are open, in preparation for unconventional attack, should it come to that. Echo Mirage has reports of a carrier platform moving out to sea. This is unfathomable, but it still puts aircrat in range of our coastal cities. This cannot be allowed, I want to see that platform a floating wreck in the opening salvo. The Royal Air Force will be placed on standby, and destroyers and Hunter-Killers stationed along our borders. Unfortunately, it will be a war of attrition, as whatever strike we launch will be met with massive reprisal. I have little doubt we can seize Target Objective One with the first strike, but we must make the attempt. The Sunbusts should serve admirably to neutralize most vessels without serious incident, but under the water is where the threat will lie. I don't our friends remember the Sunbursts, save perhaps Tersanctus. I know not where they will lie on this."
He settled down into a chair, laying out the intelligence reports on the table.
"First, I want options regarded a targeted 'problemsolving' strike. MinIntel, I trust you can give me viable options within 24 hours?"
MinIntel, one of the second generation cybernetically enhanced nodded to the High Guardian, rapid calculations flitting about inside his enhanced brain.
"Echo Mirage will be ready, Lord High Guardian"
**Another press conference was held, this time the crowd gathered was noticeably more subdued than before.**
"Crimmond has grown complacent, its militaries still bloody from illegitimate civil war. We have stood the test of time, as none have ever had the audacity to set foot on our lands. Woe be the rools who presume to do so. Unfortunately, Crimmond has not read its history books, or else the machinations of its intelligence services are flawed if they think this fight will end in victory. There is no victory in opposing the righteous. It is in this spirit that General Alibakkar has come from retirement to assist in this great struggle, this war for liberation that must be enacted. General?"
A grim faced man took the stage, a scar on his cheek readily apparent as his skin seemed to be pure leather.
"My Lord High Guardian, esteemed peoples of the world. Mobilization has been enacted as per Royal Directive 3.2. The Royal Army Dragoons, the Air Force, Navy, and Marines have been called to duty, as have auxiliary soldiers. Verchak speaks of fighting and dying with honour. There is no honour in their actions, nor does his huddling behind his allies show the sort of honour he seeks to parody. Regardless, we will not back down from this, not till Verchak sees the devastation that Crownguard has been holding in wait. He gloats with his actions, his Civils tearing through his streets with impunity."
*He looked angered, pounding the desk.* "No more! No more will such a travesty be flaunted in the faces of the nations of the world. Our combat ready Dragoons are eager to stain steel and stone with the blood of the unclean oppression. If Verchak thinks this fight will be limited to his warped conjectures, he is sorely mistaken. I assure you, we are prepared to fight as long as necessary with any means neccessary to restore order to this wayward nation. A nation held in the grip of a tyrant. Our people are ready, our soldiers our ready. All are ready to fight to the death in this struggle for liberty. The question will remain whether Verchak can say the same of his forces, using his Civils to quell dissent. They have become fat on the blood of the innocent, and it is time to ease their going, along with their despot leader.
They speak of the fates as weakness, their arrogance astounding in the face of their flaunted crime, yet they rely on biological freaks as their vanguard to protect their rule. *He chuckled slightly, shaking his head.* We shall see who is the victor in the days to come. Verchak has 24 hours to cease this genocide, before the war begins. He would do well to pray to those fates he derides for mercy in the face of this coming conflict."

[OOC: Normally I would insist that this stay nuclear free... but for some reason I'm not quite sure about, I havbe no real objection to it.]
The carrier was soon out of range of Crimmond Airspace, continuing to cruise south, only one aircraft overhead at a time. This seeming breech of all sanity was, of course, all ordered by General Marco, who was currently contacting all his Commanding Officers in the field, issuing orders to expect a large scale invasion, despite the words of the enemy. He also sent word of his thanks to the Roanians, but declined to let them into the nation without a fight. His exact words were "What incentive do you have to come to Crimmond, a nation whose bi-centenial plan is to finally get out of these damned caves? Sorry... you want into Crimmond, you're going to have to try to come in with the enemy."
He, personally, had no incentive to even consider an invasion of Crowngaurd. Crimmond was not in any real shape to support such an operation and defend the Empire at the same time. He thought that best left to the rest of Gholgoth.
In the field General Meridius stood by a Swarm Anti-Missile Battery as he isued orders to four other generals, modifying troop deployments to create thousands of overlapping fire points on the coast and create millions of booby traps along the border, incase they decided to come from a less protected front.
Varchak and most of his advisors were taken to a facility in what was once Baggera, one Davion had designed himself. Sealed from teh horrors of any nuclear or biochem attack, with enough food for three times the people with him. A half squad of civils and a half squad of Assault Marines was also with them, prowling the corridors as the group set up their hidden operation, intending to monitor the war only, not direct it. Davion wasn't a coward, but he was damn sure no fool.

OOC: Was I implying you were a n00b? No, therefore the assumption isn't appreciated. Nukes have a history of causing RP's to degenerate, hence why I (and many other RPers) cringe at the thought of nuke chucking.
Using nukes is fine, I still have an arsenal of HOUND V2's (which ARE designed to lay waste to much more than just cities) that I've been itching to launch if the scenario presented itself....although I personally despise the use of nuclear weapons.
OOC: Nukes? This is a case of M.A.D. I'd advise all involved to play their nuclear bluffs, but bluff only. Aside from the use of nuclear weapons, or any WMD's for that matter, causing the deterioration of RP's, there is the IC problems that go along with it. Almost twice as large as Crownguard, Pantera has long maintained and added to it's nuclear arsenal, and has no qualms about wiping someone out. And I'm sure most, if not all, of Gholgath is likewise armed and ready. I assume Crown and his allies feel the same way, so, for the sake all concerned, I'd advise OOC restraint there.
But, I'm along for the ride. Nuke away, if that's what turns you on.

*flutters eye lashes*
but I feel that I should point out the obviously silly mistake that your information department has made.
Perhaps a little smack on the hand is needed as they obviously do not know what a Valkyrja is.
Please allow me in my humblest and most sweetest manner correct the statement you made to me.
Herself, My dearest Lord Damien, I am, in your words, an upstart such as yourself cannot keep snide comments to HERSELF.
And I do not bark, or bite, I leave that to my lycanthropic friends.
Here dearest, have some honey, I am sure that will be sweet enough for even your sour tongue.

OOC: Crimmond, you misunderstand. I didn't offer to defend you, I offered to attack Crownguard. And I'm perfectly willing to allow nukes to be aimed at me, provided he realises I have much, much, much worse up my sleeves than simple death.

Huh!
Why do you have a mind to join them Emperor Josef?

Uh, this is not Emperor Josef. This is Grand Prince Richard, Josef dissappeared. Anyways, no, we do not wish to join them. We are curious as to rather we will have yet another foe to battle.

Josef dissappeared?
How is that so?
(And I am relieved that is the reason for asking this question Prince Richard)

The Imperial Library in Skye, the storage facilty for 90% of the nations original written knowledge(ooc: though not the electronic and printed copies) was rocked by a tremendous explosion. The entire north face of the building ceased to exist in a span of a few seconds, starting a deadly blaze which caused the destruction of a third of the library and killed approximately 300 people.
One hour later, two other explosions went off similtaniously in the city, taking out the Plamsa Pyramid. This structure serves as both art and a cooling zone for plasma in Skye's backup powerplant. This sudden release of plasma triggared automatic seals that closed off that section of the city, locked down the reactor and shut it down within five minutes. The size of the explosions and the release of plasma decimated that area of the city. It is unclear of the possible death toll, but there are nearly five thousand people in the sealed areas of the capital.
The Imperial Inquisition has not stated who caused the explosions, but has admitted it is most likely the work of non-human terrorists, trying to disrupt the capital and possibly draw more forces into the cities and away from teh borders, where troops wait for invasion.

Genocide. Just the mere thought of it made him cringe. However, Roman Emperor Rodin Hartian was not about to let the actions of what he'd call absent-minded nation bother him.
"The Crimmondians. I've heard a lot about them," said Hartian to himself as soon as he saw the broadcast. "They always like to make a show of everything- sooner or later they'll pay for it." He sighed. "The extent some people go to."
An hour later, Hartian received a phone call. It was his Consul Extraterritorials (OOC: UN Delegate) Furitina Millenia, telling him that a Pretenama Panel had just been formed and that Rome, being a founding member, was needed. He cringed again. "Why did I join that blasted commitee? I thought the UN was supposed to keep out of non-members' business," he again said to himself.
Then he remembered. "Ah yes, because the people would look unfavourably on me for it. We can't be seen as not taking a stand in world affairs."
He then asked Millenia what was needed of him. "They need you to select a chairperson," she said. "What is the list?" he replied. She gave him the list, to which he quickly responded, "Ecopoeia. They are the largest of the nations there. TPP will be needing all the help it can get." Especially considering the only part of his nation bound to help in TPP- a three-person puppet state called, fittingly, "The Roman UN Puppet"- can only really provide token support. His overall state was not bound to provide any kind of military support.
He then got on his computer and decided to issue another statement, this time directed at Crimmond. He knew there was probably only a snail's chance at avoiding war, but it was a chance he was going to take.
[b]******Official Communique From The Roman Government******
To: Overlord Varchak of Crimmond
Re: Genocide
While we personally find it appalling that genocide is occuring in the grand nation of Crimmond, we are willing to do what it takes to avoid an armed conflict. We are prepared to offer almost anything so that the innocent lives of the Elves can be spared- be it we take all of them, monetary costs, etc. We are aware that our position in the UN makes it appear that we have already taken up an opposing side with you, but our nation within The Pretenama Panel cannot do anything except provide verbal support, as it lacks an army or any kind of money at all (it is only a three-person state). Our *official* position is one of non-intervention except peacefully, which what we are trying to do now. We do not see the purpose of risking a potentially damaging war for you or for anyone else and hope you make the right decision.
Signed,
Rodin Hartian,
293rd Emperor of Rome

No response came from Varchak, for his was holed up in his bunker. He knew he was a target if war broke out with Crowngaurd. To broadcast where he was... no. best to let his government follow the contingency plans he had set up for this situation. He knew what was going on, but they were left under Oran and Kamara's joint command.
Oran read the message, then the reports of the death tolls. Final total was 457 dead in the library attack and peliminary was nearly double that for the Plasma Pyramid...
The Overlord is unavailible at this time, being in a secure location. He is far too important to this nation to let him be exposed to attack at this time. As to your request about the operation.... the Empire weighed the costs of deportation to culling. In the end, deportation proved to be the more expensive of the two. I understand your protests against these acts. Unfortunatly... we were ebtting that your type of response would be the strongest we would recieve. War isn't cheap. In terms of money or lives...
And with these terror tactics... it seems we rolled snake eyes when it comes to the budget.

Two thousand dead in the terrorist bombing of the Plasma Pyramid. One of the worst attacks in Crimmond's history, surpassed only by the four nuclear explosions that destroyed Prauge and the three dirty bombs that decimated Minsk.
In response, the Imperial Inquisition has deployed it's own forces to all major cities and camps. The capture and execution of non-humans has increased dramaticly over the past few hours, as black cloaked figures replace the blood soaked Civils. Some don't know which are worse, as the Inquisitors are just as merciless in their work as the Civils and the Inquisition is known for their unspeakable treatment of prisoners. Death fighting them seems preferable than torture in their hands.
Internationally, the Soviets have joined the nations condemning the Cleansing and are threatening to supprot the invasion of the Empire. Riok Oran has left the Empire for negotiations with Crowngaurd. Some wonder if he really wished this to end peacefully or if this is just to delay the inevitablity of war for a few more days, giving the Marines more time to dig in for the invasion. Either way, the enemies of Gholgoth will be stopped.

A new video was released from inside Crimmond and sent to all the networks. The aftermath of the terrorist bombings was being cleared. Gunfights in the streets faded into memory. Police began policing again, the Military Police packing up. A few Civils were seen, but only in trucks headed for the borders. People roamed the streets again. Human people.
The announcer sounded like something right out of a World War II Nazi Propoganda film. The non-humans were gone from the rest of society. Though they still remained in the Marine Corps and Navy... those were the most loyal of non-humans. Those were the only ones spared. After a few minutes, the video switched to Kamara and Byron Fisk, who were leading the nation while Varchak was in hiding and Oran out of the nation.
Kamara spoke first. "As of three hours ago, the operation to Cleanse teh Empire was declared sucessful and was terminated. There are less than five thousand non-humans in the Empire at this time, all serving in the ICMC or Navy. They will not be killed, as they were the truely loyal non-humans in the Empire and now are the only ones." A glance at the giant of a man beside her, who started to speak.
"The culling is over. The terrorists have been killed and the Empire is clean. More importantly, we have beaten the clock, as it were. You see... the enemies of the Empire wanted to evacuate the disloyal non-humans and our loyal ones." He looked disgusted. "That has never been done. And now Crimmond's society is wholey human. It's military predomanantly human. Now.... those enemies have no one to save when they invade. They have no moral anchor to this war. So now... I'm calling for the immediate standdown of ALL hostilities against the Empire, as they've lost this war before it began..."
