Badlands, Doom Prime

Of what little is known of the scorching hot world of Doom Prime, it is that the world, although it is, in a sense, a physical Hell, actualy has a section of the world referred to the locals as the badlands. This area of the planet is the hottest area on the whole godforsaken world. This is due to the world's odd orbit around the system's sun, which brings that area closest every cycle. As a result, it is difficult, even for the near-demonic Doomans to live on.

However, what most do not know of this cursed place is that a temple resides there. It is said to be the to have been the first to Convert a human. The temple, Barad'Ur, lies nestled in the mountainous area of the badlands, within the hills, and is difficult to reach without air transport.

As one approaches the temple, one is greeted by two tall ancient statues standing gaurd at the entrance, which sits above a large flight of stairs. There are foul runes intricately carved at the entrance, warning those who refuse to convert to stay away from the cursed place. Once through the two massive stone doors that stand in the entrance, you can immediatly sense a dark presense. Hanging from the cieling are the ancient, decayed skeletons of heretics and infidels, still looking as if they suffered from the horrible tortures inflicted upon them within the bowels of the temple. The hallway you immediatly enter in is long and with a high cieling, which is held up by ancient statues. Standing along the sides of the hall are more statues, holding massive torches to give a bit of light. The air stinks of death.

Further down is a massive entrance to yet another room. Once through the entrance, you must decend a set of long stairs which gradualy widen, revealing the sheer massiveness of the place.

This is the area where the most important ritual in the Dooman religion occurs: conversion.

Along the high walls are millions of stone coffins, carved into with evil runes. At the top of the cieling is an ancient robotic arm that would be used to shuttle the coffins back and forth. At the far end of the chamber is an alter-like structure, actualy housing a several hundred thousand year-old control console that controls the vast, intricate system. The chamber is lit by three massive fires hanging from chains from the cieling. However, by now you could see the place is not completely dead.

Standing like statues in tiny slits in the walls are hunrdeds of thousands Doom Templars, guardians of the Temple. They are among the elite in the Army of Doom, wearing centuries old power armor painted bright red with the very blood of their kills.

Those weren't the only living creatures within the Temple. Several servants of Chaos had made pilgramage to the Temple. They had a plan. They were to create the ultimate killing machine within these ancient walls. Accompanied by a High Doom Praetor, Lord Skorm, they would attempt what was previously thought to be insane: they were going to attempt to convert a minion of Chaos.

The High Lord of Chronosia; Abraxas the Foul, had brought with him from ancient and hallowed Chronosia, to the halls of these men of Doom; four subjects, ready to have their powers twisted and amplified by the Conversion process. A Noise Marine; his synaptic enhancers blazing with light and sensation; a Plague Marine, whos deterioration was both divine and terrible; a Berzerker; who held within him fury borne of Khorne himself; And a Sorceror of Tzeentch, whose power was terrifying and amazing to behold. These would be made divine, these would be made of the True Race; these would be glorious followers of Chaos; and their power would be spread throughout the genetic stock of Dooman.

Skorm sat at the altar surveying the four chosen to be converted. He motioned for a Priest to activate the temple. The console whirred to life and the massive robotic arm creaked and clanked as it began to move for the first time in over one thousand years.

"Brothers," began Skorm in a solemn tone, causing the air around him to become superheated as he spoke, "You have been chosen for a great honor. You will become more powerfull than any of you could possibly imagine with your conversion to the True Race. Not only that, your passage to Necroverse will be assured." he said with a smile, staring into the fouls creatures' eyes with his own firey red eyes.

He stood, the very ground beneath his feet sizzling and burning. By now the robotic arm had retrieved four of the stone coffins from the cieling. The heavy doors swung open, revealing the insides of the capsules. There was an imprint of the last creature to be converted within it, nothing else.

"Brothers, your journey begins now."

The Four went willingly; whispering prayers to the great Dark Ones; displaying their devotion, even as they were enveloped in the dark of the coffins; even as they were entombed.

"Let it begin" Abraxus whispered; eyes raising to meet those of his Dooman counterpart. "Let them, one and all, be made glorious." He strode forward. "With the combination of our technologies, military, genetic and design; we shall make a glorious war, a long war; to sunder those who oppose us. None shall stand before us..."

"So be it..." replied Skorm, motioning for the Priest to begin the process. The robotic arms raised the faithfull high into the foul temple air and inserted the coffins into the temple wall. All of a sudden, the chamber went dark and red light streamed from the runes of four pods.

However, something that doesn't normally occur in conversion happened, or, rather, didn't happen: there was no screaming coming from coffins. The Chaos minions willingly accepted their new Race...

OOC:Yup, loved that game. My Skorm's just a super powerful example of a Dooman, I just thought it to be a cool sounding name at the time (since I was only about half way through Fable at the time).

Abraxus looked skyward; chuckling lightly as the process was enacted.
"And they shall know no fear" he smirked. "Our Marines are made of hardy stuff; more independant and more modified than Republic clones; more....gifted by the Gods, are they. I understand the effort for Kaminos goes well. An army of Converts, glorious in depravity; shall soon be ours."

*On board the Kalda-class Patrol Vessel "Amalda,"*

"Sir, unusual readings detected on Doom Prime" said Technician Kev.

"That barren hellhole? Maintain geosynchronous orbit and continue monitoring"- replied Captain Montu. What could be going on that wasteland?

"Indeed, brother. Come, now. The conversion process shall take three months. For now, you shall stay as an honored guest here on our glorious capital." he said, turning, his black cape fluttering behind him, and walking towards the entrance to the chamber.

All that they could do now was wait for the results of their forbidden experiment...

In Orbit of Doom Prime

The entrance of the Zatarack vessel into arguably one of ther most heavily defended systems in the galaxy certainly didn't go unnoticed. As Doom Prime was the capital of the Dooman Empire, it certainly had formidable defenses. The first of these to be activated was an FTL inhibitor to prevent the ship from escaping.

Once that went online, twenty destroyers and cruisers quickly moved to surround the ship while orbital weapons platforms came online.

Finally, a transmission was sent.

"Attention unidentified vessel, power down your shields and engines and prepare to be boarded." came a gruff voice from one of the ships.

Three Months Later...

The men had reassembled in the grand chamber and prepared to witness their latest creations spawn from their coffins. A priest at the altar hit a few keys on the command console, causing the robotic arm mounted on the cieling of the vast chamber to creak to life once more. It automatically retrieved the four coffins inhabitted by the chaos minions, bringing them down to the ground and standing them up straight. Skorm stood at their side.

"Brothers, prepare to witness true power." he said with a smirk, motioning to the priest.

Suddenly, the coffin lids lifted slightly, spilling a red, firey liquid onto the ground, which spilled into grooves on the ground. As the liquid flowed through the grooves, they filled ancient runes along the temple foor. Finnaly, the lids of the coffins began to open completely...

The Marines had been transfigured; transformed, made from teh clay of humanity into something more, something pure, true, Divine...
They stepped forward; their natural gifts assimilated into the Dooman phsiology; clawed and fanged, their eyes burning with a fury, especially in that which once had worshipped Khorne; its mass increased; its hunger sharped. The others stood; mighty and proud, the Sorceror burning with warp energies, the servant of Nurgle wreathed in disease yet showing none of the rot that cursed his Space Marine Brethern; and the Slaanesh worshipper had a sleek body and curved talons, more than a match for his stimulation enhanced mind.

Skorm looked upon the new Children of Doom with glee. The first stage of the experiment was now complete. All information regarding the phisiology of these new creatures had been recorded in the conversion process. Now stage two would begin.

One Month Later

A dark, hooded figure entered the now crowded chamber, walking in between rows upon rows of bowing Doom Templars. As he approached the altar, he removed his hood, revealing his pale white face. He was human, a willing convert, quite a rarity among his people. He had been granted the honor of being the first convert to recieve the latest and most pure conversion. He had abandoned his old name, chosing instead to receive a new one upon the completion of his great journey. The massive robotic arm lowered one of the stone coffins, and he eagerly stepped inside. Skorm nodded to the priest, and the lid sealed shut, entombing him.

"Now we wait..."

Three Months Later

Once again, the stone coffin was lowered to the ground, the lid lifted slightly, spilling a red, firey liquid onto the ground, which spilled into grooves on the ground. As the liquid flowed through the grooves, they filled ancient runes along the temple foor. Finnaly, the lid of the coffin swung open. A black, clawed hand reached out, pulling the dark creature out. The facial features were similar to the creature that had entered, but was now a shiny black color, looking like a hard shell of some sort, with firey red eyes, reminiscent of the being that worshiped Khorne. Standing at 7"5, it looked quite strong, crackling with the very energy of the warp, yet wreaking of disease. It had features of all four of the Chaos minions: The strength of the beserker, the cunning, agility, and sonic powers of the Slaanesh worshipper, the powers of the Sorceror, and the horrible disease of the Plague Marine. It was truley a gifted being.

"Behold, Azaroth, Arbiter of Doom. He is the first of what is to be the bane of Humanity and the savior of the galaxy."
