Philadelphia, PA, RSA (RSBC)-

Today, President Featherston has announced that due to the failure of Papua New Guinea to repay its debts and due to the ongoing instability in the area, the Reunited States Military will intervene to ensure domestic stability.

"Papua New Guinea is currently suffering.....its leaders have mismanaged he economy, the country is poor.......they owe us money. Since the leaders cannot keep the country stable, we're going in to help them out with their debts and internal economy, even if it requires the RS Marines to do it."

As he spoke, a force of 50,000 Shin-Nihon National Guardsmen, 60,000 PA National Guardsmen, and 50,000 regular Army Airborne and 15,000 Marines joined with the Shin-Nihon Naval Fleet to launch "Operation Mayflower," the "debt reconstruction/internal stabilization effort." Protestors lined up to complain in Philadelphia, but were dispersed using live ammo and limited casualties.

As of 8:00PM EDT, it was reported that Tomahawk and Paratrooper assaults commenced on Port Moresby, and landings occured on other places on the southern coast of Papua New Guinea. The local forces, though not caught by surprise, are expected to be driven out of Port Moresby in several days.

Port Moresby soon fell to the Combine/RSA forces.....now, they began to move into the countryside, launching attacks on Kikori, Kaintiba, and Kokoda, in the same trails the Aussies had engaged the Japanese years ago.

They knew the risks. Papua New Guinea was nothing but jungle-nigh near impossible to fight in, unless you were real careful.

Indeed, the government fled into the jungles, and began active resistance, burning crops and launching raids. However, the RSA was prepared for this, and began a campaign to fortify any villages they found. They didn't do relocations, but they did begin active patrols, using Predator UAV's and Infantry platoons, aided by aircraft. The result was several major battles in the countryside near the Fly River and in other places, as RSA forces attacked and alternatively got ambushed by the New Guineans.

Meanwhile, those forces in Moresby and on the south coasts began to sieze control of the New Guinean customshouses and ports, plus any airports, banks, and computer hubs they found. They were going to do what TR did in the Dominican Republic in the early 1900's- establish economic recievership over New Guinea.

They also moved to make a new constitution. They moved to model it on Enlightened Democratic ideals, and added in a Platt Amendment-style clause mandating that New Guinea only join the CES and work only with the RSA.

The New Guineans would have to ratify it at gunpoint- the RSA was entrenching its ranks and moving to fight the guerillas in an extended war. This time, the goal was to actually not wear them down, but to secure villages and towns, and drive them out from any areas where they could get resources.
