[Press Conference in the Republican Palace]

Harc walks up to his podium. He sets down a small stack of papers and clears his throat.

"Greetings, members of the Neonic and international press. I have the pleasure of telling you that the Neonic Senate has established marriage as the union between a man and a woman. This means anyone wishing to marry a member of the same sex is now an illegal activity.

Now, before anyone asks how this is even fair fo rthe homosexuals, I would like to say that this bill only said they could not be MARRIED, which is the unting of two persons by the church, recognized by the Holy Military Republic. Another bill is being drafted to create Civil Unions, that, while lacking the full benefits of a heteorosexual couple, will give some legal benefits to a homosexual couple.

The Neonic Orthodox Church of Christ is happy to see that it's wishes have been carried out. They have no problem having homosexuals united in legal terms, just not in religious ones.

The bill is part of a 5-bill series that is defining marriage. Already one, making Adultery illegal, has been passed, alongside the Banning of Gay marriage.

I will now take questions."

A jounalist from New Exodus News raised his hand.

"Where can we get information on all five bills? Are these two only the first?"

"Well, the third is the Civil Unions. The 4th will be a complete list of offenses that one can commit in marriage, such as spousal rape or abuse. The 5th is more like a compilation that will contain the other 4 in it, all revised and will include anything the first 4 missed."

Why should this even be newsworthy?

Surely it's no surprise that a militaristic state would ban gay marriage. I'd be more surprised if they'd banned sodomy. We know what goes on after hours in those barracks....

He lets out a chuckle.

The government of Krioval is hardly surprised that backward countries continue to find completely unoriginal ways to repress their citizens. We are forced to wonder if said nations feel justified because of a mistranslated collection of ancient stories, and if so, how said nations ever made it into the Age of Technology to begin with? Krioval further welcomes any citizens from any country in which their marriage is not recognized for silly reasons. We'd say more, but honestly, it's tough to actually write a communique for every time this happens and stay awake.

I see, Lord Harc. So, in essence, you're trying to assert your nation's perceived religious superiority? Well, I'm all for that. Nothing worse than stagnancy. Now then, will the remainder of your legislation, if that's what you call such a dictum, include specific acts that are legal? Will it then be subject to amendment or other adjustments should a certain behaviour be deemed either within or without the letter of these laws? In short, does this declaration allow for possible changes?

OOC: Ok, I said sorry above, but I want to add something. I'm using such a cop-out topic because I'm doing something different then normal, and I really want to see just what the reaction would be. I'm an old RPer from 2003 (look at my founding and population), and I've taken a long break. Now, I'm trying to see just what the '05 community is like by testing them.

Most of these topics are about Gays being deported or killed or the such. All I've done is defined a word. Tommarrow, I will talk about the Civil Unions (even though for me, in 10 minutes it's going to be the 10th)

It realy is no surprise that the Military States and Religious Nations take trivial matters like this to heart and do what they can to bring it down.

This does not shake the Corporation up in the slighest. We honestly dont care, and think Religon as a whole is stupid. There is no God, the only thing close are the Rich. And that, Neo Earth, are what we are full of.

You take one immoral act( if you are truely Christian you're with me on this ) such as homosexuality, make it an acceptable practice, and bad BAD things happen in the near future. History doesn't lie. Sure there was crime before, but is was NOTHING like it is today.

We are shocked to see that many countries in the world are finding that to allow homosexual marriages is the equivalent of dropping a bomb on their own capital. How is allowing ones country to think in a wider spectrum cause it to fall into moral degeneracy and perversion? We, of the Moepoeian republic, see that this is a sign of religion taking placement over the views of the people. Therefore, officially, the Moepoeian government is against these bills but is willing to see that the other soon to be issued bills state.

my nation's opposition to homosexuality does not come from a religious source, mine is a secular state.
