MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENCE PRESS RELEASE

The Ministry of National Defence is pleased to announce the completion of CFS Intrepid, the first of the Intrepid class of nuclear ballistic missile submarines.

The completion of Intrepid marks the beginning of a new era for the Canadian Navy, as this is the first nuclear-capable ship that has ever been constructed in Canada.

Like our recent Valiant class SSN, the Intrepid incorporates MHD technology to ensure stealth and secrecy, and is fitted out with the most advanced software available to Canada.

The sub is estimated to cost $6.5 billion per unit, with the whole programme costing the government over $475 billion.
