Central Command, The Incorporated States of Su^Diablo

Light footsteps could be heard, as an echo through the halls of Central Command. Having being independant from the ancients for some time now, the people and government had simply been silent in all ways, when it came to international politics at least. Sitting and watching, they had simply spent the time that many had engaged in diplomacy, simply to understand the world around them. Before their entrance, it would be ultimately important that these men, at the helm of Command, knew the political games their neighbours appeared to play. And of all of possibly thousands of voices which could be heard and seen, one in particular could be heared above the rest, and noticed. Hogsweat it seemed, was a voice of darkness, madness, yet of authority.

Such a Socialist Empire had the power the back what they had stated, and such an Empire possibilly had the ability in particular, to fend off any aggressor who came along for a battle or two. And although a jointly commanded operation would most probably knock out any defense they had against an attack of larger scale, not one had arisen as yet to challenge the man who already seemed to consider himself a God of sorts. Claiming to be all-knowing, and all-powerful was such a mighty claim indeed, and one that deserved a challenge. And although the Incorporated States were no match by far, at least it would create some trouble for the men who loved to kill. Blood would be drawn on this soil, and hopefully, those with the thirst of blood, of gore, and of battle would concede defeat in a world where men fought to the last.

Soon, the challenge would be set, on visually displayed image, openly broadcasted across the spectrum.

##### Just A Few Hours Later #####

"Since the dawn of humankind each man alike and unalike has frowned upon the senseless acts of violence one can use upon another, particularly when that of whom has not the capability to defend one's self. And this has proven to be strong, even in the greatest and smallest of religions, and in the general humanitarian laws of society time and time again. One must always be aware of the famous saying, 'Never kick a man while he is down'. It must be noted friends, that such a saying can be related to the dismay one can feel when the strong prey on the weak and unarmed. Those without the fists to fight, ought not be forced to fight. And yet one name stands among us who breaks such an important moral code.

I am under the strong belief friends, that Comrade Josef Dorsal of the Soviet Socialist Union of Hogsweat, has by far ignored such important codes of practise. And I fear that set unchallenged, this nation which has broken these codes time and time again, will strike into the heart of those upholding the unwritten laws of man, those who adhere to the beautiful freedoms of truth, liberty, and freedom itself. Friends, it is time that someone dared to challenge the strong and mighty who oppress those around them. And as of this moment, you may consider this message of hope, of honor, and of a cry to the Gods of peace and fairness. I have dedictated this nation, the Incorporated States of Su^Diablo to leading the leagues into the hearts of senseless killers.

Alone or not, I will form this campaign, so that in future not one of you must face such a pig as Josef Dorsal on the field. And I do encourage you to join me in my quest of conquering the great, so that the smaller and greater do not have to suffer. Friends I cry, enough bloodshed has been spent on the beast that I call Hogsweat, the one who does not listen to reason, to dignity, and to the tears of humanity. And if you do not, I only ask of your moral support, for the battles will be long, dark and blood-stained. For during the time of shed, times which had once been of peace will be stalked by the constant and perpertual feeling of hopelessness. For now, we are alone.

In the Name of Eternal Peace and Justice I Call You Friend."

...

President SuKailan took deeply, the oxygen around him. He had officially just committed his nation to war. And since his resources were so small and limited, he could only pray to the Gods that he would have their favour. For it would take much more than a miracle to defeat the forces, of which at the helm of command sat a man by the name of Josef. Perhaps if he was lucky, he would. And even that was doubtful. Nevertheless, he was committed, and for at least a few weeks now, the military forces he had gathered and formed under his own command had known that such a plan was in motion. If they were ever as ready as now, at least he could pray for due timing to come to this place.

TAG, and also a warning. You are a tiny, newbie nation, and cannot hope to take on the might of Hogsweat. Your armed forces are tiny, and would be crushed by even a small part of the Hogsweatian military, not to mention this Republic's military which would attack any invasion of Hogsweat.

Why are you doing this?

Central Command, the Incorporated States of Su^Diablo

Having been a place where the nation had been governed by a method of peace, Central Command had somewhat been changed. Art, which was previously kept upon the walls for decoration, had been removed already, and replaced with a series of high-tech electronic equipment, and national flags of all kinds. Furniture had been removed and new types had been moved in to accomodate for new uses. And now the floors which had once been empty of even the presense of one had been completely transformed into a hive of activity. Men and women didnt sleep, for the entire nation had been placed into a state of overtime.

Manufacturing plants had been ordered to produce a given amount of weaponry and ammunition, for if the quota wasnt met then they would be closed. And government financial experts had taken loans from all national banks, giving at least the military enough funds to draw from for quite some time. If there ever was a transformation, it was that of the Incorporated States of Su^Diablo. They had a great enemy to fight, and in order to even provide the smallest amount of force to deal with, the nation would have to run three times the state of overtime. Of course, this couldnt quite happen, but at least what had once been a hive of peaceful activity, anyone found on the streets not contrinuting to some way shape or form were fined with the maximum penalty.

And in the meantime, Generals and Advisors alike met in secret, and with each other to discuss battleplans to bring down the Socialist Giant. Perhaps they couldnt destroy the entirety of Hogsweat, but at least they would make for minor disturbance to the lives of each and every citizen. At least hopefully then, they would pay attention to the activities of their leader, who was indeed quite the madman. And over Haven.

Somewhere, Just North of Haven.

In perfect formation they flew, like the eagles they had designed to become. One couldnt say there were too many of them, probably about fourty or fifty at the most. But one could also say there were many, according to the abilities that these craft had. They flew not just in the atmosphere, but also in the upper reaches if stratosphere also, meaning that they were far too high for the anti-aircraft systems to gauge. And even if they had noticed, there was little they could do. Soon, violence would come to Hogsweat, and this would become one neat package to set off the conflict which the President had imagined.

His Imperial Majesty's Government questions the sanity of your leader, claiming to defend "freedom" whilst aligning itself with a large Bloc of autocratic states which enjoy boasting of their latest pointless executions. Whilst Hogsweat's recent actions against the embassies of several nations most certainly did not go any way to aiding his and our cause, it certainly pales in comparison to the kind of genocide that the states you support have purpetrated.

"Some nations clearly have much better intelligence and political analysts than others, but the ineptitude of Su^Diablo pales in comparison to the worst we have seen in the past. Supporting a strong coalition of dictatorships which has threatened the use of nuclear weapons against those nations that condemn the ruthless crimes they have committed against a coalition of funcitioning democracies, however, trancends ignorance and stupidity. Su^Diablo will not[ commit the promised acts of wanton aggression and warmongering against Hogsweat and her allies, or Su^Diablo we shall be forced to deploy "peacekeepers" to said nation, possibly from a fleet of several hundred ships, supported by thousands of bombers and backed by some of the most advanced military hardware currently in existance.

The Liberate government is prepared to offer immediate logistical support to your nation. Currently we are involved in armed conflict with two nations, but this situation is forseen to be resolved shortly. Perhaps the greatest gift we have for you as of right now aside from basic supplies is fifty of our new codename: "Swordfish" Anti-ship, plasma charged missles. These missles are capable of destroying a SuperCarrier in a single blow. These new weapons are capable of avoiding enemy AA fire by after being fired from their aircraft, they quickly descend beneath the waves and strike a ship below the waterline for an almost assured kill. These munitions will be sent to your nation, along with the plans via C-5 Galaxy cargo plane upon confirmation. As soon as our dispute between the two other nations is resolved, we will free up our 5th fleet, and 4th expeditionary force as needed for service to your cause. Our Elite Guard will be placed on standby to serve if the need should arise. If you require any further assistance, a telegram should be sent to secure it.

Respectfully, I would like to point out that we in no way shape or form have given indication that we supported the genocidal ways of Guffingford, or the authoritarian bloc you speak of. In fact, this is an assault on the general ways of which Hogsweat has taken as an approach to politics. Having been the aggressor in many-a conflicts, including two or three wars in Haven, I would have to say that it is safe to assume their leader unstable, and likely to begin another campaign of aggression sometime very soon. We simply take heed and precaution that more lives are not lost at the hands of the aggression of Hogsweat. Of course, if that means to tarnish our own name slightly, in the name of a much more peaceful future, then so be it.

Its really a matter of sacrifice, you see.

[OOC: So now a 5m pop nation with a powerhouse econ "only" has 40-50 bombers more advanced than anything ever constructed in RL. Ack, whatever, but in that case I can do this:]

Imperial Praetonian Space Defence Command [IPSDaC]

The darkened room was abuz with activity. Men and women running backwards and forwards between different computer screens and analysis rooms. High above the earth, Praetonian satellites had been mapping out Su^Diablan territory, the positions of their airbases and ports, as well as major cities and army bases. Within a few hours, enough information had been assembled on the nation to ensure a fairly high percentage of detecting in-bound attacks. A large airbase particularly caught the attention of the analysists.

"What is it?" Asked the commander of this section of the Orbital Telemetary Department.

"It's an airbase sir, but what's most interesting is this," he said, pointing at tiny shapes on the gound, "Hypersoar bomber, sir. They must be, judging by the design."

The man standing opposite looked shocked, "H-how? Who are we fighting here?"

"By all accounts, they have aquired the technology from somewhere else, possible the planes too. They certainly didnt design this themselves and it's very unlikely they built them either."

"So we're looking for a 'benefactor', eh?"

"It would appear that way, sir. Interestingly enough, satellite-borne radar detected a G-5 Galaxy land in Su^Diablo. We're still picking our way through ten gigabytes of back-data, but we should know who the 'benefactor' is a few hours."

"Very good! Excellent. At least I'll have something good to tell the Minister tomorrow, for a change."

"Yes sir," the analyst replied sincerely. The Ministry of Defence had been planning cuts to that department for some time now, but this could save them.

"Carry on, Lieutenant."

Department for Airborne and Missile Defence, IPSDaC

"Sir, we've received information from Telemetary. Several hypersoar bombs leaving an airbase in Su^Diablo," an Inter-Departmental Liason Officer informed his commander.

"And we have orders to shoot them down?"

"Yes sir. The Prime Minister's Office contacted us this morning with authorisation to open fire."

"Very good, Captain," the Commander replied, picking up his microphone, "Upon aquisition of airborne targets from Su^Diablo, you have authorisation to give fire." His voice boomed throughout his section of the base, the lights dimmed to make the radar, IR and X-Ray radar screens more easily visible, and launch codes were hastily tapped in.

"Sir, we have aquisition of target. Approximately 45 aircraft flying in the upper stratosphere. Permission to give fire," came a hastily whispered communication from the Weapons section.

"Fire at will," the Commander replied. A spread of 80 missiles was quickly lined-up, firing from 8 seperate satellites. The Commander turned his microphone off for a minute and turned to the Liason Officer,

"This is all awfully expensive. Will the Ministry give us enough funds to replace those missiles?"

"Oh I would have jolly well thought they ought to," the Liason replied, as the missiles hurtled down into the atmosphere, speeding towards the planes oblivious to their existance some distance below.

Immediatly after detection, the airbourne craft broke their formation, and disengaged their original course. Not expecting an attack so much earlier on, the air was indeed filled with the explosions of those already killed in the war against Hogsweat. Most, had managed to escape; however strategically and tactically, they had been fired upon first, and were way off course already. It was time to make slight adjustments, since the homeland was coming up in a matter of minutes. There, they would make sure to avoid surrounding areas at all costs, but to target any villages, either civillian or military didnt matter, in the north of Hogsweat. These initially would provide the defenses to the North. And of course, it could go without saying that ports were targetted with the attacking force's missiles, as well as other more important logistical targets.

Really, with the knowledge that there was no way of victory right now, the pilots were more concentrated on killing as many as citizens as possible, while still attempting to minimalise any loss. They were here to introduce battle and destruction to those inside Hogsweat.

One missile, perhaps by mistake and perhaps by design, was not in fact an anti-air missile. The missile streaked directly down, stealthed to the best of Praetonia's Engineers' ability. As it entered the stratosphere, the missile began broadcasting active radar. If no-one had detected it before (it was more than likely that they wouldnt have) it would be detected now. The missile shot below the planes, homing in on the PWS Spectrum, a Jupiter Class ASW Frigate in the Imperial Praetonian Navy. Impacting upon the ship's bow with an almighty crash, bore right down into the 4.5" magazines with sheer kinetic energy and ignited the explosives stored below. The front of the ship was ripped away, burning sailors struggled to free themsleves from the tangled, sinking wreck.

The only vessel for miles was the other Praetonian frigate (for they always travel in pairs), the PWS Venus. As the ship moved to close the mile distance to aid her compatriot, the Spectrum was already sinking. Such a vessel costs $1.2bn to reproduce. Being blamed for striking first, even when it was clearly obvious that Su^Diablo had declared war upon an ally of Praetonia and therefore Praetonia herself, was worth far more than that. At least, it was to the unscrupulous men and women who were hired especially for the task by the Praetonian secret military intelligence.

Grey House, Republic of Skinny87

An aide rushed into President Martin's Oval Office, stopping only briefly to be searched by one of the many ever-present Secret Service Agents that patrolled within and outside of the Grey House. The man was sweating profusely, mainly because he had been running all the way through the myriad of check-points and corridors throughout the Grey House, but also a little through fear.

Xavier looked up, and took off the reading spectacles that he found he needed to resort to more and more over the past few months, and sat patiently as the flustered aide saluted and rather unceremoniously dumped a pie of folders onto his oak and leather-bound desk. He was getting rather tired of these constant interruptions, especially when the majority of times they were utterly pointl... He broke off this chain of thought as he opened the top file and saw the top colour photograph that lay in the file.

He frowned. A Praetonian Frigate was pictured, burning profusely with its bow already under water, obviously sinking. Xavuier flipped through the rest of the photos, each one of the Frigate sinking further into the water, and of another Frigate coming into assist. He turned to the now motionless aide. 'Who?' he asked. The aide evidently knew what he meant, as he replied just as briefly. 'We believe it to have been SuDiablo aircraft sir, possibly an air-launched missile. We have no idea of the casualties sir, but they must be quite high.'

Xavier did not answer, but instead flipped through the photos again, a little stunned at the events. Threatening Hogsweat was one thing, yes. Threats were six-a-penny these days. But to attack the vessels of Praetonia was another thing entirely. He made a quick decision.

'Give the orders to the Deaprtment of Defense. Begin mobilisation of all Republican military assets and move the military to DEFCON Two. If SuDiablo wants a fight, then we'll give them one'

"We interrupt this broadcast of Football Night With Salvatore to bring you this special news bulletin," the almost robotic voice intoned.

"What the bloody hell? What's more important than World Cup football?"

"The PWS Spectrum was hit by a kinetic energy missile and is presumed lost. Satellite imagery points to the missile being launched by Su^Diablo, who had just condemned Hogsweat for attacking the embassies of Guffingford and The Merchant Guilds."

"There goes my vacation," mumbled the man. He picked up his cell phone.

"Becky, get me the President. Tell him it's urgent."

"Sarzo."

"Did you see what happened?"

"I did."

"What are we going to do?"

"Right now, John, there isn't much we can do. We haven't received official word of, oh wait a minute." Sarzo read a note being passed from the Department of Defence. "It looks like it is confirmed. I'm going to address Parliament in a half hour, but I'm going to try one last thing to avert a total war." Sarzo hung up before John Newman, the Vice President for Defence could find out what that was.

I am only going to tell you this once: Firing upon an Imperial Praetonian warship is considered an act of war on Praetonia and, by extension, an act of war against the Incorporated States of Sarzonia. I strongly advise you not to take any more aggressive action against Praetonia or you will find yourself embroiled in a war with Sarzonia. Consider this your first, last, and only warning. Stand down within the next 24 hours or face the consequences of your actions.

Sarzo then stood up and walked at a brisk pace toward Parliament Hall with a speech in hand and a death glare on his countenance.

CASC Base, Liberate Soil

A man dressed in a simple white shirt, black pants, black tie work uniform sat idly, watching a large radar screen. On the radar screen was a massive, circular representation of earth, and around it were smaller visuals of different angles of earth. Each of these depictions had several, several small blips which moved albeit slowly across the screen. These represented the many satellites of the earth. Instantly, several blips began coming in from one of the smaller sectors of the radar screens. With a few clicks the man quickly brought the sector in question up to the main screen and began to survey it. The blips represented the Praetonian satellites, loosing a payload of some 79 objects towards earth. The man zoomed in a bit more to focus on the payload loosed by the satellites. He followed them very closely as a few more personel began to take notice of the action the view of the missles was quickly brought onto the operations center's main viewing screen. The bases' computers instantly plotted the velocity of each missle and tracked its movement to the position of the SuDiablo airwing preparing for the attack on Hogsweat. They continued watching as many of the missles, upon entering the atmosphere whirled around a bit and disappeared from the screen, but something unusual happened, a new contact appeared on the screen. The missle was tracked all the way to the surface of the ocean. the GPS coordinates of the impact site were mapped. The data was to be immediately analyzed and sent to all allied nations for intelligence purposes.

It did not take too long for the Base to learn of the incident in the ocean involving the Praetonian ship, and that the satellites belonged to Preatonia. Orders were given to the intelligence department to hastily put down this act of propoganda by issueing this data and information to the world. Within hours news networks around the world were broadcasting a computer generated build of the incident, clearly accusing Praetonia of destroying their own ship to turn other nations against SuDiablo.

Official Statement of the Imperial Government of Praetonia

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/PraeFlagII.jpg

"His Imperial Majesty's Government is completely and utterly disgusted at the malicious insinuation that Praetonia would destroy her own ships. We are willing to make avaliable our own, genuine telemetary, and that taken by many non-governmental satellites owned by Praetonian companies and companies in Praetonian colonies, which clearly show a missile being launched by one of the Su^Diablan fighters.

We can also make available telemetary data which shows a military cargo plane taking off from Liberated America and landing on Su^Diablan soil, directly implicating them in the Su^Diablan war effort that has so far been directed against Praetonia. The Su^Diablan planes that survived our interception after their dispicable attack on our navy are now on course for Hogsweat, persumably to bomb military and civilian targets there.

Here we have seen an unknown nation come out of the woodwork, reveal extremely advanced military technology (presumably also supplied by Liberated America as Su^Diablo has no capability to build such weapons) conduct unprovoked attacks against both Praetonia and Hogsweat, and then conduct a terribly shabby intelligence operation implicating Praetonia, and then claim that we were out to get them all along.

We can also provide, to interested parties, information detailing 26 mistakes in the telemetary provided to us by Liberated America - clear evidence that it was forged. From the moment Su^Diablo declared war upon our allies in Hogsweat, Praetonia was at war also, but as we now have iirrefutable evidence of Liberated American envolvement, we have no choice but to reciprocate their declaration of war also.

It is indeed a sad day for the world when nations will stoop to such an abysmally low level, and we certainly hope that we are provided with a full apology from both nations immediately or action will be taken against both nations.

[OOC: It's extremely unlikely that you could even detect any of the missiles until impact, but assuming you did, there is [i]absolutely no way that you could prove the 80th missile was fired by Praetonian satellites, as it follows the exact same course that a missile fired by their planes would, and it will appear on radar right in the middle of their formation - therefore assuming your radar cant track missiles attached to the underside of planes, they wouldnt even have known anything was wrong. Still, you can have your evidence, as it makes it more interesting, but it wont convince anyone who isn't already very willing to listen to it (ie Su^Diablo... but then he knew anyway).

Why, upon reading your cretinous claim, I let out a mighty scoff and nearly choked upon my brandy! Its entirely possible for modern-era satellites to detect space-launched munitions to the degree which i described. A missle launched from an aircraft does not reach full speed immediately, nor does it follow a direct 90 degree path to its target. Also, the Liberates have one of the most advanced early warning systems in existence. Using dozens of satellites tracking each significant body within several thousand miles of each. A launch of eighty missles would have been easily detected by my sensors.

Official Yaforite Government Response

This is a disgusting attempt at discediting some of the world's greatest nations. It is beneath many of us to crush nations such as you, nations that deserve to be crushed. The Government of Yafor 2 will not stand for such insults to some of our closest allies: Praetonia and Hogsweat.

Another attempt at attacking Praetonian vessles will result in a state of war. Thoug our satellites did not pick anything up, none of them were watching at the time, and that area. We fully trust that the Praetonian government says the truth; you attacked them.

Though Yafor 2 is an ardent pacifist government, we believe Praetonia should not stand for this. The Woodstock Pact might not, and if it doesn't, I pray for your souls.

Yafor 2 is not a nation to fight, though we will do so if our allies are threatened.

Message to whom it may concern reguarding the SuDiablo/Hogsweat incident

The nation of StPetersburg is quite amazed by this tiny nation's testicular fortitude when it comes to suicidal acts. StPetersburg does, however, fully endorse this attack on hogsweat. While StPetersburg may be a Socialist nation alongside Hogsweat, we fully feel that their latest actions go completely against socialist ideals and we therefore must sever all contact be it commercial or political with them. StPetersburg would also like to publicly announce its intent on supporting SuDiablo, and Liberated America in this time of war, and will lend any help needed.

OOC: To be honest as an observer (for now, though I may participate soon), I have to ask whether you are just a "puppet nation" of Liberated America. No hard feelings, but the two nations does have the same founding date, aside considering that the last post by you is well over a year ago in February 04. If it indeed is the case, puppet wanking, which includes utilizing another nation that you control to influence an RP that your "host" nation is participating in, is highly frowned upon. I'm asking for a honest answer since we all want a fair RP here.

I could be very wrong, but there are still indications that led me to making this post.

Central Command, the Incorportated States of Su^Diablo

"I could only deny that it was our intention to fire upon the ships or forces of Praetonia. As you will see in the attached projections, the positions of my airwing forces were not positioned in such a way that there was any way that one of my pilots could have intent to destroy, or damage that ship. My forces were indeed carrying a series of air to ground missiles, however if the missile hitting the ship owned by Praetonia was our own, I do apoligies for misfire. However, those accusing the Incorporated States of being the aggressor upon Praetonia ought to look at the facts first.

Also included in this message, you will find a second projection, illustrating that from Praetonian satellites, some eighty-missiles were fired upon my airwing. They scrambled to avoid these missiles through a series of manoevers, but that was in no way shape or form before we set upon our firing procedure. Therefore, the Praetonian forces were the first to fire in this incident, and I deny any responsibility for damage they may have endured due to their hungry actions to battle.

To the government of Praetonia, if you want to battle it out thats fine. However you will not stand in the way of my ultimate goal, and that would be the invasion, and awakening of the Hogsweatian people, of whom seem to be under a state of blindfoldism due to their government's foul propeganda. I would prefer it, friend, if Praetonian forces stood aside, for we have no quarrel except the one you seek with us.

And to the friends of Praetonia, I have given them chance. I have offered them peace. Now friends, it is their choice on whether or not to continue these acts of engagement with our forces, and if they do, them my. They are the criminals, the ones who thirst for war. I should imagine that you dont want to fund their own desire for blood."

The Omzian government and military is rather concerned in regards to the claim of the "eventual invasion" of Hogsweat. Though we do not have much friendly relations with Hogsweat to begin with, and though we are still neutral in regards to the rather horrific sinking of the Praetonian ship, we must warn the nation of SuDiablo about the Maritime Treaty of GĂ«rsburg (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8570757&postcount=37), currently in effect among many Haven nations (and even though not being a signatory, the Omzian nation is also obeying such treaty). Even though we have our own tensions with Hogsweat, especially with the recent embassy incident, any explicit attempts to breach the existing terms of the maritime treaty with an outright seaborne invasion against any Haven nation would not be accepted by the government of Omz (as a member of Haven). In addition, if such plan and invasion of Hogsweat is carried out in violation of such treaty, the Omzian naval task force of Task Force 18 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8599282&postcount=83) (which is on patrol along northern Haven waters) and possibly along with the full might of the Omzian military, will repel such plan with its full force.

Already horrified by the grossly irresponsible attacks being carried out by SuDiablo, our only advise is that the action of countering an evil (as in the embassy raidings) with another form of evil (as in the outright attacks against Hogsweat civilians with no provocation from Hogsweat whatsoever, without any desire for peace and meditation), is equally vile, barbarous, and outrageous. In the end however, we must caution all against the prospects of war, as it is imperative that peaceful and diplomatic methods are to be considered. War and death, as we are sure, is not what we seek as sovereign nations; instead, it is in the best interests to approach and to breach the matter of the Hogsweatian raids of foreign embassies in a non-violent manner, as civil nations alike.

"How did we not see this? Why must we always rely on second-hand information?"
"Remember that paperwork I gave you last year? The one about the spy satellites?"
"Yes, bloody waste of money. Flying around and around, taking pictures of things, and costing billions to develop and millions per satellite. What about it?"
"Erm, Sir, those spy satellites are what give those nations the ability to see things as they happen. You know. From space. Flying around and around."
"Really now? Now why wasn't I made aware of that?"
"It was assumed..."
"Ba! Don't assume in the future. Oh, and get us some satellites when you can. Find the money somewhere, whatever."

While I most certainly am pleased by your arrival on the scene, and that
you came down on the right side, I do not believe that an all-out, fruitless
invasion is the answer. You have a very small population: do you really
want to kill off your most productive generation to prove a point that will
be forgotten in a matter of years, if not months or weeks? Any attack you
make against Hogsweat could easily be repulsed before you even land.
Missile batteries and tremendous air and naval forces will make landings
impossible, unless escorted by a force much greater than you could possibly
muster. Green Beard is much larger than you are, and still, we would not
attempt this.

What I would suggest is that you make peace with Hogsweat and her allies,
and join the fledgling alliance Green Beard is organising for eventual mutual
defense against Hogsweat. Even a small nation can be useful, and quite
frankly we need help getting this alliance off the ground. I await your
response.

Vinny, get me Pierre on the phone.

Ye?

I just got off the phone with the Praetonian embassy. They were under fire by a nation named Su Diablo.

What?

Yup, they attacked Hogsweat. They hit a Praetonian ship somewhere allong the way.

Made in Camewot?

I'm affraid so.

Bastards.

The Imperial Palace was busy when Verhofstadt entered the Emperors room.
Jens was trying to recover from the booze he drank when the partys began in Jensen.
What is it now?

Praetonia is under attack, sir, one of their battleships was sunk.

What do I have to do with it, I gave Illias the command over the army.

Illias is away on a foreign relationships duty.

Oh, what do I have to sign?

The order to launch 20 long-range missiles in order to hit Su Diablos beach defenses and anti-air sites and to call the 5th Imperial Tactical Bomber Squad into duty.

Done, good luck son, make your father pride.

I will.

30 seconds after the Emperor signed the order, the launching site in The Twin Citys prepared itself to launch the first missiles.

"Ah I see hahaha, well since we do not have a problem with SuDiablo let's block their missiles from now on. Haven is pretty near to our region, so we'll be there fairly soon."

A technician watching a screen much like the one in an afore-mentioned incident sat as 20 more small blips popped up on screen. He double Checked his systems to make sure the system was not malfunctioning. Standing up, he motioned to his supervisor to come have a look. A man wearing a dark blue Air Force uniform ran over to have a look. "Sir, i have twenty contacts coming in from Camewot. They seem to be ICBMs, at current trajectories and heading point them at SuDiablo territory." The supervisor looked down to see if the tech was correct. Upon confirming the incident the man looked over to a nearby console and reached for a phone. Before dialing he looked to the tech. "We have strict order to protect SuDiablo airspace, i want you to put Battlestation Hestia III all over those missles. Take out as many as you can. The tack ran through a series of operations, confirming each action with high command before execution. Within a few moments a single blip could be seen as the Hestia, a THEL (tactical high energy laser) satellite trained itself on the missles and began pulsing, a concentrated ion beam shot down to Earth in hopes of downing the launched missles.

"Sir... Camewot..." And again all the work ceased as men and women fell off their chairs out of uncontrollable laughter, a few minutes later the ABM systems began taking down the Camewottian missiles. "Can we engage them with ASATs?"

"I believe so, sir. A standard spread of 8 missiles should knock them out easily enough."

"Excellent - fire at will."

Mere minutes later, eight ASAT missiles streaked from launch sites around Praetonia, stealthed to the best of the ability of Praetonian missile engineers. Two would attack each satellite, and their warheads ensured that even a near miss would kill the lightly protected satellites.

"Sir, our satellites are giving off the signal of being locked by ASAT missiles, I have activated their automated response."
"Very good, also I want a manual booster control to steer our satellites out of the ASAT path, to prevent them being damaged by the blast radius."
"Of course sir."

From digital imagefeeds the satellites view was seen, looking down on earth. In the distance a few small dots were spotted by a movement detector, moving towards the satellites. Of course those were the missiles launched by Praetonia, and locked on our satellites. From the satellites small anti-ASAT missiles were activated, two locked on each of the Praetonian missiles. The small missiles only carried a small explosive charge, but enough to destroy the missile. And once again, the new Black Steel supercomputer calculated all required paths of the anti-ASAT, velocity needed to hit the missiles before the blast radius damages the satellites. The stealth capabilities of the missiles may have worked on the ground, but the eyes from the satellites betrayed their presence. Well before they even came remotely near the Guffingfordii space-based NirSats, they were in plain view. Anti-ASAT's deployed, Praetonian missiles blasted out of the sky. To prevent even further damage caused by the blown up missiles, the satellites were steered out of their regual planned orbit by their on-board boosters.

That's what you get when you pump cash originally planned on education and enviroment; unmanned space fortresses. With a regular re-armament team passing by of course.

Subject: Act of War

Earlier this morning Praetonian Strategic Forces launched eight missiles towards satellites owned by Liberated America - a nation which has committed acts of war against the Imperium. Some minutes later, said missiles disappeared from the radar map after passing close to Guffingfordi satellites from which ABM missile launches were detected. In the past, the Democratic Imperium of Praetonia has made no offencive actions towards the Reich, but in light of current events we have no choice but to demand an immediate apology from the Reich for what we are sure was a mistake in targetting. If such an apology is not delivered, an unavoidable and irreperable degeneration of relations between our two states will occur. Such an occurance would not be healthy for either of our powerful states, nor for associated allies which have long been at loggerheads. We do not wish to cause the stupid actions of two petty nations to escalate into a full scale war, but the real question is: "Do you?"

We reserve the right to protect nations from communist and liberal aggression, espcially aggression coming from Haven. Nay! They call our defensive action an act of war, while they have started to attack one of the IARA member's orbital platforms. They also, in their endless arrogance, demand an official apology from us. And even if we do, then we bow to their insane and absurd wishes. Thus giving them even more reason to follow whatever hidden agenda they have. No, we demand an official apology from the 'Democratic Imperium' of Praetonia. We do not give any nation a motive and let them commit unopposed acts of war to attack allied interests of the Reich. If do not apologize, fine I will not do so either. Then I will say we are even. You attacked one of us, and one of us attacked one of you."

Republican Missile Command, Northern New Kaylee

The Missile Command Centre was one of the largest buildings throughout the Republic, and was certainly one of the largest military installations, buried as it was deep inside Indigo Mountain near New Kaylee. The Command Centre's nerve centre was the Control Room, a huge, cavernous room that had four huge plasma screens, one for each wall, on which the Republic, its colonies and the rest of the planet was monitored by the RMC. Hundreds of technicians manned the consoles in this room alone, and there were over 50,000 people living within the facility, many of them belonging to the 4th Mountain Division which was deployed to protect the entire facility.

Currently one of the four screens had a magnified picture of SurDiablo and the airspace around it, the three-dimensional picture scrolling constantly around the screen. Sirens had been constantly blaring as ICBM's and ABM's had been firing and exploding in this small enclosed section of airspace, which had attracted the attention of Brigadier-General Plymouth, head of the RCM facility. Looking at the tracks on a smaller computer screen, he saw that each of the Praetonian missiles had been knocked out before hitting the targeted Sattelites of Liberated America.
Plymouth simply could not believe it. Praetonian missiles were at the height of missile technology, and he could not believe that all of them had been destroyed. Suddenly, the teletype machine next to him began chattering, and a set of orders came out of it. Ripping them from the machines, he scanned the orders and then turned to the Colonel standing next to him. 'We have authorisation for a full launch at the Liberated American Satelittes. Confirmation, Alpha-Delta-Theta-Eight-Five-One.' The Colonel nodded, and the two men pulled cards from chains around their necks, and stuck them into two corresponding slots in a central console. Turning them at the same time, they activated the Republican Missile net, and fed in the coordinates of the targeted satellites. Then the system went automatic, prepping and finally relaying the firing code to the Missiles themselves.

Twelves seconds later, ten ICBM missiles were launched out of their silos several miles from the facilty and streaked towards their targets...

The base had been switched to high alert since so many missles had been deployed against the two Liberate Satellites over SuDiablo. Due to this, all sensors had been switched to full power, and all auxiliary sensors had been activated. Upon sensing the missles launch from skinny87, it was immediately brought to the attention of the officials within the base. The men had been through many drills of this situation before, and they began to go through the procedures of avoiding an impact to the valuable satellites. They had only minutes to react.

First each of the satellites were directed to target the incoming missles with their THEL batteries. Each satellite was equipped with three of these sophisticated laser cannons, which quickly swiveled to fire upon the bogies. As the batteries attempted to burn through the outer casing of the warhead and detonate the explosives inside, or at least to disable the missles propulsion system, the satellite was immediately propelled several hundred miles away from their previous obiting location, using their electrical propulsion system which uses a tethered pod and alternating electric currents to drive at several thousand miles an hour. The ten missles shouldnt prove a problem at all for the Liberates.

Battle Station Orchid II would also be deployed to the area to deal with any future launches on the satellites which might have overwhelmed them.

IC-

Such was the custom, was that the notice was well over exaggerated. When the Soviet Union was at war, they mobilised everything as soon as humanely possible, and well, prepared for the worst. Offensives were usually few and far between. There was much scrambling in the under ground command centre, labelled the WeSDeS, short for West Soviet Defense System including the prepping of nuclear weapons.. which of course, would never be used. It was however, a young monitor's triple check that discovered that the nation of SuDiablo was actually small, but comparatively powerful, country. The discovery warranted many a sigh of relief in the Hogsweatian equivalent of NORAD. Even before the Autocrat had attempted to make a statement regarding the tiny, and new found enemy, there was already activity in the major northern port city of Horonezh. The three carrier groups currently moored there, Task Force: Angry Bear, Task Force: Diving Eagle, and Operations Unit: Howling Wind were stocking up on supplies, running operation briefings for ship commanders, and loading troops into the deployment ships.

Meanwhile, Josef had appeared in the central city of Dorsalgrad, still under fire from Scandavian guns and rockets, to make an accouncment to the world and to the people of Hogsweat.

Citizens of the Free World;
The disgusting and egotistic nation, has recently declared war on our self, the Soviet Socialist Union. In addition they have attacked and destroyed a Praetonian ship that was not in any hostile position to Su^Diablo forces. This unfortunate loss of life is a sign of the hostility and warmongering of the nation of Su Diablo. the USSHR is willing to pay reperations to our glorious ally of Praetonia for the dead sailors and destroyed equipment.

The Nation of Hogsweat will not stand by while nations like Su Diablo wreak death and destruction on innocent people. We will converge on the tiny capitalistic, bloodsucking paradise and destroy it and convert it to the glory of Socialism!
Long Live the Soviet Union!
Long Live the Motherland!

From an airbase in Northern Hogsweat, the bombers were loaded with weapons for pre emptives strikes on Su Diablo. Having armed the bombers with weapons for the task already, all they needed was to take off. The pilots, waiting for this day to strike for three months, jumped eagerly into their aircraft and took off. The sixty four B1B Lancer's took off in groups of four, quickly zooming up into their maximum height of 45,000 feet and accelerated to top speed, flying ahead to Su Diablo. Not imagining it would be uncontested, a Northern Seas Escort Carrier launched twenty four of it's Harrier Escort which were also backed up by fourty Tornado GDV's.

The fleet set sail in Horonezh, the two task groups and one operation group moving at convoy speed, surrounding the five great aircraft carriers, fully loaded, the might and pride of the Soviet Navy, and in front and behind them two of the Unity Superdreadnaughts, their crews preparing the huge guns for a retaliatory strike when in range.

Northern Fleet Base of Operations, New Kaylee Harbour

The rumour had spread like wildfire throughout the base, moving on from word of mouth to nearly-proven fact, until it was eventually confirmed by a radio broadcast by President Martin from the Grey House:

'My fellow citizens of the Republic. I take no pride in bearing this news, but I must now tell you that this Republic is now in a state of war with the nationstate of SuDiablo. This nation, though small in size, has launched a deliberate and unprovoked attack upon a Praetonian vessel in International Waters, killing hundreds, and has also engaged our Missile Command forces above that nation's airspace. We have therefore reluctantly declared wra upon this country and her allies. We march not alone, but with our allies in Praetonia and Hogsweat, and we are assured that Victory will soon be in our grasp. Long live the Republic.'

Somewhere, Near Liberated America

The submarine cut silently through the water. So far down, and with such a quiet waterjet propulsion system and an advanced system of layered jel and anechoic tiling, it was extremely unlikely that the submarine could be detected if there was anything nearby. Nothing was on passive sonar. Nothing that could detect them anyway.

The sleek submarine was not, however, a benign instrument by any stretch of imagination. Amidships were mounted thirty-two cruise missile Vertical Launch Cells. The missiles, equipped with SCRAMjet boosters, were capable of hitting Mach 7 as they carried their heavy explosive warhead a distance of nearly a thousand kilometers.

The vessel, namely somewhat aptly the PWS Vengance, was approaching Liberated America. Approaching, but still keeping its distance. Several hundred kilometers away, well out of range of any ASW helicopter that could be launched from the shore, the final checks were being made to the missiles. It was not long before the checks were done, and the missile pronounced ready to fly. It was with great satisfaction that the Captain pressed to button activating the firing sequence. He saw the missiles [OOC: Non-ballistic, mind.] shoot off from the still surface submarine, before giving the order to dive down need, and make haste away from the scene.

All about the massive complex alert lights were going off and the incident of occurance had been brought up to the main screen. A contingent of missles (OOC: did you launch all of them?) had been detected coming inland, presumably from a submarine, and presumably from one of two nations. The republic and Praetonia. The missles were moving at an extremely fast rate towards the shore. As soon as the situation was assessed, the proper countermeasures were put into place. All around Liberated America THEL batteries capable of engaging airborne targets several hundred miles away kicked into action to target the incoming missles. The speed of the incoming projectile was of no consequence to these weapons as they posessed the most advanced tracking and targeting systems to date, capable of shooting down incoming small arms rounds. Two THEL satellites which were in constant vigil above LA were fed the targeting information and fired upon the enemy.

News of the enemy launch quickly reached Liberate high command, however no retaliatory strike was to be put inot place at this time. The chose instead, to simply wait.

The THEL system has enough power to knock out a 200mm rocket, with little armored protection, and a low altitude profile, however,in no way can it shoot down a missiles. Beta Naval Base, Liberated America

It was a dark morning at Beta. Intermittent weather had clouded the skies with thunderclouds. Drowsy sailors lurched towards the Quad to form up for morning roll call. The wind blew the Liberate colors every which was on the 3 docked ships which were in port. The "Hestia" class destroyer the A.S.S. Phenix, the "Hestia" class light carrier the A.S.S. Abbyville, and the "Hades" class Aegis Cruiser the A.S.S. Dothan. The rest of the Liberate 5th fleet and the 4th expeditionary force was off battling the Loyalist forces on MagnaCartman. (OOC: It really is, just check my posts.)

Suddenly at 0549 alarms all about the base began to go off, but the warning was too little too late. As confused sailors on the quad looked around for some indication fo what was wrong the thirteen missles which made it past Liberate air defenses slammed into nearby buildings and the ships in port, destroying the Phenix and the Abbyville, and severly crippling the Dothan. Fires burned and black smoke rose high into the air as men ran in all directions attempting to put out the fires and aid the wounded.

Losses: 1 Destroyer, 1 Light Carrier. 343 Sailors killed in their barracks, 846 aboard the 3 ships.

Republican Missile Command Centre

Sirens were blaring throughout the facility as the first impacts of the Praetonian missiles in the Liberated American Harbour were registered on the giant Plasma Screens. General Plymouth ran out of his office, over to a bank of monitors; a group of technicians were clustered around one of the monitors, watching Satellite images of the destruction of the Harbour.
One of them turned and saw Plymouth. 'General, we have confirmed hits on several Liberated American Vessels and a barracks. Heavy Casualties estimated from the detonations. Suggest a second strike with our capabilities General.'

Plymouth stared at the screens for a long second, before turning to the Colonel standing next to him.

Twelves seconds later, twelve ICBM missiles were launched out of their silos several miles from the facilty and streaked towards their targets in the Liberated American Harbour...

Liberated America....in general

All around the country THEL laser batteries and LRAM anti-missle batteries had kicked into action minutes after the first missles which had been fired upon the harbor struck. The two THEL satellites which stood constant guard over Liberate were also scanning the area for any more threats. All military installations were put on constant alert as more enemy strikes were expected.

The second strike did indeed come, but was met with much more resistance than the first and didnt stand a chance against the Liberate Defenses. LRAMs from all over the nation were fired up into the morning sky, targeting the relatively small number of enemy ballistic missles, which were also a prime target for several hundred THEL batteries.

This time a retaliatory strike was pursued. CASC command went through the appropriate proceedures and launched a total of ninety intercontinental EMP missles towards the military centers of the republic, camewot, and praetonia.

Losses: Some heavy machinery used in normal harbor operations destroyed or severly damaged. 46 sailors killed.

Strategic Command

As the men saw yet another volley of ICBM's departing Skinny87 enroute to Liberated America, the AMB system gave off a full alert. The ABM satellites, now fully equipped with Black Steel datafeeds and closely watched and guarded by spacestations began to place themselves in a position to take down all the incoming ICBM's. Somewhere on the high seas several Vanguard class submarines were ordered to launch twenty Trident II missiles at the capital city of Skinny87. The missile, designed by the joint Macabee/Guffingford corporation was one of its kind. As the submarine captains entered the authorization codes there was little more the SC chiefs wanted to do in this situation. Should any of them decide to invade Liberated America, then they would see the power of IARA.

The missiles were launched, targets locked on civillian areas, hospitals and schools. Their mission wasn't to damage their petty military assesments but to demoralize. Fully steered - again - by the amazingly well working RWC supercomputer, the missiles now have the benefit of being steered away from possible threats. The computer does not think of its own, but with eyes in the sky, CELLDAR listening the missile has all the senses it needs.

Republican Missile Command

All four of the giant Plasma Screens were lit up, centered upon the tracks of dozens of EMP Missiles that had been launched as a counter-strike against the Republican Missile Launch. The enemy missiles were moving fast towards Republican Territory, and were soon nearing their targets.

General Plymouth and his team sprang into action to deal with these missiles. Republican Defense Squadrons were launched towards the oncoming missiles, and although they were fast, several of the large missiles were knocked out of the sky by AMRAAM's and Sidewinder Air-to-Air missiles from the patroling fighters.
Still the remainder of the missiles came on, and as they did so they moved briefly over New Kaylee and the naval base there. SAM and PATRIOT Batteries picked up the targets and fired salvoes against them, with considerably more success, knocking over half of the remainder out of the sky. However, the defences of the capital were breached and the missiles detonated over New Kaylee, and the major Republican Fighter Base near the port.
As the missiles detonated they generated a huge electrical impulse that spread for miles through the country. The Fighter Base was the less shielded of the two, and was devestated. Dozens of fighters and bombers were fried and exploded on the runways and inside their hangers, detonating and killing their crews as well, and the base itself was rendered inoperable by the blasts.
The naval base was off-centre to the blasts, and so was marginally less effected by the detonation. However, several pursuing fighters were destroyed, and the RNS Frigate Mayfair and several small patrol boats were fried and destroyed, their arnaments detonating in a fiery ball that was seen miles away, killing all those onboard.

Dowland City, Republic of Skinny87

No sooner had the EMP Missiles from Liberated America detonated on the east coast by New Kaylee, then confused reports came in from the Republican Missile Command about Guffingford ICBM's in the air, being tracked towards Dowland City itself.
Civil Alert Sirens blared as the missiles made their way towards the city, and the city's population began to panic; motorways and roads were soon clogged with people trying to get out of range of the missiles before they ht the city. Simultaneously, President Martin was lifted from his office in the Grey House and placed in a helicopter to Camp Stuart for his own protection, and the defenses around the city began to turn on the incoming missiles.

15 ICBM's had been tracked altogether from the Guffingford launchers, and they were soon in range. Capital Defense Squadrons were launched into the airspace around the capital, and PATRIOT and SAM batteries began launching desperately at the ICBM's, and ABM's were also launched from the RMC. Nearly half of the enemy ICBM's were hit or crippled and detonated in the air, or in one instance in the national park. However, the rest got through, and detonated in the city, causing chaos. Thousands were killed instantly as the missiles hit packed buildings and motorways, and thousands more as people fled from the areas hit by the missiles. Dozens of square acres were devestated, including the Treasury Building and the Education Department.

Casualties: 18,567

The room was quiet as news of the casualties from the missile strikes on Dowland City continued to roll in. Several technicians were sick as they heard that the casualties were now numbering in the high thousands. All attention was on the screens as the teleprint machine burped out a scroll of papers, commands from Camp Stuart and the President.
General Plymouth wordlessly took the paper out and read it. He smiled grimly. He had been authorised to commit his entire Non-Nuclear Forces against the capital of Guffingford. He turned to the ever-present Colonel. Send the code, 'Theta' to all forces and send them the coordinates for the capital of Guffingford. I want everything we have launched at that city. Raze it to the ground.'

The codeword was sent out to all Republican Missile Command Assets. Within the hour, more than eighty conventional warhead ICBM's were on their way to the Guffingford Capital, and a second wave of B1-B Lancers and B-52 Bombers, as well as the largest Fighter concentration ever seen in the Republic's history was ready for another strike if it was neccessary...

[OOC: Ok. I'll pick a variety of targets then, but not the capital because that would probably get you nuked (I dont know what kind of warhead is in the ICBMs until they impact)]

Praextremis Gunboat Station, Southern Praetonia

A sleepy morning in the biggest littoral defence base in Praetonia. Hundreds of gunboats lay in dock, with a further two hundred out patrolling the Southern Coast of Praetonia. Hundreds of miles away, the first reports of missile launches from Liberated America were coming in from satellites orbitting high above the earth. The first missiles were also launched from Praetonian satellites, blasting 30 enemy missiles from the sky in their initial boost phase. The harrying attacks continued as they entered the atmosphere - several short-range EMP missiles knocking out another few missiles.

As the surviving 42 missiles approached Praetonian shores, Discus SAAM batteries opened up, slamming into a further 21 missiles a high mach speeds and exploding in a cloud of shrapnel. The sheer number of missiles, however, ensured that the Praetonian missile defences were not 100% effective. The first five missiles to impact were on the Southern coast. One was successfully knocked off course and did little damage, but the remaining four unleashed their powerful EMP blasts. The shore equipment was safely shielded by faraday cages, but a least one hundred and fifty gunboats were damaged to some degree.

They were not destroyed, but all would need computer systems rebooting, many would need replaced electronics and several would need their electronics stripped and completely replaced. Needless to say, this would be a major disadvantage if an invasion were to occur now, and in any case would be extremely expensive and time consuming to replace.

The alarms at Praextremis had not sounded, and the sailors and Naval Guard were completely unaware until after the explosions and EMP blasts which automatically activated alarms in the shielded areas.

Feletopis, Northern Praetonia

A further eight missiles approached the city Feletopis, and its large array of missile silos, anti-air defences and troop bases. The warnings had sounded by now, and a further four missiles were destroyed or knocked harmlessly off-course, but the remaining four let loose their powerful blasts, frying millions of dollars worth of appliances and computers. In the army base, troops had scattered, fearing fragmentation and HE warheads. Most of the equipment there was sheilded, but not all, and a wide array of combat arms including anti-air missile launchers and ATGMs were destroyed.

Central Military Command and IPSDaC

Deep beneath the mountain range surrounding the Praeton Plateau alarms were ringing in the heart of Praetonian military power. THey shouldn't, however, be unduly worried. The three missiles heading towards them would most likely be shot down. In the event, all of them got through, except one, which attempted to attack Praeton and was destroyed by twenty seperate blasts. The EMP missiles which did explode could not even touch the bunkers below, shielded by rocks and minerals. Praeton - the Imperial Capital and heart of the Praetonian Empire - was easily the most heavily defended place in Praetonia. Almost...

Praefele, Base of the Grand Fleet

Praefele was the only city in Praetonia that came anywhere near to equal footing with Praeton. The fleet base of the Praetonian navy, there was no target more important. It was declared policy that any missile which exploded above her ancient walls would result in a full strategic nuclear responce upon the aggressor nation.

Luckily for Liberated America, no such blasts took place. Such a happening would be a calamity, and it could not be allowed to happen. Each of the remaining missiles was locked on to by no less than thirty Discus SAAMs. This was expensive, of course, but much less expensive than replacing over $50 trillion of naval equipment. Each missile was destroyed, knocked off course or disabled, crashing uselessly to the gorund.

[OOC: Overview of losses:

25ish gunboats destroyed
125 damaged and in need of urgent repair.

Several Billion $s of damage.]

Cabinet War Rooms, Deep Under Praeton

"What are we to do," mused the Prime Minister, pacing up and down inside his nuclear bunker. He had received the news that there was no nuclear attack, and his nation was still very much intact.

"We must respond," answered both the Minister of Defence and the Foreign Secretary in unison.

Prime Minister Lucius Agrippa stopped pacing, and turned to face them, "With what? Nuclear weapons... overkill, and it would merely result in a responce. EMP weapons are largely useless on a strategic level, conventional warheads send out a weak message, biological or chemical would incite a nuclear responce."

"We should destroy launch an attack on their government, Prime Minister," the Minister of Defence replied, "They don't know that we fired any of those missiles. THey shouldn't have fired without proof that we had fired first."

"Go on..."

"If we were to launch 128 missiles from 4 of our submarines in the area, from four different directions, we would most certainly penetrate their defences with at least one, and that's all it takes. With their capital building in flames we would have delivered a clear message and not invoked a harsh responce."

"You don't know that," the Prime Minister snapped back, "and Governments should not be in the business of sniping at each other across the sea. No, we shall ready a massive conventional attack against a port containing some ships. Unless they only have two fleets, there must be one - get telemetary on it - how many missiles would you suggest?"

"The 128 is not a hypothetical figure. It is, however, all we have in submarines in that theatre."

"Then it is settled. Launch when ready."

"Aye sir, heavy bombers... B-52's and B-1 Lancers sir. Also heading our way with plenty of fighters and such." The man was sitting behind his desk at ease, carefully watching the television screen constantly updating the situation.
"The fools..." He muttered. "Assign our little computing baby to target one plane per missile, use the MAAM surface-to-air, they cannot destroy those."
"Aye sir." The Black Steel supercomputer calculated every required missile path and angle and within two minutes it gave orders to all AA missile stations and CELLDAR posts.

From the AA missile batteries on the shorelines the automatic missile launch system (AMLS) began to launch missiles with alarming accuracy at the incoming planes of Skinny87. When the first wave has been fired at all the aircraft, another wave was directed at the remaning aircraft, until none were left. The ICBMs were taken down by the hundreds of anti-missile batteries scattered around the major cities and defense structures. Again, the AGL has proven its worth.

CASC, Liberate Soil

Once again, for the fourth time, alarms began going off inside the enormous command center. 128 contacts coming in from the each. This was seen as quite a foolish act as the numerous sorties launched against Liberate military assets had awakened the full power of their defensive emplacements. THEL and LRAM batteries targeted the incoming missles before they reached the coast. In addition to the normal Defenses a full third of the Liberate air force had been scrambled to deal with the effort, with 300 XF-18 Interceptors patrolling the coast when the missles had been launched. With help from the two Defense Satellites it took some effort, but the fate of the missles was sealed. Hundreds of THEL batteries and LRAM missles sites launched upon the incoming missles. Laser beams and missle reports streaked across the skies, downing each of the enemy's munitions. Any Missles which were missed by the Anti-missle defenses were picked out and taken down by interceptor aircraft, launching "Ghost" air-to-air munitions.

Such an attack could not go uncontested by the Liberate command. No hostile action had ever been taken against the Praetonian aside from the targeting of its missles, launched against SuDiablo. The Liberate protection of its ally produced nothing more than hostile missle launches from nations claiming to be allied to Hogsweat. It would not be tolerated any longer.

A communique was to be sent to all concerned nations. Any more actions against the Allied States of Liberated America would result in reprocusions capable to the full military might of our nation. A comment from the Liberate secretary of defense was noted on the occasion. "We've swapped licks and thats that. Put away your guns and well holster ours."

Republican Missile Command

It was deathly silent within the cavernous room, as General Plymouth and his men watched the doomed ICBM and bomber-attack launched at Guffingford during the past few hours. They had watched in awe as the Republican ICBM's launched, only to be horrified when all had been destroyed miles from their targets, having absolutely no effect on Berlin.
The massive aerial armada that they had also pinned their hopes on, to devestate the city if the ICBM's had failed was, in a word, massacred. Hundreds of planes were destroyed and crippled at long range, and although the pilots pressed their planes suicidally towards Berlin, only a very few planes had made it back, almost all of them faster fighters and fighter-bombers. The cream of the Republican Airforce had been slaughtered.

A colonel standing next to Plymouth began to ran, almost hysterically, calling for nuclear strikes until Plymouth physically slapped him into submission. There would be no point in doing so; the strike would fail, and the retaliation was unthinkable. It was over.

'My fellow countrymen. I come to you today from an undisclosed location, to give you news that I had hoped never to give. Earlier this day, Dowland City ws struck by several ICBM's from the nationstate of Guffingford. Though no exact counts are available, we believe the casualties to be near 20,000, and rising. The bombers swept back wings parted the clouds, the mechanical whirr and whizz of bomb bays and external loadouts moving would fill the air with artifical noise, if only there was someone to hear it.

"Bomber lead to all units, remember your targets.. Fire.. Now."

The B1F's launched payload after payload of their weapons, each bomber letting lose around 60 1000lb cluster bombs, and around 160 500lb standard per bomber, making runs back and forth accross the city. With no idea of the havock they were wreaking below, the bomber crews mindlessely pulled trigger after trigger releasing the high explosive bombs. Two of the bomber flights, the most experienced in possibly the whole airforce, were designated with special incendary bombs - hollow missiles with fused tanks of oil inside. When they smashed to the floor the "Missiles" would "detonate" and burn, setting off vehicles, burning houses and anyone in the way of the flames.
Su Diablo would burn.

In SuDiablo Airspace, above Major SuDiablo City

It was fortunate that these three squadrons of B-52's, B1-B Lancers and their escorts had taken off before the massive air armada had been assembled to bomb Berlin, or they too might have been slaughtered. As it was, the pilots had heard the President's broadcast through their oxygen masks and radio systems, and hearing of the bombings and the ever-rising death tolls put them in an ugly mood.

SuDiablo might have been a small nation, but it had started the chain of events that had culminated in the devestation of parts of Dowland City, and as such they hardened their hearts to what they had to do; they might not have started this battle, but they would finish it...

Finally the aircraft arrived in the airspace above the SuDiablo city, and released their payloads, hundreds of thousands of pounds of high-explosive and incendiary bombs, combined with delayed-action munitions to add a surprise for the city...

[OOC: Using this (http://img63.exs.cx/img63/1012/map8ol.jpg) map as a reference.]

[Cerfontaine, Guffingford]
The skies above Cerfontaine rocked with the screech of the turbojets on the various aircraft circling the new Macabee airfield below. It was much of a temporary airfield, built with little notice to the Guffingford administration, however, there was little time for politics when intercontinental ballistic missiles were flying back and forth. Two regional allies of the Macabees, Liberated America, and Guffingford, were struck with missiles, and reports of belligerent submarine activity outside the waters of Liberated American further enflamed the regional peace. Consequently, the new airfield on the tip of southeast Guffingford would serve as a peacekeeper, at least of sorts.

The airfield would boast a full ten squadrons of Lu-05 Schlachten Air Superiority Fighters, eight squadrons of Lu-12 Canary Strike Fighters, and more importantly, twenty squadrons of MMA-D1 Gull reconaissance aircraft. The two former aircraft would provide the punch if necessary, however, the MMA-D1 Gulls were to fly from Cerfontaine to Lacin, around the clock, to provide variable airborne warning and control systems for further protection of Guffingford and Liberated America. The twenty squadrons would provide a total of one hundred Gulls, more than enough to complete the voyage for AWACs duties. Thus, five of those squadrons would soon move further east, to the city of Alkrit on Liberated soil to provide further AWACs duties east of Lacin.

Of course, the two airfields would be fortresses within themselves. Macabee mobile and fixed Praetorian batteries were arriving by ship and by air throughout the days leading to the buildup. Equipped with the all powerful Praetorian V surface to air missile the two bases were amongst the safest in allied control. Furthermore, construction of land based close-in weapon systems was on the rise, following the design of the Chinese, which was in turn designed after the Dutch Goalkeepr CIWS system. Moreover, giant arrays for RADAR, SODAR and LIDAR were being emplaced along the area, providing the Macabees with top notch advanced warning, and making sure that the Macabee contingents would not be harmed.

In the near future the Alkrin Foward Air Base would also be home to six Lu-05 squadrons and three Lu-12 squadrons for further protection of the area. If needed squadrons in the Macabees themselves were on standby for further deployment to the area, in case Praetonia or any other of Hogsweat's henchmen decided to pit their strength against Liberated America.

Perhaps more importantly than the aircraft, thousands of tons of Macabee ordnance were making their way to the two locations. Importantly, there were Principe III missile propelled torpedoes, as well as the newer Shockhound Avenger anti-shipping missiles, and several torpedoes bare for anti-submarine duties. There were also hundreds of the newer MTAAM-3 Predator air to air missiles, amongst the most advanced on the face of the Earth. They bristled under the wings of the Canaries and Schlachten aircraft as said aircraft circled above, like vultures around their prey. It seemed like a miniature mobilization for war, and indeed it was.

Underneath the waves, some one hundred kilometers from Cerfontaine prowled ten Toledo class SSNs, the workhorse of the Macabee silent service. Each was armed with twelve Principe IIIs, and fifteen MT-3 torpedoes, with eight prepared for snap shots. The recent warnings of enemy submarine activity south of Liberated America would not go unheard. The Macabees would make sure the seas were allied, not belligerent.

It was to be a fair sized deployment for allied defense, however, it would leave its mark.

[Seas South of Liberated America]
The two Gull reconassaince aircraft moved fast on top of the waves. There were Praetonian submarines in the area. A former missile launched had provided enough evidence to prove it. However, the most likely case was the the submarines had moved. No sane commander would stick around to be destroyed. So, the Gulls began dropping a series of sonobouys in delta fashion, and once dropped the bouys would unravel their towed arrays from compartments underneath the base, which would uncoil into the ocean. However, these were good to search the mixed layer. It would leave a shadow zone in the deep sound channel, and would only pick up movements in said area if the SONAR ray was lucky enough to reflect into it.

Consequently, a third Gull was was dropping the much larger, much more potent SB-113 sonobouys, which sported a longer towed array, in a box compartment of about twenty by twenty feet. The line would drop to the sound axis channel where it would leave no shadow zone. One by one these monsters were dropped by the Gull around the area of the Praetonian submarine, at least according to the last report. It wouldn't really matter. It was a matter of time. The Gulls could fly much faster than the submarine could sail, at some point one of the sonobouys would pick up a faint registration of the submarine, and the Macabees would respond in kind.

Once the other squadrons of Gulls arrived they would also join in on the effort for the hunt of the Praetonian submarine. It would be found.

[OOC: Well, I thought I read a post where you launched missiles from the submarine. Launch patterns and missile markings would mark the submarine as yours, or one of the 'Praetorian Bloc' (whoever uses your missiles), giving me ample reason to blame your government for it.]

[OOC: The two cities are major cities. So most likely the airfields already exist, as I elusively stated in my post. The transfer of squadrons isn't that difficult, and wouldn't take that much time. My building project is to merely expand the airfields.

Nobody rarely examines the blast in their role plays. Any examination would have been done on the part of Guffingford and Liberated America. My information was based solely on that. Moreover, with modern forensics it would take perhaps a few hours to find a missile plateletted with your flag on it, or reconstruct a frame which resembles a Praetonian missile - meaning, while my planes are landing on their respective airfields, it's already open knowledge that it's your submarine.

Regardless of it, the submarine is there, and I'm hunting it. The point that it's yours has nothing to do with the hunt, because, it's blatantly obvious that there is a submarine in Liberated America's waters.]

[OOC: Well I don't print my flag on missiles... or my name, address, IP number or anything else (yes, I know you mean my nation, not me...), nor do I give nations like yours or Liberated America's information on what they look like and how they're built. I have no objection to you finding out, but claiming not only to instantly know but also instantly build an airbase and instantly transfer planes and then have them out searching is a little far-fetched you have to admit. I'll post when Diablo next posts, but I will also take into account the time it takes to transfer squadrons, reful them, build the airbase for them etc even if you will not.]

[OOC: As I specified before, the airbases were there ages before I even thought about coming. It's only custom for a nation to defend her largest cities with prepared airbases, or are you claiming that Guff's larges cities don't have air defenses? Other than that, the post expands over some four or five hours. My nation is fairly close to him and in five hours I could have easily refueled two small AWACs/Reconaissance aircraft and pitted over the area of Liberated America, since LA is right next to Guffingford. Whether I know it's yours or not doesn't matter, and whether you released information on those missiles or not is moot. No doubt you've used them before, consequently, the information would be well out by now. It's like saying the common internet user knows nothing about the SA-3 GOA. It must be commong knowledge on the basics of the missiles, much like my own weaponry. It doesn't matter if I know it's yours or not. The point is that I do know there's a submarine out there, and I'm going to hunt it.]

<snip>As I specified before, the airbases were there ages before I even thought about coming.<snip>

Here's my take on this.
1. There is no way you mobilized for war, (which you posted took place "over the course of a few days") in the time it takes a sub to get the hell out of your dragnet. Especially considering the equivolent of "fire, then run like hell!!!" was actually RPed, instead of just assumed like most people (bloody good form, Prae).
2. Yes, you know there's a sub in the area, somewhere. You don't have time to examine the wreckage, because it takes a few hours to get the people there, and they have to search for quite a while to even find evidence. Then, they have to somehow link it with Praetonia (not spelled "Praetoria", by the way) which would take quite a lot of sleuthing. If Prae is willing to accept this, I would suggest that we wait for Su to post, and that Macabees knows that the missiles came from Praetonia or her allies but the sub is long gone. Is this acceptable?

[OOC: Hey, apoligies in the highest everyone. My internet died the day after I posted this thread so Im so sorry for any delays. In the meantime...]

Central Command, the Incorporated States of Su^Diablo

Havoc had indeed reached this city. People, of whom were once completely orderly were now running frantically for cover, and although most had gained security within their own, government compolsury bunkers, it could never be said that everyone was safe. For which the most part, the streets were empty, and what had once been a hive of activity now lie in silent wait. The sirens had been wailing for some time now, and although those who had decided to aid the Su^Danese cause in military effort had shot down most of the incoming missiles, and although the nation's own defenses had also shot down just a few of their own, some had managed to reak evil destruction upon the populous.

It could not be said exactly how many had died, for the military and authoritive forces were far too busy with yet another threat, and that was the inbound bombers overhead the skies of this state. Assumed combined Hogsweatian and Skinny forces, they had already unleashed a deadly, and rapid wave of bombs upon the great city. They were right though, for the destruction below could be considered greater than what would be imagined. War had come to this nation, but not until the fires of hell had consumed socialist forces would the leaders, now in a safer location, surrender their nation to an evil and crazed man as Josef. He was a killer.

Still, the forces over the skies of Su^Diablo would never remain uncontested, in relativity. They had certainly recognised the Incorporated States as a reasonable power, enough to distract the leaders of Hogsweat at least. This would be a state of total war, and although the bombs rained around them, the factories mass-producing any weapon available continued without hesitation. They could trust in the Sky Marshalls that the bombers would be destroyed, no matter their might or power down below.

Like lightening they streaked toward their targets, already predetermined by an advanced array of computer systems and equipment. If anyone was to be on the recieving end of these heated missiles, it would be the pilots ahead. Heck, it didnt even look like they knew the danger which leapt toward them. Still, one could not become egotistic, for the underestimation of an enemy was far more dangerous than the own missiles and bullets you were to fire. Im sure though, these babies were more than capable, and soon what had once been a rain of bombs and missiles, would be instantly turned to the rain of firey wreck, falling to the ground below. No man would be spared, for this was the enemy.

BANG! WiSH!

This was the sound of at least a dozen missiles streaking toward their predetarmined targets, perhaps more.

Irony perhaps, however it was probably Karl Marx' greatest downfall to declare God irrelivant to the Socialist Empire he probably envisioned. On this day, above the skies of Su^Diablo, it was most certainly God that these socialists needed to even survive such an incredible defense. For them, it would take a miracle.

***IN THE MEANTIME***

TO: Esteemed Friends of the Su^Danese Assault on Hogsweat
ENCRYPTION: Priority High

"I can only thankyou all friends for your support in our endeavours against the angry threat known as Hogsweat. I have the strongest belief that in the scheme of all things, we will defeat the giant ahead. Still, I also believe that it will also rely on the proper collaboration of our efforts. So I send this message with my own personal opinion, on a relavant course of action.

Firstly, I would like to remove any conflict with Praetonia, as they are only a force regarded as irrelevant to the conflict herein. If they do not stand down, I can only call upon you to enforce the assault directly onto Hogsweatian terrain, with or without them on the battlefield. I for one, know that I cannot manage such an assault without the expliced assistance from a friend or ally. In the meantime, I am quite confident of my ability to fend any attack upon my own shore, save for the previous barrage of ICBM attack.

Perhaps each of you may have some form of an idea yourselves, for I am eager to hear of them.

Yours Truly,

President SuKailar"
