MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENCE PRESS RELEASE
The East Canadian Ministry of National Defence is pleased to announce that our latest project, the Valiant Class nuclear attack submarine, has finally been completed. The lead ship, CFS Valiant, has begun sea trials and will go out on exercise shortly.
Valiant is the direct result of years of research by many teams of engineers and designers all across East Canada. The ship is among the most advanced submarines in the world, primarily because of its revolutionary Magnetohydrodynamic Drive.
The Magnetohydrodynamic Drive was originally developed by the Mistsubishi Corporation of Japan in the early 1990s as a "silent drive" for surface ships. East Canadian engineers have managed to get a working one into a nuclear submarine, thus creating a nearly totally silent submarine- a deadly weapon indeed.
The Valiant is also capable of diving a great distance- we have so far recorded, in tests, depths of 800 ft. The Ministry has been told that greater depths are possible.
Price per ship is estimated to be at $4,500,000,000. The entire development programme has cost the government over $300,000,000,000.
The government has also cleared this for export to foriegn powers.
SPECIFICATIONS
Crew: 105
Displacement: 7,200 tons (submerged)
Length: 325 ft
Beam: 38 ft
Draught: 36 ft
Depth: 800 ft
PERFORMANCE
Propulsion: General Electric Canada 'CN21' Reactor (MHD Generator power)
