Assistance Required to Quash Rebellion

Calamina Island

Hello nations of the world. My name is Jeffrey Ogdan, president of Calamina Island, a small tropical paradise which has recently gained independence from the Bostran Empire.

Nine days ago, Calamina Island annexed the Dumath Islands, a tiny archepelago of about 14 atolls, 6 of them inhabited. Although the tribal leaders on each island agreed to the annexation, there were some who didn't want to be part of a civilized society.

A newly-formed terrorist group, calling itself "Free Dumath", has been terrorizing the police force currently working in in the Dumath Islands for the past week. So far, three police officers have been injured in fire fights, and one was killed when his patrol boat was hit with a RPG-7. Seven terrorists and one civilian have also been killed. Events reached a climax yesterday evening.

At 23:45, A delivery van packed with plastic explosives pulled up in front of the famed Banana Garden Hotel on Calamina Island's famed Sand Strip. The driver of the van then exited the vehicle and walked to a cafe three blocks away. He triggered the explosive through a remote control disguised as a cell phone. The blast levelled Banana Garden and seriously damaged several buildings around it. The death toll at this moment stands at over 350, with over 500 injured.

We here on Calamina Island are currently in no position to fully deal with this terrorist threat. We ask foreign aid from larger, more powerful nations in response to this terrible atrocity.

Official Statement:
If you wish, the Kingdom of Malkyer is willing to use the Royal Navy to "negotiate" with the terrorists. We have no tolerance for groups such as these, and would like to help in any way possible. Let us know if we can be of service.

We thank you kindy, Kingdom of Malkyer. The tracing of telephone calls have traced Free Dumath's headquarters to Gilligar Atoll, previously thought to be uninhabited. Most likely a naval bombardment from your Royal Navy would effectively deal with the main threat. We must still watch for possible sleeper cells, however.

The kingdom of Faridon would be honored to help your nation in this campaign against terrorism. As this message is being written, our 12th fleet is being sent to you nation. Negotiation, is NOT an option here Jeffery.

Our armed forces could most definitely use the practice. Please give us all necessary intelligence on terrain, intelligence and the enemy and we will be glad to send in reinforcements to quash the terrorists.

I can send my 14th Special Force Army. It is enough to squash any type of terroist movement.

Bridge of the RN carrier Jameson:
Admiral Horowitz leaned against a wall in the carrier bridge, getting ready to address the crew.

"Now hear this. In a few hours we're going to arrive at the Gilligar Atoll, which is owned by Calamina Island. Their governmen has asked for assistance in dealing with a terrorist organization, and Malkyer has answered the call. We're going to hit these bastards hard and fast. We'll bombard them from the sea for half an hour, then send in a strike force of Marines. We expect to be done in a couple of days at most. Your officers will have further details. That is all."

Gilligar Atoll, several hours later:
As the ships appeared offshore, cannons and missiles were targeted on areas where suspected terrorist positions were believed to be. After a moment, the guns of the Royal Navy let loose a fiery barrage of missiles and shells, which cam crashing down onto the island in a scene reminiscent of some World War II documentry.

Once the bombardment had been going strong for twenty minutes, assault boats laden with Royal Marines departed the protection of the larger fleet, and sped toward the shore. Onboard, the sergeants and officers gave their men a final talk.

"Remember, we don't know what's out there. Not likely much in the way of defenses survived the barrage, but I'd rather be over-cautious, given a choice. When we hit the beach, keep your heads down and rifles up. Now let's kill these sunzabitches..." The talks varied a little in grammar word choice, but all carried essentially the same message.

In a few more minutes, the Marines would hit the gorund and begin hunting for these rebels...

OOC: I'll finish the landing as soon as you post the rebel's reaction to the barrage and the damage it caused, Calamina.

Imperial message to President Jeffery Ogdan
The Empire of Deatharon condems the actions of terrorists. The Empire would gladly spare some ground forces to help occupy the area in question and hunt down the terrorists if need be.

The People of Hammers Slammers cannot condone the actions taken by the rebels, however, we cannot condone the use of excessive force against civilians and other indiginous personnel. As such we will be monitoring this situation very closely to prevent atrocities by both sides, if any acts of a... questionable nature are committed by either side the offenders will be hunted down with all necessary force. The perpetrators will be eliminated regardless of affiliation with the rebellion or the armed forces.

We would like to assure the people of Hammers Slammers that we, as always, will respect the laws of war and the Fourth Geneva Convention. We have never condoned war crimes, and it is unthinkable that we would perpetrate them ourselves.

I echo Hammers concerns and wonder if your allies will do the same thing in their interactions with the populace.

We cannot speak for the other nations that have offered assistance, but as of right now the Royal Navy is the only military force engaged at the Gilligar Atoll. No other aid has been accepted by the Calaminan government as of yet.

OOC: The island was previously thought the be uninhabited, meaning there isn't likely any significant civilian population.

We thank all nations, especially the Kingdom of Malkyer, who assisted my people in our time of need. Patrol boats and choppers have surveyed what is left of Gilligar Atoll and there appears to be no sign of life.

Meanwhile, this morning at 09:34, a police raid on a warehouse in the outskirts of Port Calamina resulted in a fierce fire fight between police and the remaining members of Free Dumath. One policeman was killed and a police cruiser destroyed by an RPG-7, but all the terrorists were eventually killed or apprehended.

Once again, thank you.

Would you like the Kingdom to establish a military base in your nation, to help discourage further such groups from taking violent action?

Dear Jeffrey Ogdan,

The government and people of the Republic of Romney Island offers their condolences to our fellow human beings in Calamina Island following the horrifying terrorist attack last night. We do not condone such behaviour - it is an attack on the principles of humanity.

Romney Island do not have the military capability to assist in dealing these rebels. However, we would like to offer our humble island as a neutral location for peace talks, as military action might make things worse.

If you are amenable to my offer, perhaps you could grant permission for an approach to be made to the leader of Free Dumath to make the same offer.

Yours sincerely,

Anthonia Campbell-Petronsky
President of Romney Island
