Reagton Celebrates First Day of Independence;President Pleads for Help

A crowd of over 300,000 crowded the streets of Deton, a city in near the middle of the area that would soon be a free and democratic Reagton. The majority of the crowd was gathered around a large, pristine, white building focusing on its balcony where a group of men and women, mostly in military uniform, were standing. Then a tall and dark haired man walked onto the balcony and approached the microphone which had been set up earlier. His voice boomed across the crowd, "Ladie and gentleman, I have just received word from our diplomats on the other side of the world. As of noon, Reagton is no longer a colony! We are finally a free nation!"

The announcement was met with a boom of approval from the crowd and a chant began, "Brill! Brill! Brill!" They were chanting the name of the man who had made the announcement, General Steven R. Brill. For three years he had been the leader of the "nation's" army, fighting ferociously against the imperialist and foreign forces which had controlled the area for over a century. As to many it was he who had won the victory, it came as no surprise when the Reagton Governing Council, a temporary government set up to appoint officials, draft a constitution, and hold elections in the future, named Brill as Reagton's first President.

Later that night, as the crowd still celebrated in the streets with fireworks and native Reagton music, the new president sat down in the government's temporary headquarters with a small group of advisors. He said, "Okay, we've got our freedom. Now what?" The group was just as confused as he was about founding and establishing a new nation, but they decided to try their best anyways always saying, "God help us if we're wrong..."

As dawn broke the group was still discussing what to do. They had already decided what to do about the military (the one that had won their independence would stay intact) and the economic problems the nation faced, and they soon realized they would need help. President Brill, not wanting to spend too much time on any single issue, quickly took out a piece of paper and scribbled a note on it.

"As I am sure you have all been amde aware of by your leading diplomats the colony of Reagton became a free and independent nation today. We have finally reached our long awaited goal of freedom and self-determination. As a young nation, we will need help from foreign and more established nations. If any nation could sacrifice so much as an advisor to help our cause, it would not be forgotten. We are also looking to have foreign nations establish embassies in our new nation. Again, any help would not be forgotten and any helping nation will find a devoted ally in Reagton. Thank you.
Steven G. Brill
Temporary President of Reagton"

He quickly passed the note off to an aide and said, "Send this to as many nations as possible." And with that he went back to building the dream he had fought so hard for.

Praetor James Raynor, received that message through his extremely advanced computer system, a small gift from the large corporation that is the "economic powerhouse" of Tarisi.

A microphone came out of the heavily electronic desk, ironnicly named "Desk-Top Mark IIX" Then, the praetor spoke into the Mic.

"Steven G. Bill, this is Praetor James Raynor of The Tarisian Empire. We received your message, even though our goverment types are different, our peoples are quite intrested in making a treaty or 2, and we would also like to trade some of our hi-tech computer technology. Please feel free to have a message wired to my desk. Good Bye, and Good Day."

Reagton would prefer Gyrobot not to advise us who to work, trade, and communicate with. We have fought too hard and seen too many good men die to have our policy influenced by a foreign power.

We have seen no problem with either nation you spoke of, and will continue to open relations with them.

Done. I don't beleive we would have more than 30 to spare anyways.

A building has been prepared for your nation's embassy in Deton, our nation's capital. We also ask that you keep your security forces small, our citizens are very wary of foreign troops being in the country after we have sacrificed so much to get them off. Any number below 50 should be fine.

Official Imperial Communique

We shall dispatch the assigned Imperial diplomatic staff and a contingent of 15 Imperial Praetorian Guardsmen to serve as security immediately. With regard to your armed forces, though we do not doubt the will or the courage of your men, we fear that their numbers may prove eventually inadequate in the event of an invasion by a larger foreign power, and so shall extend the offer of a protectorate pact until the time that you possess a more adequate armed force.

With regard to economic agreements, the Empire proposes free and open trade between our two nations, and an abolition of any standing or future tariffs on goods from each respective nation.
