PRESS RELEASE TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
Greetings,
We of the Schrijveran people are looking for major investors into our nation. We need to rebuild our infrastructure and plan the construction of Nova Reykjavik. I am offering SCH$100,000,000 (SCH$ = US$4.5) for the construction project to build Nova Reykjavik.
Requirements for Nova Reykjavik:
CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE ARCHITECTURE
Prince Talos has decreed that his people should be well-housed, but his populace are at an impasse as to the architecture of the planned city. Prince Talos himself finds the architecture of Old Reykjavik tasteful, but he realises it may not be appropriate. The area where Nova Reykjavik is to be constructed is highly swampy and endowed with many rivers. The architecture should reflect the community: 32% Japanese descent, 32% Australian descent, 32% Dutch descent. The remaining 4% are indigeneous to the area, but are surprisingly vocal and demand to be allowed their own Maori-style longhouses to live in. Schrijvera concedes to these demands, and the natives are constructing their own residences away from where Nova Reykjavik is to be constructed, but what of the rest of the people? It is for this reason that we are inviting construction corporations to display examples of their architecture so the Ruling Council may make a decision.
ADEQUATE FACILITIES
Agricultural Industry - Schrijvera needs food, and new crops to feed its people. There is a legislation against GMO foods, as they are believed to be a negative influence to the people. Japanese cuisine is in demand, but whale meat is out of the question. Schrijveran gouda is a specialty, and if it finds a good market, it could help our economy rely less and less on uranium.
Industrial Sector - Schrijvera needs an industry, and industry needs power. We are at an impasse as to what power source to use. The Japanese are in favour of nuclear power, the Australians oil, and the Dutch and natives alternative energies. We also hope to expand from mere basket weaving to key industries. We are willing to offer land for corporations, but Prince Talos likes to be informed privately of the corporations that he may consider hosting in his country.
Residential Area - Schrijvera wants a suitable architectural style for the residential areas. Apartment blocks are being planned, with suburbs being considered long-term as Nova Reykjavik grows.
Commercial Area - Schrijvera is, to say the least, not faring well. Schrijvera is planning the construction of an airport, and the state has announced the birth of Schrijveran Airlines, providing flights to Schrijvera from mainland Australia. A seaport will also be needed for Nova Reykjavik to secure communication between the islands and abroad.
Military - Schrijvera is hereby requesting schematics of blueprints of military designs. Schrijvera's terrain is consistent with that of countries such as Fiji, Noumea, New Zealand and Japan.
Infrastructure - Prince Talos has announced the creation of a state television service. We need people to help with the construction of the TV service, the post office, and paved roads for Nova Reykjavik.
Spiritual centres - Religious composition of Nova Reykjavik is consistent with its ethnicities: the Japanese are largely Shinto-Buddhist, the Dutch are a mix of Protestant, Catholic and New Age, and the Australians are an even mix of Protestant and New Age. All in all, 32% Protestant, 32% Shinto-Buddhist, 16% Catholic, 14% New Age and 2% indigeneous religions. Prince Talos himself is an agnostic, but he sees the need to satisfy the demands that his people make for places of worship.
Hall of Records/Library/Entertainment - to store records and to give people something to read. Entertainment is needed as well, with sports such as soccer and baseball are very popular.
Sewers - the reason is quite obvious.
We are inviting corporations to place their dossier here, or to telegram us, and make your intentions within our borders clear. Prince Talos will approve a corporation on a case-by-case basis. However, as soon as a corporation has been deemed to be acting against the interests of our people, Prince Talos has decreed that it would be removed at the most pertinent opportunity.
