"A small village somethere in Pushkan controlled Afghanistan"

We are a great and nobel people
We know what courage is
We know what honor is
Nobody neither our allies nor our enemies can deny that
Then why?! Why?! I ask you my people
Why do we suffer a choking grip of another people?!
Why do we fight each other then we need to unite?!
We must fight back, we must not let our nemesis maintain controll over our lands.
This day is a great day! For on this day sons of our land have united and on this day we shall strike against our enemies and fight for our freedom.
Other nations will aid us they just need to know that we are here and we want freedom, we want democracy!
It takes only a small spark to start a flame that will burn the whole forest down!
Let us prey to Alah for quick victory and for painful death to our enemies!
PRAISE ALAH!

"A man who was talking was standing on a wooden podeum just half a meter above the crowd. Behind him were standing 6 men with AK-74s. People who he was talking to were all dirty, wearing cheap clothing, most of them carried AK-74 and 47, most of them didn't have shoes. As he yelled the last part of his speech. A huge portrait was carried out on the podeum, on it was Alexey Chorni, Pushkan Prime Minister. Once the man on the podeum finished his speech he was handed a torch, the crowd continued chanting "PRAISE ALAH". He put the torch against the portrait and lit it on fire. Suddenly the rain began to pour down, it stopped the fire, but the portrait was already burned beyond recognition."

Man: See this! Alah is on our side, he will give us the strength to set ablaze the Pushkan dogs and then he will give us peace and stability so we can live better lives. PRAISE ALAH!

"The people on the streets continued chanting and raising their weapons in the air"

"Three days later in Pushka's capitol's Kremlin Alexey Chorni enjoyed his afternoon tea in his Kremlin apartment, sitting in the chair opposite to the TV, reading a book.

An fat, elderly man rushed into the room, it was Sergei Andropov, head of National Security department. As he entered the room he picked up the TV remote from the kitchen counter and turned on the TV. Alexey slowly raised his eyes from the book"

Alexey: What do you want?

"Sergei turned on the TV and started flipping the channels"

Sergei: Comrade Prime Minister, i think you should see this.

"Finally Sergei stopped, on the screen was an Afghan man in a cheap suit speaking in Afghan language. Alexey leaned over in his chair towards the TV"

Alexey: What am i looking at?

Sergei: There was an incident in Afghanistan, an terrorist group started broadcasting their message from a remote, mobile location which we are still unable to pick up. He is rallying the Afghans to rise up and resist Pushka.

Alexey: I see and we can't kill him and his supporters because that way they would be considered a marder. He is a smart fellow, well then we still have to kill him, use the "Red Devils" and make sure that this won't make too much noise internationally. I don't want a whole blown conflict with other countries offering peacekeepers. Pushkan military is not to hunt the rebels, to anyone who already heard this Kremlin's position is that "we do not bother ourselves with dealing with such people and will not take military action against them unless they do so against us". Meanwhile I want your people to present a plan to me by tommorrow and i want this to be taken care of by the end of the week. Off you go.

"Sergei left the room calmly. He now had "Red Devils" army at his disposal, nothing could stop him."

"Pushkan military had tried as hard as it could to jam the rebel transmission and not let it go on to the international level. In Pushkan controlled Afghanistan, all the internet services were jammed and all the TV and radio signal transmitters were turned off. Even so nobody could pin point the exact location of the rebels.

At 12:13 AM on a Sunday morning a short, five second transmission was picked up by every nation on the globe. It was a radio transmission."

"Sir! Our neighbors in Pushka seem to be in trouble!" said the transmission officer. Seing how Afghanistan was one of the most troublesome locations(with drugs running amok), the Afghanistani Governor had access to the best in tracking and jamming technologies.

Governor Pervez Al-Halud walked over to the computer screen that the officer was looking at. The officer then pressed the play button which then said the message.

The governor thought for a second and said, "What is the main use of computers in the rebel areas?"

"We are not sure, sir, but it seems that they are at least well hooked up to the internet."

"Excelent. Set up the hacker squad and tell them to eliminate all computers in rebellious areas. Get working right away, and I'll send the word of our actions to the Pushkans..."

Coded message from Governor Pervez Al-Halud
We have begun to permanently take down all electronic and computer devices in areas that we have noticed heavy unrest. If you wish for us to stop, we shall, but we believe that if we cripple the rebels access to computers they won't grow as fast.

Also, if you like, we have alot of experience in poorly-armed militias due to our anti-drug activities. If you'd like,we have a regiment of 570 men we can send to help you. First we'll try to dissuade our fellow Muslims from this silly rebellion but if that fails, we will defeat them with brutal efficency.

Pushka has no position on this and does not regard this incident as anything to care about. The internet access has already been cut off for all of Pushkan controlled Afghanistan. We ask you not to interfere because there is simply no need to.

OOC: Here is the deal, Pushka doesn't want to openly confront the rebels (who didn't do any terrorist acts yet, but they will) because that would only give the rebels more support, in order to avoid any sort of bloodshed on Pushkan side a special Covert ops Army was charged with the task of killing the rebel leader and making it look like an accident. I actually hoped for someone sympathetic to the rebels to join in (some democracy nut) to create more tension.

"In Voronej, Alexey just finished reading Cottish message"

Alexey: This might be trouble. If we don't let those observers in we will let the rest of the world know that something is going on, we will have to let them in. Damn!

"Alexey picked up a phone on his desk and pressed a 5 on the dial"

Alexey: Sergei, i want you to hurry and take care of this. What is keeping you so long?! Why isn't that guy dead yet?!

Sergei: We have trouble locating him Comrade Prime Minister. We have planted a long-term informant into his system, but that will take time.

Alexey: We don't have time. Do you have some kind of perimeter in which he might be?

Sergei: Yes of course, we know he is hiding in the set of caves and we know where those caves are.

Alexey: What is the size of the perimeter?

Sergei: 130 killometers.

Alexey: If you do not solve this in 3 days i will screw the secrecy and order a Vaccum warhead launch on that area, understood?!

Sergei: Yes comrade Prime Minister.

Hacker Central.

The name itself strikes fear into the hearts of webmasters, computer techies, and basically everyone else who knows anything about computers. Of course, almost everyone thought that it was just an "urban legend" of sorts. Few actually believed that someone would actually create a place where hackers roamed free, with access to all that they desired.

They were wrong.

In the recent technological revolution of Carthage, many different technologies were accepted by the government and people as a whole. Genetic research had offical backing from the government, AI was being studied in every university, 100% of the population had access to a computer, 80% of those with access to the internet, and 50% of thosehad access to broadband. From all over the world, technologists were swarming to this neo-eden. And the government was willing to use this power to their advantage.

The government had commissioned Hacker Central a year ago, and since then nearly all groups that dis-aprove of the government, have commited crimes, etc, have had their computers go haywire and have been brought to their knees. The government had ordered that Hacker Central stop the rebels, and they were going to, but the Pushkans said they didn't want their help. So, the Hackers were ordered to stand down.

Of course, Hackers don't always listen to orders.

Hacker Central. Location=Unknown

The heart of HC is the Hacking Room, where most of the hacking takes place. It is, of course, in an un-known location and is heavily guarded. The room itself is very large, with over 300 computers lining its windowless walls. On the roof there is a simulated sky, which breaks down occasionally, but the hackers don't care. There are usually only 40 people in there at a time, at all hours of the day, and everyone is almost always drinking coffee.

On computer number 37, Bavor Pacek was searching through his mail when he saw the order to "Stop all hacking activities against the rebels in Pushka". He scoffed at the message, and then called for his buddy.

"Hey Hanz, get a look at this!"

"Hanz", a former citizen of North Germania and one of Europe's best hackers, walked over to the screen.

"Those Pushkans think they don't need our help, eh? I got something that will burst their bubble."

Hanz then walked back to his computer(Number 3) and typed into the system announcer. His message read;

"These Pushkans think they don't need our help. Well, let's show them what would have happened to the rebels if we had taken down their computers."

The hackers in the room cheered and got to work. Some of them went to go awake their friends who they thought would be interested, and soon over 250 of the computers were busy with activites.

The Pushkans would see what happens when you mess with Hacker Central.

"Sergei was sweating heavily now, they tried for 48 hours now and couldn't locate the rebel leader. Something needed to be done or Sergei knew it was his head that would fall off by the end of the 3 days. The separate rotas of "Red Devil" army have patrolled the area around and inside the caves without any success. The initial plan was to make it seem like one of the Afghani people, in no way related to the Pushkan gov't, shot the rebel leader. After the rebel boss was dead and a scape goat was found Sergei already planned for a giant media campaign to make everyone believe in his story. In the end everybody exept the rebels and the scape goat was to be left happy. The scape goat would go in prison for life for vialation of Pushkan law through murder of a fellow citizen. The rebels would be disbanded, and after few months have passed and the incident became old news nobody was interested in, every singel rebel would suffer an unfortunate "accident" like for example being run over twice by the same car, or sliping on the floor andfalling on a bullet.

However if the leader was not killed, the scape goat, the rebels and thousands of innocent people would die from a V-bomb, most terrible weapon in possession of Pushkan nuclear forces. A shockwave and radiation spread diameter of 500 killometers will leave non alive. Including Sergei Vladimirovich Andropov who would suffer conviniently suffer a stroke few days after the explosion and his resegnation. Exploding the bomb would later be blamed on him or the now deceased rebel leader.

Thinking about all of this made Sergei sweat even more. He woken up from his apocalyptical day-dreaming by a knock on the door."

Sergei: Come in, who is it?

"A man came in, he was wearing a black rain combinizon of the Red Devil army. The symbol sawn onto his shoulderpad indicated that he was a battalion leader"

Sergei: What is it Grisha? (short for Gregorie)

Gregori: Just came by to give you a report. I took a liberty of knowing about your last conversation with the boss. If it makes you feel any better, i will probably be inside the bomb's blast radius then it explodes.

"Sergei grinned"

Sergei: That does make me feel a bit better, thank you. What is that report you were talking about?

Gregorie: Oh yeah, we have decreased the perimeter to 50 killometers now. If it comes down to it we can just do a bloody sweep, i am sure your media coverage will be able to make everyone believe that those people were all a bunch of drug-growing, canibalistic savages who deserved to die, or something of that sort. Of course i would like to avoid this, killing women and children isn't my thing, but this is about saving my own ass. However i am always open to suggestions from my superior officer. That would be you Sergei. Do you have any suggestions?

Sergei: You can't do a blood sweep. No matter how much i'll try to make it seem okay where we always be room open for suspicion and then in few years we'll have self-proclaimed "survivors" of the massacre poping up under protection of other nations trying to squeeze our gov't for few million rubels of pocket money.

Gregorie: I don't see any other way, plus we will have a few year head start to run away before it will all turn around and make us dead.

Sergei: Alexey has many flaws, stupidity is however not one of them. He will know what we are trying to do and act on it accordingly.

Gregorie: So now bloody sweep. What else? We can not find him in two days.

"Sergei suddenly had a look of a man who got himself an enlightment"

Sergei: Cotland might.

Gregorie: What do you mean?

Sergei: The rebels have no idea of the position of Cottish gov't. We have Cottish special forces coming over. They can say that Cotland condemns Pushka for restricting freedom and supports the rebels, or some crap like that, lure the rebel leader out for a meeting. And then we kill him.

"Gregorie looked puzzled for a minute but then he got it"

Gregorie: Shit, you are a freaking genious! I am gonna live!

Sergei: Go prepare you man, you'll need a damn good sniper, better yet a rota full of damn good snipers. I will give the word to Cotland. Go now!

"Gregorie left the room feeling very happy. Sergei called Alexey and told him about the plan, Alexey aprooved but without any enthusiasm. After that Sergei made few emergency calls to Cotland, explaining his plan. He left no details, he considered it a miracle that Alexey didn't bury him for this."

OOC: Your move, Cotland.

The Boeing 737-800 landed at the airport where the Pushkan forces had their HQ. Out stepped eleven men dressed in non-descript clothes, each carrying a large bag. They were quickly ushered into a minibus and driven off to the "Red Devils".

Once there, the eleven men dropped their bags and started to change. Inside the bags were, in addition to the clothes, a whole arsenal of weapons. Two M45A1 pistols, a MP-5K submachine gun and, since they were going to show as little out of the picture as possible, an AK-103 assault rifle. The men were dressed in Afghan clothing over their black battledresses, so they would be as non-descript as possible. Each man was growing a beard, because that was normal for the Afghan men to have.

They would go and locate the man, the rebel leader, and manage to pursuade him to come with on an interview. This would provide the Pushkans with an excellent occasion to assassinate him. The Cots were black ops, meaning that they did not exist, and were not acknowledged by the Cottish government. In case of capture or death, the Cottish government would deny any knowledge of the men. They all knew and accepted this.

As the men walked into the briefing room in the Pushkan HQ, they did not lay down their weapons. They were in unknown areas, and would always have a weapon nearby. Each man therefor carried his two pistols in holsters accessable from the pockets of the overcoat, a SMG just inside the overcoat, and the assault rifle in the front.

"I am Mr. Smith. Where do you believe the last known position of the target is?"

"The room was now filled with people, most of them were Pushkans. All were sitted behind a huge round table. Sergei replied to the question, at the same time standing up and turning on the projector that was on the table."

Sergei: This is a projection of a map of the area, here are the locations that we are currently sweeping and the ones that we have already looked into. What we need you to do is to go into this village of Alkai'Sadum and tell the locals your legend. Which is that you are Cottish soldiers that sneacked into the Pushkan territory in order to make a deal that would benefit both the rebels and the Cottish gov't. Also add some flavor to it, make up a reason why Cotland suddenly became discontent with Pushka. Make it a good one. You will depart tomorrow morning, it is arranged that a transport truck will deliver you to the village, you are to claim to the rebels you come in contact with that you have bribed the truck driver into delivering you to the village. You will be the only ones inside the truck.

Here is a more detailed legend you must memorize by tomorrow.

"Sergei's assistant gave each Cottish soldier a yellow folder"

Sergei: After making contact you are to report to this HQs about the location of the meeting and arrive to that location, we will take care of the rest. In case of any difficulty you can contact us by NSR-121 radio, it's transmission can not be captured and traced. If you have anything to say, say it now or you will be escorted to your quarters. The mission starts at 9:00 o'clock of tomorrow morning. Any questions?"

"What do we have in terms of backup?" the team leader asked. His team were memorizing the plans and maps already. They were well trained. He himself already had a good idea of why they would be there in the village.

The Cottish government had apparently become more estrangered with Pushka after the death of Ivan Mishin, and they would now apparently use any means to weaken Pushka. That was why the Cots had come to Afghanistan. To create division in Pushkan hearts about their government and bring down said government. In exchange, the Afghans would get to rule Afghanistand and Cottish protection from any aggressors. That was the cover story, and it checked out well.

Sergei: Do you see this men in the black combinizones around you?

"Sergei moved his hand around the room"

Sergei: They will be your cover, do not worry, they can have everyone in that village with the bullet in the head in under a minute. Plus it is unprobable that the Afghan rebels would want to do anything that would attract attention after so much effort to stay underground. They know that they can not win conventional warfare, they also know that if we catch enough of them one of them will crack so they will not form large, noticable groups. Anything else?

Hacker Central

The hackers at HC were busy working on restoring internet to the rebels. The Pushkans had used an advanced internet jam. It would be impossible for any hacker that the rebels had to break through, seeing how it was military issue. Most hackers couldn't even scratch the surface of the jam.

But the hackers at Hacker Central weren't "most hackers".

They swarmed over the block, using every program in their possesion and using the vast amount of information they had. They even wrote new programs to try and break though. After 5 hours, they had only broken through the first layer of the three-layer jam.

Batou (http://www.ghostintheshell.tv/bios/batou-action.jpg), one of the top 6 hackers, slammed his fist down in anger. "This is taking too long!". His companion, Togusa (http://www.ghostintheshell.tv/bios/togusa-action.jpg) responded by saying, "Don't worry, Tachikoma-scouting program should be able to find the weakness soon enough." Ten seconds later, a small robot-shaped image appeared on the screen. "Batou-san! We have found the weak spot in the system!"

"Excelent!" exclaimed Batou as he told everyone the news. The hackers all focused their efforts on the weak spot, and lo-and-behold, the jam was down and out within a half-hour.

"Let's see if they need our help now," said Batou with a smirk on his face.

Oh, and don't forget I own part of Afghanistan. So I could just happen to leak power into your country.

Also, you can't know that the Carthaginians are behind it. It's impossible to know where Hacker Central is, but I'll give you a hint: It isn't on the Carthaginian Mainland.

And, again, you can't trace physical location. Just IP adress. Tracing the actual location would require alot of time. A lot of time.

Especially if the place isn't on most maps.

Batou looked at the attacks on the system and smiled. This guy is good, I have to admit. The Pushkan had actually figured out their IP adress. Well, at least Batou's diversion adress. Still, that took a lot of skill. He could go far here. Just then, the attack broke through and brought down Batous diversion computer and had turned it's sights on his regular computer. Eyes opened wide, Batou smiled to himself as he initiated the defence programs. Finally, I get to see what it's like to be on the recieving end of a virus.

This virus was smart. It sent attack programs to take down the key part of the outer firewall. Of course, Batou responded with taking down half of the virus's attacking capability. The Virus responded by finishing off the outer firewall and attacking the main firewall. Sweating his brow, Batou took out his best counter-virus and watched as it and the virus exchanged malicous data. The country-virus was taken down after 3 minutes. "Shit," muttered Batou under his breath as the virus once again diverted it's attention towards the main firewall. Of course, by now the Virus was heavily damaged and moving at a slow rate, so Batou initiated his virus-capture program and captured the virus.

Heaving a sigh of relief, Batou poured himself another coffee and began to order the firewall to repair itself. He sent the contained virus to one of the analyzers and tried to figure out how to improve the firewall. First, however, he had to get a new IP.

Osarchuk: Shit, we almost had them. Pasha go call the boss, tell him that the location we gave him is wrong.

"Pasha picked up the phone and dialed the number"

Pasha: Comrade head of department?... This is Pavel Bobrov speaking.... We have given you a wrong location during our last report.... Yes that is right, they tricked us...Our attempts have so far failed...

"Andrei was furious, he now could not contact the Chaika bomber, ICG kept all the radio transmissions from reaching the bomber."

Andrei: Tell Osarchuk that because of his mistake we might have just started a war with another nation.

"Far away over one of the cities in main-land Carthage a small cubic object was rapidly falling from the sky. Upon reaching the distance 30 meters away from the ground the object exploded, shattering into a millsion pieces. An even smaller rectangular device completed its fall to the ground. Once it was on it, a green light in the bulb in the middle of the device changed to red and the whole object exploded. A microwave of high intensity has sweeped the streets of the city. All computers, conductors, any sort of equipment that used electricity was now destroyed. All that was left of the object were few pieces of melted plastic"

OOC: You can not know that Pushka did it, E-bomb is a national secret and Chaika bomber uses plasma stealth meaning there is no way in the world your radars can spot it. Only light seeking sensors or visual confirmation can spot it. And i doubt that you got someone just looking for the lights in the sky then you have a radar that can catch solid objects.

OOC: Ok(ab00t the E-bomb).

But, just to let you know, you really can't know of the Hackers(at least where they are). They are a national Secret ;).

Anyhoo, only about 10 people in the government know where Hacker Central is. And trust me, they aren't about to reveal it any time soon.

IC:

Carthage

"Fuck, fuck, and double fuck!" yelled President Akahi as he looked out of his windows to see a bunch of melted plastic on the ground and the city of Carthage in ruins. Plastic lay scattered on the ground as the city was devoid of all electrical objects. Almost all buildings in the entire city were crippled, and out in the harbor boats were slowly sinking. In the streets people lay dead due to the destruction of the objects. Only essential government and civic buildings remained, due to the fact that they were new and made to defend against such an attack. Of course, the attack was far stronger than what everyone expected, so large sections of these buildings were damaged as well.

"Mister President! You must go underground! We don't know what sort of affects this will have on the people!" exclaimed one of Akahi's guards. The Presidential palace had a secret underground bunker that was safe from all sorts of attack, including attacks such as this. Although the President wished to be with his people, he knew that the best way to help them would be from the bunker.

"All right, lets go..."

As Batou looked at the computer screen, a younger courier ran through the door.

"They've used a device similar to an EMP on the capital!"

Batou just chuckled and said, "Don't worry, the city could easily withstand an EMP."

"But this wasn't a normal EMP! Think of it as an EMP nuke. The entire city has been wiped of all electronic devices, save the ones in key government locations.

That wiped the smirk off of Batous face immediatly. "Call the major!" he yelled at the courier and then turned to the assembled hackers. "Alright men. We need to figure out where that E-bomb came from."

A hacker in the crowd said, "Lt.?"

"Yes, Russel?"

"Well sir, it may be the Pushkans. They may be angry at us for breaking their jam."

"That's true, but would the Pushkans destroy thousands of our lives because of that?"

"Possibly, sir. Those Russians are a bit-hot headed."

"Well, that's one possibility. Alright. I want 20 of you investigating if it was Pushka. 20 more of you will work of if it was the Sons of the Blue Crescent(OOC:a radical terrorist group in Carthage), and 20 more of you working on the Brotherhood of the Desert(OOC:a terrorist group focused on returning Carthage to it's pre-technological revolution days). OOC: Well i don't know if an E-bomb would do so much damage, i mean the microwave can fry processor circuits and ellectric conductors, even car batteries. So planes and helicopters would fall from the sky, cars would stop functioning, all the electricity will stop flowing, also there might be some fire from the sparks that wires make then they fry, humans and buildings shouldn't be physically affected, unless by a fire or something like that. Also this was not a did of Pushkan gov't but of Andrei himself. The following morning, the eleven Cottish black ops walked down the road to the Afghan village, clutching their weapons. They were wearing Cottish BDUs under a overcoat that looked Afghan in origin, in addition to their weapons. As they approached, they called out that they were coming in peace in the name of Allah, and that the Afghans now were oblidged by the holy Koran to protect them since they were guests. If the insurgents denied this, they weren't religious at all. Simple as that.

After they had been introduced, three men sat down with the rebels while the other eight protected them.

"We are Cottish soldiers, here on a secret mission from the Emperor of Cotland. We want help you against Pushka with arms and money, and protect your new nation from foreign agression in exchange for you giving Pushka a living hell here. We must discuss this further, and soon. The details will be debated further in a place of your chosing. Just make sure that you let us know where it will take place in advance, ok?"

Sarum'Baklan: You say you come from Cotland, what proof you have of this?

"One of the Cotsmen showed the documents. Sarum'Baklan carefully looked over the papers"

Sarum'Baklan: It all seems in order.

"He then smiled"

Sarum'Baklan: Praise Alah, you are yet another blessing from him!

"He made a sign to one of his guards and the guard laid out a map on the table"

Sarum'Baklan: Here will be the place of our metting, our leader Hadji'Murat will meet you in this place today, during the sunset. For now you may go and rest, my house is yours.

"Sarum'Baklan exited the room. Once on the street he called up a 12 year old boy who was leaning against a wall of his house, he began speaking to him in Afghan language"

Sarum'Baklan: Carry a message to Hadji'Murat. We have guest from Cotland that wish to meet him. He will know the location.

"The boy ran off only to return half an hour later with the reply."

----The Message from Hadji'Murat------

The leader of the Cottish black ops team had sent the location of the meet to the Pushkan HQ, and now they were checking their weapons one final time. The AK was a great weapon. Sturdy, reliable and steady under fire once you got used to it. If something were to happen, they could be shooting in less then a second after they discovered the threath. They were going to need it.

When the Afghan came and told them to get ready, the team leader thought it was rather quick of them to start heading off to the meeting. Using covert handsignals that the Afghans didn't detect, he told his team to stay vigilant. As a result, the Cots turned the safety of their weapons off and clutched them just a tad closer. Nothing that could be recognized by the Afghans. They were all wearing kevlar vests underneath the clothes as well. It was time for them to go outside.

"Major! We've got a problem! It seems that the Pushkans are suddenly shutting down internet access to all of Afghanistan."

Major Motoko Kusanagi (http://www.ghostintheshell.tv/bios/kusanagi-action.jpg) silently thought in her head. If the Pushkans are trying to shut out their entire internet, they must be hiding something. "How many men do you have looking in on the Pushkan probability?"

Togusa cut in and said, "20 men, Major."

"Alright, take the men working on the SBC and get them working on Pushka."

"But Major! How do we know it wasn't them?"

"The SBC is devoted to the glory of Carthage. They wouldn't destroy our capital and kill..." she looked over at the offical death report, "70,128 people and injure 592,024. Not to mention make over 47 million homeless."

Batou nodded in agreement. He then turn to where the hackers working on the SBC were, "You heard the Major! Get to work on Pushka!" He then turned to the man who was investigating the virus sent at them. "How are you progressing?"

Ishikawa (http://www.ghostintheshell.tv/bios/ishikawa-action.jpg), the head Virus and counter-virus expert, looked up from his computer. "It appears to have been made using Russian programming code," he explained in a calm and wise voice." Unfortunatly, that still means that many countries could have made it."

"What about it's abilities?"

"I was getting to that!" snapped Ishikawa. "It appears that this virus is one of the best out there." He smiled and said, "Not as good as one of ours, of course, but good enough."

"How come the counter-virus couldn't stop it?"

"Because you forgot to update your anti-virus, idiot! Anyhoo, I have figured out how to make our firewalls more resistant, but I'll need more time to make a proper counter-virus program. Right now you'll just have to use a lot of the old version."

"Got it," said Batou as he walked back to his computer. A few minutes later, one of the Tachikoma appeared on screen.

"We have found that there are 143 working IP adresses in Pushkan Afghanistan! These are all using some sort of satellite networks, so no ground-based connections, not even government ones, are working. Of course, their military is using the satellite network, but so are a few third-parties."

"Hmmm," responded Togusa, who was right next to Batou. "I guess we should try to inspect all of these computers," he muttered so that only Batou could here him. He then raised his voice and ordered, "Check each IP to see what kind of computer it is! Report back immediatly!"

"Understood!" said the Tachikoma as it went back into the cyber-jungle that was the internet. The major, who was overlooking the two male hackers, said , "You still have work to do, so get to it!"

"Aye," responded the men as they got to work on their system. The Major walked over to her computer and looked up all she could about the attack. After all, whoever attacked Carthage was going to pay.

Creator: Valerie Nikitin
Mission: Total destruction of computer immune system, including firewalls, anti-virus programs, etc.

The team walked into the dark cave, treading carefully.

"Sir, I don't like this."

The team leader nodded in agreement. "Neither do I. My guts are telling me that we are being set up. Joe, take point. The rest of you, tactical advance. Keep atleast five meters between each man. Lets get the NVGs on."

The eleven men dispersed and put on their night vision goggles, so they could see better in the dark cave. They also advanced carefully, making virtually no sound. Their AK-103s were at the ready to fire, and spare magazines and the other weapons were within easy reach.

As the pointman walked past a turn, all hell broke loose. At the end of the tunnel, sixteen armed Afghans stood with AK-47s aimed at Joe. "Shit..." he said before he fired off a burst of five 7,62 x 39 mm rounds and plunged for cover. Just then the Afghanis started to return fire. The rest of the team took up firing positions and returned fire too. They aimed for the heads, and fired only in short bursts of two or three rounds. It gave them a steady aim and it conserved ammo.

Sarum'Baklan: We go in all together, shoot those bastards and let their souls burn in hell.

"He turned around and waved his hand in the direction of the cave entrance commanding his troops to go. He then heard a multitude of silent claps. He slowly turned around and looked behind him, all of his men were dead. A second later someone covered his mouth from behind and put a knife to his neck."

Stranger: Tiho, ubivati tebia nebudem, vo vsiakom sluchaie poka.

(Quiet, we will not kill you, atleast not for now)

"Sarum'Baklan was trembeling with fear until a powerful blow to the head put him to rest. Seven dark figures were the only ones standing on their feet then it was over. They were wearing reinforced kevlar HZ full-body armor, HS helmets and carried Val, silenced assault rifle in their hands. Their faces were covered with dark glass facelets of the HS helmet. One of the men pulled down a retractable eye-piece from on his HS helmet and looked into the cave."

Surchenko (thats the other man): Kolya you take our newly acquaired "tongue" (refering to Sarum'Baklan) to the rallying point and wait until we are back. The rest of you are going to go into the cave, follow procedure #231. Lets move."

"One of the soldiers picked up uncontious Sarum'Baklan and disapeared into the woods. The rest of them went into the cave."

--meanwhile inside the cave---

"The terrorists were given a bloody nose, they did not expect this kind of resistance from the Cottish soldiers. However they still outnumbered the Cotsmen 30 to 1, with reinforcements coming in from the other end of the cave, and although suffering heavy casualties because of the lack of cover on their side of the cave, they did already get several Cottish soldiers and now were saving themselves by throwing 3-second fuse and 6-second fuse grenades at the cottish from behind the bodies of their already killed comrades. Finally the reinforcements brought in two machine guns and mounted them on the floor after loosing three men. After that they started piling up the sandbags around the machine guns, finally making a relatively well protected machine gun nests. Then they started firing round arter round from Kord 2.7 machine guns at the Cottish soldiers."

IC: The Cots were taking casualties. Of the eleven men, three had died. The rest were busy firing rounds into the brains of the enemy, using the NVGs to their advantage. The Afghans pulled in a MG, and tried to throw grenades on the Cots. This was not smart, because the Cots did the same thing. M67 fragmentation grenades were thrown at the enemy MG nest, ensuring heavy casualties among the Afghans. At long last, the Cots tossed smoke grenades and used the smoke to quickly and quietly leave the area going back the way they came. They had very little ammo left for the AK-103s, so they used the MP-5s and M45A1s, which they had plenty of ammo for.

Surchenko: We are..help...for you...one of my man...will take you to the...hmm...place.

"He then pointed at one of his men"

Surchenko: Kabanov vozmi etih k vertolietu.

"After saying that he lead the Cotsmen and his men out of the cave. Cotsmen then ran to the HV-121A helicopter, lead by Kabanov. It was already night outside. The stars were shining brightly in this rural area.
Once the Cotsmen left, Surchenko and his men carried out what seemed to be a light artillery gun, exept it was closer to the ground then a usual one. Surchenko entered a code into the display on its side and a huge missile flew out of it and into the cave. Surchenko and his men praised for cover, few seconds later a huge explosion could be heard over the area. A giant pillar of smoke started coming out of the cave and reaching for the sky. Once that was done, Surchenko had his men strap C4 to the strange artillery gun and they left for the helicopter once it was blown up to pieces. The helicopter took off, but instead of going for the base there it came from it flew much further, to a base far north from the area of the cave. The Red Devils (thats who the Pushkan soldiers are in this one) didn't a say a word on the way back, neither did the Cottish soldiers.

Hacker Central

Ishikawa looked up from his computer with a smile on his face. "Oye! I've finished making the counter-virus!"

Batou walked over to Ishikawa's computer. "Excelent! We'll never know when the enemy will strike next..."

Just then, a siren went off. Everyone in the room ran to their computers. "What is it?" asked the Major to one of the defence techies.

"It appears to be a HUGE Virus. And we mean huge. It's over 1 gigabyte in size!"

The major was worried. Nothing they had was powerful enough to defeat the virus. After a few seconds of thinking, she came up with an idea. "Alfredo!(who was one of the hackers(, get off your computer and lower your defences!"

Although he had a puzzled look on his face, the hackers did as he was told. Seconds later, the virus had infected his computer and was preparing to move to the other computers near-by. "Cut the wires! NOW!" ordered the major. The hacker did so, and the virus was trapped in that computer. When Alfredo went to see how to treat the virus, the virus over-loaded the computer and shocked Alfredo to death. The computer was destroyed, and so was the virus, but one of the hackers was dead. That had never happened to Hacker Central, and the hackers were angry.

Very angry.

The major stood up from her computer and said, "It seems that the Pushkans wan't to play dirty. Seeing how they have killed to see that we don't succeed, we have to think that they are trying to cover up something big. I want everyone who isn't working to fix the system to focus on attacking the Pushkans. Send all the scouting programs and viruses we have."

With a fierce look in her eye, the major added "They will pay dearly for what they have done to us."

Sergei rushed to the Prime Minister's room. Alexey was sitting at his leather chair, naer the fire place with an opened bottle of red vine on the table and a single glass."

Alexey: The terrorist problem has been taken care off by me, since you have failed in that task.

"Alexey took a deep tiresome breath"

Alexey: The long-range bomber with a V-bomb has already left the base, acamponied by a squadron of 12 G-105 Jets. They will be in the position to drop the bomb in an hour.

Sergei: God forgive us all.

Alexey: Heh, i have ordered an evacuation of all the area last night, most people should stay alive. I ordered the mountains to be blockaded so non of the rebels would get away. Last Pushkan soldiers are pulling out of the area as we speak. I have no regrets for doing this, neither do i will an urgent need to explain myself to you. Who i need to explain myself to is the international community. I read a file on hacker activity in Afghanistan recently.

"Alexey picked up an open file-folder that lay on the table opened"

Sergei: I know of it, according to the reports it originated somethere in Carthage. We dropped an E-bomb on one of their cities, because of the misunderstanding in the chain of command.

Alexey: Carthage will be our scape goat. We have proof that the hacker activity came from there, we can say that they hijacked a remote controll to one of our V-bombs, my other intelligence advisers tell me that there was a closed nuclear storage facility near the area we gonna nuke. We say that there was a single V-bomb that escaped the moving. It all adds up, all we need is a hijacked remote, i want you to get one, in addition i want you to prepare a press conferenss for tomorrow. We mix the real evidence with made up ones, no one will know the difference. We ask Carthagian gov't for help in fiding the guys who did this. They will help us, they won't wanna look bad in the face of international community. After that if this is a deed of their gov't, they will find their own scape goat, not related to the incident and punish them for that crime. That way everybody is happy. Go do your work.

"Sergei left the room"

OOC: I'll RP the nuke explosion tomorrow.

Cornelius was having a bad day. Earlier in the day, the pharmaceutical salesman was making a sales pitch to a Carthaginian company, but the presentation went so badly that he was literally booed out of the room. If that was not enough, Cornelius' boss called him right after the presentation and told him his sales report featured some atrocious mathematical work, so not only did he have to write a report on his presentation, he had to type almost his entire sales report for the last month. Again. He's been living off coffee for the past week, and now looked like he won't be getting a wink of shuteye for months.

He made his way over to a Carthaginian cafe and began to write up his reports on his laptop, a 2001 model. He was typing away for hours when suddenly he heard an explosion. Initially shaken, Cornelius had a look around, and when he saw that nothing had fallen, he decided to ignore the blast and go back to work. However, when he went back to his laptop he noticed that the screen was black and wouldn't respond to anything he did. "Oh great- as if anything else could go wrong", he muttered to himself. His computer wasn't working, so he decided to call his boss to tell him that he'll be late to file the reports- only this time his cell phone didn't work either. "I think I'll go to the bar," he said to himself, "because this is just nuts".

---------------------------Inside the Curia--------------------------------

As reports started coming in about the Carthaginian computer failures, the Roman Senate held an emergency session to discuss the possible aid that Carthage needed. They'd never heard of "electronic bombing" being used before, so they were quite baffled at the turn of events.

"Let me get this straight," said Consul Flavius Publius Timanus of the Roman Republic, "some hackers are having a war with their computers and they've completely destroyed Carthage's electrical capabilities?"

"Correct sir," said Roman Quaestor Cornelius Pallus Flavinum.

"How is that possible? I mean, I know of EMP and I've known its potential for quite some time, but I don't believe I've ever seen anyone use it- at least, not at this magnitude."

Timanus sighed. "We'll send them whatever help that we can. Get me the Emperor," he stammered to Flavinum. He obliged.

"Your Highness," Timanus said to Emperor Rodin Hartian on the Curia's phone, "I don't know if you've heard, but Carthage has been e-bombed."

"E-Bombed? By whom?" replied Hartian.

"We're not sure yet. From what we can tell, some hackers are having a fight and they've managed to incapacitate Carthage."

"That's odd. Well, tell the Carthaginians that we will be sending some technicians from Rome."

"Okay sir," said Timanus, hanging up the phone. He then prepared the following Communique:

"By the power invested in me by the Roman Emperor, we will be sending you some of Rome's finest technicians to survey the damage. The Roman State will also aid your country in whatever repairs it needs,"

Signed,
Flavius Publius Timanus
Roman Consul

Offical Statement by the Carthaginian President Akahi

We thank our allies in Rome from the bottom of our hearts. In this time of need, we surely need all the help we can get. While some people in my government may think that we are too proud to accept help, we still need it dearly. The sons of Carthage will not forget this helping gesture, and we assure you that we will one day return the favor.

Pushkan Afghanistan

Saito (http://www.ghostintheshell.tv/bios/saito-action.jpg) moved stealthily across the border between Carthaginian and Pushkan Afghanistan. The Pushkans had, seemingly overnight, nearly doubled their presense on the border. Well, there is a rebellion going on... he thought to himself, but in the back of his mind he had a foreboding thought. The two neighbors seemed to be nudging towards war, although neither had done anything extremely bad to each other. Of course, no one knew who had E-Bombed Carthage, but that was a different matter all-together.

As he approached the main road, he found two guards with a truck on the side of the road. They appeared to be smoking Afghanistans favorite product: Opium.

"Hey, Ivan, this stuff is good, eh?" said one of the guards to the other. He was about 5' 10'', had brown hair, brown eyes, and a rugged face. The other soldier(6' 2'' perhaps, with blond hair, blue eyes, and a soft face. Probably a greenie) nodded to his acomplice and said, "Sure is, Serg." While they sat their with their head in the clouds, it began to lightly rain. The guards, in their drugged state, didn't notice. Of course, they didn't notice the dark shadow creeping up on them either. "Hey, Serg, do you think we should be returning to base now?" said Ivan as he turned to his partner. Right before Ivan could turn and respond, he had a knife in his head. Ivan quickly turned around to see what had happened, but he soon met the same fate as his acomplice.

"Hmmm, this will do nicely..." said Saito as he slipped in to Serg's uniform. He appeared to be a corporal, nothing big, but big enough. Although the records had already been mysteriously changed so that a new "Corporal Vladimir" would be coming into Kabul(thanks to some of the best forgers in the world), there was no uniform for him: just a Pushkan-style name-tag. He brought the car, the two bodies, and his kit into a nearby cave that was just large enough to hide everything from the dirt-road. He quickly took off Serg's name tag and added his "Valdimir" tag, and put on the uniform. He then grabbed his gear and left the car and the body in the tunnel. He had attached a little surprise, though. A little bomb, in the exact form as a rebel bomb, had been attached to the entrance to the cave. Just in case a Pushkan squad came across this cave and got a bit too curious, there would be a "terrorist attack" on them. A flawless plan, of course.

Saito waited until the rain stopped, adjusted his hat, and walked down the road towards Kabul. It would be a long walk, but he was used to it.

OOC: So you're sending an agent? I think its a bit too late since i am about to kill off most of the rebels with a nuke. I said that i was gonna do that like 3 posts ago.

IC:
"Pushkan forces were keeping their perimeter about 200 kilometers away from the mountain range there Hadji'Murat was in hiding. All over those 200 kilometers were empty villages, women and children were evacuated in night before. Pushkan counter-intelligence service was working day and night to make the image blury for any spy satelites that could be flying over head.

A single bomber surrounded by 12 Jets was flying through the skies above the mountain site. Its head pilot, Dimitri Orlov was nervously looking at the sky.

V-bomb was never tested for its effects were estimated to be too powerful, and a large enough unpopulated testing sight was never found. The pilot was afraid that the shockwave will destroy his plane. There must have been a reason why the higher command decided to give him a hero of Pushka medal upon the completion of this mission. Dimitri heard that in the infantry there is a saying that those medals are only given to those who die in combat. That added to his anxious state of mind.

Finally a green light bulb above his head turned red. He was right over the bomb drop location.

His second pilot Valerie Krilov pressed a button with a sweating finger. The bomb was released with an attached parachute, delay mechanism, it was supposed to give the pilot time to escape the blast range. Dimitri turned around and flew in the opposite direction. The jet fighters followed.

-meanwhile in a village 30 kilometers from the bomb-drop site-

"Hadji'Murat and his men moved out, today was a day they would wage war. They were expecting to visit a number of villages and to recruit the men who lived there, in their army. They were surprised to not find a single person in all of the villages lying 30 killometers or less from their hide out. They didn't even find any dogs or cats, few cows, pigs, some chickens. All the villages turned into ghost towns overnight. Suddenly a bright flash came from the mountain sight. There was no mushroom cloud, infact, nothing exept red light could be seen. Few minutes passed the perimeter red light began to rapidly grow in size. Suddenly Hadji'Murat and his men started choking, grasping for air, while there was none. Few seconds later the red light reached them, it was fire, pure red flame, it seemed as if it was feeding on the very air. Hadji'Murat looked at the red wall and with what was left of his strength opened his lips."

Hadji'Murat: Why have you done this to us Alah?

"A second later he was no more."

OFFICIAL MESSAGE FROM PUSHKA CONCERNING THE RECENT VACCUM BOMB EXPLOSION IN AFGHANISTAN

Pushkan Prime Minister Alexei Chorni: We are shoked by this event, an estimated number of 40000 Pushkan citizens was obliterated in the blast which burned everything in a radius of 140 killometers. We will provide financial aid to families of all those who died in this act of terrorism. We know now who did this. Pushkan Inteeligence office has issued a report which explained what caused the event. Rebel leader Hadji'Murat has decided to kill as many of loyal Pushkan citizens as he could in this suicidal massacre. And for what! So world would recognise him as a fighter for peace! The men was a fanatic, he had no logic!

However he had help. The same report talks about a recent hacker activity which occured in Afghanistan. We now know that the hackers were sending their signal from somethere inside Carthage, we do not know from there however. We ask Carthagian authorities to help us find those who are responsible and punish them in accordance to laws of humanity which condemn all those who help men who rather butcher the human kind then try to make it prosper. We await a reply from Carthagian authorities about this matter. We will also send aid to you to help recover your capitol from the recent EMP bombing if you wish.
