-----------------------The Kingdom of Everymen--------------------------
Sometimes, nations come about by accident. The Kingdom of Everymen has a long, and complicated history. Over 3000 years ago, an ancient society inhabited the same area as the citizens of Everymen do today. This society had a monarch, indeed an Emperor who conquered and subjugated those nations that dare opposed his.
The glory days of Everymen are long gone. Until recently, the area was populated by a group of warlords who controlled the land with force and violence rather than law and order. The country was officially a united Republic, but the warlords rigged regional elections and it was undoubtedly an undemocratic system. The people of Everymen had never believed in democracy, but they were unhappy with the situation at hand.
A man named Albert Patract led an armed resistance against the warlords. A tactical and political genius, he managed to depose the warlords one by one. He assembled a group of educated men to appoint the new monarch of Everymen. Of course, they chose him. Albert Patract I is the nation’s first king for many, many years. He brought with him his meritocratic beliefs, “each according to his ability.” Has become the country’s motto. The system of government is designed so that only the best equipped to govern comes to govern.
The people are exceedingly militant; they lived under warlords for decades. There is no written constitution; instead it is built on statute and convention. The people have freedom of speech and protest, but as the Kingdom is not democratic no one has suffrage. The population is almost entirely atheist.
The country is only just beginning to heal its wounds, but the resourceful, proud and intelligent subjects are willing to drag their nation out of the ashes. Already sweeping economic, military and political reforms have been passed. One advantage of the time of the warlords was the accelerated development of technology through perpetual competition, specifically that technology associated with war. This means that Everymen is very advanced as a nation when it comes to its technological capabilities.
The country has recently opened up trade routes across the world, and the economy is beginning to flourish. The people are exceptionally determined and everyone is working very hard for the good of the nation.
(OOC: How is this so far? I’ll add cultural stuff when it comes to me.)
