Alexonium:

In a referendum today, 56% who voted want the military funding slashed to PHJ 0.00, freeing up more money to revitalize the sluggish economy.

Many in favor of the obliteration of the funding say that the national debt is already at its ceiling in the face of a stagnant economy coming out of a horrid economic contraction [-83% growth in 2 years], and something has to go. The opponents point to the hostile elements who would have Alexonium destroyed on account of it being a haven for drug trafficers on account of its lack of extradition treaties and liberal drug laws, as well as a haven for defections.

Either way, the referendum stands, and the fiscal budget in the Legislature has been put forward with these revisions in mind. For the first time in about 15 years, Alexonium is due to show a sizable surplus. The interest saved is earmarked for economic revitalization.

The Commonwealth of De Vlaamse Leeuw is offering a coöperation, in which we would help you defend any incoming hostiles, and we would be a priviliged trade partner.

The government of the Federated Republics of Patriotic Finland, first rather confused and checking it's calendars whether or not April Fools day had already passed, but then concerned over safety of the people of Alexonium, offers military assistance against imperialistic powers that might seek to harm you. Naturally, everything has a price and technically the troops would not be our government's troops, but would be "leased" to MilCorp Military Support Services, the largest provider of military and conflict area support services (OOC:read:Mercenary firm) in Patriotic Finland.

They say war is good business. If you need to jumpstart your economy, you could start a war, instead of drastically downsizing the military.

The dominion has been contemplating expanding it's realm.... However we wish to make friends not enemies (yet). We offer the olive branch and is willing to help in any way and hope to see a fruitful future for both of our nations in trade.

We graciously thank the Commonwealth of De Vlaamse and Finland for their offers of assistance in the event of a war, and of Khaaan for their extension of the olive branch.

Due to the concerns raised by the dissenting 44% in the referendum, a volunteer militia has been assembled, with armaments for such to be deducted from taxable incomes.
