Tale of the Time:
Ancient Secrets Found in Yucatán...

Please bear in mind this disclaimer. What will be discussed throughout this RP may offend many of you. It is not meant to offend, in any way, shape, or form. To the degree that it will offend will not be a way of violence, sex, or any other topics of the like. This may offend those who are deeply and truly religious, who refuse to see anything other than what their scriptures and clergy tell them. If you are one of these people then I ask you not to read this RP as I do not wish to incur any flaming of heresy or this or that.

Now with that in mind. I am agnostic in my beliefs. Agnosticism is the philosophical and theological view that spiritual truths, such as the existence of God, gods or deities, is either unknown or inherently unknowable. If that offends you then I'm sorry but life isn't fair so get over it. What I write here is not me pushing or telling of my beliefs but rather a story that draws in many elements including: The X-Files, the Mayan civilization, the Anasazi civilization, my RP'd conquest of the Yucatán Peninsula, my Empire's dominant religious view of Paganism, and other elements of this and that.

Lastly, before you read please do not pass any judgement that this will be a pathetic post. If you must have a reference, please go to the list below and you will see the abilities of me to tell a story. I am a writer.

Notes

This will be updated on an irregular basis. Pictures may be included with horrible images of death but I will try to keep away from that and keep it PG-13. If there is ever something that violates NS rules (and no nothing illegal will be had here) please inform me and I'll take care of it. An example is in Part II with the test subjects. I could not find any images on the internet of what it would look like to be exposed to something like Ebola and even if I did they would be horrible images so in the interest of stomachs and decency I have just put in a small comment. Swearing will be curbed and if anything you will see the first letter and asterisks at least so you know the word they are saying. If you are offended don't read! Simple as that.

Chapter One
"Marred Beliefs"

Parker Allen, a man with more knowledge in the ancient cultures than any man on Earth sat on his living room couch, his wife just gone to bed. His two children, both eighteen, twins, had gone to bed as well, tomorrow was standardized day. The results of the tests they were about to take would determine just where they would be placed when they joined the military that summer. At eighteen, all men served two years of military service, going to a college or university afterwards, $84,000 being granted to them upon their discharge. For those two years, women all across the country were taught extensively in traditions, culture, and the ways of the past. It was like home economics but dedicated and long lasting.

Parker Allen had a PhD in ancient cultures, having studied the ancient Layartebians from the 6th century, when the first tribes surfaced in the mountains of central, western, and eastern New York. What had grown from then was the Empire of Layarteb, vast and all-mighty. He taught at the most prestigious university in the Empire of Layarteb, the University of Layartebian Right. Tuition, per year was $120,000 and rose at a rate of 1.6%, on the average, each year. Dr. Allen earned $592,000 each year from his teaching job, more than anyone else at the university except for the President, who made $650,000.

He was watching television, waiting for the 2000 news to come on. Every night he watched the news and saw the happenings in Kaliningrad and elsewhere in the world. But tonight he wasn't going to see the news, he was going to see the most startling discovery in the entirety of the human species. The news report flashed on at 2145, fifteen minutes ahead of time. Every channel was overtaken by a single channel, the Layartebian News Network.

Shepherd Smith, the chief anchor for the LNN, came onto the screen, the picture-in-picture window saying merely, "BREAKING NEWS..." It was given a speed effect, to show that it was in motion. Immediately, Dr. Allen snapped to. "It is my pleasure to announce this to all those in the Empire. If you are watching or listening, in about twenty minutes, the Emperor will address all citizens. From what we are being told, a startling discovery has taken place in the Colony of Ynoga, primarily in the newly acquired land of the Yucatán state. Perhaps it has something to do with an archeological discovery. We are not very sure but stay tuned. We take you back to your regular programing and will return in just under sixteen minutes."

Dr. Allen stared widely at the screen. "Honey. Come in here!" He yelled down the hall to the bedroom, the door open. He got no answer the first time but the second time he yelled louder. "Honey come in here fast!"

"What, what do you want Parker. I want to sleep."

"Come in here, the Emperor is going to talk."

"Whatever it is it's probably unnecessary. Let me go to bed."

"No its something to do with the Yucatán. Come in here."

"Fine..." His wife was a professor at the same school but she had a PhD in mathematics. It took her a few minutes to get out of bed and put on a robe. She walked into the living room and sat on the couch next to her husband, both forty-eight. Their two children were awake, a boy and a girl, but stirred not, keeping in their beds, just listening. "This better be good Parker. I was almost asleep."

"We'll see." The minutes were grueling but then, like clockwork, the Emperor came on. "Ladies and gentlemen of the Empire. I greet you all with warmth that you have received me tonight. I have an announcement I must make to the entirety of the Empire, colonies and provinces alike. Most recently we have expanded the Colony of Ynoga to include the anarchical state of the Yucatán. This piece of land is riddled with history dating back to the Mayas, a civilization that existed from 2600 BC to roughly the 1600s AD. But alas, we have come to some startling discoveries that will alter the course of human events for times to come."

"Honey, get the kids." Dr. Allen was serious and his wife called to the kids.

"Garrick, Holly. Come in here. I know you're awake."

"Yes mom." They came out, curious as to what was going on and sat down on the couch and floor in front of the television.

The Emperor began speaking again. "Scientists have been working around the clock at Chichén Itzá, a city believed to have been constructed around 700 AD. Scientists were acting on a private grant from the University of Layartebian Right to explore the Pyramid of Kukúlcan for ancient documents they believe existed in secret tombs. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Dr. Bernard Howe, chief leader of the team. Doctor."

"Thank you Sir." The camera panned just to the left to a bald scientist, at least fifty years old, tired and worn. He used glasses to read and see but one could see that they could not even help steady his vision. He was nervous, very nervous. "Yes. The pyramid. We believe it was constructed around 1100 to 1300 AD. We were wrong. Very wrong. From the documents that we have uncovered, Chichén Itzá was the first Mayan city to be constructed and it had been done so in the year 700 BC. The pyramid was actually constructed in 500 BC. This is most startling for us to imagine considering that this type of architecture did not appear elsewhere in Central America until around 1100 AD.

"Now onto these documents. We uncovered three key documents that varying in dates. The first are the Tablets of Cerlon, written in 666 BC. The second is the Prophesy of Luna in 57 AD. The third and final is the Book of the Gods, written in 800 AD. The findings of these books are of grave concern to all of us here and to humanity.

"Let me first discuss the Tablets of Cerlon. Written in 666 BC they are a series of mystical writings of history, mentioning the Anasazi Indians frequently. The Anasazi Indians are pre-pueblo people who existed from around 1200 BC to the 1200s AD when they mysteriously vanished. They resided in the southwestern United States in the Four Corners area, which is southeastern Utah, southwestern Colorado, northwestern New Mexico, and northeastern Arizona. Their disappearance is a mystery, until now. Predating the Anasazi are a pre-Anasazi peoples that lived from around 8000 BC to 1200 BC. We have had no name for these people until now. They are referred to as Cerlonites. The Tablets of Cerlon discuss an elaborate history. According to these tablets, the Cerlonites are direct descendents of a prehistoric race of beings, Cerlons, who, according to them, are extraterrestrial. According to these tablets, the original inhabitants of Earth were in fact aliens. For reasons that are not quite clear yet, the Cerlons left the planet in the area of 20000 BC.

"The Tablets talk of a crashed spaceship, upon it which is written the texts of the Koran, Torah, Bible, the DNA genetic code, and other information about our current civilization. While the Tablets do not speak of the location of this crashed spaceship they do speak of its time, 18500 BC. Why this ship crashed is unknown and not mentioned. Nothing is written between this crash and 8000 BC when the Cerlonites appear. They appear in the texts as beings who originated in northwestern New Mexico. They advanced very quickly and are portrayed as beings alike to the Cerlons but exhibiting more human qualities. Their existence remains a mystery until 1251, when during a solar eclipse it seems they all were wiped out. No concrete reason is given but it seems as if, in conjunction with this solar eclipse, there was a major earthquake in their region, engulfing their city.

"Few survived and the ones who managed to escape the earthquake are described as having died in the desert. However, this is where it becomes a little less vague. It seems that this is when the Anasazi arrive. The earthquake, as written, was felt far away, calling the Anasazi to this great and troubled land. However, there may be more of a reason as to why the Anasazi came here. It seems that, through significant excavation that a mineral called Magnetite is located in this Four Corners region. The symbol used for this mineral is also seen in the pictures of the crashed spaceship. This mineral is a magnetic mineral, the most magnetic on all of Earth. Large deposits are found in Kiruna, Sweden, and in the Adirondack region of New York in the United States. Deposits are also found in Norway, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, India, Mexico, and in Oregon, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado in the United States. There are various other deposits found, particularly in the Kola Peninsula and here in the Yucatán.

"The Tablet's were written in 666 BC so they don't say much past that date. Given the huge deposit of this mineral in the Four Corners region, it seems likely that the Anasazi used it for protection. This mineral seems to have brought down the spaceship and driven away the Cerlons, the symbol appearing elsewhere. The Cerlonites may have used it to protect themselves as well, the earthquake being most peculiar for the region." The scientist relaxed a bit. He wiped his brow and looked back into the camera. "The Tablets of Cerlon are, more or less, the initial explanations of human history, speaking heavily of something that we have translated to mean 'Virus.' The virus is mentioned only occasionally. All traces of the virus seem to vanish at the year 637995 BC. We can trace this disappearance to one of the most cataclysmic events in history. It was at this time that the Yellowstone super volcano erupted. This volcano is the largest in the world, located in the northwest corner of Wyoming. It is apparent that this eruption may have triggered some sort of ice age that froze this virus and killed it. Numerous references made to it and ice are frequented throughout these Tablets." He sneezed. "Excuse me." He smiled. "Furthermore, with concern to these Tablets and the evolution of human history, the correlations are impressive. They speak of an ancient life form of massive size, reptilian like creatures. These are, evidently, dinosaurs.

"The last ice age ended ten thousand years ago. This would be around 8000 BC, when the Cerlonites appear. It is possible that the end of this ice age is what triggered the rise of the Cerlonite civilization. When this ice age began though, is unknown. It may have began around 20000 BC, when the Cerlons left. If this is so, it was an ice age lasting twelve thousand years that was the last one. Analysis puts ice ages as occurring at forty thousand to one hundred thousand year frequencies. We know of something called a 'Little Ice Age' as occurring between the mid-fourteenth and mid-nineteenth centuries.

"Cold is mentioned obscurely several times in reference to the interim period between the Cerlons and the Cerlonites but it is not conclusive. We can only form a hypothesis that this is the case." He put down the piece of paper. "I'm told we have to take a commercial break but that afterwards we can discuss the Prophesy of Luna, a writing that appeared in 57 AD." He nodded and the cameras panned out. A commercial followed and throughout the entirety of the Empire, eyes were glued to television screens. Nobody uttered a word, families held onto each other, and the clergy throughout the Empire were already writing up their press releases, all of which included the single word: "Heresy!"

Dr. Allen looked at his wife and kids with a blank stare. "I don't know what to say." He said. He was Roman Catholic and the utterance of this was more than heretical, it was down-right evil. He looked over at the crucifix on the wall. "Honey. I'm not sure, I'm just..."

"Parker, listen to me. This can't be true. They said themselves they couldn't find any spaceship with these writings. It's probably just a spook."

"I don't think so." He said as he said a prayer. "Let's wait and see what is going on."

Chapter Two
"The Golden Craft"

"Sir, sir, I've found it!" Albert was a skinny boy, barely twenty-four. He had joined Mayan Explorer I when he first heard about the conquest of the Yucatán. He had a B.S. in ancient cultures and an M.S. in the Mayan Civilization. He was going for his PhD eventually and saw this as a great opportunity. He had been there when they found the Tablets of Cerlon and the other writings that appeared throughout the city of Chichén Itzá. His theory was one of those key to locating the tablets. For his M.S. degree, he had published a theory that the Pyramid of Kukúlcan was far older than it seemed and that the city of Chichén Itzá was built during BC times. "Sir, over here. We've got something." He yelled again, but louder, much louder. He was calling to the team leader, Dr. Bernard Howe. "Sir, we've found it!" He screamed now as about a dozen or so of the men came running towards an object sticking out of the water.

http://www.theforsakenoutlaw.com/Graphics/Nation-States/Role-Playing/Tale%20of%20Time/6th-ex-052.jpg

They were on the shore of the Yucatán, north of Chicxulub. Sixty-five million years earlier, an asteroid ten kilometers in diameter impacted there. This asteroid impact is believed to have killed the dinosaurs.

And there it was, sitting in the water, as the tide washed onto the shore. "Sir there it is. It's right where the Tablets say it is! Sir, I told you!" Albert was ecstatic. "Sir we've got it!"

"Calm down Albert, calm down." Dr. Howe smirked. In all my years, I would have never thought this plausible. He smiled and shouted with a raised fist, "We've got it!"

"We've got it!" The cry echoed across the beach. "We've got it!" Now came the daunting task of excavating the entire craft. At first glance, there were writings all over the skin of the craft. Immediately catching the eye of Dr. Howe was a passage. He recognized it immediately and his entire inside sank with fear. My God. What have we done! He said to himself as he re-read and re-read the passage for the tenth time. Nobody had caught on yet and he hoped they wouldn't but it was ironic that this was the passage that he had come to see, the one that had grabbed his attention.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

"Albert. Come here." He said in a voice just audible. "Read that. What does it say?"

"Read what?" Dr. Howe pointed. "Alright. 'And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed.' Sir, what the hell is this? Is that some kind of joke?"

"No. I'm afraid not."

"That's from the Book of Revelation. What's it doing there? In hieroglyphics?"

"It means that what we have found is larger than you, I, or this entire planet can grasp. This information MUST not be shared. Do you understand me? Whatever we translate from this craft MUST NOT BE SHARED!"

"I agree sir. What should we tell the Emperor?"

"Everything."

"But sir, you just..."

"He'll understand. Go and send the message."

"Yes sir." Albert darted off to the main tent. The secure satellite link to the Emperor was there, under lock, key, and two armed guards. As Albert approached, both drew their rifles. "I must contact the Emperor. We have found the craft."

"Authorization code?"

"G2-JFU-889-ZJUF."

"Very well."

"Thank you." Albert picked up the phone and dialed the number. At light speed, the signal shot up to a satellite orbiting 22,240 miles above the Earth. It took 270 milliseconds to reach the satellite and another 270 milliseconds to reach the phone in the Emperor's office. "Emperor, sir. This is Albert Betts from Mayan Explorer One sir. Yes. Thank you. I understand. Well sir, we found it. The craft. We found it. Only us. No I'm aware. Well sir that's the problem. Sir, there is a passage from the Book of Revelation on its skin. No sir. Ironic yes. 'And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.' Yes sir. No I understand. Well he believes that this information should not be leaked, regardless. No I understand. I agree sir. There will be no discussion here. Yes. Precisely. Of course. Thank you. Scared? Petrified sir. This doesn't, no I understand. I won't. Thank you sir. Enjoy the night. Yes. Good bye." He hung up the phone, sweat pouring out from every pore on his body.

He exited the tent and went back out to find Dr. Howe. "Sir. Doctor. Yes. Sir. I. Sir." Dr. Howe was engulfed in his own world, reading more passages from the Bible off the skin of the craft. "Sir. Doctor." He was alongside Dr. Howe and still he hadn't noticed.

"Oh what?" He snapped to. "Did you get through to him?"

"Yes sir. He agreed with us. We should keep this secret."

"What about moving it?"

"He said that he'll fly down here as soon as possible and to continue unearthing it. For the time being, he said that we ought to keep this hidden from prying eyes above. How would we do that?"

"Ask the Army Colonel. That's what he's here for right?"

"Army?"

"The soldiers."

"Sir, I don't think they're with the Army."

"Me either but I don't know what else to call them."

"I think we have to call them Black Operations."

"Black Ops?"

"Yes sir."

"Why do you say that?"

"Well sir they don't carry any identifying patches, name tags, or symbols. I don't think they're even Special Forces sir, they see way too keen for that. I think they're some secret organization group. Maybe they're like...well sir I don't know."

"Alright. Well have one of them cover it."

"Yes sir." Albert darted off again to find the Colonel. He was a tall man, buff, and scarred. He had seen combat over the course of seventeen years with the Layartebian military and as a soldier from Force Falcon Team Three, he was one of the most elite in the entire Layartebian military. They had come prepared. "Sir?" Albert always felt uneasy talking to the man, let alone disturbing him.

"How may I help you Albert?"

"Sir. We." He was nervous, shaking in his pants. "Sir, I spoke with the Emperor. We need to cover the craft from prying eyes."

"Understood."

"Sir. What do you have in mind?"

"We have a massive camouflaged tent for this task."

"Sir. Alright. We need to act fast, the craft is sticking out of the water."

"No problem. Thank you." The Colonel picked up his radio and pushed the TALK button. "Prepare the camouflage tent cover. We have to work fast men." Throughout the site, soldiers buzzed about. They were unfolding a camouflaged tent in the size of two hundred meters by two hundred meters. It was massive. It would allow them to work in concealment from satellites and aircraft. It took roughly a half an hour for the tent to be erected and when it was done, it was done well. The support posts were fired into the ground using small charges, allowing them to sustain gale force winds and maintain stable.

Under the cover of the camouflaged tent, the scientists and soldiers worked. Their goal was, more or less, to dig out as much of the craft as they could but the tide would not let them get that far. For now, it was all about concealment.

Chapter Three
"2012"

The television returned from the commercial to the news broadcast. Dr. Howe was sitting even more uneasy in his chair, unaware of the camera going back to live. He was drinking a tall glass of water, evidently cold from the amount of condensation around the glass. "Sir, we've returned." Someone whispered offset.

"Ah yes. Sorry. Where was I?" He shuffled around some papers. "Yes the Prophesy of Luna. This document was written in the year 57 AD. They are dated exactly seven hundred and twenty-three years after the Tablets of Cerlon. The Prophesy is short, I must admit. It doesn't tell us much. What it does give is a date, a date known well to us, December 23, 2012. This is when the Mayan Calendar ends. We have, until now, thought this to just be an ominous date. It seems that this date is directly linked with the Cerlons, the crash of the spacecraft, and what we determine as the Sixth Extinction, the last being the dinosaurs.

"Now, not to arise panic. There is no conclusive evidence that this date will mean anything. This date could mean other things. It could be a major event for our history and/or evolution. At the very least, it could be a warning to us. Efforts will be put underway to develop early warning systems, possibly for asteroids. There should be no cause for alarm. This date is far away, far in advance. This is about the extent of these writings, except for a small passage about the end of the Mayan and Anasazi civilizations. Little tells of why both civilizations ceased to exist but they declined at the same rate and at the same time, in the ninth century AD.

"The next bit of writings," he shuffled around his papers more, "is the last bit. This is the Book of the Gods, written in 800 AD. This book talks more of the Cerlons and of their culture. It speaks of the ancient pyramids in Egypt, the temples in Samaria, in Central and South America, Stonehenge, and other famous structures throughout the world. The book speaks of a massive building project during the Cerlonite civilization. Though the building project was undertaken by, what are described as visitors, it is unclear who. It seems, almost at first, that it was the Cerlons who came back to our planet after the conclusion of the ice age but such is not concrete. We cannot be certain, even now, what caused the creation of the pyramids. Stonehenge is referred to significantly. From what we can surmise is that it was a pagan temple of some sort, built to appease the gods, certainly the Cerlons. Much from these writings is vague and difficult to surmise. We will be interpreting them further. For now, we leave you with what we have found." The camera turned to the Emperor.

"I must reiterate that this is no cause for concern. Scientists and scholars have long since held such theories until now, when they can be shown to be true. The dig sites will remain off limits to all unauthorized personnel for the time being. It is note able that this information will be made public for study. However, at this current time, do to the delicacy of the writings, they will remain secret except to the intelligentsia of the world, for further interpretation and study.

"It is getting late now and I must thank all of you for your attention. By no means should this information seek to undermine beliefs, theories, or findings. As we have stated, these are just initial observations and may further develop. The date of December 23, 2012 is not new. It is the end of the Mayan calendar, a date that we are unsure of, all together. If it is some 'extinction,' rest assured that this government will do everything it can to protect not only the citizens of the Empire but the entirety of humanity. Thank you and have a good night." The Emperor smiled and the camera cut out. When it had done so, Dr. Howe stood. But he was pulled back down. "Wait here Doctor." The Emperor said.

"Yes sir." The room cleared inside of twenty minutes and it was just the Emperor and Dr. Howe. "What is it sir?"

"December 23. What more is there?"

"Other than the end of the human species?"

"Yes." He chuckled. "How?"

"The Cerlons sir. They're coming back."

"Coming back?"

"Yes. The Cerlons left in 20000 BC because of the ice age. They returned in 8000 BC when the Cerlonites arose. But, they returned for the purpose of construction. They built the pyramids sir. It's not unlike that movie. What is it called? Stargate yes, that's it. It's very like to that, except true, not fiction. Sir, they left around 4500 BC. The Egyptian Civilization began around 3000 BC. Those 1500 years are characterized by unknowns sir. We know that this was a twelve thousand year ice age. Sir, we know for certain that they were the original inhabitants of this planet. That is, after the dinosaurs. They came to this planet after the impact of those three asteroids sixty-five million years ago. They came about twenty million years ago. They were here before the human species and they were in the form of this virus. This virus is a black oil sir."

"A black oil?"

"Yes, not unlike that which was found in Antarctica. In fact, sir. I think that is the same stuff. I have not gotten a chance to actually analyze it yet but it is likely that it has been preserved there for millions of years. It is apparent that to the Cerlons and their species, which seems to include both this black oil virus and what science-fiction paints as a standard alien. Sir. This is exactly the reason why you produced the Doomsday Class. This day and this species is the reason that ship exists sir."

"These writings only further my case."

"Yes sir. When you asked me to be a part of that council I did so reluctantly, voicing my opposition to such a ship as the one we built sir. But now. After this. Sir. We should have it detonate on December 24, 2012, automatically. This alien species, the Cerlons. We can't fight them sir. They're hundreds of thousands of years, even millions of years ahead of us sir. They travel through space sir. It's like a science fiction nerds' fantasy but it's real. That's why we produced the X-Files sir, to subtly warn everyone but only a few nerds got the picture. This is really real. Those UFOs we have downed, how many is it now, twenty-four?"

"Twenty-one."

"Twenty-one. They are merely reconnaissance vessels sir. They move like nothing else. We can't track them, except with the anti-stealth system. We can't engage them except using its tracking systems."

"Indeed. This is what we'll face for an invasion force?"

"Yes. Technology will not advance very much sir. We will never be on the same page as them, nor could we even try. Sir, when one of their main ships explode it produces what we don't want to see. Sir, the Black Plague was not a plague sir."

"What was it?"

"Radiation sir. Massive doses."

"From what?"

"Sir we found one other document in the temple that I have neglected to say much about. This is a sort of writing from a what they believed to be a prophet. The writing details a war, in space, just outside of Earth, between the Earth and the moon. It details two alien races, fighting over control of Earth, fighting over the future. It seems that one is definitely the Cerlons, the obvious victors. It describes a single main invasion ship in the orbit of the Earth. Many pagan writings and prophesies describe it as a solar event, an eclipse or an exploded star. The 'Little Ice Age' began just after the Black Plague ended in the year 1350. It is a direct result of this war sir. This massive ship was destroyed outside of our atmosphere, showering Europe with radiation, mainly because it was exposed sir. Debris must have crashed through the atmosphere and either burnt up floated off into space."

"From what? A nuclear device?"

"Possibly. Possibly also the power plant of the spacecraft. Sir, what have we evaluated as the necessary propulsion for interstellar transport?"

"Fusion."

"Correct. What if they have perfected cold fusion? Imagine the possibilities."

"Well those reconnaissance craft show a revolutionary propulsion system but no craft has been intact enough for us to do much with it. I've been advised that it is a type of reactor but as to what kind, they do not know."

"Correct sir. It is, without a doubt, cold fusion. Sir, we're only pawns in this game, mere pawns. It is unfortunately but it is true, nonetheless. Sir, we have to use this ship to our advantage. It must not be a twenty billion dollar waste sir. We need it to stay in the water and stay around for the next seven years sir."

"I understand. Very well. Would it be out of line to ask you to place all of this data and theory and evidence in a single manuscript?"

"Sir, it's about eighty percent complete."

"Very well. Submit it to me when it is ready."

"I will sir. It's currently almost six thousand pages long."

"Understood."

"Thank you sir."

"Alright is there anything more?"

"No sir."

"Very well. You did well tonight. A little nervous but well."

"Thank you sir."

"I'll see you at a later date."

"Yes sir." Dr. Howe shook the Emperor's hand and left his office, a file thick and heavy under his arm. He walked off towards the exit, he had a car waiting. He would be sitting under heavy guard from Layartebian Force Victor soldiers. He was too important to lose. He had been an influential member of the Emperor's cabinet for some time now but had, thus far, remained silent about it. Now he had made this statement and he was a public figure. With it would come assassination attempts, kidnapping attempts, and all sorts of propaganda from religious and fanatical groups. It was now a matter of time.

Chapter Four
"Silo Complex 44B"

"Look, look! It's coming in!" On the horizon, a large ship appeared, still dull from the light fog. Albert was watching it, anticipating it. The Emperor had visited only six days prior, eyeing the wreck and making notes. He was concerned with it, very concerned with the writings on it. He had ordered it to be moved from this location to a secret site, somewhere inside Layarteb, somewhere deep inside Layarteb.

The ship that approached would do just that. It had a massive hull that was wide and long. In it, there were three long cargo holds that could be joined together by removing the wall barriers. That might be necessary. The cranes that would lift cargo into these holds were capable of lifting up to one hundred tons each. It was a salvage ship, designed for the salvage of submarines, more or less. What use it would have with a downed spacecraft, on the other hand, was to be determined.

As the ship approached, Albert ran towards the main tent, where Dr. Howe was. "Sir, sir. The ship is approaching. Should we prepare?"

"Prepare? They're doing all of the work. Come here, look at this."

"What?" Albert crouched down to see what Dr. Howe was looking at. "That passage?"

"Yes. It tells of the DNA structure of humans. This is not a coincidence. This is deeper than that. I'm not entirely sure if even the Emperor should know about this Albert."

"Why?"

"What would we do with it?"

"I'm not entirely sure."

"Whatever happens, I'm not sure it will benefit the human race any. Come on, let's go find out what's going on." They exited the tent. It was now more of a structure. Solid steel walls were placed into the sides, shielding the craft from the waves and the dig site as well. The steel walls also kept out the water. As they pumped out the water, no more return. Driven six meters into the sand, the walls allowed the expedition members to dig effectively and thoroughly. They had, by this time, dug out the craft, except for its underside.

It was some thirty meters wide from wingtip to wingtip, forty-five meters in length, and from what they could surmise, some six meters in height. Its engines were exposed, a pair of ducts at the rear of the craft. They were sure there were underside jets as well but they could not see them, obviously.

Hours went by, as the ship approached. It came to within sixty feet of the craft, looming over the tent. The tent would have to be removed for the process. The process would be a long one, a very long one. First and foremost, straps would have to be placed underneath the craft, requiring access to the underside of the craft. Diggers would have to tunnel underneath to allow the straps to be placed underneath. That alone would take a few hours. The straps themselves would take another few hours to be placed. The final phase, would require the craft to be lifted and placed into the cargo hold, which would be done during the morning hours, when the fog rolled in. Aside from the fog, the ship had onboard smoke generations, able to produce enough smoke to hide the entire ship for twelve hours.

"Alright then." Having heard the proceedure, Dr. Howe assented. "We should get to this right away. I want to get the hell out of here, get this ship back to the mainland, hide it, and study it. The longer we're exposed out there, the worse off we are. My team will commence the digging immediately and have the straps ready by midnight. Is that fair?"

"Yes Dr. Howe. We're fine with that."

"Very well sir. Should the fog not roll in, could the smoke we use be sufficient?"

"Yes."

"Alright. Good then. We will need it I fear. The fog may not be enough. Would we be able to fly a helicopter over the area to see if it were visible?"

"That is part of the process. The AH-6J Littlebird that is sitting on the deck will do that. If need be, the helicopter is there as a minor protection, equipped with a pair of Miniguns and 2.75 inch rockets."

"Alright then. Let's get to work!" The meeting ended and the workers began immediately. The sun was low on the horizon, just an hour from setting. As the workers began tunneling underneath the aircraft, things around began to change. The air turned cold, Arctic cold. The water outside turned slushy as the temperature dropped. The workers immediately looked around, dressed for summer weather, not winter weather. As the craft turned icy cold, everything suddenly shook and the air became enflamed. The mystery of the temperature was over.

Scared, the workers fled the tent, speaking of the mystery they had just witnessed. They were ushered back into the tent at gunpoint, the necessity of such bearing requirement in this time. "Go back. It's just fear. Go back and finish!" Gunpoint wasn't a favored technique of the Layartebian government but when it was necessary, it was used, this being necessary.

The night bore on, strange occurances happening throughout the course of the night. The first came in fright as the water around the dig site and at the dig site, including bottles of water for drinking, all turned to blood. The second was an attack by a swarm of locusts, tens of thousands of them swarming over the craft, the tents, the workers, and the ground. They too vanished as if nothing ever happened. Then there came hail, powerful hail that slammed into the ground and slammed into the men standing around. By midnight, though, the job was complete and the events ceased.

The morning fog rolled in just before dawn and the operation commenced. The crew of the ship were experts in working in fog and smoke, they had to be. Using calculations they took before the fog and smoke, they worked in pinpoint measures. The crane was put over the tent as it was retracted. The three lines were brought down to connect to the lifting straps and the cables connected. The craft would be comfortably inside one of the bays, the middle one for this operation. The lifting of the craft was done well and slow. As it was picked up from its resting place, the sand fell out underneath it, the lifting straps holding tight. As the craft ascended into the fog, the crane came around and centered on the cargo hold. The craft swung lightly above the deck and the crews on the deck worked to center it. Using holding lines, they both pulled and tugged heavily, trying to stop the swinging. It took a few minutes but when it was done, the crane lowered the craft into the cargo hold. Blocks had been placed so that the craft was held above the floor, allowing viewing of the underside. Once lowered into the cargo hold, the doors above were closed and the tent replaced. The outline of the craft was still in the ground. With the tent replaced, the steel walls were removed, allowing water to rush back onto the site. Within two hours, water rushed against the ground, hiding the hole and bringing sand with it. "We have a succes!" The report transmitted to the Emperor was quick, short, and to the point.

Within the next twelve hours, the entire dig site was cleaned up and packed away aboard the ship. Then, the ship began its trek northward, to a military port off the eastern coast of Maine. It was making eight knots, moving slowly in the calm seas.

The journey was, more or less, twenty-one hundred nautical miles. It was, at eight knots, a journey that would take eleven days. However, as the ship entered the Atlantic Ocean, it would find much calmer seas and much more favorable conditions to make best speed, fourteen knots. It would travel to Machias Bay at that speed, near the border with Celtayoshian Canada. At this harbor was a very large facility, covered and hardenened. This would allow them to take out the cargo and load it onto a truck to carry it to the holding facility. A facility was already in existence for this task, buried deep in a mountain inside a Maine mountain. The entire trip from the facility to the mountain would be done underground, through a massive tunnel. The tunnel had been constructed decades earlier for the transport of ballistic missile submarines from a construction facility to the port, to allow them to enter the water largely undetected. The port was natural but some modifications had been done on it. The largest of these was to allow a depth of two hundred feet. Occassionally, dredging operations would be undertook to ensure that the floor of the port was kept clear. This would allow SSBNs to travel out of the port at one hundred and fifty feet, all the way to the ocean.

Along the journey, Dr. Howe and his team worked overnight, translating the underside of the spacecraft. They found the complete writings of the Koran, Bible, Torah, and other religious documents. They found the DNA structure of human beings, the composition of air, and other scientific facts. It was chilling, to say the least.

Chapter Five
"Unkempt Thoughts"

"This is outrage. Such heresy cannot be tolerated in a civilized country as this." The man speaking was the Bishop of Layarteb, appointed by the Vatican only seven months prior to the release of the Mayan documents. He was a young man, no older than forty. Before joining the priesthood when he was twenty-four he was a soldier in the Layartebian military. He cited that his experiences in war convinced him to worship a higher power, that being Jesus Christ. He entered the priesthood shortly thereafter. He was speaking to about two dozen people, including the top Muslim cleric of Layarteb, the highest rabbi in Layarteb, and the leaders of other faiths, save paganism.

"Indeed this is. We need to re-establish our authority. Pagan levels have broken forty percent and there is no doubt that these documents will cause a surge in pagan belief and ideology. A surge in that will undoubtedly push our levels lower and undermine us. We cannot allow this to happen." The rabbi said.

They were meeting in the penthouse apartment of the rabbi. It was large, befitting of the man who controlled the entire Jewish faith in the entire Empire of Layarteb. He lived in Layarteb City, along with the rest of those in attendance. Together, they controlled some 40.6% of the faith in Layarteb. 42.4% was pagan, 7% atheist, and 10% cited no religious faith whatsoever or agnostic, for short. Their faithes included Roman Catholicism, Protestanism and its sects, other Christain religions, Judaism, Islam, and native religions. Many of the religions were 100s and 1000s of years old, Judaism being the oldest. They were beyond uneasy with the Mayan documents.

"What should we do about this?" The Muslim cleric asked. "I personally don't wish to declare a Holy War in Layarteb. I wish not for the consequences of such an act."

"No. We will not go that far. Such will not be necessary and should not be necessary. What we must do is solidify our positions and our power. These godless f**** cannot proceed with these documents. I can recall of a time when this country was largely Catholic, albeit they worshipped Jesus and as such we did not approve, but God is better than gods or no God. I cannot stress this enough that we must put aside our differences, our histories, and our clashes over the centuries. Orthodox and Catholic, Islam and Judaism. We must all seek to strive against a common foe."

"And who is that?" The Bishop asked, nodded at the words of the native priest. "The Emperor?"

"By far and large he is the source of this. He must be removed from power. He must not be allowed to continue such blasphemy and such godless ways."

"I understand. You are talking revolution though."

"Yes I am. Who is not?" There was no denial. "Very well. We must establish what we know to be true and what we know to be the way. [i]"But we, what. We cannot. We don't have the forces to start a rebellion. What we have would be squashed within minutes by the army."

"Therein we need a cause. We need a viable cause."

"Democracy." One man blurted out from the rear. "Democracy. There is a large group of democrats. They're underground mostly but they number some eight or nine million. We could enlist them. We could..."

"But what about the ban on public demonstration."

"True it doesn't allow us a tool for this. But, oh God bless my soul. What if we have them incite a demonstration, maybe throw some rocks. It would cause the soldiers to fire into the crowd. The media would eat it up." The Bishop said. "That is the work of Satan though."

"They will be considered Holy Warriors. They will ascend straight to heaven."

"Will they?" The native priest said with skepticism to the Muslim cleric. He didn't like the idea one bit. "That is absurd. They'll be slaughtered. They won't go to heaven, they'll go to nowhere. That won't get them anywhere. Are we to use people as pawns in our game?"

"You have little say in this matter." The cleric became defensive.

"Oh I don't?"

"No. Now just be quiet. We must draw this to a close. I will get in touch with the leader of the democratic resistance immediately. Go with God my friends and let this be a precursor to what we need." The Bishop said. The meeting was over only minutes later and everyone returned to their respective homes or churches or what not. It had been put into action. The Council of the Priests, as it would be called, had essentially sealed the fate of billions.

Why? It's entirely possible. It would not be beyond the ancient Egyptians' capabilities to construct even the Great Pyramid at Giza (the most famous of the pyramids)- it would have taken a massive workforce and a lot of time, ingenuity and energy. Herodotus reports scaffolding was used, while other scholars have postulated that the Egyptians used a cement-like process, something they were known to have used before (although the ancient Romans are credited with inventing cement proper). This is the Wikipedia article on Giza:

In the Central District of Christos City lay the President's Residence. It was a massive mansion located in the center of the entire city. The President sat at his office chair, around him sit other high members of the government. The President watched closely as the doctor explained the findings in the Yucatan. Once the program was finished the President turned off the television. Still looking towards the television he spoke.

"Thomas, do not release this document. These godless pigs are not giving the full truth, this I know for certain. Layarteb is a heretic state of pagans, make sure all of their programs are taken off of our airways. And John double our soldiers along the borders. This can not spread by word of mouth."

Behind the president Secretary of Internal Affairs, Thomas Blate spoke.

"I will see what I can do Alex. I can't guarentee that there won't be rumors but I can pretty much assure you that this won't spread."

"Good, also try getting together an expedition to the ancient temples we have. Do not allow anyone into or near the temples without my express permission. The team you will assemble will search the temples for any more ancient texts."

The Secretary nodded. Secretary of Defense John Neal spoke next.

"Alex, they are going to notice our forces building up along the borders. What do we say?"

"Simple, we believe Mexican fighters have fled to the border region to avoid capture. Our forces are there to make sure we get them all."

The three finished their brandy quietly and both secretaries left after saying their good-byes to the president. The president poured himself another glass of brandy and slumped down in his chair. He spoke to himself out loud.

"This could turn bad."

In the Western District of Christos City, a man who's face was covered in the shadows, sat in his chair. On his computer he was reading recent government transmissions, some where to the Zapatistas, others were to generals. One message caught his eye. It was a direct transmission from President Christos to the empire of Layarteb. Eagerly he clicked the message and read it rapidly. This is interesting, he thought to himself. He had seen the television program about the ancient Mayan texts, but thought nothing of it. For to doubt our lord was to surely condemn ourselves to eternal damnation. He clicked another related transmission to a Southern Tanian general. The transmission ordered him to deploy over three quarters of his soldiers to the Yucatan/Tanian border. They obviously didn't want the news to spread. The man then picked up his black phone and dialed 1. Immediately his guard picked up.

"Yes Sir?"

"Send in Colonel Terrance. Tell him it i urgent."

The man then hanged up the phone and waited for only several minutes. There was a knock on his door, and he told the person to come in. Colonel Terrance walked in, who was newly appointed as the commander of the Black Hand's soldiers. The man waited for the Colonel to get himself comfortable before speaking.

"Colonel Terrance. I assume you have read the reports the Layarteb scientists have found?"

"Yes sir, I have read them over quite a few times. Personally I do not believe these stories. That entire nation is made up of those who deny the true lord, they are foolish and don't know what's good for them."

"That may be so Colonel. Perphaps they need a little guidance to show them the way?"

The Colonel knew were this was heading, and he kept quiet.

"Colonel, pick out three teams for me. All three are to have different equipment for three different types of attacks. This will be our first international attack, so see to it that this works."

"As you command Lord Zeither."

"Good, now go along. I have much to attend to."

The Colonel stood up, bowed and walked out the door.

Nah let's keep it in this thread.

The Emperor looked over at his desk. "We're trying to destroy the Church? That's a new one to us." He laughed and drafted a reply to the Cottish Emperor:

"The Empire of Layarteb will not retract its findings nor are we looking to destroy the Church or any religion. We wish that you please clamp down on such fundamentalists throughout your country. Thank you."

The Emperor looked at the escalating situation. Protests were forming in the streets. He placed a call to each of his embassies, personally, and informed them that the findings may incite chaos throughout the world. Vigiliance was key. Layartebian soldiers at the embassies would have to defend the embassies if necessary.

IC: The problems started when the protesters who came to protest at 7 AM exceeded the estimated 500 protesters, but instead turned out to be 50 000 protesters by 8 AM when they started to march on the Layartebian embassy. The 100 cops sent to keep the protesters under control, but they quickly found themselves outnumbered. The embassy was in the middle of Cotlandstad, so the cops had about an hour to get ready for a real clash when they got to the street where the embassy lay.

DCSI Fisher was the senior cop at the embassy, who had been under armed protection (ten cops with MP-5s) since the news were first broadcasted. Right now, he had 300 local cops and 170 Federal Police agents at the embassy, along with two dogs and 20 teargas grenades. They had some fire engines with them so they could spray any demonstrators who tried something, but they feared that this would get bloody. Fisher was an old school police officer, nearly 60, and had more then 35 years of experience in the police. He knew how to handle people, but he didn't want anyone to get hurt. So, he had to talk to the Layartebians to get the lay of the land, so to speak.

Fisher walked up to the Layartebian embassy and demanded to get to speak with someone there. When he got the opportunity, he identified himself with his badge and ID before he quickly laid out the situation.

"I'm DCSI Fisher from the Federal Police. Right now, we have less then an hour untill fifty thousand protesters will be here, angry at your nation because of that crap in Yucatan. I have three hundred and seventy cops here to keep them at bay and protect the embassy and all Layartebians with more on their way. That is why I need to know what defensive measures you are taking. MacCarthy was in control of The Catholic Church in Greater Eire and as such he was under direct control of the pope. The Pontiff's word was religious law in Greater Eire. Birth Control was not available in any store, abortions were illegal, and the death penalty was outlawed for all but those who had committed treason, among other things that would only be considered religious law in most countries not laws enforced by the state. The Pope had a serious amount of influence within the Commonwealth. That is why MacCarthy was extremely concerned about the Vatican being under direct control of a foreign power.
"What is it you suggest we do?" Seamus asked.

"Sir, you may disagree with me, but I suggest we separate from the Roman Catholic Church."

"And become godless heathens?" Seamus inquired rather forcefully.

"No. What I suggest is that the Commonwealth of Greater Eire forms it's own Church." MacCarthy said.

"My interest is piqued. Continue." Seamus said.

"Yes, sir. The Church would stay exactly the same as the Roman Catholic church doctrinally. We would be forming the Tenth Catholic Rite." MacCarthy stated.

"Would this Church operate under state control or independently?" Seamus asked.

"The Church would operate independently of the state." MacCarthy said.

"Indeed. What would this new Rite be called?"

"The Hibernian Catholic Church, sir."

"I like the sound of it. You're approved, make the plans for the split."

"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."

MacCarthy held his hand out and grasped Seamus's hand before turning to leave the office. The announcement would meet stiff public opposition and he could very well find himself ostracized by his fellow clergy. But Archbishop MacCarthy was more than a man of God, he was also an astute politician. He was fully aware of what could happen if the Commonwealth allowed itself to be subject to foreign influence. The break needed to take place as soon as possible.

The press conference could have gone better. As soon as the words "leaving the Roman Catholic Church." left his mouth every reporter in the room stood up and started yelling at him. Someone had even thrown a microphone. MacCarthy left the podium and the room was cleared. He resumed the announcement without problems.

The ambassador had been pulled from his meeting. "50,000!" That was all he heard. "370 isn't going to be enough but I thank the effort. Please, keep a perimeter some 200 meters from the embassy with your cops. We'll cover the rest. Let me inform the Emperor immediately." He rushed to a phone and placed an emergency call to the Emperor. The time was eight hours ahead, so it was just after midnight in Layarteb City. Things were, politically, winding down, almost 5,500 miles away.

Based at the embassy was a small force, just enough for basic protection. The core contingent were eighty soldiers, highly trained, but only for defending the embassy against numbers significantly smaller than 50,000. In addition, a small contingent of Layartebian Black Ops were at the embassy, numbering sixteen in total, being from Force Victor, the bodyguards of Layartebian diplomats and government officials.

They had only a small arms cache. The biggest rifle caliber they had was 7.62mm. All eighty regulars were armed with standard M30A1 Assault Rifles. The Black Ops totted the M37A1 Special Assault Carbine. There were a number of M33A2 Pistols being used by both regulars and Black Ops, a dozen M35 Light Machine Guns, a dozen M34 SLATDWs for anti-tank use, several M36 Sniper Rifles, two dozen or so M42 Squad Automatic Weapons, and a countless number of M43 Submachineguns.

When the Emperor picked up the phone, he immediately became concerned. He too only heard, "50,000!" To that he responded, "Alright. We're getting underway immediately. Unfortunately the best we can do is sixteen hours. We can put in paratroopers within sixteen hours. Is this force armed? You don't know. Probably would expect it. Alright, initiate defensive plan. Yes. Keep the line clear and refer to me on line fourteen. Understood? Best of luck!" The Emperor immediately picked up the phone to the General of the Army. "General. Yes we have a situation in Cotlandstad. Our embassy may be overrun by some 50,000 protesters. Yes the Yucatán. I understand. I will contact the Cotland government immediately for deployment of paratroopers and light armored vehicles. I want the following ready within the next four hours. It is an eleven hour flight over there and I want to be there within sixteen hours, understood? Alright. Got a pen? Yes. Very well. The following: two Battalions of airborne infantry numbering 1,944 soldiers, appropriate M2A4 Bradley IFVs, M2007A3 Scorpions, M2008A1 Dingos, M2010A1 Bushmasters, M2012A1 Marauders, and M813A1 5 ton trucks. Understood? Very well. Also ready a small detachment of AH-6J Littlebirds, AH-64D Apache Longbows, UH-60L Black Hawks, and UH-96A Panthers. I want the Panthers to be ready first for evacuation. Alright? Very well."

The Emperor picked up the phone and immediately called the Cotlandian Emperor. "Sir. Yes this is the Emperor of Layarteb. I have been briefed on the situation inside Cotlandstad. I wish to protect my embassy at the fullest. I have authorized a detachment of airborne paratroopers and light armor to be deployed immediately to protect the embassy. In addition, I would like to place some helicopters on the ground. I would like to stage at the airport and establish a perimeter of operations to allow my forces to evacuate the embassy if need be. I would have to fly in the forces immediately via C-5B Galaxy and C-17A Globemaster III. What I need is your permission sir. I do not wish this little incident to grow into something that we just can't control."

Imperial Palace, 8.11 AM
The Emperor was pulled away from a emergency meeting with the cabinet to talk to the Layartebian Emperor.

"Emperor, you have my authorization. Please have them land at Fieldrow Air Force Base. It's 11 kilometers to the north of Cotlandstad. I'm declaring marshall law in Cotlandstad now and calling in the Home Guards as well. When will they be there? I don't want any of my people hurt, Emperor. I trust your soldiers will not attack innocents."

After the Emperor had spoken with his Layartebian counterpart, he turned to the generals and politicians around the table.

"General West, the order is given. Send in your men. General Gould, call in the Home Guard. I want this mess sorted immediately. I am hereby declaring a state of marshall law in Cotlandstad."

Streets of Cotlandstad, 8.17 AM
"I repeat, marshall law has been declared by the Emperor! Return to your homes immedately! Anyone found on the streets after 9 AM will be arrested and detained! The Home Guard have been activated! I repeat, marshall law..."

The squad cars were announcing the message from the Imperial Palace to everyone in Cotlandstad, who stood and looked at the growing police presence in the streets when the first 5-ton trucks started to roll down the streets. One of the five Divisions around Cotlandstad had been ordered to enter the city to maintain order along with the police and Home Guards. Soldiers were knocking on the doors of every Layartebian national the goverment knew of in Cotlandstad and ushered them to waiting trucks and on to Fieldrow. They would be safe there.

Meanwhile, some of the soldiers headed for the Imperial Palace and for the Layartebian embassy, but couldn't get anywhere. The road was blocked by demonstrators who ignored them. The worst part was that they didn't do anything wrong. They just blocked their way. More then 1 000 of them sitting in the middle of the road. They would have to wait till 9 AM before they tried to move them by force.

Outside the Layartebian Embassy, 8.18 AM
The rioters were getting closer. Now, the police officers could hear their chants. It was mainly anti-Layartebian slogans, but also some against the Emperor. Unfortunately the cops weren't many enough to stop them, so they had to set up barricades to keep them from the embassy. So far, they had placed in three defensive lines. One 500 meters from the embassy, a second 350 meters away, and the last 200 meters away from the embassy. They all consisted of police cars and portable steel fences, along with cops with shields, batons, fire hoses, pistols and shotguns. More cops were coming, now they were 500 cops to protect an area of 500 meters in each direction of the embassy. It was a mission doomed to fail unless they got more support.

Protester march, 8.18 AM
Some of the protesters left when they heard the marshall law being declared, but there still were some 48 000 demonstators marching on the embassy. Some cops had tried to stop them, but it had been to no avail. They had been beaten up by the demonstrators, and their sidearms distributed to the leaders. In the wake of the demonstrators lay vandalized stores, cars and other items. Some had even sacked a weapons store and now sported hunting rifles and shotguns. They would not be stopped untill they got all Layartebians out of Cotland! Some were already at the police blockades, and could report massive police representation. But not enough. Not by far!
Cotland

At 9 AM the marshall law went to effect. The military units who had been stopped 40 minutes earlier started to arrest people for violating the orders, most of them at gunpoint.

The main wave of protesters arrived at the police blockade in front of the Layartebian embassy, now consisting of 480 police officers, 600 Home Guards and 16 Sigma operatives versus 48 000 angry demonstrators, of which 1 900 are armed with stolen weapons.

The demonstrators chanted anti-Layartebian slogans while TV crews were filming the situation, sending it to all corners of the world. They showed the police in their riot gear, standing behind their shields, with Home Guards side by side with their M-16s, and the Sigma operatives, currently dressed in dark blue SWAT gear with assorted weapons while the demonstrators banged on the shields, trying to get the cops to move. Right behind the cops, several attack dogs barked and growled at the demonstrators, excited by all the racket.

It happened too fast for even the cameras to pick up. Out of the blue, bullets started to hail down on the shields of the cops, downing two cops in the process. Some fired at the embassy building, while the gunfire made the demonstrators start a stampeede. The Home Guards followed orders and let noone pass, firing clip after clip into the crowd as they withdrew. Many demonstrators died there, killed by the 5.56mm rounds from the M-16A2s that the Home guard wielded.

The fire hoses managed to hold the demonstrators at bay while the surviving cops and Home Guards withdrew to the second line, this one equipped with shotguns and cars for cover. Teargas started to fill the street, and about sixty cops started to run forward with their batons raised, beating down anyone they could. It wasn't much to stop the demonstrators, but enough for the defenders to fortify themselves behind the line. Some cops and even some Layartebians were targeted by rioters with scoped hunting rifles, who in turn were taken by the Sigma operatives. The situation was getting out of hand.

The embassy was in full defense readiness. That meant that the embassy guards were in defensive positions, prepared to defend the embassy. The civilian personnel were armed as well. Everyone fought! The only people that hid were the ambassador and her family. The guards defending the embassy were situated in windows, on the roof, and behind sandbags. At 9:00 A.M., everything came to a head. After an hour of tensions, the crowd reached the first barricade, 500m from the embassy. They were massive, numbering in the tens of thousands.

Then, about ten minutes into it, the first gunshots rang out. From their positions on the roof, two snipers and a machine gunner could see what had happened. Some of the people had armed themselves. Now they were firing at the soldiers and cops, who were doing a brilliant job defending the embassy. "Sir, they're shooting at the cops. Orders?" One of the snipers asked the commander.

The commander was Captain John Marshall. He had seen service in Kaliningrad, watching four of his fellow comrades-in-arms die before his eyes in the city during the final hours of the final battle. He was more than trained for the job. "Are you taking fire?"

"No sir."

"Hold for now. Plan of action is as such," he was addressing everyone. "If the Cotlandian forces fall back to two hundred meters and they must fall back to the embassy then we will engage. Until that two hundred meter line is broken, hold fast. If you are fired upon and can get the bastard that shot at you, take him down. Otherwise, hold fast. We don't have as much ammunition as I would like so make your shots count men. Resupply is on the way!"

"Roger that sir." A few stray bullets smacked into the side of the embassy. "Goddamn buggers are shooting at us. See anyone?"

"No. But if I do you'll know it."

"I'll keep that in mind." They shared a laugh as they watched the situation unfold.

Back in Layarteb, a massive force was assembling at an airbase just north of Layarteb City. C-17s and C-5s sat waiting, being loaded by personnel. Already en route was a team of Special Forces. They were onboard a C-17A Globemaster III along with relief supplies, namely ammunition and medicine that was always ready, just in case. The sixty-four Special Forces soldiers consisted of twelve members from the 1st Special Forces Unit, Delta Force, and fifty-two from the 4th Special Forces Unit, Rangers. The situation was barely two hours old and already it was getting out of hand. Layartebian forces would begin arriving at 1300, Layarteb time. The C-17s and C-5s weren't waiting for flights, they were taking off as soon as they were fully loaded. Fighters from Ireland would escort them to Cottish airspace and then escort them to the airbase. Time was crucial!

Layartebian Embassy, 9.58 AM
The situation was growing critical. The rioters were still there, and the defenders were running out of ammo. There were 320 cops, 400 Home Guards and the 16 Sigma operatives still at the embassy. The rest were dead or captured. Most likely dead. The demonstrators pressed on, forcing the defenders to consider abandoning the second line. Gunfire was still being exchanged, and it was only increasing now. The Army had yet to arrive. It was busy protecting government buildings and arresting demonstrators in other parts of the city. Only a small force of three M998 Humvees (12 full-time soldiers) had made it to the scene, but they couldn't get closed then the 200 meter barricade. Their M240 MGs would come in handy when the time came for the defenders to pull back.

Helicopters were starting to come as well. AH-6J Little Birds flew recon at the embassy, radioing the embassy that they could were able to fly a few people out. Unfortunately, the .300 Winchester rounds in the hunting rifles that the rioters had managed to force one of the Little Birds down into the crowd, killing scores of people. This only infuriated them more, blaming the Layartebians for their deaths.

"Holy shit! Sir, look at that!" The AH-6 Littlebird was spoking and spinning. It's tail rotor became disabled and it was going down hard. With all the people around, not hitting anyone would be a miracle. They could see that the Cottish forces had pulled back to the 200m barricade. It was only a matter of time now before they would have to retreat to the embassy.

Another shot narrowly missed one of the snipers, though he had seen the shot. He smiled and pulled the trigger. He cleared the bolt and ejected the empty cartride. "Got one." He had another nine rounds in the magazine and another ten magazines by his side. "I don't think we have enough ammunition to kill everyone of these bastards sir."

"Hold fast. Let the Cottish forces do their best. When they fall back, open fire. Anyone that approaches within fifty meters is a target. Get on the loudspeaker."

A pre-recorded announcement began to play in Cottish. In translation it said, simply, "This embassy is property of the Empire of Layarteb. Any one within two hundred meters of it is considered a hostile and will be fired upon!" It just repeated over and over, louder than the screaming and chanting of the crowd.

"Get ready men, they're not listening!"

Layartebian Embassy, 11.22 AM
"Ok men, this is it! It's do or die now! Literally! Remember, one shot one dead!" DCSI Fisher had a final pep-talk with the few survivors of the blocades. In his hand, he had his own personal 4" barreled Colt Python. This little devil fired six .357 rounds, each with enough force to stop a man. He was ready for the last stand in a battle that had lasted for two and a half hours. Scattered around him were 132 cops, 185 Home Guards and 11 Sigma operatives, each holding a MP-5 or M-16A2. They were down to their last clips, and the radios were dead. When they had fired their last shots, they would all run like hell to the embassy and beg to get inside. This was it! DCSI Fisher showed himself and yelled at the advancing rioters:

"In the name of the Emperor! Stop where you are, or we will shoot you! This is your final warning! Stop now and lay down your arms!"

The crowd pressed on, now only 230 meters away.....

"Sir, they're getting closer." The sniper fired again. He reloaded the magazine. "Ten for ten. How about that Charlie?"

"Showboat. I've got two alright. I can't help it if they shoot at your ugly mug more than me."

"Distance is about two thirty. What do you think sir?"

"I affirm. Let the Cottish people in immediately."

"Alright." The men at the gates were preparred. The gates stood eleven feet high, along with the rest of the solid brick wall around the embassy and was well reinforced. The distance from the gate to the building was one hundred meters, enough room for a point defense. Crews were placing Claymore mines along the path but they feared that they wouldn't have enough time.

Fisher fired off his last rounds and saw that the rest of the defenders were out of ammo too. This was it. Just then, as if his prayers had been heard, the gates to the embassy were opening. They could make it.

"Boys, the gates are opening! RUN!"

And the defenders ran, followed closely by angry rioters. In through the gate...

...and right into the arms of a Layartebian welcoming party. Fisher counted his men. 184 men, all wounded and bloody. He himself had been hit by a bullet in the left thigh and two bullets in the kevlar vest. Looking at the closing gates, Fisher introduced himself again.

"I'm DCSI Fisher. Leader of the defenders. Do you have medical personell here? As you can see, my men are wounded sir."

The Captain smirked. "You have done well. Go inside to the second floor. You'll find a lounge there. Make yourselves at home. We've got the rest. Guys, give them a hand!" The Captain retreated back to the compound along with the men on the lawn. "Engage at will boys!"

The angry rioters approached, crossing the 200m barrier. Their hope was that some suppressive fire would be enough to make them run away.

At once, they opened fire. They had three machine guns set up nad instantly those opened fire. The snipers peered into their scopes and picked off those who had weapons. They could be more selective about their targets and they would need to be. They had the most powerful ammunition, 7.62 x 51mm.

The regular soldiers opened up as well. They had their M30A1 Assault Rifles shouldered and were in defensive positions all around the embassy, mostly in the windows. They had placed sandbags on the windowsills and had their weapons supported well. They were all firing in single-shot fire, using a single bullet, popping off targets, aiming right for the center of mass. They were using scopes and iron sights. For the most part, they all had small scopes.

"Keep it up men." They all changed out their first magazines in and around the same time. They had plenty more and they would need it.

After a little while, three familiar shapes appared past the buildings, flying in a close formation at 120 km/h 20 meters above the ground.

The Captain was monitoring the radio but firing at the same time. He had a microphone to allow him the ability to not have to push any buttons. "Roger that, this is Captain Marshall of the Layartebian embassy. Whatever you can give us, please do. We're holding tight so far, god knows how many we put down. I've sustained no casualties. We're holding them off to about one hundred and forty-five meters from the compound. You wouldn't happen to have napalm anywhere would you?" He smiled and fired away. In six shots he put down five people. He reloaded to his third magazine and opened fire.

"That's a negative Captain. We don't have permission to utilize anything else then the miniguns. We'll start our attack run now, sieze fire. We don't want any friendly fire."

The pilot in the Little Bird was a little frustrated. These were Cottish citizens, but still they were traitors. And the only thing in store for traitors were death! That was what all Cots had been raised with, and that was what all Cots lived with. Therefor the pilots in the three Little Birds didn't hesitate to fire 7,62 x 51mm rounds into the crowds, killing many of the traitors.

Ten minutes after the hectic request from the Layartebians, two UH-60L Black Hawks landed at the top of the embassy building. The crew chiefs of the two choppers pushed out ten crates out of each chopper. On ten of them, it was labeled "Ammunition, 5.56 x 45 mm, 1 000 rounds, Imperial Cottish Army". On eight it was labeled "Ammunition, 7,62 x 51 mm, 1000 rounds, Imperial Cottish Army", and on two it was listed "Medical Supplies, Imperial Cottish Air Force". It would probably be enough for them to last a few hours.

Captain Marshall smiled. "We have just under two hundred of your men in our refuge in the lounge. The medical supplies would be perfect for them. We thank you for the ammunition as well," he fired a few shots and stopped talking, "wait one!" He fired more and reloaded. "Alright. We are thankful for the ammunition, please add it to our bill. If you wish to evacuate your men we will provide cover. They held up well and I wish that all of their names be recorded and the names of any they lost. I wish to petition, wait one," he fired more. Then he screamed down the hall, it coming over the microphone and the radio. "Protect that corner. They're building a ladder. Get a frag over there or something. DO IT NOW!" He returned to fighting. "If you wish for extract we're here to help." It was only 11:28 A.M. The first Layartebian units on the ground from the mainland wouldn't be there until 9:00 P.M. They had a long way to go!

Command had just codenamed the embassy Fireplace, a description which seemed to fit. While he thought of these thoughts, he opened up on the rioters in the street below yet again. He would have to refuel and rearm soon. 'Well, we'll escort the casevac home and get sorted again.'

By now, the first army units started to make contact with the now 46 000 rioters massed in the area where the Layartebian embassy lay. Reports from the Imperial Palace said that the palace guards had shot dead twenty rioters who tried to climb the fences. Other then that, they hadn't dared to try anything against the Emperor.

Elements of the 75th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, who were part of 2nd Division, now stood sixteen blocks east of the Layartebian embassy. They could get no further, at least not untill they got the many rioters out of the street. The street was filled with rioters, and the Cottish M2A3 IFVs, M113A4 APCs and M998/M1114 Humvees with XM-312 .50 MGs were no match for the thousands of rioters. This would need to be a mainly airborne operation, combined with snipers and MGs.

The two massive MH-53M Pave Low IV helicopters came in from the west, firing their mounted M134 miniguns at the crowd below. Inside were seventeen crates of 7,62 x 51 mm ammo, twelve of 5,56 x 45 mm ammo and six filled with 12,7 x 99 mm ammo. The contents of those two crates were going to fuel the three XM-312 machine guns that were inside the helicopters. The Cottish Army had kindly granted them to be borrowed to the Layartebians for this special occation. When the choppers had been gutted for their cargo, they started to load the surviving Cots and the dead Layartebian soldier.

Another MH-53M was en route, filled with more ammo and medical supplies, as well as 11 men from the Cottish Black Ops organization called Theta. They were equipped with G-36C assault carbines with M203/M40 sniper rifles/M-249 SAW, MP-5N SMGs and twin Desert Eagle .50 pistols, in addition to the ordinary loadout of grenades and flashbangs. They were all trained in combat medical attention, and would likely get to use that training for all it was worth.

He fired off two more shots and reloaded. "When you drop that ammunition, could you drop it on the back side of the embassy? Over."

The helicopter came in the back. The Captain hadn't moved from his position and had three men helping upload. "What's the status on that ammunition?"

"Sir, they've given us a few thousand rounds of 5.56 and 7.62. We found some 12.7 though sir."

He laughed. "Coldfire 3-5, this is Fireplace. Thanks for the ammunition. We can't use the 12.7 millimeter though, we don't have any weapons big enough for that." He popped off three more shots. "Is there any tally on how many we got so far?" He shot off a few more shots. "Over."

They had blamed the closing of the borders on a completely false claim of a surge in illegal immigrants. He shut the VCR off and flicked on the National News Station. He quickly grew bored of their ignorant assertions and turned it off as well. He retired to his bedchamber.

The next day the Archbishop found on his desk a large manilla envelope. Pulling the letter opener out of its case he tore it open and gazed over it. It was a petition. A petition with tens of thousands of names on it. He slumped into his chair and skimmed over the first page. It was titled Petition for Religious Freedom in The Commonwealth of Greater Eire. He ran his hands through his hair and leaned back before grabbing the document and hurling it at the far wall. He slid back into his chair and buried his face in his hands.

The response came quickly. Within two hours of his recieving the letter all the News Stations were posting his utter refusal of the petition as their top story. It was obvious that many would be rather...unhappy with the decision.

It was three days before the majority of the petition signers left their homes in the middle of the night. They formed a caravan, travelling the newly constructed highway through the sweltering tropics of the Amazon Basin. They reached the only gate connecting Layarteb and the Commonwealth two days later. As the first cars rolled up to the gate, a large contingent of armed guards halted them in front of the gate. Tanks were positioned alongside the road, their guns turning ominously toward the people as they left their cars. They approached the gate hesitantly. There were thousands of them, perhaps 40,000. The soldiers announced boldy that they could not cross. The people responded with a hail of rocks, tire irons, and urine bags. It was all the excuse soldiers needed. They opened fire. They opened fire from the ground. They opened fire from the gun turrets atop the watchtowers. They opened fire from the humvees that tore through the crowd. The tanks launched artillary shells at the fleeing mass, blowing up cars and sending bodies into the trees. The helicopters came next, pursuing the people through the jungle and killing what survivors there were. The bodies were found were thrown into the defensive cement ditches that ran along the border and incinerated them. Word of this incident could never get out, the public could never learn of the thousands who had been slaughtered in cold blood. But the world would learn of this travesty, for it all happened before the horrifed eyes of the Layartebian border guards.

"Sir, sir, what the f*** are they doing!" SFC. Jackson was a green in the Layartebian military. He had joined up for his two years of service only sixteen months prior to the incident and had been stationed at the border crossing for eight of those months. "Sir!" He cried out, watching in horror, unable to move, as he stared at the massacre unfolding across the border.

He was calling to the commander in charge of the border crossing, a Captain Michaels. Michaels was horrified as well, watching from the tower. There was a two hundred foot zone of no-man's land between the two gates. "Stand down Jackson. It's on that side of the border. Not ours!"

"But sir they're..."

"STAND DOWN!" He watched in horror as the massacre unfolded. What in God's name! He was horrified beyond a reasonable doubt. "Get me command on the line." He turned to the tower's radioman. "NOW!"

"Yes sir." The radioman was patched through to command about a minute later, the massacre still continuing. "Command. This is Captain Michaels at border gate SEV-GNP-01. Sir, we're watching a massacre unfold across the border. God thousands. Maybe ten thousands. No we are not taking fire. I can't tell. But sir. But...Yes sir!" He threw the phone down and shook his head. This is no God.

He turned to his men and opened his eyes, tears running down them. "Stand down. We are not to get involved in the affairs of a foreign nation unless they directly affect us. We are not taking any direct fire so we are here to protect our border. Understood?" He was talking on the main radio band that connected to every soldier. "Understood?"

"Yes sir." Soon enough there were ninety people saying "Yes sir!"

That night in debriefing, Captain Michaels looked over at his men, each one of them having just died inside. "Gentlemen. This incident never happened. Understood?" Everyone looked blankly at him. "UNDERSTOOD!" He slammed his fist on the table. They nodded but spoke not. "Very well. I find one letter home to mommy or wify about this and I'll personally shoot you myself. Got it!" He walked out, lighting a cigarette. I've got enough firepower here to destroy that outpost. All I need is the goddamn order!

"Fireplace, Coldfire 4-6 speaking. 3-5 returned to base to refuel and rearm. We're providing cover for you now. A flight of 4 Little Birds. Estimates are that there still are about 43 000 hostiles remaining. Didn't you get the three MGs in the Pave Lows? Expect more ammo soon. Anything else you need? Over."

The pilot wondered why they didn't get the heavy firepower, but decided to let it go for now. Instead he called to Coldfire 3-5 to bring along a few XM-312 12,7 x 99 mm machine guns for the besieged Layartebians. They would need it. His thoughts were interrupted when his chopper started to take small-arms fire from the rioters, diverting them to the well-being of his crew and helicopter. He pulled the AH-6J into a little spin, lowered the altitude to 30 feet, high enough to avoid hitting the lightpoles and yet low enough to cause maximum havoc with the two M134 miniguns that were mounted on the wingstubs of his beloved Little Bird. He had 8000 rounds for the two miniguns, enough to cause massive havoc among the mainly unarmed traitors. As he started the attack run against the rioters nearest to the building, he issued a warning to the Layartebians.

"Fireplace, Coldfire 4-6. I'm gonna strafe the embassy. There's a risk of friendly fire, so take cover! Out."

After he had warned them, he waited 15 seconds before he started his run, firing off hundreds of rounds into the traitors. His wingmen did the same thing on his flanks, killing hundreds of rioters in one run.

Protesters gathered at the Imperial Palace, massive police presence

Around the Imperial Palace, things were much calmer then at the Layartebian embassy. They didn't dare to try to attack the palace, partly because of the 1700 armed elite soldiers of the 4th Guards Regiment in full battlegear and weaponry standing guard there, but mainly because of the love and respect they had for the Emperor. He had brought Cotland up from the sewage pit it had been in under the corruption of the old Parliament and increased its land holdings and wealth considerably. Many a Cot had the Emperor to thank for his life. But they still had to show that they disliked the close cooperation with the Layartebian heretics. They wanted the Emperor to come out to speak with them.

Inside the palace, the Emperor was finishing a meeting with the military commanders. Lieutenant General West, who were the regional military commander, and Major General Gould, the leader of the Home Guards, was the two most important people in this situation. According to the latest reports, there were still 43 000 rioters in the city, most of them within 16 blocks of the Layartebian embassy. The Emperor wanted to adress the rioters personally, and had suggested walking out to talk with them in person. His security staff weren't too happy for this suggestion, to say it mildly.

Nevertheless, he was almighty in Cotland, so that was how it turned out. Dressed in a plain white shirt and a jacket, Emperor Thomas I walked down past the gates of the Imperial Palace, followed closely by twenty heavily armed soldiers, to talk with the crowds. Television crews filmed every step he took and broadcasted it live to the world, and especially to Layarteb City.

All around him, the protesters wanted to shake his hand and talk with him, and he talked back with them for half an hour, showing the protesters that he cared about them and their rights but at the same time condemned the violence the rioters had started. At the end of the public apperance, he issued a statement to the public and cameras. By this time, it had become dark outside. This was not due to evening dusk, but because of tires set ablaze by the rioters in a crazy attempt to block the visibility of the pilots.

The Emperor in front of the crowds

"As you all know, Cotlandstad is under marshal law and there are Cottish soldiers and members of the Home Guard patrolling the streets on my orders. I have issued this order because of the riot that is in progress at the embassy of the Empire of Layarteb.

All persons in the streets at the Layartebian embassy will be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, unless they seize this insurgency and surrender to the military authorities there immediately. I am hereby offering an official Imperial pardon for every rioter except those who have committed serious crimes. This pardon is in effect for three hours, from now. Use your mind. Accept the pardon.

Several thousand Cottish citizens have been killed in this insurgency. Most of them by Cottish, allow me emphasise this point, Cottish attack helicopters and soldiers. The soldiers have been acting in accordance with the Security Act of 1987, which says that any attempt of riot or massive public disturbance may be met with lethal force. Therefore, we shall not take any action against the soldiers. I have no desire to kill Cottish citizens, but I, like all of you, must act in accordance with the laws that have helped make this country great.

The Layartebian delegation is acting in accordance with both Cottish and Layartebian law in defending their national soil, and they have the blessing of the Cottish government. I have spoken personally with the Layartebian emperor and given him my blessing in his wish to send in Layartebian soldiers. They will arrive in three hours, and they will show no mercy. This government have no intention of stopping them from performing any action they desire.

I ask the rioters to come to their senses and end this meaningless bloodshed immediately. I ask you, not emperor to subject, but as citizen to citizen. Let's end this senseless killing. Thank you."

OOC: Pelep, no need to apologize man...I'd rather see a ton of little posts than a few big ones...or at least that's how I like it for my RPs. Quality over quantity is a good philosophy.

"Roger that. We found the 50's! I must have missed them in the initial check. We're good. We're setting them up on the roof, the third, and the second floors." He fired off another six shots and smiled as he saw the enemies go down. This is a disaster! He looked at his watch and saw the time, it was 1400. The first Layartebian units were still seven hours away, flying inbound. Aside from the lead C-17, there were at least two dozen other C-5s and C-17s flying as well, with more taking off.

"Fireplace, Coldfire 4-6. I'm gonna strafe the embassy. There's a risk of friendly fire, so take cover! Out."

The Captain looked around. "Alright go!" He yelled as he screamed for his men to take cover. "EVERYONE GET DOWN. STRAFING RUN!" In unison, all of the people fighting, the seventy-nine soldiers, sixteen Black Ops, and the thirty-six workers all took cover. They were fighting strong, all of them. One soldier had died alright, a shot to the head, it was doubtful he even felt it. People were wounded but there were no more KIAs, yet... The majority of the kills came from the sixteen Black Ops, being able to kill with single shots on more than one occassion. Their M37s were well propped and they used their optics to sight in heads, necks, upper torsos, taking people down quicker than they ever could imagine.

When the AH-6J screamed overhead, the whole embassy shook. It couldn't have been more than ten feet above the embassy when it overflew and then dropped instantly to thirty feet off the ground, firing its M134 Miniguns without remorse. Dozens of people dropped and fell but the rioting didn't quell. Hundreds fell by the time his wingmen opened up.

"Thanks Coldfire 3-5! We needed that. Remind me to buy you a drink when this is over or do something. My men will be thankful, as will my country." He popped back up to the window and opened fire. They were STILL coming! "That's if I get through this."

He turned back to his men and called out for them to open fire. "Sir, the Cottish Emperor just spoke." One of his men said. "He just..." He went silent.

"He just what..."

"Sir we just lost Private Alex. Sniper through the heart. We have another KIA. Request permission to move him inside sir."

"Yes do so." He swore as he opened fire. "GODDAMN YOU MOTHERLESS SONS OF BITCHES!" He opened fire and ordered the XM312s to be used. They were...Their sound was legendary, putting 12.7 x 99mm bullets into hundreds of people!

The AH-6J Little Birds flew over the street three times, firing off 1300 of its rounds into the rioters, commonly known to the Cottish soldiers as the traitors. They took some small-arms fire, but ignored it for now. They would get what they deserved soon enough. After all, how much damage could a 5,56mm round from a stolen M-16A2 do?

Many rioters heard the Emperor's speech and took notice of it. They had seen their friends die from those cursed attack helicopters that they hadn't seen before, and from the damned Layartebian heretics. Several of the rioters still chanted the slogans - "the Layartebian heretic bastards shall die!", "God bless the Church, death to Layarteb!" and "Religion go, Layarteb no!" - and tried hard to get in to that symbol of heresy and paganism to drag the Layartebians into pieces as a sign of their disgust.

After a few more had been killed, about eleven thousand took the hint and headed for home. They didn't get too far though. 16 blocks away, they were taken into custody and detained by Cottish soldiers for interrogation and investigation. This included checking their hands and clothes for gunpowder residue to see if they had fired any weapons. Many of them would be freed after a while, but several hundreds of them would get a quick drop and a sudden stop within the week's end. The Emperor's speech had worked to some extent.

Still, the rioters kept coming. They attempted a new tactic. Burning tires to block the line of sight of the Cottish attack helicopters and Layartebian snipers and gunners so they could get closer and maybe take the building.

Meanwhile, the UH-60Ls kept dumping ammo to the Layartebians while firing their mounted M240s at the rioters below. Unfortunately they misdropped two crates of 5,56mm ammo. The exact ammo used by the M-16A2s that the rioters had captured. Bummer...

"Hear those chants?" One of the men said as he handed the Captain more ammunition. "Think they're going to go home?"

"With all the ammunition we've put into them? I doubt it. Made your peace with God?"

"I'm not sure what to ask of Him sir."

"Me either." He fired off another two dozen rounds. "Me either...Go get that ammo out son!"

"Yes sir!"

Deep inside the embassy, the ambassador and his immediate staff, who weren't fighting, were working to seal documents away. They were hiding many of them in the vault. Each Layartebian embassy was built atop a large vault that could only be reached through a hidden door requiring a sixteen digit key-code and a fingerprint scan. The door and the vault were meant to withstand the impact of a guided bomb. That was their job and they would need it eventually!

The Cottish Air Force were called in when the rioters started to burn tires. More presicely, a C-130J Hercules were quickly fitted with huge 3000 gallon water tanks to dump water on the rioters.

The C-130J took off from Eversman AFF 50 kilometers to the west from Cotlandstad and headed for the rioters. Its callsign was Golf 2-8, and were escorted by two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs with 250 lbs bombs mounted. They were going to bomb the idiots who opposed the Emperor. 1174 rounds of depleted uranium 30 milimeter ammunition for the GAU-8/A Avenger gatling gun was going to make them hurt.

"Fireplace, this is Golf 2-8. Flight of one Herc and two Thunderbolts. Inbound on vector 301, ten minutes out. Better take cover boys and girls. This is gonna be messy."

It was closing in on 1620 when the Cottish flight reported in. "Roger that," the Captain said, "we'll be ready, just tell us when to duck." He went back to firing. That was what he and the rest of his men had been doing. He had lost three so far, the most recent being a worker who caught a shot to the neck while firing from an exposed position, defending as the Black Ops placed more Claymores at the entrance.

The attack started at 16.45, with the two A-10s starting a steep dive, firing their Avenger cannons at the rioters. Then, they dropped three Mk-81 250 lbs bombs each on the rioters. Unfortunately, one of the bombs misdropped and smashed into the wall surrounding the Layartebian embassy, making a hole big enough for the rioters to flock thru. Anyway, after the bombs had been dropped, the C-130J came in and dropped 3000 gallons of water smack dab right in the middle of the crowd, onto the dead, dying and surviving rioters, washing away most of the bodies, blood and weapons. It alsu put out the tire fires. It was good bye rioters, and the start of the end of the rebellion. Millions, nay billions of people worldwide watched as the Cots bombed their own. Including the Emperor of Layarteb.

"Sir, here come the A-10s." One of the snipers yelled.

"Get down men!" The Captain screamed as he took cover. The first strike fell right into the rioters but the last fell dangerously close, too close. "Jesus!" The Captain said as he nodded at the strike. "Golf 2-8. You came in a little close on that one." But it was too late. A bomb fell and caught the wall, blasting out a hole, a large hole, a dangerous hole. "Golf 2-8 this is fireplace. Back off, you just blew out a wall! They're coming in now." He opened fire. "Men, protect the breech! Use the SLATDWs." Within thirty seconds, the SLATDWs were fired into the wall, killing scores of rioters. They all trained their fire on the breech but it didn't seem like it would be enough.

At 1700, the fire Claymores were detonated and the embassy appeared to be overrun...

********************

It was 0810 in Layarteb City, when the Emperor placed a call to the Cottish Emperor. He had recieved the distress call from the embassy that it was being overrun. He still had another two hours before his first soldiers would be on the ground and able to attack. He picked up the phone, "Emperor Thomas. This is the Layartebian Emperor. I am calling in regards to my embassy. I personally want to thank you for your continued assistance in this matter. The ammunition that you provided helped my men hold off until now. It appears though that this embassy will be overrun, from what I am told by a stray bomb from an A-10. Accidents happen, I understand. I am not sure how long my embassy can hold on for. Whatever happens I would like to have all bodies returned. What is the status on our nationals? We will be there in two hours."

"Emperor, We will do anything in our power to aid them. I am ordering in a helicopter with a... special operations team. I don't know how much good they can do, or even if it is possible, but they will do their best. According to the latest reports, we have in our posession one dead Layartebian soldier who got shot in the head a few hours ago. We have him in the mourge in the air force base. We have also evacuated 17 000 Layartebian citizens from various locations throughout the empire to safe locations. They are scared, but safe.

We'll keep clear air routes for your planes. It is my understanding that they are about to enter Cottish airspace, so I'll send some fighters to escort them. It's time for this nonsense to end sir. I am hereby giving your troops full authorization to do whatever they want with the rioters. As my generals like to say, you are 'weapons free'. Do you have anything on Cottish citizens in Layateb? Are your people reacting agaist Cotland? I have some reports from the embassy about some protesters there..."

The Emperor was truly ashamed of the rioters. This was going to have repricussions on the rioters.

*****

At the Layartebian embassy, hundreds of rioters with handguns stormed in the hole and charged at the Layartebians, ignoring the people dying next to them. It was pay-back time on the Layartebians for their policy of terror on religious people. God was truly with them against the great Satan that was Layarteb. At least that was what the clerics told the rioters.

Outside, people were kicking through the gates and right into the Claymores laid out by the Layartebians earlier. Many people died even before they managed to enter the area. They tried to enter the doors of the embassy building, only to be peppered with 5,56 and 7,62 mm rounds from the Layartebian weapons. There were only one word for it: Carnage...

At the perimeter, soldiers were laying more and more people in shackles for rioting and violation of the peace. It was past 17.00, and the imperial pardon was no longer in effect. Most of those here would be hanged or shot for treason.

Rioter being detained by soldiers from 2nd Division

Rioters were being detained and trialed to the full extent of the Cottish law. That usually meant a trip to the hangman, upon which they were stripped of all their posessions before they were hanged. In Cotland, it normally didn't take long for trials to start or stop. The average time someone would have to wait from they are arrested before they are trialed are 4 days. If they are found guilty in a capitol offence, they are dead the following day. Simple and effective. It was a reason why there weren't much crime in Cotland.

"Fall back! Fall back!" The Captain had given the order, the order that no one wanted to hear. They would protect the embassy as best as they could and fall back to the most secluded and the second most secure room in the whole embassy, the main lounge. The ambassador and her staff finished the hiding of the documents and destroyed whatever was non-essential, the smell of the burning paper still filling the embassy. Everyone would fall back to the lounge, designed to accomodate one hundred and fifty people, they were slightly more.

"Keep firing!" One man ordered as he and his men pushed backwards, the Claymores going off at the door. Those were the last two they had set. They had used up their SLATDWs and were only using their rifles and pistols, ammunition depleted in many cases. They abandoned the XM312s as they were too heavy to carry and the snipers who used the M36 went to their pistols.

"Form a block here!" The Captain ordered, pointing to the main hallway. "Keep engaging! Run out of bullets damnit!" They fired profusely for the next forty-five minutes, fighting every inch of hallway space until finally, at 1745, they were done for. Ammunition was exhausted, they were exhausted, and the crowd was just too massive. They had lost four guys so far, two military and two workers. Sixteen were wounded. What happened now would be a matter of chance. With three hours and fifteen minutes until the Layartebian forces arrived and with just about twelve until they could launch a serious rescue attempt, they begged for the mercy of God, the God they believed in, not the ones portrayed on television.

OOC: What say we have a little thing with the leader and such in the embassy. By the way, remember how I said I would lose 6? If you wish to make the other 2 through executions go right ahead. If you want to take out mroe then it should be alright.

The rioters were slightly puzzled now. They had taken over the embassy, the symbol of the great Satan. The pleasure of victory started to go away as they one by one realized that they had made themselves traitors to the Empire. There were only one thing waiting for traitors. They knew this very well, because it had been imprinted in their brains since childhood. They could only expect a trip to the gallows now. When, not if but when, they got caught. They didn't really have any leader either. But one man stepped up to take command. His name was George Quisling, and his name would live on forever in shame.

"You! Get up! GET UP!!" he screamed to one of the Layartebian workers. A young girl, probably not older then 19 with brown hair and nice looks. She hesitated, so Quisling shot her in the face, killing her in an instant. He looked at another-one of the Layartebians. One of the soldiers by the looks of his clothes. "You! Get up or you'll end up like her!" The Layartebian obeyed the command, upon which Quisling and two others dragged him outside and had him kneal infront of a camera team which filmed the whole thing. Quisling started to speak into the camera.

"We are the Brigade of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we are hereby declaring holy war on the Empire of Layarteb. As a sign of our dedication, we are hereby sentencing this man to death! May God have mercy on his soul, though I doubt He will!"

Quisling raised his stolen police-issue pistol and fired a single round into the scull of the Layartebian, blowing out his brains out on the people standing around him.

"If we do not get the resignation of the Emperors of Cotland and Layarteb within 12 hours, we will shoot more people. You are now warned."

The camera went black...

IC: "Bloodshed in Imperial Cotland"

COTLANDSTAND (RFP)- The Empire of Layarteb Embassy here is draped in blood after Layartebian and Cottish forces opened fire upon thousands of rioters protesting the release of Layartebian artifacts that point to the origins of humanity and everything surrounding it to an alien civilization that landed on Earth over 11,000 years ago.

The riots started sometime around 7AM this morning when the estimated 500 protesters suddenly turned into 50,000. Eventually, the protesters began clashing with the Layartebian forces present, even stealing some ammunition in the process. The rioters quickly overwhelmed the small Layartebian force present, forcing an emergency meeting by the shadowy Layartebian Emperor and Cottish Emperor Thomas Rothsky I. Cotland immediately went under martial law, and both sides immediately called in reinforcements which subdued the crowd. Deaths are estimated at anywhere between 100 to 5,000 dead, with tens of thousands detained and/or injured.

Roman Emperor Rodin Hartian, a close ally of the Cots, expressed his "gratitude" that the Cots were able to contain the crowd and stop the riot, but some Roman citizens have begun questioning Hartian's relationship with Rothsky. "How can a man be such a close ally of someone who kills their own people?" said Cornelius Fibelenus, head of the Roman Liberty Taskforce (RLT). "This tragedy was a disgrace, an affront to human rights and is everything that us Romans should abhor; and yet he turns a blind eye." Other groups have criticized Hartian for not sending in troops of his own, saying that he let his ally down in his time of need. Hartian counters by saying that the Cots made no official request for help and that the Romans believed the Cots had everything under control. He refused comment on the human rights issue.

The source of the conflict came days after the Layartebians released a document concerning an ancient American civilization called the Cerlonites, who claimed to be descendants of the Cerlons, an extraterrestrial civilization. The Layartebian professor claims that the document alludes to another document on a crashed spaceship that contains the Qu'ran, the Bible, the Torah, the DNA genetic code and other information about our current civilzation, as well as another document called "The Prophesy of Luna" that calls for the Cerlons to return to Earth to colonize it again. The Layartebians also claim to have found evidence suggesting that the Black Death was caused by radiation from a Cerlon fight on the Moon instead of bubonic plague as postulated before.

The document has been a source of controversy ever since it was released, with the Eirians contemplating an assault of their own on the "pagan" Layartebians as well as the Cottish riots. Roman History professors almost all unanimously denouce the documents as frauds, noting several inconsistencies with the report. They say Layarteb has yet to provide proof of the existence of the document containing the religious texts, and they question the legitimacy of the document based on the fact it contains the Bible. "The Bible was quite clearly written by hundreds of authors," said Ancient Near East History Professor Donatello Vivari, "many of whom display characteristics which can only be present by contemporaries of that era. Also, the multiude of writing styles calls the Layartebian facts further into question, as it is quite clear from that fact that one writer could not have written the Bible. Because of that, we find it preposterous that a supposedly advanced alien civilization could have written a document so textually inconsistent as the Bible."

Alex Sanchez checked his global positioning satellite receiver, perfect he thought to himself. His team had managed to make it undetected across Tanuio Mexico; doing so is not an easy task. This is especially true when you are carrying land mines, rifles and various other tools of death. Sanchez took a small step forward and scanned his left and right side with his rifle. No one, other than his three accomplices, was around. He began increasing his pace through the dense jungle sweat beading down his face as he did so. Sanchez was an ex-marine demolitions and sabotage expert. It was for this reason that he was given the C-4, sub-machine guns, and grenades. All the equipment was put into there knap sacks, which weighted an astounding forty pounds. The four men only carried their sub-machine guns at hand; this would be limited protection if they ever came across Tanian or Layartebian soldiers. Sanchez checked his GPS receiver again. He motioned his men to come together. Kneeling on one knee Sanchez waits for everyone to be in formation. Once everyone was he began to speak.

“We are roughly a mile away from the borders of Layarteb Yucatan. Keep a vigilant eye at all times, if you suspect anything let me know. Try not to make as much noise either. Now, once we cross the border we have to find a crap car and steal it. This would be less suspicious. Understood?”

The three other men nodded.

“Good, now let’s continue on.”-

Juan Costa checked his surroundings. He was not in area he was familiar with now, must be near the border he thought to himself. His teams voyage across Tanuio Mexico did not go 100%. Secret Police forces confiscated one of the team’s AK-47 rifles. The best shot of the team was then forced to carry the M40-A1 sniper rifle; Costa was the unlucky one to receive the rifle. He now walked through the hot, humid jungle lugging around a heavy sniper rifle, and carrying his forty-five pound knap sack. The team’s RPG specialist carried his RPG slung over his back, while the others carried three rounds of ammunition for him. This would be more than enough to accomplish what they wanted to do thought Costa. His team continued to walk through the jungle at a slow pace; they would need their energy once they cross the border anyway. Juan Costa was an ex-Zapatista fighter. He alone accounted for over 120 Tanians deaths, and destroyed six IFVs. His team all together nearly annihilated a Tanian Camp of six hundred and destroyed various pieces of armoured vehicles. The RPG specialist was Carlos Nunez, a member of Costa’s old Zapatista attack team. He was one of the best RPG shots in Mexico and would prove vital in their mission. Costa had taken point now; suddenly he froze and checked his GPS receiver. He took one knee and motioned his men to come forward. Costa pointed through the dense jungle.

“If we continue to walk that way we would reach the border in less than thirty minutes. Once we get there follow as we were briefed. We take a bus and choose our targets carefully. Make sure no one sees what is in our backpacks. Understand?”

The men nodded; sweat had drenched their clothing now. The hot, and humid jungle was zapping them of their strength. Costa spoke again.

“Good. Now let’s get going, remember to minimize sound we make…Let’s go.”

Edgardo Fernandez took a long drink. The heat was almost too intense for him to bear. Out of all the locations his commanders could of picked he had to go through the hottest and most dangerous part of the jungle border. He cursed his luck as he took every step forward. They were definitely close to the border, he thought to himself. He reached into his pocket and took out the GPS receiver. Yeah, he was right. They were only a mile of so away from the border. This was good he thought, soon they would be lying in an air-conditioned apartment planning out the will of their lord. His team carried the anti-aircraft rockets, the heavy RPG-22’s, rifles, and grenades. Fernandez was Black Hand operative with no background what so ever. His files were erased by his organization at the age of ten when he killed a Colonel in the military with a small .243 hunting rifle. Ever since then he has become a major assassination tool for the Black Hand. He had a major part in the two days terror strikes, which killed around 200 Council of Order members and over 700 civilians. He prided himself to know that the most highly trained Tanian military personnel hunted him. But of course it was extremely difficult to hunt a man if you have no name, no picture, not even a date of birth. He was as mysterious as a ghost one could say. Fernandez found a small clearing where no trees of vines were present. He silently called his men over to this location. Once everyone was settled in he spoke.

”We are nearing the border, prepare yourselves for any action we might get. Remember to only fire if you are fired upon. If we are engaged kill the soldiers that engaged us and abort mission. If anyone one of us dies, find a suitable hiding location and leave the body there. It’s that simple. Once we cross the border, found transportation and are in a secure planning area we will discuss the specifics of our attack. In the mean time just think about making it across the border, we’ll have plently more to worry later on. Questions? No? Good. Let’s continue on.”

OOC:Layarteb if you plan on engaging any of my teams, please do so in the next post, because in my next post they'll be across the border.

The Emperor saw the broadcast, rage filling his veins. His whole nation saw the broadcast and he looked to his advisor. "If we do not slaughter every terrorist in there they'll call for our BLOOD." He looked away. "The decision I am about to make is one that I know I will regret in my later life. It is something I must do and it will weigh heavily upon the conscience of me and those who I sentence to do it. Their death will be one of liberation from the nightmares that they will see. I want this order to go out immediately. Upon the encirclement of the embassy I want every Cottish terrorist inside killed. Use whatever is necessary and show the people, show everyone!" He slammed his fist on the table. "Execute every single one of them lest WE look weak. Understood?"

His advisor looked into the cold, lifeless eyes of the Emperor. He hesitated. "Yes...Yes sir." He left and put the order to the Generals. It would only be a matter of time.

OOC: RomeW that's about right. The fight wasn't on the moon but then again we don't know exactly where it is so that is a good point that throws in a bit of mystique. I like...

Around the same time as the Emperor was making his decision to annihilate the Cottish terrorists, another press release came out, this one from the Roman Empire. The RFP reported on the inicident. "What the hell. The whole world knows now!" The Emperor shouted. "Free press. Goddamnit!" He looked around at his empty office. "I have to release the documents. I have to."

The Emperor called in his secretary. "Jessica. How are you this evening?"

"Alright sir, and yourself?"

"Been better. Could you draft this for a press release?"

"Sure, let me grab my pad."

"Alright." She left and jetted back quickly. She nodded that she was ready. "The Empire of Layarteb, in light of cricitism and skepticism on the Yucatán documents is hereby releasing them for private viewing. Scientists and leaders of nations are invited to Layarteb City to view the documents and work with Layartebian scientists still working on them."

"That all sir?"

"Yes. For now. Thanks."

"No problem." She left and dispatched the press release immediately.

The fences are like those in Jurassic Park, if you saw the movie, but they don't allow for big enough holes for people to fit through. They go like 15 to 18 feet down and about 40 feet up. There are three layers of them, the tops of the fences being barbed wire. I do imagine though that you could sneak in some day through it.

Quisling walked back and forth in front of the hostages, talking to himself.

"Let's shoot them all!

No! We can't do that! They'll shoot us for murder!

We're already murderers and traitors to the government! It can't possibly be worse then it is!"

Quisling looked over at the ambassador, angry like hell.

"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!?"

"Nothing." Captain Marshall said. "So what now? You do realize that we have reinforcements on the way." If he could get them to leave he would be happy but he doubted that would happen. Security cameras tagged most of the people, that was for sure, and he knew that this man was on the camera. He wouldn't get too far. Still he wanted no more others to die, six had died already, too many. "What is it that you are fighting for? Is it those documents?" He smirked. "You think those are true? You think my government believes in that? The Emperor is agnostic. Hell I'm shocked he released them, those documents FORCE him to make a choice on religion. He'd never do that!"

We are just some Christian souls who seriously dislike getting our religion threathened by... by... by YOU!!" Quisling said. He hadn't taken his pills today, so he was a bit agressive.

He had once been a patient in a mental hospital in Kirov, but released after he started on some new medication. The Catholic Church had also helped a great deal, so he had vowed to protect it forever. Now he was doing it, just in the wrong way. He had neglected to discover that the Church and Christianity stood for peace and love, not war and hate.

"Why do you want to spread these lies? What wrong have we done to you to deserve this? You KILLED many thousands just a few hours ago! WHY?!" he yelled at the Layartebian while pointing his pistol on him, finger on the trigger.

"You are SATAN!" he repeated, getting the rest of the traitors to chant along with him. "You are Satan. You are Satan."

"Why are you here, Satan?" Quisling asked the bleeding man.

It was 2108 when the first Layartebian transport touched down. It was a C-17A Globemaster III carrying medical supplies and ammunition. But the most important cargo were the Special Forces aboard. It was a team of twelve Delta Force soldiers and fifty-two Rangers, all ready to fight. Behind them, C-17s and C-5s would be landing all night, the last one down at 0500 and the assault force ready to go at 0745. Until then, the sixty-four soldiers were tasked with reconnaissance. There were certainly too many bad guys to just storm the embassy, they needed to scope it out first.

They moved the way from the airbase to the embassy on foot. They were 11 km away and would be moving quickly, very quickly. Reports put some 15,000 people still at the embassy, most camped around the perimeter. If they got within eight hundred meters of the embassy that would be enough. They were armed with rifles, assault rifles, M30A3 Assault Rifles. For their sidearms they chose between the M33A1 and M33A2 Pistol. All of them carried gear though, a full pack worth, loaded with Claymores, equippment, explosives, and God knows what else.

As they moved throughout the city, the empty city, they kept vigilant. They would certainly be passing Cottish guards and they hoped the information was passed onto them. They had their Layartebian flags displayed on their left arms and they weren't going to stop to answer questions.

Inside the embassy, everyone was scared and they wondered if the Layartebians would be coming. The Captain was, so far, the only one brave enough to talk. "So just because my government releases a stance it means every citizen of that government supports it. What world do you live in? See this," he pulled out a chain. "What's that? It's a crucifix. I guess I worship the God my Emperor doesn't. I guess I believe what they don't!"

The attack helicopters, now including both AH-6J Little Birds and their bigger brother the AH-64D Apache Longbow gunship, kept up the killing in the streets. Now, they were using M134 Miniguns, 30mm autocannon and 2,75 inch rockets on the traitors, killing hundreds for every pass. At of 21.20, there were eight Little Birds and six Apache Longbows in the area around the Layartebian embassy, firing off bullets and rockets at the traitors.

Inside the embassy, Quisling was too f***** up on weed to detect them. But he did detect the crucifix that the Layartebian held out. "Where did you get that? Give it to me you satan! You are defiling the holy cross!" he said before he lunged out a hard kick in the Layartebian's right knee. The one he had busted a short while ago. "Why should I believe in anything the great Satan tells me to?"

IC: "You defile the name of God when you say it, you heretic! You are all heretics! DEATH TO LAYARTEB!!!" Quisling yelled out to the Layartebian lying on the floor infront of him, bleeding.

The traitors started on a new chant almost immediately: "Death to Layarteb!"

At the same time, six or so of the traitors dragged two of the younger Layartebians, some young girls in their twenties, away into another room. There could only be heard screaming and crying from the girls from the other room.

********

Meanwhile, the attack helicopters continued their endless quest to kill all traitors they could. So far, they had fired off more then 300 rockets, completely demolishing the street and the bodies littered around there. It was carnage on a scale that had never been seen before, and it went out to the world via a live TV feed from a TV team hiding inside a building.

Whether they were spotted or not, the Layartebian soldiers knew not. They were 750 meters away from the camps and the embassy. It was a mess. Helicopter gunships were strafing everyone outside. "Jesus. Sir, look at that!" One of the soldiers said to the man in charge, Major Helsing. "What are they doing?"

"Their job. Take up reconnaissance positions. Occupy this building and that one." The Major pointed across the street. "Make sure you aren't seen alright."

The group split into two, half into the one building and half into the other. They were both small structures, two and three floors high. Their occupancy was unknown nor did they have the time to find out.

It was 2300 when the main assault force began to land. They unloaded their APCs and IFVs quickly as they staged for the operation that was about to come. They were going to roll up to the embassy and count to five. At five they would open fire on whomever remained.

Inside the embassy, the Captain cringed and what was happening. "I defile the name of God. Your fellow men. You hear that? That's defilement. I assure you that I will kill them. They will die!" He looked into the terrorist's eyes. "I WILL KILL THEM. Do you understand? Satan..."

"Shut up!" Quisling said to the Layartebian before he knocked him in the head with the pistol, causing the Layartebian to lose consciousness. It was entering the last few hours of many of the traitors lives.

*****

Outside, the helicopters continued their attack on the embassy and traitors, shooting up the last of their ammo. It didn't matter though. There were more helicopters on their way, ladened with ammo. Even a C-130J with water, to wash away as much of the blood and bodyparts as possible for the Layartebian army units that were assembeling in the airbase.

At the air force base, the Layartebians were watched by one hundred soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 56th Infantry Regiment. They were going to escort the Layartebians into Cotlandstad in their Humvees. It was time for the collum to get on the road soon.

The pilots fired off the last rounds and broke the attack runs to return to their bases. It had been a good fight lasting 12 hours, with one helicopter lost in exchange for somewhere between 25 to 30 000 traitors. They left behind a street littered with bodies and bodyparts. Now it was up to the Layartebian ground force to take the initiative.

No I mean aside from a checkpoint there aren't any patrols. At a checkpoint there's usually an APC or IFV or both, some minor vehicles, and maybe a MBT or two. There is usually a platoon of 25 soldiers there.

It was 0730 when the armored column was assembled. There were 106 vehicles in total but only 53 would be going to the embassy, the other 53 guarding the aircraft at the airbase. Along with the 106 vehicles were 324 soldiers, an entire company, made up of 6 platoons, all from the 1st Airborne Force. They had seen combat before and now they were about to see combat as well, but on a much different scale.

They would be moving to the compound under Cottish escort. This would ensure that the citizens would not think it was an invasion. Once at the embassy, they would meet up with the 52 Special Forces soldiers whow ere staking out the embassy.

Moving at thirty-five miles per hour, the convoy would traverse through the streets on a direct route to the embassy. Nothing or nobody would get in there way.

Along with the convoy, flying 500 feet in the air were 6 AH-6J Littlebirds armed with a pair of M134 Miniguns loaded with 1,500 rounds each and a pair of Hydra rocket pods, loaded with 7 rockets each. Along with them were 6 UH-60L Black Hawks, each armed with a pair of M134 Miniguns loaded with 1,500 rounds each. Behind them were 4 AH-64D Apache Longbows, armed with 1,200 30MM rounds, 8 AGM-114 Hellfires, 2 Hydra pods with 19 rounds each, and 4 FIM-186B Wizard missiles for air to air.

The assault force was clear and visible, the Layartebian flag flying proudly amongst them. They were going to rescue their fellow breathren. It was not a time for anyone to be brave.

Inside the embassy, things were relatively quiet until the rumbling began. The Captain smiled. He turned to the leader, "Hear that?" He smiled again. "That's the sound of reinforcements." He looked deep into the man's eyes. "That's the sound of Satan..."

"Quick. Get all the weapons and ammo you can. We have to fight back!"

The traitors scurried back and forth, finding an M-16A2 here, a shotgun there, and the empty Layartebian anti-tank weapons. They did have the XM-312 heavy machine guns, but no ammo. The cursed Layartebians had used all the ammo. They only had a few rounds left for each weapon, and none of the traitors were particularly good shots. Still, they organized a rag-tag defense of the embassy, and the defiled girls from earlier on were pushed back to the rest of the hostages. They had not been treated nicely.

Two of the traitors stood in a window and looked down on the street while they talked.

"We have to try to stop them. What can we do?"

"Alright gentlemen, we're six blocks away." The convoy came to a halt. "I'm told it's carnage from the Cottish helicopters. The plan of assault. We're going to do a full surround, just like we planned." The convoy was under the command of Major Graves, a veteran from Kaliningrad. "We'll keep the helicopters on an orbit. Just remember guys, do not fire until I give the command. Any fire we take, use precision rounds, got it!" He meant for the snipers to act, if they had to. "Let's move out!" The convoy began moving again, the rumbling growing louder as it shook the embassy, drawing nearer, the carnage in sight.

There were a few people outside the embassy, mostly scattered. They were standing amongst thousands of dead bodies, about a thousand of them to be sure. They were covered in blood, many wounded. As the convoy approached from the east, and came into the view of the compound, the reality of the situation took hold. Many immediately scattered, trying to get away. Then there was a few clanks against the hull. "Sir we're taking fire." The Major wasn't paying attention. He was in the lead Dingo. "Sir, they're shooting at us!" The gunner cried out.

Calmly he responded back, "Well shoot back!" The Dingo gunner opened up with his M2HB machine gun, putting a few rounds into six men who were firing what appeared to be revolvers. They went down fast and that was the signal. The loud banging sound of the M2HB was definitely heard in the embassy, allowing those inside to suddenly realize just what they were up against.

Driving over bodies, the 53 vehicles assembled around the convoy, shooting between 100 and 300 people, all of whom were outside, firing randomly at them. When the convoy stopped, the men disembarked, all taking up defensive positions as they surrounded the embassy. Then came the easiest part. Major Graves picked up the microphone, it connected to the loudspeaker on another vehicle. "This is the Layartebian military. Release all of our hostages and come out with your hands on your head, weapons dropped. I will not repeat this. You have until I count to 30!" He spoke Cottish, not very well, but he knew exactly what to say for this and he began counting...

Major Graves laughed. "Then you have made your choice!" He smirked and picked up the microphone. He had spoken to the Special Forces and knew exactly where the hostages were being held and that was in the rear of the building, the safest portion, or at least they thought. The Special Forces had been ordered to assemble near the wall, after those outside had fled and/or been killed. All 52 of them were ready to go, ready to unleash unholy hell. Along with them, storming from the rear was a full platoon of Airborne soldiers, 54 in all. Outside, the armored forces would signal the start of the assault.

"Ready your weapons men." With that, the gunners of the many vehicles looked into their sights and brought up a target. The terrorists had assembled in force in just about every window they could. Everyone picked a target, it would be all too easy. The first barrage would consist of about two hundred rounds, all directed at someone. Inside, the sixteen Black Ops knew what was coming. They were ready to act!

"Open fire!" Major Graves smirked as suddenly a barrage of bullets slammed into the embassy face, 30mm, 25mm, 7.62mm, 12.7mm, 15.5mm, 5.56mm, and God knows what else. It was enough to give anyone a bad day. It took only a few seconds but when it stopped there were four simultaneous explosions, all from breeching charges set by the Special Forces and Airborne platoon. They stormed next, all 106 of them, pushing into the compound, firing at anything that moved.

Quisling was standing inside the room, away from the windows when the shit his the fan. All two hundred traitors in the windows were dead from the first barrage, and there were yelling that the Satans were entering the building.

While the traitors didn't have much in the way of firearms, they did have many buckets of human waste, something which they threw on the Layartebians when they saw them. Some also fired their weapons, but were gunned down by the Layartebians quickly.

A total of seven hundred and fifty-seven traitors died within the first minute of the Layartebian attack.

"What the hell?" One of the soldiers asked as a bucket of feces was thrown near him. "Son of a..." He roared as he fired off a quick shot through someone's face. All 106 soldiers pounced the embassy fast, meeting little resistance, most being from a few terrorists with pistols.

The Black Ops had acted too. They all, inside of 8 seconds, managed to kill four men and subdue the six that previously harmed the women. They were definitely going to pay for their crimes!

The fighting lasted just under 12 minutes. The end result put two wounded Layartebians on stretchers and one dead, being unlucky and getting a shot through the head from a .357 Magnum police-issue revolver. They managed to capture his executioner and were detaining him.

When it was over there were only 45 terrorists remaining alive, many wounded, all being detained, and roughly at that. The six rapists were going to be taken to Layartebian custody, not even reported with the 45. Among those 45 was the leader, a man who was very, very, very afraid. He would be turned over to Cottish authorities, along with the other 44.

And so it was over, the embassy was secure, but the carnage was great. It would be weeks before the place was ever back to normal again...

Press release
Office of the Emperor of Cotland

"At 7.30 AM this morning, Cottish and Layartebian forces attacked and liberated the Embassy of the Empire of Layarteb, which has been occupied since yesterday afternoon. The operation went well, but sadly cost the lives of one Layartebian soldier. Two others were injured.

The joint forces captured fourty-five rioters, who will be put on trial for high treason against the Empire of Cotland. The trial will start later today.

A total of 27 800 rioters were killed in this riot, along with 500 police officers, 1200 Home Guardsmen and 200 regular soldiers. 11 000 were arrested for rioting and public disorder. 600 for drug crimes.

I wish to offer my deepest appologies to the people and the Emperor of Layarteb for not being able to stop this incident sooner then it did. I wish to attend the funerals of those Layartebians who died. May Almighty God bless their souls."

Cottish military units followed the Layartebians in and took posession of the fourty-five prisoners. Included amongst them were George Quisling, who were placed in heavy chains and thrown inside a M113A4 Gavin APC together with four soldiers who had lost relatives in this riot. They had orders to bring him to the courthouse alive. Nowhere in their orders had they been told that he had to be unharmed....

Meanwhile, a Cottish Lieutenant walked up to the Layartebian Major and saluted. After the Major returned the salute, the Lieutenant started to speak

"Major. As the senior Layartebian representative present, do you wish to attend the trial of the prisoner Quisling? He is to be trialed in one hour in the Courthouse. If so, would you please follow me sir. I have a humvee waiting."

Major Graves withdrew his salute. "Thank you for the offer. I'm afraid though that I've seen enough blood for the day. I trust your people will do what is right by them. That is enough for me. We're going back to the airfield and going home sir. I wish to thank you and your people for all their help." He walked off, afraid to look at the ground anymore.

And history will judge us by what we say, not what we have done. They will look into our eyes through our words and peer into our souls through our context. This is dark days for us. Dark days. The Emperor sat quietly to himself. He saw the Cottish press release and was weighing what he would say. It took a good twenty minutes but then he called in Jessica.

"Sir. A press release?"

"Yes. Please. Here I have written it down."

"Thank you sir. I'll clean it up."

"No. Leave it as such. This one is too paramount."

"Alright sir. You alright?"

"I'm not sure," he smiled, "but thanks for asking. Take the rest of the day off, if you want. I'll pay you for the hours you should have worked."

"Thank you sir. My husband will appreciate that."

"Give him my regards."

"Thank you sir." She left, a smile on her face. Her husband was a military man, serving in the Air Force. He flew an F-19A Ghostrider and this week he was on a seven day leave. He was definitely enjoying it.

Yesterday was a sad day in Layartebian history. Citizens of the Cottish empire seized our embassy in Cotlandstad. The ordeal is over now. Layartebian reinforcements, under the assistance and direction of the Cottish military has regained control of the embassy as of 1100 our time.

Unfortunately, it is with sad regard that I announce that seven of our brave soldiers died in the battle, two executed on live television. It was most gruesome for our citizens to see such brutality. These men will be honored with the greatest honor we can bestow as they are all Hero's of the Empire. It is because of their sacrifice that so many more lived.

The names of those who perished, both Cottish and Layartebian, will be etched into history and our textbooks for centuries to come. It is the imperative of the Empire to honor the fallen Cottish and brave Cottish soldiers who fought alongside ours, who helped defend our embassy. It is a shame it has had to come to this but unfortunately it is such and done.

Today is a dark day in history. We will hold no grudge to the Cottish Emperor and justice will be had. It is my deepest regret that something could not have been done sooner. For that I am to fault and to blame.

IC: As the prisoner Quisling, now solidly beaten up, were escorted into courtroom 9-A in Cotlandstad Courthouse, a massive modern building twenty floors high, by two police officers in clean uniforms, he was allowed to talk to his defense attourney for five minutes before the judge walked into the courtroom. There would be no jury.

As the procecution started on the opening arguments, the mood was set for the trial. It would be a very short one.

"May it please the court. Yesterday, this man, the prisoner Quisling, lead the attack on the embassy of the Empire of Layarteb. He personally executed atleast two Layartebian citizens, and were responsible for the sexual asasults on two Layartebian citizens. He is responsible for the deaths of seven Layartebian citizens, and more then two thousand Cottish citizens. This man," - The procecutor pointed at the prisoner - "This man is responsible for the high treason against the Emperor of Cotland. All these are crimes which are punishable by death, and death alone! On behalf of the relatives of those lost, I demand that the court finds this man guilty and give him the appropriate sentence! May it please the court."

The presentation of evidence (which included watching the execution of the Layartebians) and witness interviews lasted for three hours before the attourneys were finished with the presentation. Now the judge just had to decide the sentence. It lasted less then ten minutes.

"Prisoner George Quisling. By the power vested in me by the Empire of Cotland, and the laws of Cotland, I shall now give you your sentence.

On the two-thosand charges of murder in the first degree, I find you guilty as charged!

On the charges of public disturbance, I find you guilty as charged!

On the charges of sexual assault, I find you guilty as charged!

On the charges of torture, I find you guilty as charged!

On the charge of high treason, I find you guilty as charged!

Based on the horrific actions you have preformed, and the lack of remorse, I have no choice but to sentence you to death by public hanging from your neck untill you are dead, dead, dead! May God have mercy on your soul! Court adjourned!"

The guards quickly dragged the prisoner Quisling off to a small room where he would get a chance to talk with a priest and get the last rites before he was dragged off to a van that drove him to the execution site. It was near the river, which was red thanks to all the blood that had been washed out there by the clean-up crews. A gallow already stood there, ready for use, and the soldiers stood guard around it. Several hundred civilians stood there too. TV cameras followed the van as it slowly drove to the gallows.

As Quisling were dragged out of the van, the crowds started to yell and throw rotten fruit and vegetables on the traitor, not stopping untill he were on the scaffold with the noose around his neck. The judge were there too, and started to speak.

"George Quisling. You have been sentenced to die for your crimes against the Empires of Cotland and Layarteb. On this your final hour, do you have anything to say before your punishment are completed?"

The traitor, scared shitless did not have anything to say.

"Very well. You have been judged by the laws of Cotland, and your punishment are hereby to be completed. May God have mercy on your soul, for you shall recieve none here!"

And with those words, the traitor George Quisling were hanged by his neck untill he was dead, dead, dead! It lasted nine minutes, but in the end, justice were served. There would be more executions in the following days.

The Emperor was made aware of the execution in Cotland. Within the next few hours, the Layartebian ground force would arrive back in Layarteb along with the people. A small platoon of Airborne soldiers was left at the embassy with a few Bushmasters and Dingos to protect them if need be. They would remain there until the embassy were repopulated by Layartebians.

Operative Sanchez nearly walked right into the Layartebian fence. The fence was literally right in the middle of the jungle. Sanchez looked at the structure of the fence and determined it was electrified. He called foward one of his men.

"Listen closely. These three fences seperate Tanuio Mexico and Layarteb Yucatan. Now if these are normal electric fenses their should be a series of metal rods in the ground that constantly relay electricity throughout the fence. If we can disable those then all we have to do is tear down the wires. The rods are usually a few feet apart so start looking. Be careful because the metal rods are still electrified as well."

The man nodded and told the others what to do. Of course a series of metal rods were found spanning roughly five feet apart. Now the only question was how to disable them. The group of men brought up various answers to this question.

"How about using some C-4?"
"What about cutting them?"
"What about shooting them?"

Sanchez thought for a moment.

"We could do all of them. The more simpler way would be to use a very small amount of C-4. It needs to be sufficient to destroy the metal rod, but has to not make sufficient noise to alert any nearby patrols."

"Patrols in the middle of the jungle?"

"Yes patrols in the middle of the jungle. I have no idea how the Layartebians maintain their border so we just have to assume that they have a nearby battalion size base. Now let's stop talking and go to work."

The men quickly went to work a very very small piece of C-4 was placed near the metal rod. Sanchez stuck a detonator in the C-4 and slowly walked back towards the men who were huddled behind a tree. He pressed a button and a small puff noise was heard. When he walked back to the rod it was shattered and destroyed.

"This is good. Contact the others through the cell phones about how to get past the fences."

One of the operatives nodded and quickly contacted both teams.

Some miles off from where Sanchez is another operative of team two began reaching for his phone which was buzzing in silent mode in his pocket. It was the only form of communication between each team, used only in emergencies. Operative Costa stopped the team and waited for the man to speak.
OOC: We'll just say both conversations were like this.
"Hello?"
"Miguel this is Roberto. How is everything?"
"Rather well. I'm on my way to the house now."
"Oh yes? How's the fence coming along?"
"Rather well, the dog has been digging holes through it though."
"I see, did you try sticking the posts 6 inches in to the ground make them sturdier?"
"No I haven't thanks for the advice."
"Sure thing. I must go now. Good bye."

Sanchezs' operative handed the phone back.

"I've given them both the message. Both are going to use the small amount of C-4 I directed them to use."

"Good. On to the next fence."

"Shouldn't we cover the evidence of our presence here sir?"

"No, at the most the Layartebians might think some illegal immigrants came in. Our main problem is ensuring no one catches us, now get moving."

"Sir, we have a relay interrupt." The border checkpoint was calm. Inside, soldiers monitored the electric fence from there to the next checkpoints. The system was set up to monitor the electric relays. If there was a relay interrupt, it would raise an alarm. It could mean either two things: electrical failure or sabotage. The standard operating proceedure was to send a small team to investigate. "Sir, it's at grid A-14."

"Good job." The commander picked up the radio and keyed in the microphone. "We've got a code 88 at grid A-14. Send team one."

"Roger that sir." It came back over the radio.

Within ten minutes, a pair of M2008A1 Dingo APVs armed with M31 15.5 x 115mm HMGs pulled up to the breech. There were eight people in each of the two Dingos, with a now total of sixteen, heavily armed border defense guards. Using spotlights on the Dingos and flashlights they came across the holes, still smoking from the explosion. "Sir, we've got a breech."

"What kind? Illegals?"

They investigated. "No. This is elaborate. Explosives were used. It's obvious. We could have a Special Forces group in our midst."

"Roger that." Of the sixteen soldiers, four were Black Ops, well and highly trained. They ahd been the ones to spot the explosive signs. It was easy for trained professionals. "Stand-by."

They returned to the Dingos and pulled out maps. "There's a village here." One of the Black Ops said as he pointed to a small village, Sabán, that wasn't far from the border, especially not far from where they had just breeched the fence. "Sir, we're in close proximity to Sabán. I suggest we investigate."

"Roger that. Get on the move. I'll bring in a pair of helicopters, if necessary."

"Roger that sir. We're on the move." As the Dingos moved out at high speed towards the village, some eighteen miles away, a pair of UH-95A Huey II helicopters lifted off from their tarmac position at the checkpoint. They were each armed with a pair of HMP-400 12.7mm gun pods and a pair of LAU-68 7-round HYDRA rocket pods.

Operative Juan Costa's four man team were now just outside the outskirts of a small native village. No guards were present in the area. Their voyage to Tzucaba would take some time, they would need shelter for the night. Juan motioned his team to cover him as he approached a house. He leaned his back against the outside wall and checked the first window he saw. No one. He looked around to make sure no one was around and he quietly enterred the house. After performing a brief search of the house he found no one. House is probably for sale he thought to himself. He walked to the window again and checked to make sure none of the locals were around, then using a mirror he signaled his team to go in one by one. They quickly performed this task and within ten minutes they were all inside the house. Once everyone had time to catch their breath Costa spoke.

"Ok everybody we made it across the border fine but we're not done. They'll probably find our break in eventually. So we have to be ready at all times. I'm going to booby trap the doors, windows, and kitchen with explosives. The only room you three are allowed in is the bedroom, there's a fan in there so it shouldn't be too bad. If for any reason you have to leave the room just use the deactivation remote, press the red button the green light turns off; bomb's deactivated. Press the green button, light turns green; bomb's activated. Not too hard. I'll be in the living room checking things out in the town's center. I'll contact you via radio if I see anything you should know about. Now let's get moving."

Costa waited until everyone was in the bedroom. Then he carefully set several fragmentation grenade, and canister boody traps across the house. Trip wires were made on the kitchen floor, if anyone stepped on them several canisters would go off in the kitchen filling the entire kitchen with BBs. Anyone that tried to get in that house would be goner.

OOC: Cotland, would the outside world know of Quisling's trial and execution?

IC:

Donatello Vivari had a long day. A History Professor at the University of Rome, Vivari stayed late at the University to finish some research into the Mayan pyramids. He intended to build one in Rome itself, if only to prove that the Mayans could indeed build them on their own.

After he got home, he kissed his wife, put some pizza in the microwave (as he had not had dinner yet) and turned on the TV. The first thing he saw as the Layartebian Emperor reading a new press release that stated that any professor was allowed to view the documents. Questioning the documents' validity himself, he decided that he should take a look for himself, especially considering he was quoted as saying the documents were false.

He then called the University at Layarteb City to arrange a meeting so that he could view the documents, arranging to arrive the next day. He knew the professors there, having worked with some of them before, so he did not expect a lot of problems. However, he wondered how he would react if indeed the documents were not fake- would he go into denial or would he accept them, if only after a long while. He paused briefly to think, then determined that he just had to see them. "Honey, I'm going to bed. I'm going to fly over to Layarteb City tommorow to do some research. Night."

With that, he marched up the stairs to get to bed: he had a long day ahead of him.

"Layartebian Emperor pins blame on Embassy attack on himself, Cottish rebel hanged after short trial"

COTLANDSTAD (RFP)- One day after one of the bloodiest Embassy battles in recent memory, the shadowy Layartebian Emperor released a statement to the press apologizing for what happened, saying that the situation was his fault.

"Unfortunately, it is with sad regard that I announce that seven of our brave soldiers died in the battle, two executed on live television. It was most gruesome for our citizens to see such brutality. These men will be honored with the greatest honor we can bestow as they are all Hero's of the Empire. It is because of their sacrifice that so many more lived," said the statement. It concludes with "today is a dark day in history...it is my deepest regret that something could not have been done sooner. For that I am to fault and to blame."

The statement was a rare show of regret by the often one-dimensional monarch, who refuses to reveal his name (according to Layartebian tradition) and almost always assumes a posture of bravado. Some analysts say that the statement is a sign of weakness, and could have devastating consequences for the Emperor.

"Well, he's taking responsibility for his actions, which is a plus," said University of Rome Political Science Professor Marcus Timellius, "however, the Layartebian Emperor has always tried to show that he is faultless, and now that he's seen with a fault that may cost him."

It may already be costly. Soon after the statement was released, hundreds of Romans gathered in front of the Layartebian Embassy in Rome and protested the insitutition of the Layartebian Empire, demanding that democracy be instituted in Layarteb. "The Layartebian Emperor has proven that he is incapable of governing. Thus, he cannot be allowed to stay in power. He must institute democracy and let his people pick their leader, because it's time they could vote the guy out of office," said activist Marcus Japhus, who led the protest. "Democracy must start now!"

Meanwhile, earlier here the leader of the Cottish rebels, George Quisling, was hanged after a rather speedy and possibly dubious trial. Quisling was carried into court obviously roughed up, and, once in court, was never given a chance to offer defence. The Cottish judge took barely ten minutes before deciding to hang the offender, with the execution taking place immediately after the trial.

The proceedings were enough to warrant more protests outside of the Cottish Embassy in Rome. Protestors denounced Quisling's trial as a "sham", with an almost unanimous and deafening shout labelling the Cots as "barbarians". One sign even read "Thomas Rothsky the Hun", an obvious reference to Atilla, while another sign read "Quisling: the true hero". Roman rapper and outspoken political critic The Truth even wrote a song about Quisling and performed it at the protest, calling it simply "Quisling's Song". It will be released as a benefit single with the proceeds going to Quisling's family.

Statement from the honorable Oscar Pendleton, Cottish Ambassador to Rome

"In several Roman medias, Cotland have been portrayed as a brutal and barbarian nation governed without laws. This is not true. The Empire of Cotland have plenty of laws. In fact, very strickt laws. George Quisling violated several of those laws when he committed acts of murder, terrorism, brutal rape, violation of civil order and high treason against the Emperor. For these crimes, he was stripped of all his earthly posessions and sentenced to death by hanging in accordance with Cottish law! The evidence against him was unchallengable, and will shortly be presented to the international world for public scrutiny. Furthermore, the Empire condemns any attempts to make a hero of Quisling, for he was a traitor, and as such he shall be remembered. There are no family of Quisling, as they were all killed in the highly illegal uprising. We further wish to ask the demonstrators outside the Cottish embassy in Rome to go home, for there are no need for them to remain there. Thank you."

As soon as the Cottish Ambassador finished his speech, the crowd began pelting him with eggs. The Roman Police Force- assigned to ensure the protest did not get too rowdy- intervened, pushing the protestors and arresting those who wielded the eggs. They would spend the night in a jail in Rome before being freed the next day.

After the brief incident, Roman Praetor Extraterritorialis Jomo Marea came over to the Cottish Embassy to discuss the situation with his counterpart Oscar Pendleton. After exchanging pleasantries, Marea and Pendleton sat down for coffee inside the Embassy's guest suite.

"I know you're mad that some protestors labelled your nation as barbaric," started Marea. "However, let me assure you that our government does not think so and neither does our media- the Roman Free Press just likes to cover every angle. I know that there is some resentment in Cotland to some of our people labelling your people as barbarians, but I repeat that is not the view of the Roman Government nor the view of the majority of Roman people. Don't let some protestors taint your view of us, because it's not accurate."

I accept that they have a difference of opinion, but that they have to show it by the means of violence? If it had been in Cotland, we would have made sure that they didn't do it again."

Pendleton was still infuriated by the attack from the demonstrators.

"I want to thank you, my dear friend, and the Roman government on behalf of the Emperor for supporting us in crushing this attempt to lunge Cotland into anarchy."

The ambassador took a sip of the coffee and smiled to Marea.

"I can tell you that the Cottish people know that the Romans are our close friends and allies. After all, let us not forget Marsala! You came to our aide then, and proved beyond doubt your friendship. I've been told, and this is completely off the record, that the Emperor will make a public adress later this evening where he reminds the Cottish people of the Roman friendship and backing in crushing the traitors. "Thank you. May our alliance last forever," said Marea, raising his cup of coffee and taking a drink.

"For the record, we don't condone violent behaviour at protests either," continued Marea. "However, we understand that not everyone in the Empire will hold the same view so we allow protests. We don't allow them to throw things and/or be violent, but first-time offenders of that get released the next day. It's only repeat offenders who get charged."

He smiled, then continued. "For the most part it works- we've rarely had any incidents ourselves. The media...well, they print some very bad things, but if we didn't let them talk, we'd be letting ourselves down. Criticism can hurt, but it can also make you a better person."

"Oscar, when will the message be broadcast?"

"His Highness will go on national TV at 9 PM Cottish time. That's about 8 PM here."

Pendleton sat down, still slightly infuriated by the demonstrators and their calling of names towards Cotland.

"Jomo, I want to make it clear. The media don't know even half of what they are talking about. They mostly just twist and turn on everything to fit with what the national image is. For example, Cotland is now characterized as a brutal and supressing nation when the truth is that Cotland isn't brutal towards anyone else then our enemies, both internal as well as external. We were one of the first nations in the Russian plain who opened free elections! The people itself elected to have an Empire instead of a Commonwealth. They elected His Highness to be the first Emperor in modern times. The people have more civil rights now then they had before we turned into an Empire. And all the media cares about is that we executed a man after he had been found guilty in a fair trial. We've presented the evidences against him for public scrutiny. What more must we do?"

"Well, we knew that- the media's in the business to sell a few papers, so of course they'll trump things up; and, hey, just like all societies, there's some of us who have this idealistic view of things and think that everyone should fit that mold, when they don't. At least us in government know that other cultures want and/or need to do things differently."

He paused, then continued. "Oscar, don't worry so much about it. Most Romans know that you're just as liberal as we are. We have our differences, but what two societies don't? I'm sure the Emperor's broadcast will clear a few things up."

The convoy sped towards Sabán at over fifty miles per hour, the back roads of the Yucatán being all but forgiving to shocks and tires. However, their vehicles were made to take the heat. As they arrived, they noticed something odd, there was little to no activity in the village period. "Alright men," the commander said, "let's fan out and check some of these houses. Two man teams, report anything unusual. Got it?"

"Yes sir." The men split up. The Black Ops agents went in one team of four, chosing to work together rather than split up like the remainder of the soldiers. All armed with M30A1 Assault Rifles and plenty of grenades, they fanned out and began going from house to house, knocking quietly on the doors to see if anyone was home. For the most part, the village seemed abandoned, probably evacuated during the war. With their night vision goggles on, they were at an advantage and they were definitely looking for whomever got across that border.

The Emperor looked at the rapsheet. Protests in Rome as well. What else is new. Goddamn liberal countries. He put down the sheet and buzzed his secretary. "Get our ambassador to Rome on the phone please."

It took a few minutes but finally he was through. "What is the situation there?"

"Not nearly as bad as in Cotland. They're protesting alright, shouting for democracy. I don't get it sir, why the hell do people in a foreign nation feel they have the right, nay the responsibility, to decide for our country?"

"Who knows. I don't get these wackos either. Keep me informed."

"Yes sir." He hung up the phone and sighed. If this turns into another Cotlandstad we're in deep trouble.

He immediately picked up the phone to contact the Roman Emperor himself. "Sir, yes this is the Emperor of Layarteb. I'd like a word with you concerning the safety of my embassy."

Cotland: Hang 'em High!

The Emperor was delighted at the news in Cotland, despite that in Rome. Fantastic! He immediately drafted a press release.

"We here at the Empire of Layarteb are pleased that our Cottish allies have put to death the orchestrator of the terrorist attack on our embassy. We wish to thank the Cottish Emperor and the people of Cotland for upholding law and morality in the face of evil."

He sent it out immediately. He wondered though, how would his nation react? After all, this was a crime against Layarteb and certainly they had a stake in the execution, no? What the people didn't know was that six terrorists, presumed dead, were sitting inside one of the many secret prison facilities, being experimented on, tortured, and made to suffer. They had raped several of the Layartebian women and they were NOT getting away with it.

Chapter Six
"Adversity"

The air was warmer than usual. A heat wave had descended upon Layarteb, highly unusual for this time of year, it being spring. Unfortunately, it brought out allergies much earlier than expected, putting some 1/2 of the entire population in tears with itchy tongues, scratchy throats, and runny noses. Nobody was happy. Crankiness envealoped a nation as the Federal Drug Administration worked to get two new drugs into over-the-counter use, both aimed and taking away the symptoms for at least twelve hours. It was definitely not easy.

However, in a humid and stale apartment, just north of Layarteb City, on the border, two men met. One of the men was Bishop McGullan, the head of the Council of the Priests and the Bishop of the Layartebian Roman Catholic Church. the other man was Steven Kyle, the head of the People for a Democratic Layarteb. This was the pro-democracy group that had been discussed at the secret meeting. The unholy alliance between the PDL and the clergy was certainly not going to be one that would be taken lightly. Everyday, more and more elites of the EOL began to support the PDL, calling for a new leader, albeit quietly. There were even rumors that several prominent military officers and generals were allying with the PDL, following the wake of the Cottish embassy disaster, as it were called. Steven Kyle was one of those half though, suffering from bad allergies, it made him incredibly cranky.

"So as you were saying. What is the chief plan?"

"The Council of Priests and I feel the necessity for a regime change. We are in unanimous approval of such an action but we are powerful amongst ourselves. We wish to form an alliance with the PDL. We will, in our ceremonies, indoctrinate the people for the cause of democracy. We will push them to join the PDL, to call for revolution. The big step is staging a massive protest in Layarteb City, in front of the Emperor's officer. Obviously, this is illegal but I am told that many military generals have ceased their support of the Emperor?"

"That might be true. A massive protest of such would be what, a sit-in perhaps? It would just clog up the streets. If we got a million people together they wouldn't be able to jail all of us. Certainly they would try. What guarantee do we have that you and your colleagues will assist us in the churches?"

"Unfortunately I can only give you my word now. However, take note that we have a vested interest in democracy. We would be free from taxation and free from this agnosticism and paganism that the Emperor so willingly spreads. A society without God is a helpless one."

"I agree. Whilst I may not be a practicing Catholic I do understand and agree. I will see what I can do. Tell your fellow colleagues that the PDL will act upon what we hear in the Churches. We will be in attendance. Understood?"

"Yes. May God Bless You. This work you do is that of a Holy Warrior."

"Well I'm not looking to die just yet so..." They shared a laugh at the Bishop returned to his quarters in the main rectory. He prayed to God to grant he and the PDL the strength to do just what they wanted to be done.

Vivari IC:

His plane touched down at Layarteb City airport at roughly 9AM local time, although for him it was 3PM. After settling in at his hotel, at 12PM the Layartebian liason arrived, driving him to the location of the documents.

Rodin Hartian IC:

"Hello. No need to worry about your embassy- our reports show that the demonstration started and ended peacefully, with no riots taking place. There was adequate security, so everything went well. No embassy breach. You can sleep well at night."

OOC: Can I ask, is your rebel's name a reference to Vidkun?
OOC: That's the bastard. I know that the word "quisling" is used all around the world, so I wanted there to be a cause why it should be used.

IC:

"Well, we knew that- the media's in the business to sell a few papers, so of course they'll trump things up; and, hey, just like all societies, there's some of us who have this idealistic view of things and think that everyone should fit that mold, when they don't. At least us in government know that other cultures want and/or need to do things differently."

He paused, then continued. "Oscar, don't worry so much about it. Most Romans know that you're just as liberal as we are. We have our differences, but what two societies don't? I'm sure the Emperor's broadcast will clear a few things up."

IC:
Rome

"Yes, I sure hope so. His Highness have been very gracious to the people, and this is how they reward him. Granted, it was just a small amount of the population, but they still are numerous. At least Cotlandstad is cleansed of traitors now." Oscar looked at the wristwatch. It was nearly 8 PM already.

"The broadcast will start in a few minutes. Do you wish to watch it here with us?"

Cotland: Hang 'em High!

The Emperor was delighted at the news in Cotland, despite that in Rome. Fantastic! He immediately drafted a press release."We here at the Empire of Layarteb are pleased that our Cottish allies have put to death the orchestrator of the terrorist attack on our embassy. Cotlandstad

Thomas recieved the message from the Layartebian Emperor, who was a personal friend of his. It was a clear message. They had the backing of the EOL in whatever they did. Also noted was the message that the purchase of Arkhangelsk were in order. The first troops there would be in Archangel in 36 hours. Yet another piece of the old fatherland was back in Cottish hands. It was good news. Good enough to take some of the worries away from the incident in Rome. The Romans had given their backing to Cotland, but some of the Roman citizens didn't agree. Then an aide came into the room with the message that it was time to start the public adress.

National TV adress, sent to the rest of the world via satellite

A voice told the viewers the following before the Emperor appeared, sitting behind his desk in his black uniform with Field Marshall's distinctions.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, His Highness Emperor Thomas I of Cotland"

Then the Emperor came on the screen.

"My fellow Cots. As you all know, a day ago several thousand traitors headed to the streets to protest against the message that our Layartebian allies announced. That we may not be alone in the universe. This was not recieved well in the rest of the world, and where we expected maybe five hundred protestors, fifty thousand showed up.

The small police detachment there was overmanned and killed, and the protestors turned violent and headed for the Layartebian embassy. The head of the police detachment at the embassy called in reinforcements, and when the rioters were there, more then six hundred police officers and four hundred soldiers from the Home Guard were present. Attack helicopters were also there and provided cover. The rest is history. Almost all the soldiers and police died, as well as several Layartebians. It is estimated that the damages made will cost more then three hundred million Coins to repair.

I must be allowed to express my appologies on behalf of the Cottish people to the Empire of Layarteb. This is an act that will be punished to the full extent of Cottish law, and the names of those who preformed these ungodly acts will forever be accosiated with terrorists and traitors. Their names shall live on to serve as a reminder as to what happens to people who break the laws of Cotland. May God cast them down to the deepest of hells.

Since this action, I have hereby decided, in agreement with the elected council, to pass a new law banning unauthorized demonstrations. I have done this in order to prevent another riot such as the one we saw yesterday. Most of the traitors involved have already been sentenced to punishment, and sent to appropriate facilities where they will be held for the duration of their sentence. I have also authorized the local and Federal Police forces looser rims in maintaining the law. They are hereby authorized to detain anyone who is considered a threath to the internal security of the Empire for a duration of up to seventy-two hours before they are oblidged by law to bring in legal assistance for the person detained instead of the former fourty-eight.

Hopefully you will all note that this only applies to people who break the laws of the Empire, and not to the ordinary law-abiding citizen. This is for your own personal security. We will not let the terrorists prevail!

It has also come to my attention that several Roman citizens are not happy about the way that Cotland have handled this situation. Let me assure you now. We have the complete backing of the Roman government in this matter, and that is what matters. You might have heard reports of an attack on the Cottish embassy in Rome. There were no such thing, just a few eggs thrown, and those who did it was arrested immediately by Roman security forces. The Romans are, and have always been, some of our closest allies. When someone asks why we are allied to Rome, I say 'Look to Marsala'. Do not forget that the Romans sent large numbers of troops, and that several of those died side by side with Cottish troops. The Romans are our brothers in arms, and we shall never fail to come to their aide, just as they will never fail to come to ours.

Enough about that. I want to ask you all to join me in a prayer for those brave police officers and soldiers who died in the riots.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayer. Grant to those brave souls who perished at the hands of the terrorists eternal peace and rest. Grant them access to heaven, and forgive them their sins. Grant us the strenght to hunt down those who comitted these terrible acts of cowardice, and never let them rest. For thee are the ruler of all on this Earth. Man as well as beast. May thy name remain holy. Amen.

I thank you all for your attention this evening. I ask one more thing of you. Let your hopes and prayers go to the families of those lost in this attack. Good night, and may God be with you."

The screen showed the crest of Cotland, and then it returned to the normal schedule.

RomeW, you'll be reading the documents themselves, this way there's no reason for claim of misinformation and such. Basically write what you want to see but please just keep it with the basic persona of them and the whole storyline I had going before. I'm never going to admit they are 100% true only that we found them and they tell what they tell. Obviously, what they tell cannot be fully proven, albeit the black oil I found in Antarctica I'll never admit to having seen, captured, or encountered.

Cotland: OOC: I figured as such.

IC: Pride immediately shot up inside Marea. "What a great man that Emperor is, isn't he?" He now wore an ear-to-ear grin that was probably longer than the Great Wall of China.

"You know, Oscar, our nations have our differences, but no matter what we stick by each other. I feared that the incident may strain our relations, but it appears to only strengthen them."

Layarteb: OOC: Okay, so I'll confirm what you saw. Also, have the documents been published yet? If not, I'd like my professor to do so or at least record them so that there is no more worries about "misinformation".

IC:

Vivari looked with wide eyes when he saw the documents. There before him lay everything that the Layartebian Emperor said would be there- the complete texts of the Bible, the Torah, the Qu'ran, the DNA code, even the Hindu and Buddhist symbols. Literally every religion in the world could be found on this document- he even found some statements made about Jupiter, the old chief god of the ancient Roman Empire.

He then read the Prophecy of Luna and became scared. "We're all going to die. The Cerlons will come back and destroy us all." He then just stood there, staring blankly at the documents and contemplating. What he just saw was revolutionary- he just didn't know how revolutionary.

Hand signals were all they were using. As the forces checked the town they saw, more or less, that it hadn't been touched in ages. They could see out to about five hundred meters with their night vision goggles. It was a good night, very good night for visuals. For the most part, night vision goggles only go out to about two hundred meters max, they had special ones.

As the four Black Ops approached a house, they noticed something odd. The door frame was shattered. The leader put two fingers to his eyes and pointed to the door. Then he made the signal of the door and told everyone to get down. He crept up to the door real slow and lifted his M30A3 Assault Rifle just a little bit over the window frame, next to the door. On the rifle was a small camera, good for as far as standard night vision goggles. The camera was attached to his goggles and he could easily see into the window.

"Be ignorant all you want, and face the consequences."

As soon as he said that Vivari started to leave, infuriated. "The Layartebians are fools", he thought to himself. "However, if war is what they want, then war is what they shall get."

Upon arriving at his hotel room, he plugged in his laptop and began to type. Having an extraordinary memory, he was able to write out all the documents, though not completely due to fact that he had to recall everything himself. He spent almost the whole night typing and refused to answer the phone or go to the bathroom. "This was more important," he thought. When he was finished, he saved it and E-Mailed it to himself, so that when he got home he could start the process of publishing his findings.

His opening lines underlined his experience. "Today, I came face to face with God. What I have learned is that everything the Bible, the Qu'ran, etc. has said about Him is true- He indeed is not of this planet, but takes an active role in defining this one. In fact, I now know where He comes from, and who exactly His servants are. They are called the Cerlons, and what I am about to tell you will not only shock you but enlighten you. For everything you have been told is right."

The Black Ops soldier saw the figure and kept scanning. Then he withdrew his rifle barrel and nodded to the other three that he had found someone. "Alright, nothing here." He said as they moved away and moved to set up reconnaissance positions. They situated themselves within a hundred meters, all clear line of sight, to the four walls of the structure, hid, and would wait.

"I understand. Let's hope that they do that then, so we can get them away from here. How long do you throw them in prison? What is your maximum punishment? I seem to have forgotten. Too much coffee, I think..."

"Second-time offenders get a 50C (OOC: $500 US) fine and 2,000 hours of community service giving speeches about why violence does not pay.

Third-time offenders get six months in jail. Fourth-time offenders three years, fifth-time ten. The maximum is twenty-five for six-time offenders.

Oh, and yes, the coffee's pretty strong. You really love that stuff don't you?"

Layarteb: Gotcha.

"Oh, I can't wake up in the morning without coffee. But why do you let them off the hook so easily? In Cotland they would have gotten at first a hefty fine and notice in their criminal record. Second time a sentence of hard labour of up to ten years, third time they would probably recieve hard labour for life. Simple really. And effective."

"Heh...you should try the new Energia drink...that keeps me up for days.

Anyway, we try not to stifle protest, and we recognize that people do sometimes lose control and get angry- so we're willing to let them off at first. Repeat offenders, however, we see as people who deliberatly start violence, so eventually we don't let them off at all."

"Well, as you heard, the people are allowed to demonstrate. Now after this incident they just have to apply for permission first. And we don't have many criminals in Cotland. In fact, we have very low crime rates. Some of the lowest in our part of the world. The punishments we have are harsh, but they are also preventive. They keep the citizens from breaking the laws, because they know that there are very hard punishments if they do. They also know that the police aren't afraid to find the criminals. And if the police can't handle with the criminals, they call in the army. And you don't want to face the Cottish army unless you have some very solid backing."

"We have a low crime rate as well- we focus on social development, as one of our greatest Emperors, Keylusus II (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Keylusus_II), noted that the cause to all crime- and dissent- is poverty. So if we strike at poverty, we strike at crime. We've always had the belief that if we work hard to keep our citizens happy, then we don't get revolts and thus don't need strict punishments. We also don't like seeing ourselves as heavy-handed, as we don't see that in regards to our citizens to be very honourable, but that's just the Roman view of things.

Hey RomeW. I checked out your NSWiki thing and saw Venezuela, Suriname, and Guyana under your economy thing? I'm confused as I own all of those, unless that's just NS in general.

It's just NS in general. I decided to make my Earth II holdings a "Protectorate" so I don't have to worry about "losing my country". My NS territory is more or less what lands I really want for Rome. I hope that clears everything up.

Costa gave out a sigh of relief. He heard the Layartebian soldiers walk away silently into the dark night. He decided to wait the morning before scanning the area once again.

Operative Alex Sanchezs' team was having a successful voyage across Layartebian held Mexico. The team thought themselves as invincible, for if God was on their side then no one could kill them or their mission. The truck was packed with explosives in hidden compartments and their rifles were on their laps. Rolando Tersanco was the driver of the team. Tersanco continued increasing his speed on the old mexican road, exceeding the speed limit by nearly 20 mph. Sanchez noticed the speed reading on the speedometer and spoke.

"Tersanco, take it easy. The last thing we want is to hit a cow, or a ditch in this hell hole."

"I know what I am doing Sanchez. This isn't my first mission. My intelligence has reported no police or military activity around these parts. I want to make up for lost time."

"Fine, do what you want. But when the police stops us you'll take him. But when we are in the mission don't give me this attitude again or I'll put a bullet in your head."

The man grunted in reply.

Egardo Fernandez was in a bit of trouble. His team had been carrying their equipment for several days now, with no sign of a nearby vehicle to steal. According to Fernandezs' map a small town of around 500 inhabitants was only ten miles away. The four men continued on through the grass covered dirt road. Their explosives and rifles were in their backpacks but each men had their .40 pistols in their pockets if they were stopped.

OOC: What town are they approaching?

The Black Ops team smiled. They had the border crossers exactly where they wanted them. The house was beat up, most of the windows being shattered away. "Alright men. We're going to wait here for an hour. Then we're moving to the windows, four M84s. Then we're going to assault. I want them alive so aim for legs and shoulders. Understood?" They all whispered they did into their microphones. It was still early, the sun wouldn't be up for a few hours and they would have to act accordingly.

As the time neared, they moved towards the windows again, silently. All four of them had an M84 Flashbang grenade ready and they were all holding their M30A3 Assault rifles on single-fire position. As they counted down over their microphones in a barely audible whisper, their heart rates remained the same. They learned to maintain a normal heartbeat even in the midst of a firefight, let alone a strategically advantageous assault. "Toss." They did and the four grenades entered into three different rooms, two into the main room. Their three second fuses meant that the second they touched the floor, they went off. First there was a blinding white flash followed by a loud sound that would work to blind and deafen those inside.
