OOC: Byzantinia/Rommelwood left and gave the nation to me, hence creating this situation. Oh and, I suck at numbers, so I RP without using them, but am still consistent or try to be.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Byzantinian Empire had been weakened and unstable for a very long time, it's economy totally collapsed and delayed comparing to the European Powers, and people suffered repression from the state in all directions and shapes. There often were riots and yearly rebellion attempts each with bloodier consequences than the last...

The Emperor of Byzantinia was a close friend to Kaiser Martens, and so when he decided to abdicate he thought he might just leave their people in good hands...and signed the Treaty of Byzantinia, in which he passed the Empire over to the Martens Kaiserreich as a Protectorate, or as the document stated, Protektorat. He then left for Schleswig-Holstein at Kaiser Martens and was given a nice place to live his retirement, for he was already pretty old, him and his family would enjoy a peaceful life. This was conducted at first in the greatest secret to avoid trouble in the decadent Empire of Byzantinia.

The Kaiser Martens Reichswehr had only been waiting for the signal. The Panzerdivisions stood ready in the border of the empire and as soon as they got the confirmation from their Kaiser they sped forth using Blitzkrieg Guderian style tactics, followed by infantry to garrison some areas and The SS Leibstandarte Kaiser Martens to pacify strongpoints of resistance. The huge forces display was ment to deterr any militia or partisan style of possible foes from even attempting to do anything, and it worked in most of the cases. The Byzantinian army itself also helped the task from the other side of the Empire, although some of the most conflictive areas were not "touched" for it'd have to involve total anihilation of some minor cities.

In only four days the situation was under control and only minor incidents had been seen excepting when part of the Byzantinian army rebelled and the Reichswehr had to eliminate it, with their superior weaponry, showing off the new Maus III Überpanzer's awesome strength.

Most of the places actually greeted the Martens troops happily, for they brought them food, which they previously did not have for the economy as mentioned was extremely "messed up" to say the least.

Once everything was quiet Martens entered the Royal Palace while the Reichswehr kept working now busily to distribute food, install bases, and give technology to the people, the SSLSKM fixing some roads and destroying the last small group of rebels, some 400 people in outdated tanks.

Kaiser Martens then gave a speech in which he announced he'd take Byzantinia into the modern era, and the most surprisingly he gave independence to 36% of the territories to the east which were the most rebelled ones, and was going to give independence to 16% more but that province chose to remain with him for they saw his intentions were better.

His second action was to give back people's freedom, for a large number of things, some of them ridiculous, had been outlawed, and finally he fired about half the corrupt government and put Martens Officers in charge of every important institution, excepting the natives' religious organizations which were also now taxed.

For the first year Martens announced a large amount of social werfare and investments in the area of transports, education, and health, and in the next 4 years more funds would be diverted over to Defense and Law-Order. Also, giving people civil rights would be a priority. The only downside was that German and not their native language would be taught at schools.

For the first year part of the Reichswehr would occupy and fortify the area in order to help the people and once it was done, help the outdated Byzantinian army by giving them the old generation of Reichswehr weaponry which had been replaced recently in the Reich Reform. Also, just in case someone in the international community may complained, they continued to be alert....

Soon people were seen saluting, "HEIL MARTENS!" as the German Nationalhymn sounded and the KM flag stood proudly above the palace.

"I shall turn Byzantinia into a great nation once again!" Then the Kaiser retired, and the people continued to salute, while holding a box of goods and foods in the other, the emergency packs that were distributed to prevent the starving that had been going on.
