Somewhere above Venus, 1:00:00 from launch
----------------------------------------
Captian Ishii Koorapati watched the display screens from the command room of Space Station 3R05, more often reffered to as Eros, orbiting around Venus. He called to another crewman, CMSgt Vincent DiMatteo;
"Do we have confirmation from Terra?"
"They haven't said to stop, Captian, I think they're starting a press release soon"
"I imagine quite a few people will throw a fit when they find out what we're doing"
"Aye, Captain" DiMatteo responded with a chuckle.
A few minutes later
Press Secretary Halib al-Mashid walked onstage, behind a giant Elephanti flag. There were no reporters, just a camera crew sending the tape to national and foriegn news agencies. He felt more nervous then he ever had, even during the bombing of Bahrain. He began his speech, short and to the point.
Hello citizens,
Today the Elephanti Space Program, the Elephanti military, and the Elephanti people as a whole have made a great scientific accomplishment. The Space Station 3R05, or Eros, is about to conduct the first ever interplanetary nuclear test. A 100 Megaton warhead, inside special casings, will be launched at the planet Venus, enabling us to study nuclear detonations in an enviorment where humans will not be at risk. The launch will begin when the time below reaches zero.
<Timer on podium torns on, showing 00:55:34 and decreasing>
Venus has no life, has never had any life, and will never have any life, sentient or otherwise. Human colonization would never be possible unless enviormental factors were to change, which is not going to happen. This makes it a perfect place to test nuclear devices. We would like to someday test large amounts of detonations, to study the effects of a nuclear holocaust, and to see if we could one day terraform the planet for colonization.
Results from the study, being measured by the station itself as well as the Royal Observatory in India, will be published after evaluation.
