This world is pretty scary, isn’t it? There are hundreds of billions of people, tens of thousands of countries, hundreds of different ethnicities. Every day, there are dozens of new wars, hundreds of rebellions, handfuls of regime change, dozens of surgical strikes, at least one government ordained genocide, and who knows how many economic blockades. Wouldn’t it be nice to get away from it all?
Now you can! Come to Alexia, Jewel of the third world!
(An advertisement in democratic first world countries, over radio and television and on the World Wide Web in all countries)
The Alexian Empire, a nation of some odd billion.
Founded several years ago, reuniting an empire that existed a hundred odd years ago.
Ruled by self appointed “Peoples Monarch” Alexander Thompson the I, who lives in his palace up in Alex City (formerly Central City)
Being “The Peoples Monarch Chosen By The People” the emperor rules unimpeded, free to “serve his people without question or interference by opportunists.”
You get the jist of it.
The Alexian Empire is a wonderful tourist destination. It has everything you could want. Let me run down the tourists hot spots for you.
Alex City: The Capital and the emperor’s hometown, Alex city was founded hundreds of years ago by some wandering tribe or another.
Before the Re-unification, it was the capital of the Greater Nationian Republic.
After the re-unification, it was made capital of the whole people’s empire, and renamed Alex City.
It has recently experienced rapid growth, and has an approximate population of forty million inhabitants.
It is mostly a maze of sprawling tenements, highrises and overcrowded bungalows, intervened by grand markets. The streets share vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and you can expect to go on average 50km/h.
The average day:
The Tourist neighbhourhoods are a very nice place, with something for everyone. It is full of nice and clean apartements that house good honest workers.
There is a grand range of hotels, from the most expensive and fancy to the conveniently priced econo-suits.
A notable hotel is The Royal House, a hotel that is owned in part by the government, but built and run by the multi millionaire Fudail Stonechild.
This is considered to be the best privately owned hotel in the country.
The Royal House is also home to Café Royal, the most beautiful teahouse in the world.
The tourist district is filled with lovely shops and tea houses. The streets are very clean.
There are dozens museums, keep in pristine order and with the greatest accuracy by the government.
The glorious meuseum of history charters the Alexian empire all the way back till the dawn of time, through the emperialist revolution and the re-unification of the republics until this very day.
There is a swinging nightlife in the tourist district aswell. After dark, the bars and nighclubs open there doors. From the finest drinking establishments to the slumiest bars and strip walkways, the tourists district has got it all. Cabarets, raver clubs, Cheers, it’s all there.
Things to See:
The Casino:
In the east end of the tourist district is the Casino RiceTown, a massive structure of glass and concrete with manicured lawns, valet parking, and the like. There is also a hotel built into the top floors. It is rumoured to be based on the Street King’s Casino, built in the north end of the south side.
On the ground, a long bar is open to the gamblers, spanning more than a hundred feet, with ample bartenders and every drink imaginable.
On the gambling floor, a maze of slot machines greets you upon entering.
On the second floor is the card games. Craps, poker, every possible card game you could imagine.
Also on this flour is the lottery, with various prises and good odds of at least winning a free ticket, of course, the Alexian casino game of choice, roulette.
The third floor is reserved for the casino staff. On to the fourth.
The fourth floor is truly a wonder. A second bar, much like the first, has a long bar. This floor, unlike the first and second, has a very high up roof. The north wall is entirely made up of thick glass panels. From this vantage point, you can see the racetrack. The finest horses and jockeys come hear to compete, and sometimes even the semi-finals of the national championships are held here.
All the horse races can be bet on at the betting parlor, also on the fourth floor.
There is also a beautifull restaurant, which serves a large variety of wonderfull dishes.
(And I will post more at some other time.)
(Please make an embassy, as we will not accept tourists from places were we don’t have formal relations.)
