Primogenitor Class Super Dreadnought[b]

The Primogenitor Class Super Dreadnought is the first domestically designed and produced warship of this size and type. While budget minded Royal Senators kept the effort to build a Hamptonian SD at bay, the recent elevation of former Fleet Admiral Lord Rosecrans to the Commander-Generalship of the Royal Armed Forces finally tipped the balance of power.

The Primogenitor is not a weapon of war, it is a weapon of terror. Current plans put class production at four units (Primogenitor, Hamptonshire Ascendant, Paterfamilias, Magnus Dux) with a possible expansion of three additional units. These ships will function as Combined Fleet Flagships, coordinating not only thousands of Hamptonian but also thousands of Allied vessels.

[b]UPDATE: Construction has finished on six additional units (Consanguinity, Promontory, Exuberant, Intransigent, Insidious, Copenhagen). Total class production stands at seven vessels.

These ships will serve to "show the flag". To that extent each ship comes with full conference and diplomatic facilities. It's not quite the Hilton, but diplomatic suites and conference rooms aboard ship are superior to any others found on the open waters today.

In addition to the formidible offensive and defensive weaponry found aboard the Primogenitor, great care has been made to outfit the entire class with the latest in computing, targeting, and electronics hardware/software. This class is the first to incorporate NALCAD Suite (NAtional Level Command And Defense). A NALCAD equipped ship is capable of coordinating and executing a major offensive war or an all out defensive operation.

The Magnus Dux, when commissioned, will become the flagship of HomeFleet (1st Fleet). Accordingly, this unit will have enhanced command and control, long range weaponry, and communication capabilities at the expense of main armament.
