SR Calls National Emergency

SR
31-03-2005, 09:56
The SR Public Safety division has called a public emergency today after scientifiic reports state that the SR solar system's sun is about to undergo the final stage of its life.

"It's an incredibly dangerous time for SR, especially considering our space fleet is old, outdaded, and unreliable."

The SR Government also finally revealed their Arkage program, a limited and expensive project to transport a small chunk of the SR populous to space. THe main problem with this plan is that to be effective, they must leave now. The experimental ion engines have only ever been tested on planetary conditions, and not in space. "The entire thing could blow up in our faces, if we're not careful."

The SR Military's Experimental Weapons R&D department have offered another suggestion with their nanometal technology, which features a limited self-repair ability of powered armour. Relatively cheap to produce, the armour might save some from the early effects of the nova, but admits the technology is far too limited to allow anyone, under any conditions, to survive the end of the star's life, "but might allow for newer rocket technologies to save more lives."

SR currently orbits a hot star, out on the extremeties of the orbit. It is unlikely that the planet will remain in any capacity after the nova, whereas further planets may survive the aftermath, if they're incredibly lucky.

SR forces have stepped into the streets to halt any form of rioting which may occur, however most civilians are currently at home. All non-critical industries have the option of sending their employees home for the week while the government decides what can be done.

"Whatever we're going to do, we need to do it NOW."

Commandant Soldant Hawkins is yet to formalise a statement. At this stage however, he seems to be leaning heavily on the ion drive technology.

Less than a week after the communication from the Draconic Order, six Ossalur Class Freighters dropped out of hyperspace at the edge of the system, moving toward the planet at high speed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/azureink/ships/transport001.jpg

Escorting them were eight Svent Class Corvettes and a single Kepesk Class Destroyer.

They broadcasted their IDs as they entered sensor range.

((If I load up the fleet's storage areas completely, I can only transport about 39,000 people plus basic supplies comfortably, possibly 40,000 if crammed in.))

OOCLY: Nation Population: 3.663 Billion
Population in Phobos: Approx 1Billion (Phobos is an ultra-large "city" about the size of Tasmania). Project Arkage can carry about half the population of Phobos with supplies to start a colony on a planet near a close star. Advance rockets are launched and halted along the way for re-supply en-route. Everyone else is pretty much doomed.

IC:
A shocking turn of events today has caused serious problems for the SR Government's Health department as hospitals in the cities of Deimos and Steyr have been flooded with sick citizens and military personnel. The SR forces have quarantined the cities and Neptune, the forigen city where all outside of SR reside. SR forces are now distributing surplus military gas masks and filters to the citizens of the city of Phobos, the capitol of SR.

The mystery illness has struck only four weeks after the annoucnment that the star is ready to go nova at any time soon. The SR Public Safety department are currently terrified that this is the beginning of the end for the SR cities.

In other news, The Foreign Office of the Draconic Order has sent assistance to the SR forces. The Union Aerospace Corporation has stepped up operations on the SR Military Orbital Facility to prepare the ion engines for Project Arkage, which as been given the all clear from the SR Military to proceed. Citizens from Phobos are the only people to leave, with the quarantine. It is the first time that non-military personnel have been allowed access to Area Theta, the large, underground SR military facility.

The first of the re-supply rockets were launched today. These rockets have been placed along the path that Project Arkage is to take towards Kappa Argo Navis, the closest star known to have a rocky world which may be hospital to human life. The planet has previously had unmanned probes placed in its orbit, but colonisation was placed on hold during military conflict.

SR Military Orbital Facility:
"Sir! Incoming transmition."
An ion rocket test engine soared past the window. A successful test.
"Finally. The assistance arrives. Let's see.. 39000 people. Project Arkage better work."
"It's better than nothing sir."
"Yeah. I suppose so. Right, clear them"

"SR Dock Orbital Facility sending mooring instructions....
Dock at docks 1-6 and await for civilian transports. Ensure that all vessles keep clear of the pinwheel launcher, as this will be used to transport Project Arkage from the planet surface to orbit."

The pinwheel launcher was a large orbital platform that worked on the ever-elusive "tether" principal of orbit (OOC: Tethers are an actual technology but NASA is yet to get them to work properly, asuming that it can even be done. The idea for this pinwheel launcher is the same general idea but it spins in space and has a large hook on the ground. At a certain point the hook equalises speed and appears to suspend itself in mid air. That's when the ship hooks on and is carried onward to orbit.) Once in space it would be all up to the ion engines to get Projeck Arkage out of there to Kappa Argo Navis.

Commandant Soldant Hawkins today has made a startling announcement to the nation of SR:

"The city of Deimos is no more. At 1130 today, the sick occupants of the city have fallen. The SR public safety element have closed off all further access to the city, and withdrawn all medical and military staff that are not ill. The City of Deimos is now a city of the dead. The remaning ill who miracously survived are currently entombing the dead to prevent the possibility of further contaimination, and are then entombing themselves to avoid the risk of their contamination of others

In other news, the forces aboard the Civilian Orbital Facility are dead, cause unknown. That is all."

On Project Arkage
Major Jay Hawkins and Major James Field looked around. This was it. Everyone was wearing the stupid powered armour that looked like a poor prop from a really old, 1960's space movie. The traditional view of space marines, except without the oversized miniguns. Jay surveyed the area and sneezed. A bad thing to do when removing your helmet seals your fate in one of the cities of the dead.

They fit a fair chunk of Phobos into Project Arkage, nearly half. The joint venture between the SR Military and Union Aerospace Corporation was only half-heartedly assembled over many, many years. They stepped up production towards the end, thank god they did. The ion engines were somewhat old, but the newer ones had blown up in 50% of the test runs.

"That's a big ship."
Field looked up at it. It really was huge. The real reason Area Theta was so large was to accomodate this. Large, expensive, and with no fore-seeable gain, SR took a gamble on this. Sometimes though, the house loses.

"Damn straight Hawkins. It's gigantic."
The ship was named the Necron, paying homage to an old tabletop wargame of years gone by. The people in it decided to call themselves the Necrontyr. The ship's massive computer network contained everything of the SR people, including technology and history and records and everything they could possibly fit. Not everything would fit, so separate, chemical rockets were launched into space for the ship to collect and attach, and take to wherever they needed to go. The experimental synthesiser was also attached, and with the right materials, would allow SR to establish a colony on some other distant planet. In actual fact, if there was no need for a synthesiser or to start a new colony, Phobos would be saved. Unfortunately, there was. SR knew of another planet, not overly far away from their planetary base here, which was relatively hospitable. They were heading for there now. They wanted to be there ages ago.

"Well Field, let's take our place."
Jay and James walked up door A5, where the heros of the War on DOL mostly were. Jay thought about how much he'd seen, how much he'd watched grow here on SR. He watched the video monitor and wondered how far out from the planet the old radio signals stopped. He wanted to hear them all, relive the history of SR, until they finally reached nothingness.

James also watched the monitor, watching the special live action cam from inside Deimos, the City of Death. Then back to Phobos, where more people were being piled into trucks to come to the ship. He then thought back to the days of Lapse. How trivial that seemed.

They sat. They waited. They lived.

In the Commandant's Quarters of Project Arkage
"For crying out loud, this is far too small."
Commandant Soldant Hawkins spilled coffee over a history paper that he printed out for a bit of reading. The cabins were far too small, FAR too small, and everything folded up or down or was built into the walls or something like that. The computer terminal came down from the room, the bathroon was a horrific shower/toilet combo, the bed was pretty much a roll of foam on the floor, and people ate ration packs that required water to be heated, and that would be all.

He was trying to lay on the bed and watch the terminal at the same time. The "chair" came out from the wall, and a "table" folded from the opposite wall. This meant that you sat in a corner to sit at a desk. Next door a minister was on the phone arguging with somebody.

"This is Arkage Command, five hours till hook."
Soldant sighed and started to look at the starmaps. Kappa Argo Navis was close (5 light years away) but the trip would take ages. The effect of time would mean that they wouldn't age an awful lot, but they would in fact be rather old. Soldant sat there and pondered it for a while.

"Arkage Command. Two hours till hook. All passengers loaded. Civilian Orbital Transports loading onto Darconic Order freighters."

It was nearly time.

Some assistant guy ran into Supreme overlord Time Lapses' department, holding a semi official looking piece of paper.
"My Lord, there is a huge problem, of interstellar proportions!" said the assistant
"OMG NOOOEEESS!!!!!" cried a somewhat paranoid and tired Time Lapse
"The national Society for prevention of cruelty to random pieces of sand has won a huge victory... they now have 2 Members...."
"oohhhkaay" said lord time lapse, having no idea what the assistant guy was on about
"oh, and also, our long term arch nemesis, SR, is going to go booms :)"
"w00tah" said Time Lapse
"Uhh, the commander of military forces suggests this could be a good opportunity to take advantage of. Despite our overwhelming naval and space forces, SR would still have a better chance of winning a war, purely due to more combatants. He believes we have 2 ways to go about this. We can use the opportunity to destroy SR for good; we will stop all relief efforts. The problem with this is that we will look like murderers to the rest of the international community. An alternative is to help them, but ensure that no weapons or other combat utilities leave the planet. We have a large fleet of Star destroyers swell, we have approximately 40 equipped for battle, and they would be able to hold 20,000 people each, although, we would not want to use more than 20 of them. We also have around 60 ships, not equipped for battle, they can be run on a skeleton crew, and would be able to hold 60,000 people peers ship. This means we would be able to transport 4 million people off the planet."
"Hmm... 4 million is pretty small when the population of the planet is nearly 4 billion..." replied Time Lapse
"Still better than nothing, and if we only take non-combatants..."
"Well, contact SR, and see what they have to say about us offering assistance. We also need somewhere to put them"
"The commander also thought about that my lord. Several light-years away, there is an uninhabited solar system with a planet that would be able to support human life. We can dispatch an engineering crew there to start immediate building of accommodation for 4 million people."
"Well, contact SR, and see what they have to say..."

"Commandant! Commandant! I'm sorry, where's section Omega 4?"
"You're in Lambda, son, long way from anywhere..."
"I need to get this to the Commandant."
"Follow me."

Defence Minister Alex Townsend was lost. Project Arkage was a huge ship, and he didn't know where anyone was. He had an important communication for Hawkins. This was big news.

They took express elevators, ran along corridoors, and past the synthesiser. Townsend stole a look at the machine responsible for saving and dooming the lives of SR citizens.
"All our knowledge is in that thing. With it we'll live again."
Alex looked at the engineer.
"Yeah... and it just killed off the living of Steyr."
"Nevermind."

Finally, they had arived at Omega. Alex knocked and entered the cramped room.

"Important message."
Soldant grabbed the piece of paper and started to read it.
"Lapse? What the?"
"It's a chance, sir, we have to consider it."
"Hmm... why non-combatants?"
"It's logical sir that they are worried we might comandeer his ships."
"Or is it something else?"
"We don't have time sir, lift-off is in 2 hours, otherwise we're going to have to wait another day. And another day might bring disaster."
"Right well... here's the new plan. Fill Lapse with all the civilians that are either arriving or are on Project Arkage, shouldn't take too long to get them off. While that's happening, have SR forces move in and take their positions. Take out some of the civilian cargo and move it to Lapse's fleet to accomodate the SR people. Then move some SR weapons into this thing to balance it all out."
"So we're not giving an inch of our forces?"
"No. Lapse says he doesn't want military forces, so we won't give him military forces. But nobody said anything about Project Arkage."

The two laughed. While that was happening though, civilians were streaming out of the Necron and into transports, ready to go up into space and to meet Lapsian ships. SR Military forces were streaming in to take the original positions. Project Arkage was now saving primarily Military personnel, while Lapse was saving Civilians only.

30 Minutes before take-off
"Command, this is HR. All designated civilians have cleared, Military personnel are currently strapping themselves in. 20 minutes till greenlight."
"HR, Command confirms 20 minutes till green. Sealing hatches."
The hatches sealed. The bay doors began to open. The sky of SR was no longer blue. It was instead a sickly green colour, with an oversized sun that looked hellish and doomed. Stars were starting to show through and whisps of gas were starting to streak across the sky. The atmosphere was thinning, the star was dying. SR needed to move their asses now.

Much later
"Prepare for hook!"
Everyone was strapped in. Jay Hawkins couldn't stop smiling. He didn't know why.
lurrrch
Civilian shuttles were flying up into the sky along with the unarmed SR Interceptors. They were there meerly to guide the civilian shuttles through SR military space flight paths. After that they'd dock and die at the SR Orbital Military Facility.
The hook attached.
Arkage lifted up.
"Necron is away!"
The pinwheel launcher lifted the ship up out of the atmosphere, where it waited. Jay looked out the cabin window. Space expanded.
They were away.

The Lapse forces arrived in system; it was the least organised and quickest put together mishmash of ships for many many years. In total, there was now room for 4 million, 2 hundred thousand people on the ships. Each ship had approximately 1 armed Lapsian guard for every 100 SR civilian. The ships sent the massive shuttles down to start the loading up of civilians, the ships launched the fighters to patrol the area for threats apart from the obvious, and several battle ready destroyers took up positions in a defensive net.

A single, heavily armed corvette also came in system, hidden. IT was full of 100 of the Bristilian sword Tails. The elite of the Lapse military. The corvette landed at the space station, it was complete chaos. They started making there way towards the central computer of the station. They must know what happened to SR's military, and what they had been planning.

From the estimations of the computers aboard the flagship of the fleet, the super star destroyer Non-such, admiral Picketts knew that they only had 36 hours before he would have to move his ships out of the system. In that time, he had to get as many people on the ships as possible. Billions of people from the planet would die tomorrow, and there was nothing he could do.

"What is Lucy...." asked the President, somewhat agitated

"Sir, SR, a somewhat space farring nation, has issued a plee for help. Apparently, their Star is going nova, and they are attempting to evacturate their populace" sadi the Aide

"Do we know how many people they have?" Asked Leonard McCoy, the President

"Yes Sir, records indicate they have about.......*files through the papers she is holding*... 3 1/2 billion, with about 1 billion in their biggest city" said the Aide

"Hrmm....we have 5 carrier class ships that just left drydock....*sighs*....get me Fleet Admiral Jackon, i need to speak to him" said McCoy

***Several Minutes Later***
"Hello Jackon" said Leonard

"Hello Sir, what can i do for you?" asked jackon

"Look, i relize we have our fleet out protecting out science vessels, but i need you to send the 5 new carrier class's and an escort to SR's planet. They need to evacurate as many as they can. I will be sending a transmission later, asking them if they still require our aide, if they do, i want those ships to leave for hyperspace" said the President

"Aye sir....at most, even without any fighters, but with supplies and a skeleton crew and 50 soldiers......each can take on about.....3000 people. 15,000 isn't really alot sir" said the admiral

"damnit son, what do you purpose?" asked the president

"Well, we send the carriers, with 2 destroyers as escorts. But, also empty the main fleets flagship, and use it to carry some.....that puts it upto about 17,000. Its better then 15k sir" said the admiral

"Fine.....make the preparations, you have two hours before i send the transmission" said the president

"Yes sir *he salutes and the screen goes blank*"

***Two hours later***
"To the leaders of SR. I am President Leoanrd McCoy, President of Trekys located in the Rigel System. We are willing to send 5 carriers class' and our flagship to help evac ur planet. At most, they can carry 17,000 people, its not alot, i know, but its something. Also, we'll be willing to share our hyperspace technology with you to help ur efforts with any ships you may have. Engineers and scientists will be on board a Science Class, which will be accompanying the carrier's, flagships, and their destroyer defenders" as the President is saying this, he is writting down orders on a piece of paper, which he gives to the aide, its says *Get a science vessel prepped at once* the aide nods, and the President continues," I relize these are dyer times, and anything you need once you get to your new home, we will try out best to help. Our ships can be at your planet in 4 days. And then, depending on the distance of your new planet, maybe able to make more then one trip to help out. If you want this aide, please reply, and my ships will leave immediatly. President McCoy"

With that, the President sits back, and awaits a reply...

"The Razors" SR Striker Squad stood around the central control cluster of the Military space station. Splicer Rick Williams was trying to recover the data of the computer.
"Forget it Williams, let's get out of here!"
"No! There's still some history left in this!"
"Williams, I'm ordering you to haul your ass out of there! The computer's fried mate, it's not going to operate! Even so the drives are probably long- what the hell is that?"
Corporal Legget watched as a Lapsian Swordtail passed by the corridoor.
"SR STRIKERS! FREEZE IN YOUR TRACKS!"
Everyone snapped to the corridoor, and watched the swordtail.
Private Williams was startled and punched his powered armour elbow joint through the system. The computer started to crackle and fry, catching fire and igniting the system. The data started to wipe.
"Crap! For the love of cheese Private, can't you do anything correct?"
Williams was beyond caring. The system was starting to depressurise as the computer compacted and and the station crapped it out into space. The door sealed off and Williams and the remnants of the computer floated away into space.

Standoff. SR was watching the swordtails.
"If you want that computer, it's gone. Now just leave us alone, we're dead men anyway. Get in your ship and leave. It'd be a shame to doom you with the rest of us."
They waited. The Razors didn't have an awful lot of cover, just some crappy boxes. But of Corporal Richardson's welding tourch bottle was breeched, the wall section would probably explode and the station would go down faster.

Striker. We do not want to hurt you. We want that computer and the information contained in it as much as we do.

A lone sword tail stepped out into teh room and lay his rifle on the floor. He started walking towards the strikers, yet not close enough to appear to be a threat.

Help us access the computer, and we will get you off this station. We have enough room in our corvette for your crew. If we cannot get into this computer, do you know of the location of one which we would be able to access?

The sword tail stood still in the middle of the room. He felt taht the striker would not attack him. They knew that the swordtails were there only chance off the station. He also knew that if they did attempt to kill him, the swordtails in the hall would come in here and avenge him by killing all the strikers.

Back on the Non-such, Picketts was running as on schedule as to be expected. so far, several hundred thousand civilians had been loaded onto the ships.

"Beginning Ion Engine drive activation..."
The Necron was powering up the ion engines for the escape. Soon they'd make enough headway to be moving to a moderately safe distance from the sun, but it was a small, small step compared to the distance they had to travel. The Necron started to pull away from the planet and out into open space.

"Incoming signal."
The Comms centre read the message from Trekys. Commandant Soldant also watched from his cabin.

On the Military Facility...
Sargent Corpus watched the swordtail. His squad watched too, but their fingers wern't on the tirgger anymore. The lure of a ship out of here was great, a wonderful opporunity.

Corpus looked at his squad and signaled to lower weapons.
"Hmmm... this computer is fried, swordtail, and it was the major data hub. The only only remaining computer details civilian transports from this station. But I think you want something else... perhaps the Necron's load?"

Corpus clicked a command into his throatmic. The small microphone picked up sounds and transmitted them from the throat. By making a clicking noise, squad members could communicate.

"Sorry, I have a cold." smiled Corupus. The clicking resumed.

Richardson got the message loud and clear. He held his weapon losely, with the barrel pointing up towards his blowtourch cylander. He had the SR-10, an old shotgun that was prone to jamming, going off at the slightest touch, and generally making a mess of things. If he dropped it, there was a good chance it'd peirce the cylander and blow them all to hell.

Did he want to do it? He did if it meant betraying his family about the Necron. He didn't come here to die only to live and endanger their lives. He didn't know they were with Lapse now. Had he known that, he might have ignored the order.

They waited and watched.

"The WMDs are currently locked in their silos. They've been transfered to the other side of the planet many years ago for storage. Once the all clear is given, they will be detonated to extinguish any other life on the planet. But apparently the forces there have orders to detonate if anything gets close...

Lets get back to the ship, and see if we can find any computers on the srface. Head towards the military installations.

Back at the corvette, the junior officers escorted the strikers into the main chamber of the ship.

"Okay, what are your names, and who are your families. We will contact our fleet and get them too pick tehm up for you. You will be escorted to a habitable planet several lightyears from Lapses' system. We are currently in teh process of setting up somewhere for you to live there."

The star wasn't playing nova happily. It was much too fast, like it was on extreme time accelleration. It expanded and contracted, expanded and contracted, visibly.

"This isn't right.."
Scientists onboard the Necron had never, ever seen this. The star was supposed to swell, puff off an outer shell of gas, and then contact and repeat until all that was left was a white dwarf star. This thing was pulsating and sending streams of gas all over the place.

The remnants of the computer had since smashed into the heart of Phobos, the last bastion of SR Civilisation apart from the last shuttles taking off to ferry passengers to Lapse in Area Theta. The computer was wrecked, crushed, but one drive survived with the launch codes for the WMDs.

The remaining SR forces that were keeping unauthorised civilians from boarding shuttles were starting to get worried. The star was ready to go, and the atmosphere couldn't possibly be good for breathing; the gasses from the star were leaking into the atmosphere. They stood around the computer. Qurantine was long broken after Project Arkage took off, there was no point to bother with it anymore.

They watched as the corvette started planetfall, breaking a bit through the gas and crap in the sky. They noticed the Lapsian markings, and they yelled for joy. They were SAVED! The sick and the unlucky and the worthless were going to be saved!

"SILENCE! THE LOT OF YOU!"
A General came out of a building with a megaphone.
"You're doomed, they're doomed, they set foot outside their ship and the poisoned and ruined planet will kill them. We're all going to die, accept it. What is that?"
The General pocketed the storage device and walked off. Nobody was watching him. Everyone was too busy waiting for the Lapsian corvette to land and whisk them away, far away.

They were sick though. They were infectious.
The General wandered off and cut open the protective housing. After cutting it open, he thew it violently around the walls of a house, kicking it, throwing it everywhere. He then went across the road to a computer repair shop. He scanned the back room, looking for the device. Ah ha! He'd found it. An industral strength magnet. He loaded the device in.

Then the general coughed. Again and again. He felt incredibly sick, like he wanted to vomit. He pressed the GO button but threw up violently over the machine. Blood poured out of his mouth as he squirmed around on the floor in pain and agony. Finally he lay still, in a pool of his own blood.

The Lapse ship came down to land. The ships' computers said taht the air was several degrees hotter than usual, and also contained a dangerously high level of noxious gasses. When 20 of the sword tails suited up into envirogear they noticed teh mobs of people outside, hoping for a way off.
"Call down a shuttle. we have a large amount of people here who require transport. They are military though, so leave them in the carrier for the transit." the commander called over the radio.

The group of swordtails started towards the main base, where the computers would be, shoving there way through masses hoping to get on the ship. When tehy enteredthe compound, there were bodies stacked against the wall. The heat was causing them to decompose faster than normal, and if they had not being in the envirosuits, the smell would have made one vomit. They moved towards the server room, when the tech swordtail had a brief look at the server rack, and didn't find teh storage device, he called out that it was missing.
"I want any removable storage in teh area taken back to the ship. CDs, DVDs, Floppys drives, the lot. You 4." the commander said motioning towards 4 soldiers, "come with me, and we will see if we can find the hard drive." They had barely walked 20 meters when they almost tripped over the general of the instllation, he was lieing dead on the floor, and in his hads there was a vomit and blood covered hard drive near a big magnet.

"Grab the hard drive, there still may be data that is acessible on it. put it in a plastic bag and lets get out of here."

A Lapse transport was coming down now, teh commander called ahead and said to make the transport a quarantine ship, and that noone be allowed to leave it until directed by the admiral of the squadron. the crew would all have to wear envir suits teh entire voyage, but that was an essential precaution.

The corvette, and the transport fuller than regulation of the SR military personnell headed away from the planet. A destruct mechanism had been set on the transport so that if the SR military personnell did attempt anything, they would be space dust.

On teh Non-Such, Picketts looked over the fleet, the ships were 30% full, and they only had 18 hours to go, the stars' reaction had sped up...

The drive hadn't completely wiped. When the Lapsian forces looked inside, they'd find WMD codes, but nothing else. Everything else was smashed up and destroyed. The SR Military personnel were crowding, pushing and shoving, but happy. They were going somewhere, somewhere away from the base, sick or not. They didn't really care where they were off to. Anywhere away from the planet was great.

The ion engines of the Necron were at 60% efficiency, almost ready to allow for sufficient escape of the solar system.

The orbital dock facility was starting to break at one end. Dangerous gasses swirled around that end, tearing at it. It had now been sealed off, a silent piece of the station.

The star continued to flare violently and expel gasses.

"We're almost away sir."
Commandant Soldant drew his attention away from the events unfolding to look at space. Space was the final frontier. SR was now going to have to exist in space.
"Yeah... almost home free."

The ships are full thought Admiral Picketts, I have succeeded with what i came here to do. The swordtail squad have reported back as successfuls as they can be. Only thing left to do is get out of here. He called out the order to jump to hyperspace over the communications unit. The ships started peeling off, and teh fleet jumped just out of the system.

The admiral felt guilty he couldn't save more of the people on the planet. If SR had warned earlier then perhaps more could have being done. But they had not. The engineering crews from Lapse had set up temporary accomodation for the refugees on the new planet, and would be shipping in thousands of tonnes of food, water, and other supplies.

"Sir! Emergency in SR. Looks like their, 'ahem', our sun is going to nova and SR is within the radius of the suns expansion"

The deputy was a little more tense then usual.
The commander looked at him with a little more attention.
"Do you have family in SR?"
"Yes sir, My wife and daughter are currently holidaying in Phobos"

This was serious. Lots of Orsirians went to SR looking for warmer climates for holidays. Warmer than Orsirus's system fringe temperature anyway.

"Get me General Myotas on the line! NOW!"
"Yes sir." The deputy picked up the phone and bashed some numbers. A few seconds later he gave it to the commander.

"General Myotas? Yes, good. I suppose you've heard about the SR emergency? Excellent. You're one step ahead of me. Make sure you send security as well. Good, in this kind of panic there could be much looting. Alright, I'll leave the necessary arrangements to you. You have permission to use everything at your disposal."

The commander hung up and could hear the Siren blaring away in the distance as the planetary spacedock became to full alert. Within minutes he could see the Ukaryion Battlecruisers breaking for orbit. With a full complement of Devastators security could easyily be managed, especially seeing as they all should be the SS edition or the Space-Series.

Yes, there should be alot to be done but alot could as be acomplished with the right precortions. Each cruiser should be able to carry around 7000 refugees while carring the ground and air troops.

The ships made orbit and met up with the 4 already oribting the planet. There was a total of 12 Battlecruisers, so a total of
84,000 SR citizens could be evacuated, and with the engines at fullpower and with the spacefold components fully-functional 1 trip could be made every 12 hours to Orsirus.

The commander spoke aloud, unaware that the deputy was still in the room. "After this we'll have to erect a monument to Auman. Without their help we would not have had the technology to build these ships. Let alone the engines."

"Yes Sir"
The Commander spun around. "You're still here?"
"Yes Sir"
The deputy looked a little worried.

"Listen, I need you to do me a little favour. Take this map of the building, I need you to go to this section of the building over there." He pointed out he window to a building with at least 25 guards patroling it.

"What should I do once i get there?" The deputy asked, half scared and half excited. No one ever got to enter the Tarterus Complex.

"Look for a man, his name is Commander-General Antros. Thats right, hes second only to me. The only words you are to say to him are 'TERUS DECUM' and he'll know exactly what to do. After that you should leave the complex immediately."

"YES SIR!" The deputy half ran and half walked out of the room. This was a perfect chance to test the next generation of space transports.

Meanwhile, above the planet the battlecruisers had been charging the SpaceFold Engines. 5...4....3.....2....1.......They had reached SpaceFold and were flung into a small catapult, shooting them in the direction of SR, they would reach there in a matter of hours.

"Right... and your arm please? Thank you..."
The sick civilian wasn't discovered until after the ship was at 100%. They had to leave now, the nova was going psycho and preparing to kill whatever was left on the planet. The people had radiation sickness. Fortunately SR was managing to treat the people with radiation sickness, and with Orsirus on their way, even more could be saved from the city of Steyr.

Lapse had left for the planet. The DO freighters should be ready to move soon too, but after that, SR was nearly certain that the nova would consume the planet. More people with limited radiation sickness were gathered into a small sleeper ship and launched to the outskirts of the system.

The 12 Ukaryions class Battlecruisers dropped out of the spacefold into their worst nightmares. The Sun was worse then they had been briefed about.

The admiral stood on the bridge of the Nemisis and looked at the planetside map that had been provied. The closest and most populated city was styer and thats where they would go. All 12 battlecruisers sunk to a low orbit and launched all shuttles. This was going to be insane.

The devastator pilots were to act as crowd control while the civilians boarded the transports and to prevent any disputes from getting out of hand.

Meanwhile, back on Orsirus, massive camo nets fell down away from a large and hidden starship construction facility. This was the berth of the Terum Mordicas, flagship of the Orsirian fleet. It had started off as a large transport vessel but over the last 5 years the universe had become for hostile and large amounts of weaponary had been added. Somewhere along the line the original idea of a transport had been lost and the end result was a massive Supercruiser with a large amount of cargo space and a broad range or weaponary.

With its emergency crew on-board and making the nessesary preperations for a spacefold, the Terum Mordicas began its maiden voyage. It's objective, save as many lives as possible and its captain, Commander-General Antros was going to make sure of that. Within minutes it had broken through the atmosphere and had torn away from the planets gravity. It made spacefold with no problems at all. The commander was very pleased. The spacefold engine installed on this ship was at least 10 years ahead of development and it would only take them a few minutes to travel the system to SR.

Hopefully in time.

The Advanced Shuttles Carina Wing carried 100 SR Strikers to move ahead and assist with the unloading of the SR Citizens on the newly dubbed planet Necrontyr.

The shuttles were literally railguned out of the Necron, hurling towards the planet. The people inside were literally knocked out when it was forced forward, but they'd re-awaken for planetfall. 20 ships launched, totaling 2000 Strikers towards Necrontyr.

"SR Advance Wing Carina to Lapsian Fleet, advisory of SR Planetfall at colony."

They arrived and watched the Lapsian fleet manuvering and unloading. The Necron was still about a week away, starting its slowdown process now. It would land on the planet and would convert into the first major SR city, to be called Phobos, as it was last time.

The Strikers established planetfall, landed on the surface and disembarked. They were armed, but only to act as a police force. However they were on edge, tense, cautious about Lapsian response. But this was SR's new planet, and SR had just as much right to be there as Lapse did, if not more.

They approached the vessles.
"Hey there guys... mind if we help unload this?"

Back at Steyr
SR Military Police noticed the Orsirus transport landing and immedieately formed a riot barrier around the entrances.
"What's this guys? We going home?"
"Sure are. Thank the cheese for Orsirus."
Names were called and people sent into the transports, while pilots broke ranks to allow people into the ships.

Finally, they were full. The MPs started pushing people back as the transports took off. A structurally unsound building collapsed, crushing a great chunk of the people. It didn't matter. But the MPs knew that it DID matter. They WERE getting out of there, this wasn't the last transport!

"Citizens, this isn't the last transport. We need you to follow our directions so we can be organised for another larger transport's arrival. Steyr is being saved thanks to Orsrius forces. We need to organise 880,000 people into shuttles. That's the remaining populous of Steyr. DO NOT CROWD or you will be shot! Now, if you follow our directions, you will go to the new planet, but ONLY IF you do so, so for Cheese's sake, do as we say!"

Civilians piled into shuttles and started to take off. They were going to their new homes, waiting for the TD to arrive, to save them.

The last shuttle docked at the Nemisis and the count was full. All 12 Ukaryions were full and he gave the order to charge the spacefold to the new planet. It would take the, at least 6 days to reach there but at least they saved some lives. The admiral was completley unaware of the TD's launch and began thinking of ways to save more civilians when the Terum Mordicas dropped from spacefold. He was completely stunned but recognised the insignia of the Orsirian space fleet.

The Terum Moridcas dropped out of spacefold.
The commander looked at his watch. 10 minutes exactly, just the kind of precision the ship was build for. Looking out the bridge veiwports he could see the 12 Ukaryions and he hailed them. "This is the Orsirian Flagship Terum Mordicas, by order of the Commander we are here to evacuate the remaining citizens of Styer. You are ordered to continue to the new SR world awaiting its citizens."

The admiral responded quickly, "Acknoledged Terum Mordicas, we will continue on. Goodluck."
The 12 starships made spacefold towards the new world and the commander-general could now see the shuttles being launched from the surface. The message to the commandant had obviously got through and passed on back to SR. It was going to be a tight fit but they would all have to fit on.

The shuttles docked, the citizens disembarked and were moved to other temporary living areas elsewhere on the ship. The shuttles would only barely fit into the small fighter storage bays but the command crew managed to open areas to 1 shuttle making ample space to house more citizens in the docking ports.

After and hour of arranging and re-arranging spacing for the citizens, all 880,000 citizens were safe aboard the TD, however they were not comfortable. It was close to impossible to walk a corridor a without walking on someone.

The commander-general looked once more out the bridge viewport and looked at the dying star. There wasnt much time left. He gave the order and the Terum Mordicas escaped into the spacefold.

"GO GO GO GO GOOOOOO!"
"What's happening?"
"PUNCH IT!"
"Is that the-?"
"RUUUUUN!"

An NBC exploded in its silo, blasting the silo to kingdom come and ripping up a sizeable area of Area Theta. It had detonated prematurely. Someone had definately screwed that up.

The nova was flaring further and further. One of the outer shells was preparing to eminate from the star. When that happened it would be all over for everyone left on the old SR planet. Thankfully, all those who could be evacuated, were.

"This is SR orbital command, all forces must evacuate the area now! I say again, evacuate! All remaning SR personnel get to the shuttles guys, we might get saved by the Trekys transports! Go go go!"

Chaos reigned for the first time in SR since centuries ago when the nation was experiening a nuclear power crisis. Nobody had any regard for order. Shuttles launched, filled to the brim, some collapsing and hitting walls or running off their launchrail tracks. The nova expanded, preparing to engulf the planet, the docking facilities, and the straggling shuttles.

Ensign Max Vercetti was fighting with the shuttle's controls. Someone hadn't calibrated it too well and they were veering all over the place. It was fitted with an annoying computerised voice that insisted on explaining every tiny little action.
"Translation... rotation... traslation. Catuion! Spin. Catuion! Spin. Translation. Rotation"
"I KNOW, you stupid bloody machine, shut the hell up!"
"caution! Nova. Caution! Nova. Caution! Nova"
Vercetti looked at his co-pilot. "Shit."
The star expanded, swallowing up everything in its path. It moved ever closer to SR, cooking the surface, deep frying all life on the planet. In a matter of minutes it was a barren, cooked urban wasteland, filled with frying human corpses, burning on a hellish urban cityscape. The fires, the burning, the hell.

Then it contracted back, a bit smaller than its original size, but the shell of gas it had puffed off was now hurtling towards the shuttle.
"Oh dear Cheese... we're completely screwed."
"Caution! Nova. Caution! Nova. Caaauguuuuu"
Static. CRASH.
The back of the shuttle was jolted violently and Vercetti was smashed into the control pannel, his skull shattering, neck snapping, splattering his brains and fragments of his skull into the cockpit. Then a large piece of the back of the shuttle snapped off, depresurising the unlucky passengers, and slicing the cockpit in half. The crew were sucked into space, lost amid the gas of the planetary nebula.

The nova had struck. Only the shuttles were safe now. Everyone else was gone.

~The DO convoy dropped into hyperspace as the nova hit the planet, the destroyer 'Aurix' stayed behind, tractoring in the remaining shuttles before it headed out of system to the new planet. Like the surviving shuttles, it took a bit of damage from the outer plasma bubble, but remained intact enough for the rescue. It would take a little longer for the ship, because of the damage, to reach its destination. But the survival of the shuttles was worth it.~

Back on the planet, the Necron had arrived, and unloading and colonisation processes had begun.

The Terum Mordicas and the 12 Ukaryions dropped out of spacefold and took their positions over the new planet. As soon as they had reached their orbits they began lauching shuttles filled with the survivors. Within the hour, 3/4 of all the survivors had reached the surface along with supplies to start the new colony.

The commander-general aboard the TD gave orders to the other battercruisers to stay in their orbits to provide protection for SR during this time. Who knew who would take advantage of this situation

IC:

Necrontyr was a rocky world with little water, orbiting a small star. For all intents and purposes, it wasn't the greatest place to settle. Howerver, nobody within SR knew of any other planet that would have been more suitable. Necrontyr was habital though, and water could be replaced with a hydrocon, courtest of the Union Aerospace Corporation (OOC: Doom 3 fans, let's hear it!). There was a tradeoff though; Necrontyr was rich in mineral resources.

The Necron converted into the start of a starbase. The Synthesiser started creating the necessary tools out of the natural resources. Slowly the Necron converted itself into the spaceport of Phobos, the new wave of SR cities. Enclosed within a biodome, the new city of Phobos provided accomodation for the survivors. Existing cabins were joined as six to a new home, while new ones were produced by the synthesiser. The entire design was modular, with living spaces consisting of two rooms: a sleeping quarters and an entertainment/eating area. Utilities folded down from walls or dropped down or came up from ceilings and floors. It was slightly cramped, but liveable.
