[Earth II] Germania instates new Chancellor; mass defensive actions ensue.

OOC: This is a precursor to the World War, just so you all know.

In a recent announcement, Großfeldmarshal Helmut Kahn has released an upsetting turn of events. After many painful years with a struggle against stomach cancer, Chancellor Wilhelm Einheit died last night in his home in Salzburg, Austria.

Shortly after his death, Helmut Kahn [Supreme Military Commander of the European Theater] was inaugurated as the new Chancellor of Germania by a majority vote of Einheit's Chief Advisors and two sons.

Before his death, Einheit had began a plan of great defensive measures of The Teutonic Order, which included massive defense lines on all the borders of European lands, and an increase in the technological and development funding, and personnel numbers of the Kriegsmarine and Lüftwaffe, respectively.

Along the borders, massive Gun Emplacements, Kormoran-II LRMS installations, SAM and AAA sites, and rapid response groups are being assembled and constructed.

Having already started programs for new fighters and bombers with abilities and technology never yet seen or tested - and having already proved themselves during the war with Wick - the numbers and assembly rate of these new planes have increased drastically.

The Lüftwaffe, having until now, severely lacked manpower, technology, and equipment numbers, drastically needed to be revamped. It is still in the process; - with new aircraft not yet having been tested and accepted by the Lüftwaffe - however, several new models have now been approved and are in testing phases.

The Kriegsmarine, before Einheit's sudden death, had developed a new attack submarine with the technological ability capable of allowing it to slip behind enemy lines undetected and flank the enemy from behind.

This project is still being improved, with a Ballistic Submarine based on the same design and technology currently in testing phases.

A new aircraft carrier is also in development. Its mission is to serve the normal needs and purposes of a regular aircraft carrier. However, it is being equipped with more defensive measures: Anti-Missile Ballistic Installations placed on the lower portions of the ship and deck; Anti-Missile Automated Gun Installations with higher accuracy and faster fire-rate, with a newly-designed cooling system to prevent over-heating, and a small number of Bombardment Cannons.

This of course will allow for less aircraft; but as the new FKS-1 Fighter/Bombers have proven to be so effective and efficient in combat, the actual numbers of such will not be as high as required before with normal aircraft carrier-based fighters.

Another aircraft carrier based on the same design, but designed to carry the RVB-9 Bombers is currently in the same development phases as the one designed to carry the FKS-1 Fighter/Bombers.

The completion and testing of these models is set to occur in roughly sixty-five days.

Along the coastal borders of Germanian lands in Europe, undisclosed numbers of land-emplaced torpedo launchers equipped with the most up-to-date sonar equipment have been successfully constructed and tested. Massive Gun installations are being built at a development and construction rate never before seen by Germania. Many Long-Range, GPS- and Laser-Guided, Anti-Ship FK-19 Missile Installations have been established and tested with great success rates.

In addition to these recent developments, Anti-Submarine and Attack Helicopters patrol the coast out to 120 miles from the shore, but remain within Germanian waters.

Six new air bases located in France, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, and Poland have been built and roughly 100 total FKS-1 Fighter/Bombers have been stationed in these air bases. To add to the protection of the waters of the North Atlantic and North Sea, 35 total MVB-9 [Ultra Stealth] Bombers have also been stationed in these bases.

The government of Germania will not release any further details concerning the further defense programs; however they are not established in a position to be used in an offensive manner.

A WARNING: ANY FOREIGN SHIPS OR PLANES DETECTED IN GERMANIAN WATERS OR LANDS WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION FROM THE TEUTONIC ORDER WILL IMMEDIATELY BE ENGAGED AND DESTROYED.

Further news concerning the protection of The Teutonic Order from spies and foreign intrusion, borders to [u]all lands of Germania have officially been closed. Citizens of Germania are forbidden from exiting the country, and foreign citizens are forbidden from entering the country.

The Teutonic Order has initially made hesitant exceptions for a very few nations, which are the following:

The Torian Domain (Order of Reptiles)
Layarteb
Soviet Bloc
Cotland

Any foreign citizens found in Germania illegally will immediately be imprisoned, and a plan of action will be discussed with the respective government(s) of their homeland concerning punishment.

If a nation feels that they are trustworthy enough for The Teutonic Order to allow their citizens freely into Germanian lands, discussions can and may be arranged.

Concerning the death of former Chancellor Wilhelm Einheit, funeral arrangements have been made in Salzburg and any friends of the former Chancellor are invited to attend [OOC: I won't be making a thread for this].

Chancellor Helmut Kahn is now the Supreme Commander of The Teutonic Order. May he lead us to great prosperity and a stronger Teutonic Empire.

Presumably this will not affect our defensive treaty?

We regret the passing of your great leader, and wish his sucessor the best of luck. We would like to know how far you consider your territorial waters to extend. While not directly involved with you, we are involved in the Mediterraenean, as we control Eastern Sicily, and wish to avoid confrontation, especially over a mere misunderstanding.
