[OOC: I'm back. Very sorry about that, but RB city hasn't completely fallen yet, so can we simply move my forces forwards in time so that they attacked later rather than have some kind of weird semi-time freeze.]

OOC: How can you use an EMP missile on my planes since they are shielded from most electromagnetic radiation and unless your helis are too, we have moved in too close to safley use.
The main reason is that you can't shield a plane. Not all of it anyway. The RADAR, LIDAR and whatever other sensors you have on there all have to be exposed to the environment to work and so can't be shielded. They also provide a nice way in for the pulse.

I've been informed by someone who knows more about this than I that you could probably shield the central computer and avionics, but you lose things like "guidance" and "weapons". Needless to say, your fighter pilots will be pretty reluctant to attack effectively blind, as whatever you have left certainly wont be able to detect my helos to give you a lock, and your cannon will have to be fired effectively blind.

In summary, you'll be fighting with what is effectively WWII technology against state of the art helicopters with state of the art SAMs that haven't had their guidance royally screwed. That's the planes that don't crash, and there will probably be a few of them. I am, however, willing to accept a limited number of losses on the helos from your cannon fire, and more from AA guns on the ground. Really, I'd prefer if I was able to land without too many losses, since you greatly outnumber me on the ground anyway.

On the issue of being too close, and my helos being shielded, my helos are not shielded. Well, not to any greater extent than I assert that yours could possibly be (which is backed up by quotes I can give you if you really want). In my post I said that I fired the missiles on an over-the-horizon attack pattern - ie when I first detected your planes, which since I have radar and yours doesn't work against these particular craft in their current state, is some minutes before you've detected me. You can't post just moving into visual range of my helos and then expect them to just sit there and die as you close in and then attack them.

It would therefore be appreciated if you editted your post to include whatever damage is taken on your planes before (perhaps some of them succeeding with their countermeasures? The 98% effectiveness you posted is rather OTT) and the AA guns then I'll also post losses and then further actions with the helos. Thanks.

Erm... yeah. That post was much longer than intended. Really, I dont want to get into endless tech arguments... so how about we sort this kind of thing out on MSN first next time. I think that would work much better and cause fewer of these kind of arguments.]

OOC: Sounds good to me, I'll have planes affected by the blast land so you can have your helis land. Just keep the LZs in the edge of the city where defenses on the ground are lighter to prevent some rediculous stuff like popping in on the HQ guarded by stingers and enough AA. Otherwise, I'll agree with everything you say. Did I say the countermeasures were 98% effective though? Its more like 70-75%. Anyway, I'll edit it. I don't want to argue with you.

The two mindless and moronic minions obeyed.

J.L. drew his arm back and then thrust it forward, lashing Eastmoreland's rear with a loud and satisfying smack!, etching a bloody line in the skin as an agonized howl erupted from Eastmoreland's lungs.

Two executioners were mixing milk and honey together while the boat was wheeled to a stagnant pond. There it sat, while the other boat was set next to it on the shore beside the pond. Meanwhile, back within the torture room, the Shah laughed at Eastmoreland, "Hahah, now who is the Fuhrer, you bastard. You will die horribly." Then, turning to JL, he spoke, "After enough cuts have been made, we will apply a funneled mask which leads to the base of the tounge on his mouth and put him in the boat. The mask will allow us to forcefeed him."

OOC: Did I capture your base, Parthia? I think I was pretty much to that point when I signed off last Wednesday.

Btw, I'm calling it now. The SAFD have captured the north of RB City, and are near to capturing and holding the east part. They're moving to go with the Yaforites on the west part, who, as I see, are getting their butts kicked. 23,000?!

And, as well, Parthia, have you given up on holding the skies over RBC?

My navy is patrolling off RB coastlines now, and around 50,000 of my armed forces have landed south and southeast of RB City and are beginning to spread throughout the countryside, which has mostly been secured anyway by RB's forces, as it appears to me.

One last question - with Eastmoreland as good as dead, should the SIR coalition (as Hoggie, Prae and I are calling ourselves now) pick our own choice for leader?

At last the two lines crashed. Not one of the Shooban "bombs" had injured a YAforite, but massive holes now dotted the battlefield. The 666,000 Yaforites attacked, gunning at the PArthians. At last they would win.

AS the airforce crashed and wheeled above, the began to swoopd over the Parthian defenders, dropping bombs and shooting bullets at the PArthians on the ground.

OOC: You destroyed the airfield for my military base in Roach Busters, the only visible part of the base, but now I am revealing defensive works on ridges overlooking it. My plan is to try and force your men to surrender by surrounding them with more forces and then giving them a bit of Parthian treatment (ie painful, horrible torture broadcasted on TV and then a nice little beheading of several of them). You have severley reduced power projection, but my airbase in RB city is still active and poses a threat, plus I have a pretty constant air umbrella, AA guns, and my navy offshore.

I'll give you the north part of the city, but the east part is under no serious threat really, the Yaforites are taking quite a few casualties and there are far more Doomingsland and Parthian men in the area.

Oh, and as for the RB troops, I talked to RB and he said they were easy as hell to bribe so my other part of the plan if RB gives it an ok would probably cause RB to join in pretty fully on JL's side.

OOC @ Y2: How can all those Shoobans not cause at least some damage? Secondly, while I have a pretty tight air umbrella on RB city, i doubt your planes would get in without being hit by several hundred AIRAAMs. Thirdly, I have constant artillery fire and well dug in defenders, so keep that in mind.

OOC: You can't really use that airbase in RB City because it was never mentioned to anyone besides Josh, and PCIC/PSAT intelligence probably, no, definitely would have picked up that on a satellite imagery round (yes, we spy on the allies we don't trust 100.00% ;) ) and would have acted accordingly already, attacking both bases.

And if you're positively certain the SAFD is weak enough to end up in anybody's hands and have a mess of beheadings to deal with from your treatment in capture, then woop to that ;)

Seeing as we're in the eastern part of RB City now and more SIR troops are backing us up from the west and south, that was why I said the east part was mostly a done deal as we'll have begun to outnumber you around 5-1. And we all know Doom is not a very hard pill to swallow :p (j/k Doom)

Also to that part about RB forces being bribed, if they do that, Pacitalia will start bombing Roach-Busterian military bases and conventional targets and launch SSM and ASM missiles to countervent any fixated surprise retribution from RB forces. I don't know what "S" and "I" plan to do, but I guess they'll back me up on the completion on that task.

Finally, seeing the not quite a reply (but, yes, I saw one) on my question about the air thing, I'll assume SIR has taken control of the skies over RB City and therefore, over the whole country. An air umbrella as you call it was pretty much impossible to maintain as our planes are outnumbering yours 8-1.

Your AIRAAMs at your air base were destroyed by the surprise attack, so you couldn't have used those on Yafor.

Praetonian doctrine states that stelathed helicopters, when flying close to the ground whilst equipped with advanced anti-to-air missiles, could even out the odds when fighting combat fighters to the point that they could compete on even footing.

It was almost right. As the Parthian planes, blinded and confused, swooped upon some of the Praetonian helicopters loosing their cannon several were ripped to shreds, crashing to the ground as screaming, burning soldiers and airmen struggled to free themselves from their metal coffins. Others, however, ducking to just above the trees - too low for the Parthian AA fire to destroy more than two helicopters - let off a couple of AAMs, for a total of nearly another hundred missiles. On each side of each helicopter, two men sat manning the 12.7mm machineguns usually used for supporting troops on the ground and clearing landing sites to try to shake off the planes.

"We head for the Pacitalian sector of RB city," the Formation Leader shouted down the now activated radio-links, struggling to be heard as the Parthians shot down another helicopter even as missiles shot towards them in pre-emptive retaliation.

The cloud of helicopters was now spread out, flying at its maximum speed whilst still, presumably, forcing the Parthian planes to keep their distance. Many men were dead, but it would not be long now before they were under the safety of the Pacitalian SAM umbrella.

Dude, I had over 2500 planes over RB city, sucessfully attacking that base is virtually impossible without wanting suicide. So no, I have maintained some control over RB city skies unless you want to pry me out of there. I'm more than willing to try that out, but you needed to RP attackign that base, which is now on full alert since the Shah and JL are in the bunkers under it.

Anyway, you won't really ICly know when the RB troops stab you in the back, but I guess we can work something out about an Intelligence gain or something.

Now, I know your troops might try to fight to the death, but I have over 100,000 men overlooking them preparing to surround 4,000 men. If you want them to all do some kind of last stand, that works, but I wanted to capture a few so I can have some hostages in addition to the ones in Parthia.
