Seoul, Capital of The Republic of Ameracadia

I am coming to you live from Seoul where the results of the presidential election have just come in. The outcome has been known for some time, and now its official. Jeremy Warden has defeated President Jang Se-Hong by a landslide. We take you live now to Warden’s campaign headquarters where the President Elect is about to give his acceptance speech.

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your faith in my leadership and my vision. My vision is of a strong, and united Acadian people under the banner of our great nation. For too long we have watched idly while our brothers and sisters to the north cry out for freedom and the world does nothing. Our fellow Acadians were stolen from us by the red menace, who has enslaved and deprived them of the very necessities of life. The blood of our kin lines their streets and flows in their rivers. The time has come for all Acadians, north and south, to stand up and show the world our resolve. We will not let the oppression of our brothers go unanswered. While we remain divided we can never stand tall. These things I have promised will not be easy my friends, no they will be great trials, but necessary ones. Acadians, North and South, share the desire for a free and whole Ameracadia but it is we who have the ability for action. When Acadians are again united in spirit and in freedom we will have overcome the worst chapter in our ancient history. Left must be brought back together with right for the body to be whole, and allow the healing to begin. Time is our enemy my friends, our work must be deliberate and guided. Every day we waste our brothers suffer at our hesitation. The price may be great but our duty is clear. To remain half a people is a fate worse than death.”

The transfer of power took a few months, but finally everything was done. President Warden sat in his office looking out the window at Seoul, his city. After the rush and confusion of the campaign he was enjoying the peace of his office, for the moment.

A door opened and the Vice President Cheong Shin-Cho stepped inside. “Sir, its time for the National Security Council meeting.” Then he returned to the next room where the military leaders of Ameracadia were waiting.

Warden sighed. Savouring the last few moments of peace he let the others wait a few minutes. Then he got up and entered the meeting.

“Good afternoon mister President.” The young liaison officer stood at the end of the long table opposite the President. Between them sat generals, admirals, and the President’s staff. “We have much to discuss, so if it is alright Sir, we’ll begin.” Warden nodded and officer continued. “First Sirs, we are monitoring several ongoing incidents worldwide. The Risban Empire has invaded Morocco. Fighting continues as we speak, however, it is only a matter of time until the Risbans are victorious. Also a matter of great importance to us is unfolding in the Middle East. As you all know Ameracadia currently imports all of its oil from Saudi Arabia, it appears that in posturing to gain control of the Arabian Peninsula Warta Endor has caught the attention of the Dracun Empire. They are both mobilizing troops toward their border. Should this turn into war, it would jeopardize the security of the Panama Canal and Arabian pipelines we rely on.” He turned to the Defence Minister who in turn focused on the President.

“Sir, I suggest that we prepare the strategic oil reserve in the even that we are cut off from supply.” The minister suggested.

Warden thought for a moment. “Agreed, lets hope it wont come to that. I don’t care who our oil comes from as long as we get it. As long as the interruption isn’t long perhaps having the lines in control of a larger, more secure power would be better for the future. If there are no objections from my advisors, I think gaining favour with Warta Endor would be prudent.” None objected. “Very well, what else is on the agenda?”

The liaison officer returned to his scheduled topics. “As you requested Sir, the National Security Council has been working on plans for invading North Korea. The Council has come up with an acceptable plan that I think you will approve.” The lights were lowered and the screen behind the major came alive. “As you can see Sir, our plan consists of a 3 army assault across the border. Heavy air support will be provided before and during the campaign. Precision bombing will begin along the border positions and nearby bases 2 days prior to the invasion, 1 day prior the artillery divisions will commence bombarding enemy positions across the border. The invasion begins with the 3rd Army in the east moving north along the coast capturing Kaesong, Haeju, and Sariwon. The 2nd Army in the west will move north along that coast to secure the port of Wonsan. The 1st Army will move north between the 2nd and 3rd mopping up enemy positions and securing the Imjin river. During the campaign we will keep the 4th Army in reserve in the event of a counter attack or an invasion force making its way past our fleets and landing behind the 3 armys. While the 3 armies in the south make their way north we expect the fiercest resistance during this initial step. So when the enemy is distracted by the invasion our fleets will be clearing their coasts and delivering the 2 marine divisions we will deploy. The 1st Marines the much larger of the two forces will land in the northwest at Najin. They will be covered by the 2nd Carrier group attached to the 3rd Fleet. They will secure Najin, and Kimch’aek pushing the enemy south and awaiting the arrival of the 2nd Army. The 2nd Marines, covered by the 1st Carrier group attached to the 1st Fleet, will land at Namp’o and secure the port of P’yongyang where they will wait for the 3rd Army. Having completed their initial objectives the 1st and 3rd Armies would then move against P’yongyang, while the 2nd Army continues north to Hungnam, and Hyesan and Kanggye supported by the 1st Marines. When P’yongyang is captured the 3rd Army will move north and take Sinuiju. At this point all significant points of resistance should be destroyed or under siege. Casualties are projected to be high if resistance is heavy and continues throughout the campaign. We do expect the enemy desertion rate to be high due to the dissent and hate for the government, and the civilian attitude is expected to be quite favourable. We will drop Special Forces to prepare the way for the Marines and disrupt communications networks combined with precision strikes prior to the attack, and if all goes well we could be looking at a complete breakdown of their command and control structure overnight. If this were the case we could be assured high surrender rates from the enemy side. Their country is starving and without power, moral is poor at best.” The lights came back on and all eyes turned to the President.

Warden went over the plan in his head. It seemed sound, and had already been approved by the commanders and defence department. “What does our time table look like for the attack?”

“It will take a little over three months for the forces to be in place.” The major answered.

“Very well, make the preparations. Lets not waste time on our promise to free our oppressed brothers.”

Seoul, ROA

Months passed, preparations had been going as subtly as possible. Finally everything was inplace. Only the pre-invasion operations were left before the peninsula would erupt into battle. The key was surprise, and confusion would keep the enemy off guard and would increase the number of surrenders. And so with Operation Half Dragon days away, special ops teams flew silently across the border and cruised inland under the cover of darkness. During the night explosions and skirmishes peppered the country.

Somewhere in North Korea

The MH-47 helicopters flew low to avoid radar, they were deep in enemy territory heading for what intelligence determined was the North's primary missile launch site. Intel had monitored hasmat teams operating here as recent as yesterday. That meant this was where the North was storing its nuclear arsenal.

The helicopters settled down on a hill a few miles away from the base. As the Special Forces snuk closer to the base snipers moved into possition and monitored the base personel. Commands came over the radio from the team leader and through night vision scopes guards fell to the ground. A fleury of action exploded on the base, pockets of combat were everywhere. The North's high security guards were tough but they were taken by surprise and were no match for the Acadian Special Forces combined with the punishing sniper cover. It took two hours to secure the base, then they inspected the storage facility. Intel had not dissapointed. There were the North's nuclear missiles caught waiting to be transported to frontline deployment facilities. Just incase those facilites were being attacked tonight also, but it appeared they would be unnecessary.

The warheads were painstakenly disarmed and the missiles destroyed. Then all the Special Forces returned to the helicopters and flew back toward Acadian airspace while C4 demolished what remained of the base. Casualties were moderate but thanks to the outstanding training the men went through the base had been taken with minimal force requirements. Bases, communication networks, and power grids were detonating like this one all over North Korea this night. Tomorrow the North Korean troops would find themselves under Acadian air strikes and artillery fire with no orders, power, or nuclear capabilities. That is what Acadian Forces everywhere prayed.

OOC: I hope that destroying the North's nukes isn't considered Godmoding. To be honest I wasn't even sure if they would have them or not, I decided it might make a better story if they did and I could take them out.

Wonju Airforce Base, ROA - Invasion Day 0500 zulu

The sun was just begining to rise behind the Taebaek Mountains as the F-15s flew high above the Korean peninsula. Blood Eagle wing's mission was to crater 10 of North Koreas Airbases. Blood Eagle 12 looked around, behind him was his wingman, and somewhere high above them was Sword squadron their KF-16 escorts. Squadrons were already returning from previous missions targeting North Koreas radar and air defences, Blood Eagle 12 hoped they had been sucessful or this mission would be more exciting than he hoped for. Special Forces had spent the night disrupting communications and power grids, today began airstrikes and artillery barages against the North's troop possitions paving the way for the invasion force.

Suddenly the radar flashed to life, 3 blips approaching on an intercept vector, Friend or Foe software received no signal. "Blood 12 to Sword, we have 3 presumed hostile, over."

A few seconds passed then the radio retuned, "Roger that, no friendlies reported in this area. Moving to intercept, continue on your current vector. Sword leader out"

"Roger, Sword leader. Good hunting." Above the Eagles unseen the KF-16s broke off to engaged the North Korean MIGs. "12 to 13, we continue on to objective Sword will cover us." The F-15s roared on to their target.

Korean Peninsula: Invasion day - 0700 zulu

Artillery shelling began. Radar Jammers all along the Acadian side of the boarder had activated a half hour before the bombardment. The airforce continued its attacks, and the Acadian Navy set out for the North's coasts seeking out their fleets.

0900 zulu

Radio Jamming broke and frequencies were flooded with a prerecorded message.

"This is President Warden to citizens of North Korea. For 50 years your government has betrayed your interests. You military grows without proper equipment or training using the funds needed to keep its people alive. Your government has denied you from the freedoms and liberties deserved by all men. They have lived off your hard labor in comfort and wealth while you live in poverty with no hope of improvement. No longer! On this day you will be given the rights you deserve. Ameracadia will rescue you from your oppressors. Already during the night, our airforce was busy destroying the army that has kept you oppressed by their will for so long. I urge citizens not to resist when our soldiers arrive, civilians will not be harmed and will be benefitted greatly when things are resolved. Soldiers who surrender will be treated fairly and as brothers rejecting their government. We urge the army not to resist, conflict is not necessary, help us remove your government and you will be reunited with your lost brothers and given full Ameracadian citizenship with all its rights and privileges. The time has long come for change, take you place in history, and unite with us in freedom."

Then the jamming started again.

1400 zulu

Artillery bombardment ends and Acadian armies cross the border, Apache Longbows provide cover for the 88 K1 MBTs as they charge forward through baricades punching holes for the Infantry.

ooc. Ok, sorry for replying so late. I got a bit of RL private problems so...

Along the Korean Border

General: "Damn it! Pyongyang hasn't given any orders! And planes fly over the entire time! Comrade Radioman, try to get HQ, will you please?"
Radio operator: "Yes comrade General! *after trying several frequencies and turning some buttons* Comrade! It seems the radio is jammed! I can't get anything!"
General: "Damn! We..."
Radio Operator: "Sir! I got something! Its...*pause*"
General: "Well?"
Radio Operator: "It's...It's...a propaganda speech! By the enemy!"
General: "Shit! Let me hear it!"

The two men listen to the broadcast. Once its finished, they look at each other and:

Radio Operator: "Well, it sounds promising!"
General:"Lies, all lies! They'll kill us all! Try to pass on the order to resist at all cost! Retreaters will be shot!"
Radio Operator: "Are you sure? Moral isn't high and if..."
General:"IN BUDDHA'S NAME! What you just said there wa treason! It is that I'm such a good man that I notice quality, otherwise you would have been shot at the spot!""
Radio Operator:"Yes comrade General! I'm sorry comrade general! I'll do what I can!"
General:"Good, and no more nonsense please!"
Radio Operator:"Yes comrade!"

The order was passed on where possible and the men stood ready. As the radio operator said, the moral was low. The men were frightened, especially when the artillery bombardment was resumed. And when the tanks and choppers appeared...

Soldier number one: "Fuck it! Come on comrades, I give up!"
Soldier number two: "That's treachery!"
Captain:"Well, but it's wise... Get a white sheet or flag or something!"
Soldier number two:"Yes, but..."
Captain:"Do it!"

Soon a white flag was flying above the trenches. Other troops saw it and began to retreat or putting up white flags themselves. The front was broken...

OOC: Don't worry about it Warta, whatever you can do is fine.

IC: So far things were going according to plan. The 2nd and 3rd armies were engaging enemy forces outside Haeju and Wonsan, while the 1st army took care of the forces inbetween and dealt with the surrendering enemy. North Korean moral proved to be worse than we thought, many troops had surrendered in one case an entire division. The captured troops were sent to Ameracadia where they were held temporary camps guarded by forces from 4th army. They would be held there until the end of hostilities and they could be incorporated into the Acadian Armed Forces or returned to civilian life.

Meanwhile the 1st and 2nd Marines launched from the Fleets and prepared to assault their respective targets.

Office of the President, Seoul

Warden's secretary returned from an errand. "Good afternoon Sir, I'm sorry I'm late. Those anti-war protestors outside are making a scene. I'm a little worried about how it looks to have those people right outside the building."

Warden shrugged. "Don't worry about them, their just a few bored college students with nothing better to do. Besides you remember the results of the election, the country is behind me. Just wait until this is over, then we'll see where those protesters are."

OOC: Things have been very busy, I think I'll move things faster now.

IC:
Kimch'aek
The First Marines arrived at their final objective for the campaign, Kimch'aek. They were smaller than when the war had started, not from casualties though there some, but because regiments had been left behind to secure Najin and Ch'ongjin. Resistance in the northeast had been light. Most of the enemies forces there had been near the coast and responed to the assault on Najin. The northern garrison had been defeated swiftly by the Acadian Marines and the AS Seahawk's hornets. The marine's job now was to restore order in the absence of government and prevent the supply lines from the fleet from being cut. In total 40,000 marines arrived at Kimch'aek as expected the military presence there was minimal. They went about removing the government's control in the city and set up command & control stations.

Pvt. Setter sat on the roof of the highest building in the city, he tugged his coat closed as the wind froze him. Shivering he looked up again and stared out into the hills to the west. Suddenly something caught his eye, he picked up his binoculars and focused on a line of dust rising in the distance. He grabbed his radio and fumbled with the swtich in the cold. "Sir! Setter. I've got a column of tanks inbound on our possition."

Captain Gordon's jeep pulled up to the edge of town where bunkers were being set up. "Status Sergent."

A tired looking soldier walked up to greet the captain. "Sir we have bunkers and pillboxes ready. That's the best we can do now, we have the AT rockets out here and in buildings along the east side. Depending on how many there are we will have to pull back into the city if the rockets can't take them all out."

"Very good Sergent, I will send you more men to man the defences and see if we can find any more rockets ..." The captain was stopped short by the column of tanks coming over a hill on the horizon and entered plain sight of the city. "Men get to your stations. Let's hope the boys from the Seahawk get here soon."

shriieeek BOOM!

One of the tanks coming over the hills errupted into flames.

The men cheered. The Captain looked up, "I can't see our pilots, where did that come from?"

The Sergent turned and said something to the Captain but was drowned out by four more explosions. "I said that doesn't sound like any ordinance the hornets carry, if you ask me it sounds like..." Again he was drowned out, this time by a low flying squadron of Longbows coming about over their possition. "... HELLFIRES SIR!" The Sergent said now shouting just to be heard.

The driver of the jeep handed Captain Gordon the radio. On it was headquarters. "Sir, the Second Army has arrived, their driving these tanks north from Hungnam. They will be joining with us in about an hour."

"Very good, inform them of our status and possitions." He returned the radio. "OK MEN FIRE AT WILL, LETS GIVE THOSE TANKS A WARM WELCOME!"

Namp'o
Meanwhile Namp'o has been the site of heavy fighting since the Second Marines landed. Fighting had broken down to street-to-street fighting after the first day, but despite the resistance the marines continued steadily north. About 4 days ago the Third Army arrived from Sariwon and together the city had been cleared of resistance. Now preparations were being made for the taking of P'yongyang. The marines were in control of Namp'o and the Third Army was stationed about a mile up the Taedong River between P'yongyang and Namp'o.

They were waiting for the First Army who had run into fiercer fighting and had been slowed down securing prisoners and cleaning up the pockets resistance. When they arrived the preparations for the assault could continue.

OOC: P'yongyang is surrounded now so I'll start the siege.

IC:
P'yongyang

The First Army arrived yesterday. Since then the Third and First Armies had been busy preparing to take the city. They expected this to be the most hazerdous operation of the war. Though the general feeling throughout the rest of the country had been mostly positive to the liberating forces, this was the center of the corrupt regime. All who were directly involved with its operation or benefitted from it were here. There would be much resistance here. Airstrikes demolished government buildings, barracks, armories, radio stations, television stations, and bunkers. Commando teams infiltrated the confusion and disabled the power grid. Then starting at night, KIFVs entered the city. Armed with night vision urban warfare equipment forces from the First and Third Armies moved from street to street securing weapons and known officials. They divided the city into sections and moved in slowly painstakingly scowering each block to ensure its population posed no threat. When a section was searched it was cut off from the rest and guarded while the rest of the force moved on. This slow process was going on in every corner of the city making its way toward the center faster than expected due to the numbers of the attackers. The rural areas and suberbs fell quickly and quietly, most people here were just families with no desire to disturb the soldiers. Things were different when the first force reached the city core. In the core resisters held up in the thick jungle of buildings, here things turned to building-to-building fighting. Very little progress was made for hours. Then as more of the teams reached the core the resisters began to be threatened from multiple sides. They had to divide fire and men on different areas, this only made the job of the soldiers easier. They pressed on through the buildings long into the night, until they arrived last at city hall and the government headquarters. They took the leaders prisoner and the city was taken.

News spread to all of Ameracadia and North Korea that the government had fallen and the country was won. Celebration spread through the streets of Seoul. This message was broadcast through all of United Ameracadia:

"Friends, today our forces have arrested those incharge of the cruel treatment of our brothers and are establishing order throughout the country. Now begins the massive constrution effort, not only must we repair any damage done in this war, we must modernize North Acadia so that they too may enjoy the high standard of living we all take pride in. Celebrate, for today all Acadians are free!"

Summary:
North Korea is Annexed by Ameracadia.
Acadian losses: 5,200
