Economy - overview
Hamptonshire's economy is among the strongest in the world. The economy is left in the hands of private business with minimal government regulation or interference. Private industry, as well as Government Ministries, have begun to explore new alternative technologies.
Hamptonshire operates a near perfect lassiez-faire free market economy. Nationalized industries have never existed. All business are allowed to operate freely, although the government also strictly enforces environmental, labor, and product safety laws deemed necessary to maintain the health of the Grand Duchy.
Poverty levels are nearly non-existant, despite having no welfare system. Hamptonshire is, has been, and shall be for the forseeable future a profoundly capitalist state. There is no expectaton that the state should provide aide or other unnecessary assistance for the populace.
