Terror in Toronto

Toronto Island
29-03-2005, 04:20
Almost 24 hours after it happened, Prime Minister Mel Lastman finally held an official press conference, to brief the press on the most horrid of catatstrophes that had befallen the entire region of Toronto. He approached the podium, calm, collected. Prepared to deliver the most difficult news to the world.

At approx. midnight last night, the region of Toronto was devestated by what is now being called, the "Kawkawlin Bomb", or "K-Bomb" for short.

Shortly after 12:00 AM, EST, international satellites watched an explosion of massive scale, beginning within the borders of the Kawkawlin nation, and reaching out to the Greater Toronto Area. All of Toronto has since been devastated, with residual damage done to the rest of the GTA.

Since the explosion, a team of U.N. recovery and clean-up crews has arrived within the region to aid rebuilding efforts, though little is to be done.

We have lost all contact with officials of the nations of Toronto.

As mentioned beforehand, the explosion started in the Kawkawlin nation. It then spread outward, quickly absorbing Stephanieville to the East, and the Q.A.O. to the west - the Q.A.O. being located in the downtown core. After destroying the inner-city, it continued along it's path of destruction in all directions.

The explosion hit Lake Ontario only a few seconds after it began. Toronto Island, only loosely secured to the harbourfront since returning from Canada, was immediately severed from the mainland by the shock wave alone. The island itself was then pushed out into the lake by the shear force of the explosion.

Being so close to ground zero, Toronto Island itself withstood a great beating. As it was pushed away from the mainland by the force of the explosion, the island split back into some of it's original pieces. The Centre, South, and Olympic Islands have detached and drifted away from the mainland of Toronto Island. After a few tense hours following the explosion, and some international help, contact with South, Centre, and Olympic provincial officials was re-established. In the coming days, work will be done to re-attach them to the mainland, and again unite the Toronto Islands.

With help of Canadian and U.N. tugs, we have been towed back and secured to the region, after drifting just short of the Canadian-U.S. border.

Work is being done to locate and contact officials of the Q.A.O., Stephanieville, Tom Tom, Jim Bean Black, or Jellicle, and any other government officials of the nations of Toronto, so that we can speed the recovery process.

We are also still trying to locate and survivors of the blast, and of any refugees who may have escaped in time to Rochester, Missisauga, Milton Hamilton, Halton or Niagara, or anywhere in the outer-GTA.

We plead with the international community to aid our efforts.

I believe that we will recover from this most terrible disaster.

Thank you, no questions.

The tiny Mel Lastman then hurried out of the room, being mobbed by the press, who only hours earlier watched international tug boats drag their island back to shore, after being dragged out of bed the previous night to a safe point, or to evacuate the island. Very few of the Island's inhabitants were lucky enough to succeed. It was assumed that the case was the same for the rest of the region as well.

It had been a bloody Sunday for the citizens of Toronto.
