Barbarossa Defensive Line

Vanek Krieg

When Vanek Krieg first took power from Hitler and became First Consul he became aware of Hitler's plan for the invasion of Russia. In his his wisdom foresight, Krieg destroyed the files knowing that such an attack was futile, he had learned his leasons from history. But neither was Krieg going to take an easy watch on the new border down the center of Poland.

When reports arrived of Stalin taking over the Baltic States, Consul Krieg emmediatly gathered to himself the best engineers and military strategists he had in Greater Germany.

They came up with the Barbarossa Defensive line.

The line runs from the Baltic Sea, in the City of Gdansk, down the Vistula, along the border of Czechaslovakia and Romania to the Black Sea. It runs over 700 kilometers in length. In most parts engineers took advantage of the lands shape of natural defenses and fortified these with trenches (http://www.worldwar1.com/photos/rlh005.jpg) and MG nests (http://www.beobachtungsabteilung.derkessel.de/images/photos/HMG.jpg). Over 1,000 kilometers of trenches is being in the process of dug, each extensive and made to last. Over 2,000 MG 'pill boxes' have been constructed from reinforced concrete, as well as several million kilometers worth of barbed wire.

The Krump manufactory in the Rhineland has provided and is providing over 3,000,000 land mines for the defense.

Consul Krieg has ordered Field Marshal Erwin Rommel to personally watch over the construction, and has ordered the 1st Army to be acting garrison of the line until futher notice.

no offense, but im afraid a new nation such as you (or even me) probably could not afford the cost of building this line.

Since about 78% of it is trenches and digging hillsides out to make bunkers, and cutting down local Polish trees to reinforce them. And using the army as the work horse for the project...I see no problems with it. And if need be I can call upon a workforce of 'non desirables.' The weapons and the arming of the line wont cost anything since I already have the stuff, the mines from the Krump factory are being paid for only partly in money as well as assuring better trade deals and offers to be reserved for the Krump Company. So The cost on a whole will be relatively small. No more than a few million marks.

OOC: So it runs down my border. The Transylvania is located in RL Romania. (The whole country.) You want have me said something about guns pointing at my nation or something?

123 railroad artillary batteries is abit ambitious considering the average railgun had a crew of 1,000 to 2,000 men

[OOC: As do about 50 other nations. There are many different Earths threads, many earths that don't have claims threads attached and many more nations that simply use RL-looking territory for a NS nation. In short, he can choose if he wants to be positioned next to your nation or not - you can't force it upon him.]

OOC: The last part of my post was a question. Could you not see it? I asked if he want me to post something about guns pointing at my nation.

And the different Earth stuff, I don't like the idea of them. The only nations that can have one are the ones that have a background in the RL nation. That is why I have Romania. I.E. My name is the Transylvania. Ok, I'm not going to high jacking this thread anymore.

[OOC: Right... I didn't see a question mark, and the words were somewhat muddled at the beginning, so I thought you meant something like "I think I should have a say about having guns pointed at my nation." or something to that effect.

OOC: I knew I forgot something. I have edited the question mark in that post. Thanks for pointing that out.

OoC: Nothing in this thread is that incredulous, he is stretching it a bit but so what, it's his nation and I personally like the way he's done it, it just appealed to me for some reason.*

*doubtless the fact that I love trenches and old-era technology!

I am also a huge fan of WW2 technology, especially tanks, and I respect everyones right to orginise their nation as they wish. I just think that 123 railroad artillary batteries would be abit expensive on the manpower. These troops could be better employed in fixed gun emplacements or tank formations.
However, it isn't my nation and you can orginise it as you wish. This is just my oppinion.

I like how he's doing things as well. I have similar border defenses myself. (won't specify exactly how they work though)

OOC:Thanks for the input. The guns aren't those big ass "Paris Gun" types. Their more like medium tank busters. Good for breaking up major attacks and open targets.

And I mean along the Russian-Romanian border, Romania, if you read my intro joined my country in alliance and eventually joined as a "state" of greater germany.

So guns are not pointed at you. :D

OOC: I'm actually only in one war, the other was me rping the construction of a defense trench work accross the border between germany and russia. But thanks for the compliment.

OOC: What is your tech level? WWII or Modern Tech?

What year is in it your nation?

I will a IC post later about guns pointing at the Dominion.

OOC: Dude, your not understanding me. The Europe and earth I'm in is not the same as urs. In mine no Dominion exists. And I'm post-ww2 tech. the year is 1949.

I’m getting another message from this.

So guns are pointed at you. :D

To me its means, you have guns pointing at my nation and you're happy about it.

And what Earth are you on, I’m on the NS Earth. Three times the size of the normal Earth, so every nation in NS can be on it.

Oh........ This is a good idea for a WWII tech nation but a modern tech nation would turn your line into nothing in seconds. But good job.

you do know that one of the reasons the roman empire fell was because they built a massive line of defences

OOC: I'm terribly sorry, my dear Nazi, but that seems a little out of your league expense-wise. Good day.
Vanek Krieg

OOC: I'll address each in turn.

To Transylvania:
Yea I know any modern tech nation could have a nice easy time of getting through it or pounding it with arty but hey, I like it. Thanks for understanding.

To Jamum:
I might do that, the rp thing. But the Roman Empire didn't fall due to massive defenses, those helped it live longer. It died because of the real stupid Emperors like Caligula and Nero who sunk the Empire into ruins with their lust of food, drink, entertainment, women, and cared little of the Empire at large.

To Freudotopia:
Before you go slapping a Nazi stamp on someone just because they are rp'ing a german government or army you should be aware that I am not a Nazi and will not tolerate someone saying so. And this project is perfectly within my limits to build as like I said earlier, 75% of it is trenches dug by the soldiers themselves, and taking advantage of natural terrain. So plz kindly kiss my ass.

Why exactly do you think that Vanek Krieg can't "afford" to have his troops dig a bunch of trenches and build machine gun nests? Hell the only thing that is going to cost money is building the two thousand or so concrete pillboxes and the barbed wire. It's hardly going to bankrupt thier national budget....
