Religion No government-sanctioned religion. Citizens are free to worship however they choose. Most scholars cite Sarzonia's ending (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=343286) civil recognition of marriage as the start of a precipitous decline in the influence of religion in the country.
Politics Most citizens are Independent, declining to join political parties. Liberal, Conservative, and Moderate parties are the next most dominant political parties in Sarzonia. A new faction of Liberal Imperialists has begun to establish a foothold in Sarzonia and one Delegate is a Liberal Imperialist. A detailed breakdown is here (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6886109&postcount=32).
Civil Rights Sarzonia prides itself on being a model country for civil rights as a result of its announcement that civil unions for both same-sex and opposite sex couples carry the privileges of marriages in other countries. Anyone who is not convicted of a capital or otherwise infamous crime has full rights guaranteed by the Constitution (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=330340).
Sports The dominant sport in Sarzonia is football, also known in some parts of the world as soccer. Other sports include handball, hockey, lacrosse, and gridball, the name given to the sport formerly known as American football.
Language English (official); Spanish; Pacitalian. Students are expected to be fluent in two languages other than English and at least intermediate level in two additional languages.

War Song Fall From Grace (http://www.nicksfix.com/lyrics_fall_from_grace.htm), written and performed by Stevie Nicks.
Constitution Ratified 25 May, 2004 (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=330340).
National Holiday 22 March 2004 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7283576&postcount=1).
Alliances Organisation of Maritime Powers; Union of World Powers; Woodstock Pact (founding nation); Alliance of Greater Imperial Powers.
Closest Allies United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland; Democratic Imperium of Praetonia; Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia; United Freedom Forces of Euroslavia.
Economy Powerhouse.
Civil Rights Excellent.
Political Freedoms Average.
Voting Age 18 years. Universal suffrage for males and females.
Economic Priorities Defence (14.7%); Education (12.9%); Social Welfare (11%) are the top three government budgetary priorities. (OOC: My ThirdGeek rating is 34 percent for defence, but for more realism, I'm saying it's 14.7%.) Welfare has just undergone a massive cut.
Legal Age (Drinking/Drugs): 18 years.
Military Notes Heavily focused on the Navy, the Incorporated Sarzonian Military has taken part in several wars in spite of the country's desires for peace.
Active Personnel
Army (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=409434) 7.9 million
Navy (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=410878) 12.8 million
Air Force 1.75 million
Special Operations 800,000
Total 23.25 million (1.07% of total population)
Service Notes The Sarzonian Army has been untested even in active combat, as the bulk of the fighting has been done by Sarzonian naval and air forces. The running joke among Sarzonians is that the Army houses the Navy's rejects. The Air Force is considered a small and elite group that only the best of the best can join. The Navy is the country's pride and joy and has earned a reputation as one of the world's most effective fighting forces. Unlike the other branches, which are run by department Chiefs that report to the Vice President for Defence, the Navy is run by a Vice President of Naval Operations who reports directly to the President.

At age 18, all citizens are required to register for Selective Service. If a citizen wishes to register as a conscientious objector, he or she may include a 1,000 word written justification, which may result in his being called in to testify to the reason for such selection. An evaluation committee then determines if conscientious objector status is allowable.

However, in the event of a direct military invasion of Sarzonia, a Writ of Conscription may be issued by the government. During states of war or other federal emergencies, the Constitution is suspended, but upon officially documented conclusions of emergencies, it is restored.

Love it! Like the liberalism (of course), cool idea, I think this should be called a fact-page, the way it is laid out. Short, but to the point. Good job, Sarzonia!

Thanks again for the feedback everyone!

I figured this would be a good place to create a place where information about Sarzonia is available at a glance or at the click of a mouse in the case of the linked posts and threads. I admire the people who have devoted extensive time to developing long detailed factbooks (like Isselmere's), but I also like something relatively short and to the point but still detailed.

You have the gay president right?

That rocks. 10/10 despite it having nothing to do with this thread.

But First Partner? Please, can't you think of a better title than that.

Yeah. I don't feel comfortable with the term husband, so I went with partner. Besides that, marriage has nothing more than symbolic meaning in Sarzonia anyway. :p

Anyway, if you have a better idea than First Partner, give me a holler.

Mr? First man? Second man?

I quite like the idea of partners not getting a title and just being called love.

A couple of things one might add.

Your president's picture; in my fact book there are even pictures of characters I haven't RPed.

Also is the President direct elected, or appointed by parliament/congress/councils.

What type of electoral systems do you use? Proportional representation, local representation? A different one in each house?

Do you use American style electoral colledge votes, or however gets the most votes wins?

First past the post or preferential voting systems?

Do you understand all that political system jargon?

As for the pic of Sarzo, I have one that *cough* Pacitalia has used *cough*. I figure I don't want too many people to be scared off by my ugly mug. :p
