Rebellion Erupts Across Empire
Yesterday Kumar Parios, Patriarch of Domain Parios, declared his intention to secede from the Empire.
Already troops loyal to Domain Parios have begun assembling for an invasion of the Palatine Peninsula, and ultimately Imperia itself.
Parios, a warrior domain, has been butting heads with the Sacred Emperor for years, especially under the leadership of Patriarch Kumar. Its troops have long been considered the finest in the nation because of their rigorous training. Many members of Domain Parios have positions in the command structure of the Empire, and it remains to be seen where their loyalties lie.
The Sacred Emperor was stunned by the news, says an inside source in the palace. Domus clan Imilzor, a spokesperson for the Emperor, said that “The Mighty One is outraged at this personal betrayal of the entire Empire, and has issued a declaration of war. Troops are being raised to defend the Capitoline Peninsula, and His Mightiness orders all citizens to remain calm.”
Tacticians agree that the greatest assistance will likely come from Domain Halcyon, a fabulously wealthy warrior domain. Patriarch Screed of Domain Halcyon announced at 5 P.M. this evening that Supreme Commander Lucifer of Domain Halcyon will arm and lead an army to capture Parian lands and end the rebellion. According to Chanas of Domain Halcyon, a servant in the Halcyon estate, the Supreme Commander is on his way to Imperia to coordinate strategy with the rest of the High Command.
However, turmoil is filling the Empire as mobs take to the streets, many demanding the first democratic elections in centuries. Domain Jamaane and clans I’pan and Hul have been accused of genocide in the isolated Arran Prefecture, located in the extreme southeast of the continent. Other clans, like Qvendus and Thrull, are using the outbreak of violence to move against their political enemies, clans Ithrik and Trashald, respectively. Already Thrull-hired mercenaries have exterminated all Trashaldi businessmen in the city of Krann. The underground Fascist and Communist Parties have come into the open, and gangs of them are parading through the streets of Korronis and Mon Serat, shooting each other in the streets. The Imperial Reserves are being used to quell the dissent, but they have not succeeded thus far.
Despite the charge of treason, one must wonder where this will lead. Is the Empire strong enough to fight off the attack of its most powerful domain in the midst of massive upheaval?
